#Hospital – November 25, 2014
Jason makes his way over to the VI receptionist once Renala has been assisted. "My girlfriend was admitted just now. Vasquez. Where are they taking her?" he inquires.
Va'ynna is in the center hospital bed in a room that resemble the one Jason was in. Her wounds aren't visible. She's attached to monitors for her vital signs and she breathes through a mask.
There's some others there, but only one nurse (asari) around to check on them given that the hospital staff are spread thin trying to accomadate the injured after the attack.
Jason enters the room and gives the nurse an uncomfortable nod before moving over to Va'ynna's side and looking for any sign that she's awake or conscious. "How's she doing?" he asks as he glances at the nurse.
The nurse looks over at him. "The surgery went well," she says. "She will recover. Any more I can't say without the patient's permission."
Jason nods to himself and allows a slight smile to creep up. He reaches down and grabs Va'ynna's hand.
Va'ynna slowly regains conciousnes before her eyes dart open and she gasps, leaning forward rather abruptly. She may not know where she is.
The nurse rushes over to place a hand to gently push her back. "Your surgeon will be with you soon," she says. "You are safe." She takes a step back after the patient calms.
Va'ynna looks between Jason and the nurse, not sure what to say as she is still a little disoriented..
Va'ynna lowers her gaze, looking rather saddened. "It was horrible," she murmurs. "She... she..." She takes a deep breath, but doesn't continue.
Jason gives her hand another squeeze. "It's over now, though. And they say you're gonna be fine." he forces a smile, "Try not to think about any of that right now."
Va'ynna brings up a finger to wipe under her eyes. "How?" she murmurs. "I... can't. It's... not something I can forget."
I know, V. I know. But it's just gonna stress you out. You need to rest right now. Recover. We're taking care of the people responsible. I promise.
Jason sighs and shakes his head. "Because we made a stupid call, V. I'm sorry. This never should've happened. I hope you know I would've never pulled Briggs from the Respite if I thought it would put you in danger. It's just-... It's always so quiet there, and we needed all the people we could get. Was only going to take a couple hours or so. Just bad timing..."
Va'ynna nods, faintly, her eyes watering a bit. "But... he... looked angry at me," she says. "I just... told him to... tell D'Inea."
Jason frowns. "You did the right thing, V. Don't worry, I'll have a talk with him. I'll make sure he treats you with respect."
Va'ynna frowns. "Um, but, he'll... know I told you," she says. "So... why did you all have to leave?"
Jason furrows his brow. "Who gives a shit what he knows. He's making you uncomfortable. I'll talk to him. He needs to stop being an asshole." he insists before answering her question, "Just... Redrock business." he sighs, "Things got a bit out of hand..."
Va'ynna nods slightly, still looking a little nervous. "But..., but he's not always like that," she mutters.
He should never be like that. He's there doing a job. He needs to keep his attitude in check when he's working.
Jason gives a shrug. "Regardless... I'm glad you're safe, V. I hope you'll forgive me for letting this happen. We'll cover the medical expenses. I know that's not much but-... It's all I can really do."
Va'ynna looks thoughtful for a brief moment. "Thank you," she begins, "but... I... I think Miner's Respite will cover that."
Jason smiles in turn and leans in, giving her a gentle hug. "I'll be around, V. But I need to go and see if there's any update on Vasquez. She-... She's in pretty bad shape." he sighs.
Jason releases the embrace and stands up straight. "Yeah-..." he says, looking off to the side, "Me too. She's tough, though. She'll pull through."
Va'ynna nods. "I... hope she does," she says before leaning her head back onto the pillow. "I'll see you."
