Jackie sits at the bar, her husky curled up contentedly at her feet as it's owner sips her drink, eyes apparantly staring off into the distance, a soft smile sitting on her lips.

Leah steps into the Respite with her hands in her pockets, eyes on the ground. Dressed in a pair of jeans, a white shirt and a dark green canvas jacket, she drags her clunky black boots across the ground, walking with just about the least enthusiastic gait possible. It's not until she gets about half way across the room that she notices the odd sight at the bar. Her scowl evens out

a bit as she looks on in disbelief. Is that a dog? No way! She perks up a bit, quickening her pace as she approaches the two. "I'm so sorry, but he is so adorable!" she nearly squees, looking over the doggy, "Where did you get him!?" ...Where can I get one!?

Jackie sat in a plain looking set of clothes, white t-shirt under a black zip up hoodie and a pair of jeans. She chuckles as she hears the enthusiastic voice behind her. "Well it's a she," She says, turning her attention to the general vicinity of the voice. "And I got Tracer here back on Earth." She reaches down and gently strokes the dog's fur, who stands up,

studying the approaching human and standing slightly closer to allow for petting, apperantly knowing well how to react to that kind of human action.

Leah lowers into a crouch and wastes no time getting her pet on. "She!" she corrects, running her fingers through the dogs fur, "Mostly just see varren out here. You're a long way from home, yes you are!" she says, although the goofy voice and strange enthusiasm implies that she's probably talking to the dog rather than Jackie. She seems to quickly realize that she's making a scene

and stands back up, looking around the bar somewhat self consciously. "Shit, sorry. I probably shouldn't just go touching your dog like that." she apologizes as she takes a seat beside the woman, "She's just so cute!" Her eyes remain fixed on Tracer for a few more moments with a large smile, probably the first time she's smiled in days, until the bartender swings around. "Just a glass

of water." she orders.

Tracer revels in the attention, happily taking all the petting with her tongue out and eyes closed. "Oh no, there's no reason to apologize, she knows how to respond to friendly strangers. Unfriendly ones too, but she's good at telling the difference." When her attention giver goes to sit beside her owner, Tracer takes a seat between the two seats to split

the difference.

Leah leans over and gives the dog another pat upon getting proper permission. "That's great. How is she doing out here?" she asks, "She adapting well?" Something seems to pop into her head suddenly, her eyes widening a bit, "Oh! Leah!" she offers, extending a hand towards the woman as she uses her other to brush some hair back behind her ear.

Jackie smiles. "We're both adapting all right, it's only been a few days, but it's quite a bit quieter out here than back in the big city where we're from, which I think she appreciates." She smiles politely at the greeting. "Grey, Jackie Grey. Good to meet you." Despite her friendly greeting, she makes no motion to shake her new acquaintence's hand, as though

she didn't even notice it.

Leah continues to watch Jackie for a few more moments with her hand out awkwardly. Eventually she pulls it back and looks at her hand to make sure there's nothing on it. "Oh... Right." she says, scrunching up her nose, "Well, nice to meet you, Jackie. So just a few days? Are you staying here at the Respite?"

Jackie chuckles and shakes her head. "Nah, I'm out here permanently. At least that's the plan, we'll see how it goes." She takes another sip of her drink, setting it down and leaning back slightly. "So do you live out here? Anything I should know about the place?"

Leah raises an eyebrow and leans an elbow against the counter as she considers the second question. "Yep, I live here. Well, not here here." she taps the counter, "But here. I've got a place right on the edge of town." She raises her shoulders and lets them droop down in a shrug, "Suppose it's a good idea to get a job as soon as you can. It's not a bad place, but you need to make

sure you can pay your bills. People are a lot less lenient out here."

Jackie nods with a slight smile. "Yeah, I got that idea from my landlord. But I've got a decent resume, still applying, but I shouldn't have trouble finding a place to work." She sips her drink once more, hand sliding along the countertop to find the glass before bringing it to her lips. "And what do you do? If you don't mind me asking."

