#FreedomFalls – September 17, 2015
Va'ynna steps outside and looks around. "The... markets nearby," she says. "When I was... shopping with a friend."
Shyva'Nahl nods and lets out a little "hm." "Noted." she says before looking down the street and chosing a direction. For once, she decides to lead. "A-apparently its c-cold today." she says, trying to make conversation. More like trying to keep her mind of certain things, but that's how it seems to go for Quarians these days. At least, the ones in the colonies, from Shyva's experience.
It's only going to get colder, I've heard. I... haven't been here long enoguh to see how the winter can be, though.
Va'ynna looks around. "So, what... is it you need to put off your mind?" she asks, "if... you don't mind me asking."
Shyva'Nahl looks over her suited arm and lets out an amused huff. "T-Thank goodness f-for climate control." she says, then looks at Va'ynna, eyes a little wider. "T-That obvious?" she asks, then sighs. "I g-guess you'd know more a-about this t-than I w-would. Y-You and Victoria are... t-together, right?" she asks. "W-Well... I'm s-sure she goes on j-jobs she can't tell you about, well, I'm
Va'ynna nods, and gestures to go along the street to the east. "We are, and... she was supposed to go on the... job with Jason," she says, "but... she instead was tasked with moving collegues to and from jobs around... this town." She pauses, and frowns. "I... I was very worried for her when they were gone for ten days on the... last job, so I... know how that feels."
Shyva'Nahl sighs and nods. "The p-people we choose to b-be with... pity t-their middle names are 'danger', right?" she lets out a small chuckle, albiet a nervous one. "Well... victoria always c-comes back, it s-seems. I h-have no r-reason to b-believe Pip won't. P-Plus she h-has a badass Mech o-on her side, wherever they a-are."
Va'ynna smiles slightly. "Mhm, that's... true," she says, "but... that means we'll have someone to stand up for us." She starts walking towards the west, following the pavement. "Almost all... my friends works for Redrock Agency, so... Victoria being home doesn't stop me from worrying, but they... always come home in the end." She pauses, tilting her head. "Is... Pip working for them, too?"
Shyva'Nahl gives a mere shrug. "I t-think so. She m-mentioned it, b-but you n-never know." She shakes her head a little as they walk. She's not making a big deal about not making eye contact with people, which probably means this is very important to her. "I t-trust Pip, so... I b-believe she is working with the Agency." The quarian gives a confident nod. "Its j-just dangerous." Shyva looks
Va'ynna looks thoughtful for a few seconds. "Not as I... can remember," she says, "but... I've had a... hectic month with D'Inea leaving and... all that." She pauses. "Redrock Agency.. takes good care of their people, so... she's probably safe."
Shyva'Nahl nods slowly, rubbing her upper arm. "P-Probably." she says. "Well... if at least one Red Rock comes back... I'll at least get some... closer..." She shakes her head more aggressively. "B-Bad thoughts. S-Shouldn't think like that. S-She'll be fine." Shyva gulps and tries to nudge the subject elsewhere. "S-So how are things with you and V-Victoria?"
Va'ynna raises an eyebrow, but decides not to clear up her confusion about what she meant. "It's... going as well as it can go, I suppose," she says. "I... work most of the day every day, and she... is busy planning a mission to take back something that was stolen from her."
Shyva'Nahl blinks and raises both eyebrows at Va'ynna, even if they can just barely be seen. "Something s-stolen? Must've been important." she says. "Wish I c-could help, but I d-doubt I could be much help." But Pip might... who knows. "A-At least you t-two still make some t-time for one a-another, f-from what I've s-seen at least."
Va'ynna nods. "She... even stepped in for me at the bar when... it was just me working there," she says. "I'm not sure... how well that went, but... she didn't tell me about anytihng bad happening." She is quiet for a few seconds before adding, "I... feel bad for all the times I've rejected her before, though."
Shyva'Nahl can't help but huff in amusement. "I d-don't think those times y-you rejected her m-matter anymore, do they?" she asks. "I m-mean, you two are together now, t-that's what counts." she reaches out and pats Va'ynna's shoulder. "You t-two are cute together."
Va'ynna blushes, and looks away for a moment. "I... suppose you're right," she says, "because they didn't matter much to her." A short giggle escapes her.
Shyva'Nahl chuckles in return. "Mm, p-persistant, I take it." she says as they turn a corner. "I l-like her. S-She's a bit... f-forward and... intimidating, but s-she's a decent person. D-definitely not the most initimidating person I've run i-into at the Respite, I'll t-tell you that." she rolls her eyes a little. "G-Good thing they've asked me to not clean their rooms."
Va'ynna follows around the corner. "She... can be, and I was unsure about her when... I first met her," she says. "I... remember doing housekeeping before you were hired. Few people... seems to opt for it during short stays. D'Inea told me they don't trust housekeeping out here, though."
Shyva'Nahl nods slowly. "Ah, s-so its not j-just me then." she says, knowing all about the Quarian stereotype out here. "At l-least I get to stick t-to spilt b-beer and the odd drop of b-blood nowadays, and n-not s-somebody's personal effects." She shudders a little. "N-Never thought I'd get used to cleaning up b-blood. A-After that sh-shootout... it got e-easier."
Va'ynna frowns. "I... I will never get used to those dangers," she says, "even if... I have ended up in the middle of them." She sighs. "And blood make me... nauseus, so... I wouldn't be able to clean it up."
Shyva'Nahl looks up at her again. "T-That's why I'm here. To me they're just... stains. I d-don't think of where they came from, just how to get rid of them and make e-everything s-sparkly c-clean again." They turn another corner, heading back towards the Respite. "Makes t-things easier if you try to... d-disconnect ourselves from it."
Va'ynna nods. "I... understand, but that sounds... easier said than done," she says, then looks thoughtful as she tries to change the topic slightly. "I... guess your day could be worse, Jason could sign up his room for housekeeping. That would be cruel... to you."
Shyva'Nahl rolls her eyes and nods. "T-The day that happens is t-the day I h-hand in my 2-week's notice and use all m-my vacation time..." she mumbles. "C-Can't imagine w-what he does w-with all junk he t-takes up there. I s-see it go up, b-but I never see it come down!"
Va'ynna tilts her head. "Maybe... I will have to do it, then," she says with a frown. "I'll... make sure to blame you for it." A giggle follows and she covers her mouth, her tone doesn't imply she's all that serious.
Shyva'Nahl snickers after covering her mask's filter. "I'll b-be sure to h-head off world to a-avoid the lynch-mob." she says as they get closer to the Respite.
Va'ynna tilts her head. "I... I won't harm you," she says. "I'll tell everyone how... mean that was, but... that's it." She then adds a mutter of, "I... can't guarantee what they'll do, though."
Shyva'Nahl smirks. "Victoria on the o-other hand..." she mumbles as they get to the front door. "Dunno if s-she'd stop at anything to f-find the people who are m-mean to you." She opens the door to the Respite for Va'ynna.
Va'ynna smiles. "I... don't doubt that," she says, stepping inside and turning towards her. "Thanks, though. for coming with me." She looks at the bar afterwards. "I'll have enough time to... bother Tioran for news about the agency before getting back to work."
Shyva'Nahl nods with a smile. "A-Any time, j-just come find me." she says, then looks towards the kitchen. "In t-that case... I'm gonna go see if t-there are any nutrient packs around... seeya!" and with that, she gives Va'ynna a brief hug and scurries off to the kitchen.
