Steve continues his gear organizing, shouting to be heard through the wall separating him from Renala. "Well, like I said... You just gimme the word and I'll let him know you're interested."

Renala sits down on the kitchen counter, looking over the room. "Let's not promise anything before i return," she says. "Anyway, I think we should invite some people from the agency over when we get set up in here."

Steve pokes his head out of the doorway. "Uhh.... okay." he agrees with a nod. A short pause passes before he raises an eyebrow, "....What for?"

I haven't seen too many of them in a while because of my work, and they've hired some new people.

Steve gives a slow nod. "...Right. And.... you want to see them....?" he asks, seeming somewhat confused as though that can't be right.

Renala raises an eyebrow. "Why not?" she asks. "Is there something I should know about my colleagues?"

Steve gives a shrug, stepping out through the doorway. "Aside from the fact that a large portion of 'em are jackasses that couldn't tell their own ass from a hole in the ground?" he asks, although there's a smirk on his face, "Nah." He glances around with a nod, fumbling with the shoulder pauldron in his hands, "Sure, I guess. Bit of a house warmin' party?"

Renala nods. "Something like that," she says. "What makes you think they're that bad?"

Steve gives a shake of his head. "Nah... I mean, they're alright, I'm sure. I'm jus' givin' ya a hard time. So? When ya think we should do this? After this next job?"

Renala chuckles. "I can't imagine the bosses being happy if people showed up for work with a hangover," she says. "None of our off-world missions so far have been low-risk, and I doubt this one is any better."

Steve gives a nod, glancing down at his piece of gear. "Good point... It'll give us time to get a screen up in here, too. Can't have guests without entertainment, right?"

Renala nods and stands back up. "Yeah, maybe get a few of them to help us out, too," she says. She starts making her way over to her room.

Steve follows Renala over towards the door to her room and leans against the doorframe. "You sure you don't mind this?" he asks, giving a nod towards her bed, "Suppose I just sorta claimed ownership of the other room without talkin' it out. I really don't care, if the two beds is too much hassle, we can swap."

Renala shrugs. "It's no problem, really," she says. "I'm not a maiden taking home a new bedmate every other day, and I'm still taking a break from the whole family-starting thing." She walks inside and opens up one of the bags, taking out a plastic bag.

Steve chuckles. "Well, I'll make sure to leave a sock tucked between the door if I've got any late night visitors." he jokes with a wink.

Renala smirks. "Try not to make too much noise when you're at it," she jokes in turn. She takes the plastic bag and walks towards the kitchen.

Steve steps out of the asari's way. "Hey, no promises." he teases, "But, you know, being the gentleman that I am-..." he nods, "...I'll do my best to try."

Renala carefully empties the plastic bag on the counter, and opens the fridge. There's some stuff to put on a sandwitch, a half loaf of bread, and a few cans of beer among the contents probably taken with her from the Respite. "Good," she says with a grin. "Won't stop me from judging anyone I see come through here, though."

Steve tilts his head to the side. "Judging? I assure you, I have nothing but the best of taste." he says, taking a few steps backwards into the hallway until he reaches his bedroom doorway. He underhands the pauldron onto the bed and returns to the kitchen and leans against the counter.

Renala keeps putting food items into the fridge in an orderly manner. "We'll see about that," she says.

Steve watches Renala with a smirk on his face. "So?" he finally says after a few moments of silence, "Any idea where we can go to furnish this place a bit more?"

Renala closes the fridge, and turns to Steve. "There's an Elkoss place in town, I think," she says. "I can't think of anything they're not dealing in."

Steve gives a nod. "I ain't too picky. Maybe we oughta go check it out the next time we've both got some more downtime. When I ain't got a shift to prepare for, and you've had some of that beauty sleep."

Renala nods. "I can do some recon while I'm out grabbing something to eat," she says, "but I won't make any decisions without you around."

Steve gives a shrug. "I ain't gonna be upset if ya do. Like I said, I ain't too picky. If you want me to come with ya, I'll come with ya. If ya wanna handle it on your own, tell me how much I owe when you're done." he says with a chuckle, "So long as the shower works and the bed don't feel like a sack of rocks, I'm A-OK."

Renala | "Thankfully I won't have to pick out either of those," she jokes. "I can look around on my own when I get the time, and run the ones I like by you."

That works. You much of a TV buff? Vid junky? I don't think we've ever... talked about this stuff.

Steve shrugs, "Suppose we'll prolly get to know a whole lot more 'bout each other than we ever wanted to know." he smirks.

Renala smirks. "Mhm," she says. "You did warn me, though, didn't you?"

Steve 's smirk slowly fades away. "Oh..." he says softly, "...So... Programs?" he continues, trying to bring the subject back around to TV, "Watch anything specific?"

Renala thinks for a moment. "Not really, but I enjoy a vid sometimes, and checking the news," she says. "A word of warning, don't watch anything portraying the stuff I do with me. You'll regret it."

Steve raises an eyebrow. "I ain't followin', Ren. Whaddya mean?"

Vids don't often get tech right, and having to point out how wrong they are is like an itch for me.

