#Susanna – April 4, 2015
Steve was totally here during it all. The shouting and the releasing of the cargo hold woke him up. He's now rapidly collecting all his gear out of his locker and slapping it on. "Lost my weapon back planetside. But I'll give you a hand in any way I can."
Philip manages to stop floating helplessly thanks to Ilyna. He grabs a hold of the nearest bunk, which doesn't help much as it too is floating. He seems like he might throw up at any moment.
Mendez wipes at his forehead before yanking the next crate out of the way of the doorway. "I assume you have a plan, Garr?" he asks, "I'm not equipped for exposure."
Leah's search is so far fruitless, with the darkness and the multitude of floating pieces of medical equipment complicating matters. An impact sounds in the corridor outside the infirmary, followed by the scraping of metal.
Ilyna finishes suiting up and puts on her helmet. She then grabs a band with 10 clips from her bag and winds it around her left arm. "I'm ready," she says, closing the near-empty bag and letting it float in place.
Leah glances back at the door, cussing softly under her breath. "C'mon... Get your shit together..." she mutters to herself, "You're a cripple, not useless..." She continues to pull and push herself about the room, hunting for her amp.
Athorus starts coming to, his gaze darting around as he tries to get a bearing. He manages to stabilize himself with the help of a crate and calls out into the dark: "Hello? What's the situation?!"
Mendez grunts as he pushes another crate aside. "Then what are we clearing the door for!? We won't last a minute out there!" he says before glancing in the direction of Athorus' voice. "Athorus? Are you alright? The cargo hold seems to have come uncoupled from the ship. Do you have your omni-tool on you? We need access to comms."
Halisi is tending to Damien, who fell into unconciousness from sheer exhaustion in his injured state.
Athorus tries to shoot himself off towards Garr and Mendez, but his progress is blocked by another crate. "I- Yes, yes, I do!" He brings up his omni-tool, illuminating the immediate area with a faint orange glow. His voice soon comes onto comms: "Hello? This is Korum, I am trapped in the cargo hold with Mendez and the krogan. We need assistance."
Innkeeper is just floating in the passenger module, staring dead ahead - he doesn't seem very optimistic about their survival odds.
Victoria managed to put her armor on while floating about. ''What the hell are we going do about the cargo hold?''
Jasper sighs loudly, "First things first, Vicky. We gotta get control of this ship. Guessin' things didn't go to well 'fer the crew if one a' them infected got into the bridge?" he asks, looking towards Ilyna for confirmation.
Ilyna shakes her head. "The captain is dead, but I haven't seen the pilot yet," she says. "Maybe she's still alive."
Let's hope so. Prolly best if ya go in assumin' the worst, though. Vicky, you able to fly this big sum'bitch?
The distinct sound of a biotic explosion rings through the cargo hold as one of the medium-sized crates splinters into a thousand pieces, spreading the contents - mostly food, across the room along with the crate debris.
Syringe? No. Medigel? No. Bonesaw? No. Pills? No. Datapad? No. The amp has to be somewhere in the mess!
Leah slaps the items away and pushes off of the nearby wall in a huff. She repeats the proccess on the other side of the room, feeling around for any sign of her amp. "Where in the hell did she put it...?"
Victoria scratches her head ''Controls might be a bit different from my former ship, but I can give it a shot.''
Halisi pulls Damien into the passenger module to ensure he's out of harms way before going back into the corridor. "We need to do something."
Jattic finishes with his gear and slaps a thermal clip into his Vindicator. "If the pilot is dead, you may have no choice, human." he growls as he follows Halisi out into the corridor, "If the controls are different, then you'll just need to learn. Quickly."
Victoria mag locks her feet to the floor and starts walking after the rest. ''We could possibly re-attach the cargo hold. But that is gonna be a bit of work.''
Jattic grabs the doorframe and reorients himself in the corridor. "Possibly? There is no 'possibly'. Our people are in that cargo hold. We will pick them up."
Mendez is pushed back slightly by the explosion, but he easily reorients himself. "What caused that?" he asks, looking towards the explosion.
Blobs of fluorescent blue goo have filled the bridge - the dead infectee still floats there, along with the body of the captain.
(Comms) Ilyna here. We're trying to start the ship, but there's infectious liquid in the cockpit. We'll come for you if--when we get it started.
Athorus reels slightly as he was closer to the explosion. He manages to find a grip in the ceiling to stabilize himself. "Damn it! We're not alone."
