#Miner'sRespite – January 26, 2014

Va'ynna is sitting at a booth along the wall near the middle of the room, reading intently on her datapad. She's in a dark-green dress. Aside from some glances towards the entrance and staircase every minute or so, she doesn't seem very attentive to what's going on around her.

Jason marches into the Respite in casual attire, missing his hardsuit for once. He makes note of Va'ynna but continues past her booth to the bar. After a few moments he returns to the booth, drink in hand, and slides into the seat across from her. "Evening, V." he says, setting his drink down and adjusting the collar of his brown jacket.

Va'ynna once again failed to notice him, but didn't seem too startled today. She looks up at him as he takes the seat opposite her with a small smile as she shuts off and lays the datapad on the table. "Hey, Jason," she says, looking and sounding slightly tired. "What's up?"

Jason shakes his head and sighs. "Work. And lots of it. I've got a big job coming up and preparation is taking a lot more effort than I thought it would." he says and takes another sip of his drink, "How about you? How is life in the drunk-tank?"

Va'ynna shrugs. "It's alright.... A little boring, and stressful since I need to learn some things before my training end... if I want to continue here," she says, "and...," she glances towards the staircase, but she doesn't continue.

Jason raises an eyebrow and leans against a forearm against the table as he follows her gaze. "And?" he asks, genuinely curious.

Va'ynna frowns, returning to look at him, but averting his gaze. "Nothing," she murmurs. "So, um, what sort of job do you have coming up?"

Jason shrugs, not wanting to force the asari to talk if she doesn't want to. "Eh... You know. The sort where people attempt to shoot me before I shoot them." he says non-chalantly, only somewhat joking, "The better half demanded that I get my hardsuit patched up... I mean, there's a few dings in it, but it was fine. She's just being paranoid." he sighs and tugs at his jacket collar, "I feel so naked."

Va'ynna smiles, a giggle escaping her. "Reminds me of my first days here," she says, pinching the cloth on the side of her dress. "I have to dress... formally when working at the bar." She pauses, tilting her head. "Don't think... you have much to worry about in here without armor."

Jason nods slowly. "Maybe not... But it's about comfort. Ease of mind." he sighs and takes another sip of his drink, "Plus I hate to think of what those butchers might be doing to my baby. I've patched her up myself so many times... Hammered out dents and dings..." he shakes his head and props up his chin with his hand.

Va'ynna nods. "Oh," she says. "If you can fix it... why did she have these 'butchers' as you call them do it?"

Jason shrugs and gives a dejected sigh, "In her own words..." he begins before changing his voice, impersonating the person in question, "Jason, you don't know what you're doing! You're going to get yourself killed! Stop being so stubborn and go get it fixed right!" He shrugs again and looks down at his glass. "Whatever." he says, "What's done is done, right?"

Va'ynna brings up a hand ot her mouth as she laughs at his impersination of the woman. "Oh, I remember what you said about her now...," she begins. "And yeah, it is. They... won't make it worse, at the very least?"

Jason shakes his head. "I'm sure it'll come back like new." he says, sounding saddened by that, "A lot of memories embedded in that thing." he takes another sip of his drink, making a mental toast to his hardsuit. "But enough about me... You said you still have a few things to learn before your training ends? When does it end?" he asks.

Va'ynna hums thoughtfully. "In fifty-something days, I think.... The day after Janiris, at least," she says. "I want to work mostly in the kitchen, though, and... I have a lot to read up on for that."

Jason glances in the direction of the bar, "I wouldn't think a bar out in some backwoods town in the Terminus would be all that picky about who cooks their food."

Va'ynna | "I know," she replies, "but.... I guess it's diifficult enough to get a job like that here for her to demand as much." She sighs. "I think I'll manage, it's still a while until Janiris."

Jason nods a few times. "I'm sure you'll do fine, V. If people are willing to let me carry a gun, they damn well better let you carry a spatula." he teases as a smirk returns to his face.

Va'ynna tilts her head a bit, though a smirk is visible on her face for a few seconds, though it fades as she asks, "You're... not bad with a gun, I hope?"

Jason frowns and shakes his head, "No-... Not the point!" he says, not really sure what his point was to begin with, "I'm just saying... I don't know. Don't let it stress you out?" he shrugs, "You're gonna figure it out. And if you don't, their loss. There's plenty of other places that will jump at the opportunity to hire you." He nods, satisfied with himself, and slugs back the rest of his drink.

Va'ynna smiles. "Your... agency's still an option, right?" she asks, curious. "I didn't have much luck finding work before I asked the owner here, though, so I don't know."

Jason nods and his smile widens, "Absolutely!" he says, "We've got a long way to go before I'd consider us 'fully staffed'." he assures the asari, "So don't worry, you'll have something to fall back on." He picks up his empty glass and slides out of the booth, sighing loudly as he does. "Unfortunately, though, I need to get going. Need to drop in and see how much longer before my hardsuit is ready."

Va'ynna smiles happily as she stands up, as well. "Thank you," she says. "I'll see you again, Jason..... Good luck with the job."

Jason gives the asari one last nod. "See you around, V. Good luck with the training." he says and returns his glass to the bar before exiting the building.

Va'ynna smiles back in response, before she packs the datapad in her bag and makes for the area behind the bar as her shift starts starts in less than half an hour.
