#Miner'sRespite – March 20, 2014

Va'ynna is sitting at the bar, mostly in her own thoughts. There's an almost-full glass of water on the counter infront of her and a datapad-sized bag rests against the her barstool. The tall dark-purple asari is wearing a dark-green dress that hugs her figure well, but doesn't show any skin below the upper half of her neck, aside from her hands.

Alex enters the Inn, looking around the place. She smiles slightly finally being away from home for the first time. The girl slides her hand's into her white jacket pockets and carefully approaches the bar, sitting not too far from the asari.

Va'ynna glances at the new arrival, though doesn't seem to pay her more mind than that. Approaching strangers wasn't something she felt comfortable with, and wouldn't do while off work.

Alex clears her throat. "Hello I'm new here." She smiles at the stranger, and tries to remind herself that everything is going to be okay.

Va'ynna turns mostly her head towards the human woman, cocking it to the side. She glances over her shoulder once, seeing none that would be close enough to be addressed instead, so it had to be her. "Um... hello," she says, looking a little tense.

Alex waves at the her. "My name is Alex," She offers her hand to the asari, "May I ask what your name is?"

Va'ynna picks up her glass and the bag, and moves to sit closer to Alex. After placing it on the counter, she hesitantly takes the human's hand; still holding the small bag in her other hand. "I'm Va'ynna," she says, a tiny smile forming. "It's... nice to meet you."

Gregorij comes down the stairs with his asari mech assistant in tow. He looks to be middle aged with black hair, a full beard and a weary expression. His clothes are worn and unremarkable. a Locust SMG is holstered on his left hip. He heads over to the bar and takes a seat about one stool from the others. The mech sits down next to him and orders a whiskey for Greg.

Alex smiles widely, "It's nice to meet you too," Alex giggles. "So um... how are you?" she asks Va`ynna.

Va'ynna places the bag down to rest against her stool and turns towards Alex. She notices the other human and the mech, tensing up a little. "I'm... alright," she says. "I work here, but... I have a few days off while... considering a new contract." She pauses. "You?"

Alex watches the man and asari for a moment, then looks back to Va`ynna. "I'm doing pretty good as well. I'm in the process of moving here." She looks down, then back up "I wanted to explore a bit.."

Va'ynna nods understandingly, a smile creeping up. "That's... why I went here, too," she says. "Did you...," she trails off, remembering the raised eyebrows she's gotten from humans for these reasons. However, she decides to ask anyway. "Did you too... grow bored of life back home?"

Gregorij seems to be getting agitated. He looks around for the bartender. "Hey! Where's my damn drink?!"

Alex tilts her head thoughtfully, but jumps when the older man yells.

Alex looks over to him, "Wow, rude," She looks back to Va`ynna and says, "I guess I did? I dunno, I had never left home before."

Aylena sighs as she locates the bottle. "It's coming, it's coming," she says as she returns back to the counter and pours a glass of it, and places it on the before Gregorij. After that, she heads over to another patron who was signaling for her.

Gregorij is already regretting yelling, cradling his head with closed eyes. As the drink arrives he immediately takes a sip and grunts faintly, eyes closing ones more.

Va'ynna jerks her head towards the older man, fear clear in her expression for a few seconds. She tries to ignore him as she looks at Alex. "I, um," she begins, trying to regain her train of thought. "It's... not normal for you... your kind?"

Alex bites the inside of her cheek, "Well, I think so. I don't think my parents would like if I stayed with them for very long." She says, jokingly.

Va'ynna frowns. "Oh...," she says. "You... aren't... on good terms with them?" She regrets the question immediately after, looking to the side. "I'm sorry, I... I... didn't mean to pry."

Gregorij sips his whiskey again and then puts it down with a sigh. "Anna, did you download those files I asked for?" The mech looks at him and responds. "Yes, Greg." "Good, why don't you go get dinner started. I'm going to do some work." He takes out a datapad and starts typing as the mech gets up and walks away.