There is a brief sight of blue glow in the dark of the cargo hold, but it is soon obscured by floating crates.
Steve follows the others out, sealing his helmet in place. "Just keep your mouth shut, Vicky. Should fix everything." he says, "Might even keep the blue shit out of your mouth." He gives a smirk from behind his recon hood.
Ilyna looks towards Halisi. "Can Victoria be in the cockpit?" she asks, "with the liquid being there."
''Well, if I had a helmet I could seal my suit. Might also want those bodies out of the cockpit.'' She states to the others.
Jason gives a nod to his locker. "You're gonna need yours, Ilyna. She can take mine. I won't be needing it back here anyway."
A cargo crate is blasted with considerable force in Garr's direction. The blue glow of the biotics illuminate the crate for a second or two before it becomes pitch-black once more.
Victoria eyes went wide at her new idea and raises her hand ''Is there an airlock near the cockpit? If so we could possibly space that junk.''
Jason groans loudly. "Fuck, you're right... Leah's should be intact, though." He glances towards Halisi, "Did you put her shit back in her locker?"
The crate shatters from the force of Garr's punch, covering him in flour, which also fills the air in a cloud around the krogan.
Mendez pushes away from Garr to give him some room. "Give me some light, Athorus!" he calls out as he begins frantically looking for his shotgun.
Athorus looks for the source of the attack, but upon failing to find it he activates his omni-tool's flashlight and makes his way towards Mendez, dodging past the flailing krogan best he can.
Leah quickly braces herself against the wall. She lifts the back of her hair up with one hand, and slots the amp in with the other. "Now for the door..." she sighs as she begins to pull herself back across the room towards the door.
Jattic sighs and looks between the others. "No. It's fine, Ilyna. I'll sit this one out. With your biotics, you'll be of much more use than I will." he says as he unlatches his helmet, "I expect it back, human. Try not to slobber in it."
Philip is doing his best to hold still, eyes closed and staring at the wall. "Can we please get the gravity back on?"
Jattic releases his helmet, allowing it to float in front of him, and bats it towards Victoria. He passes his Vindicator off to Steve and re-enters the passenger's module. "I suggest you hold on to something and stop your complaining."
Steve takes the rifle with a nod. "Well, let's stop wastin' time. The longer we wait, the further away those guys are gettin'."
Victoria grabs the helmet Jattic batted at her. She puts it on and sees if it can seal with her suit.
Leah stops herself at the door and pushes herself away from it by a few feet. She lifts her arms and puts her hands together as a biotic glow envelopes her. After a moment, she jerks her hands apart, attempting to biotically pull the doors open.
Steve keeps the borrowed rifle lowered as he follows behind Victoria. "So you said there was just one of 'em, right? You sure about that?"
Mendez' shotgun is nowhere to be seen in the mess of flour, chunks of fruit and plastic crate bits. A sudden throw strikes the human with a flash of blue in the dark.
Mendez sails through the air and slams into the wall with a loud grunt. "Fuck! Garr! Where is it!?" he calls out, looking around for any sign of the creature.
The doors to the infirmary groan and bend - eventually a small opening appears between the set of doors, not wide enough to pass through.
Halisi stays back in the corridor as she is without a suit. She seems on high alert, keeping an eye back on the hallway just in case.
Leah lets out a loud sigh and pushes herself towards the doors. She puts her finger tips into the crack and begins attempting to wrench the door the rest of the way open, her biotics flaring up a bit as she does.
Steve shakes his head as nobody bothered to answer him. "Whatever. Not like this is a life or death situation or anything..." he mutters, still following behind Vicky.
Victoria reaches the cockpit ''Well, might be a safe idea to keep an eye on those bodies.'' She makes her way for the pilot seat
The captain lets out a quiet moan as Vicky takes a seat - quite quickly after he reaches out to grab her arm - his eyes are aglow with cybernetics that have already started forming within him.
Ilyna aims her weapon at the captain as she sees cybernetics, but doesn't fire for now in case Steve or Victoria makes a sudden movement.
Steve lifts the borrowed rifle, but doesn't take a shot for risk of hitting Victoria. "Shit... Back off, Vicky!"
Captain Kleiner is punched repeatedly in the face, but is not deterred, floating closer and using his other hand to start trying to pry a piece of her arm armor off.
Victoria drops to the floor and uses her feet to keep the Captain up from falling on her ''SHOOT IT!!!''
