#FreedomFalls – September 17, 2015
Ethos had decided that there was no reason to give up the gifts that he'd been given over the years even if he chose not to use them anymore. The local gym would prove a worthy place for him to go, a cathartic way to start his penance. He was hanging upside down from a chin up bar doing crunches. He seemed to be moving slow but at a steady pace with no sign of tiring.
Adam having settled in to his apartment, Adam had decided to pay a visit to the local gym and exercise, a habit which helps clear his head and think. Donning a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a vest top, he enters Quads and makes a beeline for the punchbags, after paying of course.
Ethos was not wearing a shirt while he worked out, wearing only black shorts that hugged his shapely legs. His light cyan colored scales colored his body with darker patches around his shoulders and waist. Even while constantly moving his orientation around with the crunches he was able to see people coming and going near him. The new human that entered looked like he had been coming
to this gym for a long time. Maybe he could assist him with with learning the lay of the land. He hopped off the bars gracefully and approached him, taking care not to come by from a blind spot incase he surprised him. "Hail, sir." His voice was raspy and low, typical of most drell.
Adam turns to the approaching drell, smiling politely. "Sir," he says with a respectful incline of his head. He pulls the towel from off his shoulders and places it next to his water bottle, all the while still talking to the drell. "What can I do for you?"
Ethos bowed his head honorably in return. "Forgive my assumption but I merely wanted to ask some questions and you seemed to be one who frequents this facility." He made sure that he was standing straight at attention but not quite like a military stance, more of one ingrained through years of practice in respect. "You see, I am new to Freedom Falls and was hoping to find others in
Adam mimics Ethos's posture naturally, though this one is ingrained through the military. At the mention of him frequently visiting the gym, he chuckles and shakes his head. "Sorry, but I'm new here myself. Arrived today, as a matter of fact." He shrugs apologetically. "I'm as clueless as you about this place."
Ethos looked disappointed for a brief flash. "That is too bad. I arrived only yesterday myself as well. Maybe there is still hope that we can benefit from each other mutually though." His voice never quite seemed to take on any other tone than neutral. He motioned over to the punching bag that the man was about to use. "You may call me Ethos."
Ethos glanced at the offered hand before shaking it. A strange custom he was glad he was getting used to considering humans used it to much. "May Arashu keep you well." He walked towards the punching bag and offered to hold it for Adam.
Adam nods after taking back his hand, turning to the punching bag and pulling on a pair of padded, fingerless gloves. After a few quick stretches, he begins to jab his fists at the bag. Lightly at first. "So," he asks between punches. "Why did you come to Aite, if you don't mind me asking?"
Ethos braced himself against the bar, he could tell he was holding back. A simple warmup of course. "Only if you will grace me with the same in response." A small smile curved his lips. "I mostly come to begin anew. With not much to my name I simply drift from place to place." As far as the galaxy was concerned he didn't even exist.
Adam lets out a single laugh, throwing a couple of light strikes at the bag's midsection. "I've met a few like you in my lifetime." He jabs at the bag with his right fist twice. "Usually it's to run or hide from something. Though, that's not always the case."
Ethos didn't have to try too hard to hold the bag, mostly just good footing. "Do you travel the galaxy frequently to encounter 'my type'? Perhaps I will surprise you Adam." He paused to allow the human to hit the bag a few more times. "People claim that they come out here when they've nothing left. What say you?"
Adam nods. "Maybe you will," he says in agreement. He ignores the former question, electing to throw a haymaker at the bag with much more force and power than one would assume possible for a man of his build. "I'm here looking for someone," he says finally, after striking the bag again.
Ethos nearly lost his footing when Adam struck the bag. He could have sworn he almost felt it through the large bag. He let out a grunt and reorientated himself. "Perhaps I can assist you." He is now holding the bag much more firmly incase of more surprise encounters with feats of strength. "It is not of my business to pry. A simple offer."
Adam smiles politely, bringing up his knee and striking the bag's side. "No offence, but we only just met." He steps forwards and swings his eblow into the bag with a grunt. "I only know your name, after all. But your offer is appreciated, Ethos."
Ethos made no response as he continued to hit the bag. "Sometimes the arm of a stranger is the most useful of assistance." He tried to hide the small grunts from holding the bag. "You'd be surprised what you can learn from those you don't know." He'd earned most of his living by duping and assisting through the kindness of others. "Very well. A military man such as yourself should have
Adam inclines his head once in a short, sharp nod. "That's true." He takes a step back and pivots, swinging the heel of his foot into the side of the bag. Once it connects, he brings it back towards him and kicks out, still balancing on one leg. He reorients himself and nods again. He shows little surprise at being figured as military. "Ex-military," he corrects.
Ethos moved back on his feet at the flurry of kicks. "Yes, that would explain your fighting style but perhaps there's more in there, deep down. A hidden strength not common to your people. I can feel the energy with every strike." He would continue to hold the bag until Adam was satisfied with his workout.
Adam grunts, striking the bag a few more times. He scoops up the towel and water bottle, dabbing his face with the towel, taking a swig from his bottle. He winks and taps his nose in a conspiring sort of way. "That's for me to know and you to find out."
Ethos finally let go of the bag when the onslaught was finished. "You are a curious man, Adam." He realized he was foolish and didn't bring his own method of rehydration but didn't show it. "Your objective sounds important but you are here. While I admire your commitment to your physical health I cannot help but notice you are not in haste to find this person." He paused as another
Adam shrugs, rolling his shoulders and craning his neck to the side. "To find this person, I need to find another person or wait for a different person to help me find the original person." He deadpans this, giving an even look at the drell
Ethos doesn't change his face much but his eyes wander Adam's as if searching for an answer to his own questions. "Then perhaps a blessing from Amonkira, the Lord of Hunters, is more in order for you." He nodded his head quickly as if already knowing that it was the best course of action. "Regardless, should you ever require assistance I would be glad to oblidge."
Adam nods, wrapping the towel around his shoulders once again. "I thank you for the blessing," he says truthfully. "And I'll keep that in mind. Honestly."
Ethos gives a more dramatic bow of his body in honor of Adam's respect. "Of course. Blessings are not to be wasted but I have no doubt that you will find what you need." He began walking away to other equipment. "And should you require a partner for working out again, well... Look for the blue drell." He said with an amused grin before he started walking back to where he was previously.
