#Miner'sRespite – March 13, 2015

It has been five days since a large portion of Redrock departed from Freedom Falls. The Miner's Respite is not entirely back to where it was, but there's quite a few patrons around, though most occupy the booths. The tables in the middle of the room have still not been replaced. Food service is limited to the evening, but some breakfast sandwiches are prepared and sold in the mornings. It is currently mid-afternoon, and there's some (Aylena)

light rainfall outside. (Aylena)

Renala is working on installing a terminal that was removed after the attack, not standing too far away from the bartender. She's wearing her usual getup: leather jacket with a blue top underneath -- a holstered Locust submachine gun can also be seen. (Aylena)

Aylena is standing behind the bar, not currently attending to any patrons. She's wearing a red dress with white trims which, while hugging her figure closely, is not revealing. (Aylena)

Kirill enters the Respite in pretty much the same condition as last time: rundown old grey hardsuit, messy black hair, thick ungroomed beard. He looks as though he hasn't had much sleep lately, but gives a friendly smile as he recognizes the bartender and slowly makes his way over to her. "Hey." he says as he slides onto a stool with a grunt, "Mind if I trouble you for a beer?"

Aylena gets an empty glass. "Not at all," she says and fills it with beer from one of the taps. "How's it going?" She puts the glass on the counter before her.

Kirill tilts his head to one side, then the other, carefully weighing the question. "It's goin'." he finally responds as he reaches out for the glass, "You put any more consideration into what we talked about...? Figured I'd give ya a bit of time to mull it over. Not trying to get on your bad side."

A little. I've had no luck with hiring, which gives me little time for anything between paperwork and serving drinks.

Kirill gives a short chuckle and takes a sip of his beer. "That your way of politely sayin' that you still haven't made up your mind?" he asks.

Aylena nods. "In part, yes," she admits. "I still need to check with the militia what they and their bosses think of your movement. This place has been caught in the crossfire more than it should already."

Kirill gives a nod. "I understand. The Children of Aite have powerful enemies, but our goal is a just one, I give you my word. I'm not askin' you to endorse us. Just a flyer. Someone raises a stink about it, you just let them go right ahead and tear it down." he smiles, "I'll swing back around and put a new one up."

Aylena sighs. "The kind of people raising a stink in here wouldn't be happy with just tearing down fliers," she says.

Renala glances up for a second at the mention of that group. "Kicked out of Adrasteia already, huh?" she asks. "Wouldn't surprise me." She doesn't take her eyes of the terminal while speaking, however. (Aylena)

Kirill glances over at Renala, narrowing his eyes on the asari. "Sorry?" he says, not quite following, "We're doin' the best we can down there. It'll be a long fight, but I promise you... Adrasteia will be in safe hands eventually."

Aylena glances at Renala, but doesn't say anything.

Renala snorts before looking at him. "I'll believe that when I see it. Which I have, but I definitely don't believe you," she says. "Collateral damage won't win you public favor, especially when it's the only kind of damage." (Aylena)

Kirill furrows his brow. "Ma'am, I have no idea what you're talkin' about. The Children of Aite are doin' everything we can to get that city out of that serpent's hands. I don't know what you mean by 'collateral damage'. Granted, you're never gonna get through a struggle like the one we're faced with without a little collateral damage, but we do our damndest to minimize it."

Renala frowns. "Just because there's a chance nobody lived to report it doesn't mean it didn't happen," she says. "I seriously hope you don't have any enemies in this town." She turns back to the terminal, continuing to work on it. (Aylena)

Kirill watches the asari quietly for a few moments, mouth agape. "Now I don't know what you've heard... Or what you thought you saw. But my people are good folks. They fight, and they die so that people like you can keep on livin' your life without scumbags like Cross comin' around and stealin' the land right out from under your feet."

Renala snorts. "Thought I saw? Dismiss it all you want, but I've seen your people in action... and how careless they were about civilian lives." She doesn't take her eyes of the terminal. (Aylena)

Aylena walks over to serve another patron, but is still within earshot of the two.

What do you expect? We're not soldiers. We're not armed thugs. We're farmers. We're mothers. Fathers.

Kirill glances at Aylena. "Bartenders." he continues, "My people would never take an innocent life. But sometimes mistakes are made, I admit that. But that doesn't make our cause any less important."

That's what you could have been. Just like I told the one I tried to talk out of getting killed, this planet is big enough for all of us. (Aylena)

Renala sighs. "You need to really work on your tactics, lashing out on an entire street is not how to kill one person," she says, "It weakens your cause if people don't know if you'll give a shit about them when it counts." (Aylena)

We're trying. Believe me, we're trying. That's why it's important that I post these flyers. Get people involved who know what they're doing. People who can train our men and women...

Kirill sighs and reaches up to rub at his forehead. "We're doing the best we can. But we're up against an enemy with infinitely more resources. People know we care about 'em. We are them."

Renala shakes her head. "You're not them, you're you," she says. "It's up to you to show that you're just not another group seeking power under a pretense. Flyers alone aren't going to do that." (Aylena)

There's not much more we can do. With all due respect, we've bled for the people. We've made a difference. Maybe it hasn't been enough to change the planet, but it's changed a few lives. It's taken us years to get to this point.

Kirill shakes his head, "Like I said, we're not soldiers. We don't get paid for this. We don't get a place to rest our heads in exchange for putting our lives on the line. We suffer many cold nights with empty stomachs. But we do this because we believe in it. People see that. They recognize it. It's the only way we've survived as long as we have. You seem like a smart person. Give

us a chance. Meet with me and a few of my people. We could use someone that knows their way around tech." he says, giving a nod to the terminal Renala's working on.

Renala raises an eyebrow. "Thanks for the offer, but no," she says. "For one, that would be a breach of contract, and secondly, I don't want your enemies without a good reason."

Kirill sighs and stands from his seat. "You already have our enemies." he says plainly as he slides his credit chit across the counter, his beer still half-full, "You just don't know it yet. You take care of yourself." he says with a nod before turning on his heels and moving towards the exit.

Renala nods. "You too," she says before getting back to work on the terminal. Aylena eventually comes around to collect the credit chit.