Alex laughs, quietly. "No, it's fine. I'm good with my parents, but I know that they were planning on going to some vacation home after I left."

Va'ynna relaxes slightly and looks back at her, though averting her gaze. "That's... good to hear," she says. "So... you're here on vacation, then?"

Gregorij continues to type on his datapad in silence, occasionally sipping his drink. He seems focused.

Alex shrugs. "I guess you could say that. It depends on what I wanna do with my future."

Va'ynna nods. "It... can be difficult finding a job here, though," she says, "just... look for one in... good time before your credits run out."

Alex nods as well. "Yeah, I was hoping to start that today... or something."

Va'ynna smiles. "That's good," she says. "So, um, what sort of work are you looking for? If I can ask."

Alex thinks for a moment. "Well, I was just going to go for the first one that comes up..Do you know of any jobs that are open around here?"

Va'ynna hums thoughtfully. "I... haven't looked around much," she says. "There... is a commercial street out the door and... four, no, five blocks in," she raises her left hand, pointing eastwards which is the direction their backs would be facing when sitting at the bar, "that direction. I... didn't really look for retail jobs when I got here, and it's months ago."

Alex smiles and nods. "Well, I guess I'll look around there tomorrow or something. Thank you."

Gregorij gets up with a grunt, stowing away the datapad and paying for his drink before moving off towards the stairs.

Va'ynna returns a small smile. "I'm... happy to help," she says, fidgeting with her hands absent-mindedly.

Alex taps her fingers on the bar counter, "So um what about you? Like what brought you here?" She looks at the a sari curiously.

Va'ynna looks a little uncomfortable at the question. "I... I grew bored of life back home," she says. "I wanted to see the galaxy. It's... normal for asari my age, but... I'm not sure if coming here was a good idea."

Alex rubs the back of her neck. "Oh.. Okay that makes sense." She frowns slightly at the last comment, "Is there something wrong with being here?"

Va'ynna frowns, taking a few seconds to pick her words. "Yeah," she says. "I mean, it's fine most days.... Almost... all days, but it... can be dangerous out here."

Alex sighs. "Oh, well..." She runs a hand through her hair. "Damn."

Va'ynna | "You're safe in here.... At least, I feel safe in here," she says. "And this town is... one of the safest parts of Aite, I've heard."

Alex nods, and looks around the bar a bit. "Do you come here a lot?"

Va'ynna smiles slighly. "Almost... every day, but... that's because I work here," she says. "I'm... not much of a drinker."

Alex stares at Va`ynna for a moment. "Wait, did you already tell me that you work here?"

Va'ynna looks thoughtful for a second. "Yeah,... I think I did?" she says, not sounding too sure, "but I was done with my training here this Janiris, and... I am still considering some options I have for full-time employment here."

Alex giggles. "Sorry about that. Well, if you really like it you should go for it, I guess." She smiles awkwardly.

Va'ynna nods, smiling slightly. "I'm... happy enough with it," she says. "I was hoping to... only work in the kitchen, but I'll still be working out here at the bar... some parts of the day. But... I won't get paid much in credits unless I find some place of my own to live."

Alex smiles back at her. "Well like if you need help or something you can come to me, y'know, if you ever need to."

Va'ynna | "Thank you," she says, smiling, "but I'm... fine. I can still live here and eat for free... but I'll only earn a few hundred credits a month."

Alex nods understanding, "That's not bad, I guess. Hmmmm," Alex continues looking around the Respite. She then pushes her barstool, hoping it will spin.

Va'ynna nods. "But... if I found an apartment for fifteen-hundred a month, I'll have a lot left for... other things. Maybe a thousand, even."

Alex spins on the chair "Sounds nice."

Va'ynna raises an eyebrow at her, giggling a bit. "It is.... I like it here, though," she begins, "and... I'm not sure how safe I'll feel any other place."