Leah cocks an eyebrow at the motion. Poor woman, can barely even pick up her drink. Doesn't even have a job yet and she's already getting shitfaced. She glances over at the staircase, losing focus on the woman for a moment as she lets out a sigh. Why did she even come here? This place is just a bad reminder. She sulked in her seat a bit and rested her chin on her hand, propping it

up on the counter. "I work for Redrock Agency. Security agency here in town."

Jackie grins. "So, mercenary then?" She asks, leaning in slightly to say it as if it's some big secret. She finishes off her drink and sets it aside, politely turning down the bartender as she comes by again. "So are you from here originally, Leah?"

Leah frowns and sulks even more. "Not really a mercenary... I prefer.... security." she says, "But no, I've lived her for a while now, but I've moved around quite a bit for most of my life. Got to see allllll that the galaxy had to offer." she forces a smile, attempting to make it sound more glamorous than it actually was.

Jackie smirks slightly at the use of the word 'see', but doesn't aknowledge it. "Well either way it's a good way to make a living." She taps her fingers on the bar a few times. "Are you okay?" She asks, after a moment of internally debating whether she should ask or not. "You sound... down."

Leah 's smile turns to a frown and deepens for a moment before she attempts to straighten up her posture. "Me? Yeah, I'm fine." she lies. She shrugs and lets out a sigh, "Just... one of those weeks, ya know? Coming off a pretty bad injury and having a few-..." she shakes her head, attempting to shut down her rant before it starts, "...just one of those weeks." she repeats.

Jackie nods, her expression turning sympathetic even while still not quite making eye contact with her conversation partner. "I understand. When things are rough they're rough. Hope you feel better."

Leah seems to perk up a bit at the woman's sincerity. "Thank you." she says. She waves the bartender over and puts in an order for a couple of sandwiches to go before turning back to the woman. "What did you do before you came here?" she asks, leaning over to idly pat the dog once more, "If you don't mind me asking?"

Jackie smiles at the change of topic. "Secretarial work mostly. I worked in a few different places, but I'm pretty good with organization of digital data, as well as talking to people. At least I like to think so, haven't heard many complaints yet." She chuckles. "Or everyone could just be being nice to me, who knows."

Leah gives a shrug. "You seem like good people to me." she says, continuing to pet the dog. "Now, I don't wanna get you into any trouble, but-..." she leans in a bit, glancing to make sure the bartender is out of earshot, "What'd you have to do to get them to let you bring this beautiful creature in here?"

Jackie chuckles, reaching down and giving the dog a soft stroke of it's fur. "I just had to tell the bartender she was friendly, and that I got around a lot easier with her to guide me. The way she said it made me think this place doesn't really have a policy on pets, but apperantly someone brought in a pretty mean varren a while ago, so she was understandably

unsure."

Leah furrows her brow. "Get aro-..." she shakes her head as it dawns on her, "Oh! I'm an idiot. Of course. Sorry." she frowns. She tucks a few loose strands of hair behind her ear before giving a shrug, "That's awesome though! That you don't-... you know... Let that keep you from coming all the way out here. Getting around. Having a few drinks at the bar." After a brief pause she

puts her hand up, "Oh shit, that was offensive, wasn't it? I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. Of course you can get around! You're awesome!" she bowed her head a little lower to look at the dog, "And you're awesome too, Tracer! Yes you are! Yes you are!" she continues as she patted the dog a few more times, "....And-... Uhhh... Yeah! You don't need to see this place anyway. Just

a boring old bar. You're probably better off getting around than I am! My dad always says I should have a map tattooed on the back of my hand because I could get lost walking to the bathroom." she chuckles awkwardly, "But here you are, getting to and from-... places. Doing stuff all on your own. Awesome." she nods, "Awesome." She glances off to the side and sighs, "I'm ranting again...

Aren't I?"

Jackie keeps a slightly exasperated smile on her face as the human raves about her awesomeness and that of her dog. She lets the woman talk herself out, while Tracer happily soaks up the petting. "Thanks, I guess." She says with a little chuckle, nodding her head. "I ah... yeah, it's not really something I think much about anymore." She says, scratching the back

of her head, feeling awkward. She never quite knew what to say to this kind of line of conversation, although she seemed to end up dealing with it rather often.