Ilyna floats to the side and fires off two shots towards the creature's head after a few seconds of aiming.
Father Marchal comes into view rather suddenly as Leah is in the middle of opening the door. He flashes a smile and reaches through the gap with an arm - something is quite clearly wrong with it, as it bends at places where an arm shouldn't bend - and grabs a hold of Leah's hospital gown, slamming her against the door.
Steve trains his weapon on Captain Kleiner, but awaits the effects of Ilyna's shots before deciding whether to follow up with some of his own.
Leah gets an arm up to protect her head as her entire body slams into the door. She grunts loudly and strikes downward with her other arm, attempting to break the creeps grip on her as she pulls away.
Captain Kleiner is kicked into the ceiling by Victoria, causing Ilyna's shots to miss and ping against the ship's hull instead. He pushes off against the ceiling and comes back at Victoria, arms outstretched and making a metallic growl.
Steve fires a burst of rounds at the Captain upon confirming Ilyna's shots ineffective. "Don't let him get ahold of you, Vicky!"
Ilyna takes a chance to fire off four more shots while the creature is on its way back to Victoria, her aim a bit hasty.
The infected Kleiner is easily brought down by combined fire from Steve and Ilyna, but two of Ilyna's shots strike one of the bridge's computer consoles.
Victoria stands up and pushes the body out of her way. She sits in the pilot's chair and checks to make sure the controls are still use-able.
Steve lowers his rifle and begins sweeping back and forth over the the room with his headlamp, looking for any sign of anymore enemies and to get a layout of the room. "What're we lookin' for in here, Jasper?"
Mendez grunts loudly as he pushes off the wall, aiming towards the last location of the creature. "I'm not just waiting around for this thing to pick us apart."
''We have no power. So if someone wants to go do that.'' She pauses ''And if I have to stay up her can I get a weapon? An assault rifle is not good up here.''
Father Marchal 's grip is surprisingly resistant, despite the fact that she can hear the bones crunching in his arm. He grabs a hold of the door with his other hand and pushes it aside, entering the infrimary while still holding onto Leah, brandishing a wicked-looking black-blue metal spike in his free hand. "You people are all FOOLS. Don't you see you've already LOST?! SUBMIT TO THE REVELATOR AND LIVE!"
Leah grabs his hand and tries to wrench herself free. "We... killed your.... Revelator!" she groans as she struggles to free herself. Not having any luck, she strikes outwards towards Father Marchal, attempting to hit him with a biotic powered punch. At this point, the recent surgery on top of all the previous damage, her biotics are taking a toll on her.
"My best would be an engineering room. Since I cannot turn power on from here." She said as she looks over consoles to see if any other has power.
(Comms) Well... Once ya'll got the bridge secure, 'yer gon' hafta get back to the engine room. So long as 'yer able to maglock 'yerself, it shouldn't be too difficult to get back there.
Steve lets out an exasperated sigh. "How in the hell are we supposed to get the door open without any fucking power?" he asks, not directing it at anybody specifically.
Father Marchal starts chuckling, his voice taking on a metallic tinge as he tilts his head. The biotic punch impacts him, causing him to fly back against the wall, but he doesn't let go of Leah, and so she is janked along with him. He raises the metal spike against her throat. "The Revelator is immortal. Infinite. A god. You destroyed only a shell. An avatar. They are already coming. We will ALL serve... and ascend. Willing or
Ilyna considers it for a few seconds. "I don't know," she says. "I think he powered the doors himself."
Halisi 's eyes go wide as she realizes something. "Leah! She's still in the rear section of the ship!"
Leah lets out a pained groan as she's hurled along with Father Marchal. "You're fucking crazy!" she shouts. She grips his wrist with the hand holding the spike with her left hand to hold it in place and musters up as much biotic energy as she can, slamming her other fist downward on his arm with every ounce of energy she has left in her, hoping to either knock the weapon free or, fuck it, tear his whole arm off!
Leah also definitely can't hear the comms chatter... She meant to slot her omni-tool into her hospital gown, honest, but it must've slipped her mind.
She even concious back there, doctor? We can't just sit around and put all our eggs into one basket. One crippled basket.
Isn't there a crawl space or something we can use to get past where the cargo bay was supposed to be?
Steve sighs. "Fuck it, then. Get inside the bunkroom. Shut the door. Rest of us will get this fuckin' door open even if it means destroying it. We don't have a whole lot of choices right now. Then we just fuckin' pray that we get back to that cargo hold and get it back in place before we're out of breathable air."
