Va'ynna is standing behind the bar, looking a bit tired this evening as her shift has dragged on for quite a while longer than it's supposed to. She is currently pouring a drink for an asari patron, exchanging a few words while doing so. Va'ynna is in her dark gray dress with green trims.

Zaylus took a quiet step into the Respite, standing flush with the closest interior wall for just a few moments- enough for a quick scan of the establishment. He appears tired, and somewhat on edge, but otherwise looks very similiar to how he had not long ago. The turian sports the same simple, dark armor and a lone Carnifex at his waist. His feet glide over the flooring as he meanders

toward the familiar line of barstools, hopping into one after sufficiently eyeing up the other patrons. It's several moments after he's sat before he notices the bartender, and sits very still. He opens his mouth to greet her, but only manages to tap his talons along the countertop while attempting to meet her gaze.

Va'ynna finishes pouring the drink for the other patron as the turian come into view and she approaches him. "Hey, what... can I get--," she pauses, and tilts her head. "Zay...Zaylus, is that you?"

Zaylus lowers his head somewhat, as if in guilt or shame. But there is a touch of grin that flashes once before he speaks lowly, "That it is." He replies, looking up at the asari. "Guess you couldn't forget about me, hm?" The turian teases, though not as emphatic as one would expect. "It's good to see you."

Va'ynna smiles slightly. "You... too," she says. "What... had you leave without... telling anyone?"

Zaylus puts a hand up to rub the side of his face, now slumping in his seat. He hesitates, peering at a patron who'd gotten up to move before returning his attention to the asari. "It..." He pauses, holding tightly to the countertop. "I didn't want to, you know. I didn't..." The turians winces, breaking to find words often. "I didn't know I would be gone so long. I guess I wish... I'd

mentioned it to someone." He finishes, barely audible. Without letting her question further, he quickly adds, "Have you seen, uh, Jason around lately?" He asks, the words seeming to bite him as they come out.

Va'ynna hums thoughtfully, not sure what to say that wouldn't be in breach of her job's regulations. "I... Yes, I've seen him," she says. "He's staying... upstairs."

Zaylus quickly directs his attention to the stairs, as if he might get up and go right now. But he stays put, resting his hands on the countertop. "I see." He murmurs, occasionally peering that way. "I'll... talk to him later. How have you been doing? Anything... happen, while I was gone?" The turian questions, seeming to settle down just a bit.

Va'ynna looks down at the counter for a few moments, trying to recall back to when she last saw the turian. "We... had another situation in here," she says, looks back up at him. "It... wasn't against us, I've heard, just... bad luck it happened here." She fidgets a bit.

Zaylus nods slowly, clearly interested in these news. But he knows not to press further with this asari, and notes to find out more later. "Oh, I'm sorry. I know that's... happpened before." He says, meeting her gaze. "Is Redrock still supplying security here?" He inquires curiously.

Va'ynna nods. "Mhm," she says. "Briggs is, but... others that stay here usually help him when... it's needed." She glances away. "Oh, is there anything I can get you?"

Zaylus | "Hm? Oh, no. No thank you." He replies, giving a small dismissive wave. "I, uh, don't want to keep you, either." He gestures vaguely toward the other patrons. "I won't be long, I'm staying somewhere else. Just wanted to see if you or Jason were around." He smiles somewhat. "Never thought I'd miss this doomed old planet."

Va'ynna smiles slightly. "It's... not a busy night," she says. "And... I'm glad you... thought of coming here for me. I've..." she fidgets a bit. "It's good to see you're... back."

Zaylus holds his smile, nodding. "Yeah, I'm... I'm back." He murmurs, rising slowly. He holds on to the countertop, now at a more equal height with the asari. He peers at her for a moment, giving a slight tilt of the head. "Are you... feeling alright?" He asks, realizing her behavior to seem even more timid and worried than it had before, if that was possible.

Va'ynna frowns, a bit of a sigh escaping her. "Yeah, just...," she begins. "It's been a lot at once." She glances around, but no patron seems to signal for her attention.

Zaylus nods understandingly, "I ought to be on my way." He says, giving a quick look behind him. "It's been good. I'll be around again soon." He says as he pushes off the counter, waving to the Va`ynna as he turns to depart.

Va'ynna nods. "I'll see you again, then," she says, a tiny smile forming again. "Should I tell Jason I've seen you here?"

Zaylus stops momentarily, contemplating this thoroughly. "I suppose, but only if you happen to see him." He says quickly, as if important. "Thanks, Va`ynna." He says sincerely, turning to depart from the bar.

Va'ynna nods, again. "Alright," she says before repeating, "See you." She takes a few steps back, watching over the bar until a patron calls for her attention.