Leah nods a few times, realizing she's probably put the woman in an uncomfortable position and winces slightly. "So... Music?" she asks, attempting to change the subject without much of a segway, "If you like music, there's a club just down the street. This place is great and all, but they play a lot of good music over there. Good place to just get a table and soak it all in. And

dance." She tilts her head to the side, "Ca-.... Do you dance?"

Jackie chuckles. "Clubs, no not really my thing. I do love my music, but I prefer it just at home with my headphones. Clubs have... too many people, and the music is too loud to really hear what's around me." She grins slightly and tilts her head back. "Dancing... well, a little. A friend of mine back in Cape Town showed me a bit, just couple dancing and stuff.

I'm okay when I have someone to lead me."

Leah sighs and nods along. Not hearing what's around her is exactly what she's needed lately. "Yeah... Not really my thing either, to be honest." she admits with a shrug, "But when I need to get out of the house, Club Cobalt isn't too bad. There's a few gems around town, just gotta look for them."

Jackie smiles and nods. "Yeah, I'm still learning the place, there's actually a few hiking trails around here that Tracer's grown pretty fond of." She grins and scratches her dog behind the ears. "We lived pretty much in the middle of the city, so all this nature is kinda pleasing her."

Leah gives a short chuckle. "I bet. Gets to be nice and free out here, don't ya?" she asks, giving a look down at Tracer, "It's a bit of a walk for me to get this far into town, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's beautiful out there. Quiet. Nobody around to bother you." She nods to herself a few times, "I've had a lot of homes, but Freedom Falls will probably be one of the

more memorable ones." She lowers her head a bit as she realizes just how true her statement is, for all the wrong reasons.

Jackie chuckles a little, stroking her dog's fur once more. "That's a pretty glowing recommendation there, Leah." She says with a little grin, before setting a chit on the bar and standing up. "Hey, before I go... would you mind if I felt your face? Just to get an idea for what you look like. I know, it's super weird."

Leah 's eyes widen a bit. "Oh-..." she stutters as she considers it for a moment. "Uhh..." she chuckles nervously as she stands from her stool with a shrug of her shoulders, "Sure, why not?" She frowns and furrows her brow at the woman, "Unless this whole blind thing was all just a ploy to get close enough to jam your thumb into my eye." she teases, her smirk returning. She takes a

step towards the woman, folding her hands in front of her, "So how does this work? Do I-... uhh... do anything?"

Jackie chuckles. "Man that would be elaborate. Almost makes me wish I could see just so I could do that." She smiles softly. "It's okay, just hold still, it'll only take a couple seconds." She slowly brings her hand up to the woman's face, orientating by where she heard the voice eminating from. Her hand gracefully and gently traces along the woman's face,

doing a thorough physical scan, her face thoughtful as she does. Finally she brings her hand back down to her side, to take upher dog's leash. "Not bad." She says with a little smile. "Thanks for that, it's a lot easier to organize people in my brain if I have an idea of how they look."

Leah stands completely still, a bit uncomfortable by the physical contact, but she holds a smile through it all. "Suppose that makes sense." she says with a nod before scrunching up her nose, "Hey! Whaddya mean 'not bad'?" she says with a mock tone of offense. She gives an exaggerated frown, but quickly realizes the woman won't be able to see it. "I'm frowning." she whispers, "It's

a-....... I'm just.... joking." her voice quietly trails off as she realizes it's not very funny.

Jackie chuckles and rolls her eyes. "It's my eyes that don't work, not my sense of humor." She says, grinning and nodding to the woman. "Good to meet you, Leah, hope to run into you again." She says, Tracer already leading her out of the bar.

Leah raises her hand, propping herself up on the outer soles of her boots as she gives a small wave. "Yeah-... me too! I'm here every now and then, soooo-..." she shrugs her shoulders. An excited grin crosses her face as she watches the dog leave the bar. 'I think I just made a friend.' she thinks to herself proudly, but that pride quickly turns to fear. 'Oh no... I think I just made

a friend.' Once the woman is out of view, she collects the food she ordered and pays her bill before setting off back towards her home, her eyes glued to the ground for the duration of her walk.