Father Marchal 's arm crumbles and tears, flesh flying free along with splinters of bone - a metal joint is all remains. Of course, he still has a grip of her hospital gown with his other hand. The crazed man tries to slam Leah into the floor. "WHY DO YOU RESIST SALVATION?!"
Jasper steps out of the passenger's module. "Hold on a got-dang moment!" he says, waving his arms wildly, "Before we go killin' ourselves by spacin' all the oxygen, just lemme take a few minutes to see how ol' Monroe here got the door open. I'm got-dang engineer! Fixin' problems is what I do!"
Steve stands against the wall. "Shit, if you think you can figure it out, then by all means..." he says.
Victoria remains in the pilot seat and looks around the cockpit for anything that should not be there.
Jasper eyes Steve for a moment before approaching the door panel. "If I think I can figure it-.... Son, you know who 'yer talkin' to? 'Course I can figure it out!" He begins looking over the panel to inspect Monroe's handy work.
Leah reaches back and undoes the clasp on her hospital gown, eager to escape the man's grip on her. She grabs his shoulder and pushes off towards the metal spike, hoping to scoop it out of the air and arm herself with it.
The creature that hides among the crates soon sends a warp at Mendez, but luckily it strikes a crate, tearing and disintegrating one of its walls.
Mendez slaps a hand against the side of the crate to push off of it and avoid the warp, which most likely gave the creature's location away. He attempts to swoop in and tackle it.
The spike is cold to Leah's touch, and it somehow manages to feel heavy despite the lack of gravity - a single, loud note starts to echo inside her head - it feels like something is pulsing through her arm for every moment she holds on to the insidious spike. The Father has retreated into the darkness, and is not visible due to the near-complete lack of a lightsource.
Jasper lets out a whistle. "Clever fella. Looks like he powered the panel with his own omni-tool. Not a bad lil' trick. Alright, anyone got an omni-tool they can spare? Datapad should work, too. It'll take a bit, though, and I ain't sure we got the time. I'm holdin' on to Jattic's tool so we can keep communicatin' with you folks when you set out."
Steve mutters to himself and unslots his omni-tool. He reaches out towards Jasper with it. "This ain't gonna fuck it up or anything, right? That shit is expensive."
Jasper accepts the omni-tool with a shrug. "Depends on it I do it right." he says with a chuckle and begins getting to work on pulling the panel off.
Halisi looks at Jasper. "Wait, are we really doing this? If this doesn't work we'll be left will very little oxygen..."
The creature retreats into cover behind some floating crates as Mendez comes closer, obscuring its light.
Jasper shakes his head. "It ain't like we're gon' just leave the door open. One of ya'll is gon' have to stay behind and operate the door. What's important now is that you folks figure out how 'yer gon' get the door open at the tail end of the ship."
Leah swings towards Father Marchal's last location as she gets a grip on the spike before realizing he's no longer there. Her arm begins to shake slightly. "What the fuck are you doing to me, you fucking freak!?" she calls out.
Mendez crashes into the crate with little regard for what damage he may do. He begins shoving and kicking crates out of the way, using Athorus' light to search for the little fucker.
Steve glances over at Ilyna. "You got any ideas about gettin' that other door open? Warp? Somethin' like that?"
Father Marchal suddenly comes at Leah from behind, grabbing her arm with his and trying to force the spike closer to her chest, while wrapping the broken metal arm around her throat to hold her in place. His speech is no longer coherent - there is simply an enraged metallic growl.
Jasper mimes Monroe's work in using the omni-tool to power the panel. "Now, 'yer gon' need to do your damndest to make some noise once you get across to the other side, you understand? Leah is over there. Can't jus' yank the doors open, she won't survive that. Do whatever you can to try an' get her attention. Once she's on her feet, I'm sure she'll get in contact with us. We need her back in her gear 'fore ya'll suck all the air
Ilyna shakes her head. "I can do a throw," she says, "but no warp... and he has a point. Maybe we could break in on the airlock?"
Steve sighs. "And then what? We're still going to need to break our way in without any power. If we damage the airlock, then we're still in the same position as if we enter through the cargo bay's door."
Maybe Jasper could instruct you on how to do that with an omni-tool, so we only open the door on the inside of the airlock for a short moment.