Alex slows the chair down a bit. "This place seems pretty nice. I wonder if they have orange juice..."

Va'ynna looks a little thoughtful. "I'm... not sure," she says. "I know there is some sorts of juice, but I don't know what kind of fruit that is."

Alex looks up at Va`ynna slowly. "Oh." Alex then begins thinking of how to describe oranges, "Well it's like orange and it's a sphere. It's pretty good! They're my favorite fruit."

Va'ynna glances at the bartender, who's currently mixing a drink for another customer. "You could ask the bartender," she asys. "I... think I've heard about that... kind of juice before, though, so it's possible."

Alex timidly looks over to the bartender. "Well, she looks kinda busy. I'll just ask later." She smiles. "Thanks though."

Va'ynna nods, understanding the hesitation of the other woman. "So, um," she begins, going quiet for a few seconds. "What... do you like to do in your free time? If I... can ask, of course."

Alex | "Well, I don't see why you wouldn't, and well.. I like to hang out with friends, or maybe work on a project, learn something new. Whatever comes along."

Va'ynna picks up her glass of water and takes a long sip of it. "Project?" she asks.

Alex nods. "Yeah, like maybe learning how to build something, or just making random stuff."

Va'ynna smiles. "Sounds fun," she says. "Unless I need to... read or do something for the job, I'm... not very productive. I often watch a vid, or something. I used to draw a lot when-... twenty-thirty years ago."

Alex | "Well, if I come up with anything to make or work on, would you like to help out? Y'know if you have the free time?" The young girl smiles brightly.

Va'ynna hums conteplatingly. "Maybe," she says, glancing towards the exit. "I'm... not too comfortable outside here, but..." She frowns, wringing her hands a little. "If it's something I can help with, yeah, I suppose I could."

Alex facepalms. "Crap. Sorry, well we could do them here, they wouldn't have to be really big things. Just like turning cups into phones or something dorky like that." She laughs.

Va'ynna tilts her head, staring at her for a few seconds as she didn't really know how to react. "Um, I... don't know," she says. "I, well, uh..." she stumbled a little with her words, not wanting to offend. "I'm... sorry. I think I'm a little too old for something like that." She offered an apologetic smile.

Alex smirks. "Pft, if you're thinking about two cans on a string, I feel a little offended. They'd be a little more complex than that... Hopefully."

Va'ynna glances away for a few seconds, looking a tiny bit embarrased. "Maybe... I was," she says. "So, um, you're good with... technical things?" she asked, for the lack of a better word.

Alex looks down at her hands for a moment. "Yeah, you could say that. My dad taught me a lot."

Va'ynna nods. "That's a useful thing to know, I suppse," she says. "Maybe you could find a job... repairing pieces of tech?" She takes another gulp of her glass of water. "I don't know if there are any such jobs here in Freedom Falls, though."

Alex | "Yeah.. they probably have some pretty cool stuff here. Cool illegal stuff. Yeah, I could try for that." Alex begins spinning on her chair again.

Va'ynna tilts her head. "Illegal?" she asks, sounding a little curious. "Like... for hacking... and spying?" While she was a stranger to advanced tech, she has seen her fair share of vids.

Alex she nods, quietly. "We are in the Terminus Systems, and you said it was dangerous.. I wouldn't be surprised it there was illegal stuff here. Hm, maybe I could do that for a living."

Va'ynna frowns. "Sounds like... a way to get in trouble, though," she says. "The... people that buy these illegal things... maybe they're dangerous?" She pauses. "But, that's probably just me... I'm... a bit of a coward, I admit."

Alex smiles at Va`ynna. "I don't really mind getting in trouble." She chuckles, then frowns. "Well, you're not being a coward... Just a little more careful than most."

Va'ynna nods. "Thanks," she says, giving a tiny smile. She is quiet for a few seconds. "I think I should get going," she says as she stands up. "It's been nice... meeting you, Alex." She lingers for a few seconds before making her way back to her room upstairs.