Steve opens his mouth, as if he's just understanding what she meant, "Ohhhh..." he sings before cocking an eyebrow at the woman and shifting against the counter. "You're one of those types." he groans. But his smile quickly returns, "I'll keep that in mind. Sometimes ya just gotta-..." he pantomimes turning a dial on the side of his head, "...turn off your brain for a couple a' hours

and enjoy some dumb entertainment, Ren."

Renala chuckles. "Don't worry. I'm mostly exaggerating," she says. "Mostly."

Steve repeats her words, "Mostly. Uh huh..." He gives a chuckle in turn which slowly turns to a sigh, "Thinkin' 'bout finally gettin' my armor painted. Been plain and borin' for far too long now. Just gotta come up with a color scheme."

Renala hums thoughtfully. "How about... camuflage?" she says, not sounding too serious. "I've still got to get mine painted, but I've been changing in and out of it at work since... you know."

Steve raises an eyebrow at her suggestion. "Camouflage ain't a color scheme, ya know, it's a-... a-..." he gestures with his hands until he finds the word, "...a pattern! I need colors. But, yeah... You should really take care a' yours, too. Twitches mom don't seem like the type that'd take too kindly to someone takin' her shit."

Renala frowns. "I think she's seen me in the armor," she says, "but she hasn't acted strange when I'm downstairs... I mean, different to before."

Steve shrugs. "Maybe she didn't see ya. It's possible, right? You were already in the shuttle before she came stormin' outta her house...?"

I was getting into the car when I heard her shout. My armor doesn't stand out too much, though, and I had my helmet on.

Steve tosses his hands up in another shrug. "See? There ya go. Prolly ain't nothin' to worry 'bout. Like I told ya before, though. Get it done for the sake of coverin' your tracks and send the bill my way. I'll make sure you're all squared up."

Renala nods. "Do you think I'll be able to get it done before work today?" she says. "It's been ages since I've done this, and I'd rather not be without armor when Jason summon us for the mission."

Steve tilts his head to one side, then the other. "I don't know about before work today, but it shouldn't take too long. I'm gonna drop mine off on my way to work and pick it up the next mornin'. Unless Jason plans on hittin' us with a call hours before we're leavin', then we should be fine."

Renala considers it for a moment. "I could just bring my jacket with the shields if it's not done," she says. "I haven't had a single incident since I started taking these shifts anyway."

Steve gives a nod. "Suppose I ain't that lucky, but-..." he shrugs, "It ain't like things ever get too dangerous at the Respite. Should be fine to go a day without the armor."

Renala chuckles. "Well, there was that weird girl trying to bring a huge mech into the bar, and an asari that threw the owner at a krogan, and that in the time I was stepping in for you."

Steve frowns. "Think positive thoughts, Ren. I ain't ready to catch a round in the noggin', yet."

Renala smirks. "I'm not known for my positive thoughts," she says, and starts walking towards her room before turning around. "Did that asari ever return for a rematch?"

Steve gives a shake of his head. "Not yet." he says, "Wonder if that plays into our girl runnin' off like she did..."

Renala frowns. "Maybe, Aylena wasn't keen on talking about her time before coming here. In fact, she told me nothing about it when I asked to make small talk," she says. "All I know about her is that she's got daughters aroudn my age. I'm guessing she's hiding from her past, and it's catching up to her."

Steve lets out a deep breath. "Who ain't hidin' from their past out here? That's practically what this place is for. It wouldn't surprise me. Ol' girl seems to have a lot of secrets up her sleeve."

Renala nods. "She's almost twice as old as I am, I think," she says, "so of course she has secrets."

Steve whistles, "Damn... twice as old as you. And you certainly ain't young." he jabs with a smirk on his face.

Renala mocks a hurt expression. "What a flatterer," she comments. "I'm young... for a matron."

Steve puts his hands up defensively, "I didn't mean nothin' by it! Ain't nothin' as valuable as experience, darlin'."

Renala smirks. "I know you didn't," she says. "Besides, matrons are the best asari company, for the... valuable experience." Definitely no bias there. She turns around and makes her way over to her room to continue unpacking.

Steve raises an eyebrow and leans a little heavier against the counter. "That so...?" he asks with a big grin.

Renala starts taking out clothes from the bag, folding them and putting it on the bed. "Of course," she says. "I woudln't have been with one for decades if not."

Steve finds himself tempted to push for more details, but he resists and simply shakes his head. "Alright, that's enough of that." he says with a sigh, "I need to get goin' if I'm gonna drop my armor off and make it in on time for my shift..."

Renala nods. "Give Twitches my regards," she says, not sounding all that serious.

Steve heads back into his room and begins collecting his armor, placing it into a sort of canvas bag that was in his crate. "Oh, yeah. You know it. 'Cause we're on suuuuch good terms."

Renala chuckles. "I know," she says. "You should fix that."

Steve stuffs his undersuit into the bag on top of the rest and tucks his helmet under his arm. "Yeah, I'll get right on that." he says sarcastically as he stops in Renala's doorway. "Get yourself some sleep. I'll catch up with you la-... well, whenever we're both home, I guess." he says with a chuckle.

I'll see you around.

Steve gives the asari a wink and heads out the front door.