Jasper continues to work for a few moments before the door's panel lights up green. "Eh... It ain't too difficult. Just take a picture. Wire 'er up jus' like this an' the omni-tool will act as a power source. From there, just activate the panel like normal. How many omni-tools ya'll got?" he asks, glancing between the others, " 'Yer gon' need to keep one for comms."
Leah reaches over with her free hand and grips her wrist, attempting to wrench the spike away slightly before simply releasing her own grip on the spike as she realizes the man is only holding her arm. She lashes back with her head, trying to slam it into her attacker's face.
You said Leah's gear is back there, right doctor? We could always use Ilyna's to get the airlock open, damage the inner door, then make our way to Leah's gear to get back on comms. How's that sound?
Father Marchal 's grip loosen when Leah's skull smashes into his face - he retaliates by shoving her away and aiming a punch at her face, but is interrupted as Karana comes shooting from the doorway, tackling the man and sending the two of them flying out into the dark end of the infirmary.
Ilyna nods. "Sounds good to me," she says, "but it'd be better if we could borrow another omni-tool."
Leah slowly floats across the room until she's stopped by the wall beside the door. She attempts to capitalize on the temporary interruption by pushing off towards the cabinets and jerking them open in search of her weapon, or any sign of her gear. "Keep him busy!" she shouts.
Leah's gear is all there, thankfully. The sounds of Karana's struggle with Marchal can be heard quite clearly from the dark.
Leah grabs her Mattock and omni-tool. She doesn't particularly have anywhere to put the omni-tool at the moment, so she simply activates it and enables her comms before releasing her grip on it, allowing it to float beside her which causes an orange glow to fill the room as it slowly spins in place. "Does anybody read me!? The power is out back here and I need some backup! Quick!"
Karana can be faintly seen in the glow of the omni-tool, pressed against the ceiling of the infirmary, with Father Marchal smashing his fist repeatedly into her face.
Ilyna gets on her comms. "Is that you, Leah?" she says. "We're still in the front of the ship, but we're about to go outside. We'll have to break in once we get there, though."
Jason hurries over to his locker and jerks it open, allowing all the contents to spill out and float about aimlessly as he scoops his omni-tool out of the air. "Rig mine up to the door." he says as he returns and hands it off to Ilyna, "If you use bot-..." he pauses as Ilyna begins to speak to Leah. "Is she alright?"
Leah raises her Mattock, pressing the stock against her shoulder, and fires at Father Marchal. Due to her omni-tool being activated, the gunshouts would undoubtedly ring out over comms. "Well don't take your time! Father Marchal turned into one of those freaks! I think he killed the engineer!"
Ilyna takes Jason's omni-tool and secures it within her armor. "The cult leader has turned, and is back there," she says. "We have to hurry." She enables her comms. "We'll set off immediately, then. Is the hallway sealed, or do we need to break into the airlock?"
Father Marchal turns to look at Leah, his eyes alight with blue cybernetics and his face carrying a feral expression. He takes several shots from the Mattock but shoots off from the wall towards Leah - only to be stopped by the snarling batarian behind him.
Leah squeezes the trigger a handful of times more, aiming for the would-be attackers chest. More shots ring out over comms.
Jason cusses loudly. "Just get over there! See if she's suited up. If so, you can go right through the cargo hold, right?"
Father Marchal wriggles and snarls, but his movement is slowing as blood oozes from his many gunshot wounds. Eventually the light goes out in his eyes and he floats lifelessly.
Karana groans from pain but pushes herself from the ceiling towards the door. "Rgh... have to... restore power."
Leah puts a few more in the fucker for good measure. "Yeah, yeah, I'm here, doc. I'm fine. For now, at least. Do we know if there's more of those bastards onboard!?" She turns back to the cabinet and pulls her undersuit free and begins to slip into it, struggling a bit without the use of her legs. "Where are you going?" she asks the batarian, which would also be heard over comms.
Ilyna enables her omni-tool and taps a few buttons, and her feet stick to the ground. She also set her comms as always-on, but the threshold-filter keeps her breathing from being heard. After disabling her omni-tool, she starts walking towards the door.
Karana grunts. "The engine room! Have to reset the reactor! I'm gonna restore power!" She has disappeared into thedarkness of the corridor.
Steve activates his magboots as well. "I'll stay behind and get the door." he says to Ilyna. "Be careful out there." he looks towards the others, "Get back. I'll shut the door behind you."
Jason gives a nod and takes a couple steps backwards, back into the passenger's module. "Good to go. Keep in touch, Ilyna." he urges.
