Ilyna smiles. "At least she's harmless," she says. "I'm... going to stay here for a few days. You can come visit every day, but you'll have to go home with Ehanis when it's bedtime, okay?"

Ehanis leaves the hospital while placing a call on her omni-tool. (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Skythix was resting in her bed overnight. Although she did get up in the middle of the night occasionally to walk around. She was always too restless in hospitals or clinics to stay in bed. Maybe it was because she was told to stay there and hated following the rules. For now, she was turned over in the bed, facing the rest of the people in the room but still asleep.

Pip is still sleeping. No change there.

Zaylus sits upright in his bed, though his eyes still appear to be closed. He carefully slumps forward, running a hand over his fringe for a few moments, mandibles flaring slightly. When satisfied, he drops his hand into his lap.

Skythix | After a few minutes of continued rest, Skythix stirs in her bed. She groans and sits up onto her elbows before attempting to readjust her eyes to the land of the living. With a tired look, she smiles slightly at the people in the room.

Pip grumbles and turns, muttering something about ostrich eggs and making a big omelette.

Zaylus slowly blinks, still slumped forward as he finally looks around the room. First to the other turian, to whom he gives a small wave once he's positive she's actually awake.

Halisi glances at the other patients as they start to awaken. She makes her way around Ilyna's bed, going to Skythix and looking at the turian's monitor, then typing a bit on her datapad before turning her gaze to her patient. "How are we feeling today?"

Jason continues off down the hall until he reaches his room once more. He steps into the doorway and leans against the doorframe, not wanting to interrupt Halisi as she works.

Skythix ran a hand over the wound she sustained on her head to check to see if the plate was still cracked. "Alright, I suppose. I never sleep well in hospitals." She mutteres before inspecting her right side where she was shot. "What about you?" She asks back to Halisi.

Halisi smirks faintly, shaking her head. "Don't worry about me." She glances at the readings again and raises an eyebrow. "Have you been... walking around? I thought I told you to stay in bed."

Li lifts her head, looking at Ilyna with a frown. "Can't I stay here with you...?"

Zaylus watches Halisi work for a few moments before noticing the small child in the room. He goes back to rubbing his forehead, his eyes again shut.

Skythix raises her hands palm up. "You got me." She says with a sigh. "I brought my monitors with me but yeah, I couldn't sleep last night. Walked around a bunch until my feet were tired." She turned her head to see Ilyna talking to a young human. "Who's that?"

Ilyna hums. "I don't know if the hospital would be okay with that," she says. "I can ask them, though."

Halisi glances over her shoulder. "Oh. That's Li. Ilyna has... adopted her." She turns back to Skythix, narrowing her eyes a bit. "Don't go trying to change the subject on me. You can't be walking around. Between the gunshot wounds and your concussion you need to stay in bed. I know turians like to act tough, but you break just like the rest of us... I'll be keeping you here for a full week. Complete recovery will take a month at least,

certainly more if you keep agitating your injuries like this. There's likely to be scarring on your chest... it may be fixable at a later date if you want, but it's always tricky with turians."

Li nods faintly, looking around the room a bit. When she notices Jason she waves with an enthusiastic smile.

Ilyna looks at the doorway, as well, and nods to Jason. "Good morning, Jason," she says.

Skythix sat up more straight in her bed and instantly regretted it as a small pain shot through her right side. "A week?? Doc!--Urgh--... Halisi!" She attempts to adjust herself on the bed so that she's not hurting herself anymore. "I can't be out for a month." She sounds like she's pleading. The prospect of the scarring going in one ear and out the other. "I don't-- I-I can't..." Her eyes

wandered frantically like she were searching for something in her head. "Can't you just fill me with medigel and send me out?"

Jason smirks as he spots Li and lifts one of his hands to give her a small wave. "Morning, Ilyna. Li. How are you two doing?"

Steve has been awake pretty much all night wearing a pillow on his head to keep all of the snoring and annoying hospital noises away.

Halisi stares the whining turian down. "No... not unless you want permanent muscle damage or a cracked carapace. Your body needs time to heal. You may be able to get back in the field a week or two before you are fully healed, so long as you're careful - I wouldn't recommend it, but I know things aren't exactly ideal out here. For now, you need rest and medication, and I still need to do more checks in regards to your concussion. Once

you're out you'll need to follow the recovery program to the letter, and you may be field-ready sooner. Show me some of that turian discipline, alright?" She offers a friendly smile, patting Skythix' shoulder - the one she wasn't shot in of course.

Li turns her head back to look at Ilyna. It's unclear if she's yet registered that the asari is in a hospital for a reason.

I'm doing fine, but recovery is going to take a while.

Skythix droops her mandibles in a frown. There was those words, 'turian discipline'. She hated hearing that. Everyone had a limit it's just that turians chose not to show it because of their society. "I've been shot before, Halisi. I know all of that, but..." She rested a hand over her wound, the intense thinking made her head hurt. "I can't just sit around and do nothing." She hated being

still, not having a purpose. Even if it was just for a few weeks.

Jason nods. "Of course. Of course. It's important to take care of yourself." he says, raising his voice to purposely be overheard by Halisi, "Whether you're in here or not. Gotta-... you know, take care of the ol' war-wounds. Mine seem to be doing fine. No pain." he glances over towards Halisi, "No discomfort. Dooooin' fine~" he sings, running a hand along his side.

Halisi considers this for a moment and lets out a sigh. "Look, it's not so bad. In a couple of days you'll be alright to walk around the hospital, so you won't be stuck in here all week. And I could see about arranging some entertainment other than the TV. Some games, maybe? What are your interests?" she asks with a smile.

Li tilts her head. "Are you sick?" she asks Ilyna.

Ilyna looks thoughtful for a moment. "I got a little hurt on the job," she says. "I'm going to be fine, though, so don't worry."

Skythix fell back against her bed again as the realization that she was going to be stuck in the hospital hit her. She thought she was just going to be in and out in twenty four hours or so once they realized the wounds were healing fine. Even though Halisi had her best interest at heart, she couldn't help but redirect her anger at the doctor. "I don't play games..." She mutteres while looking

at her hands that rested on her lap. "I fix things, I shoot things, I drive things." She knew subconsciously she was being unfair with Halisi but she felt helpless. "I never had time for those games."

Halisi furrows her eyebrows, glancing at her datapad. "I'll find something. Have a couple of ideas. Hang in there." She nods at Skythix and then looks around the room. "I need to check on the rest now, we'll talk more later." She turns around, typing something on her datapad and then looking around once more to decide who to check on next. Upon noticing Jason hovering in the doorway - having blocked out his earlier nonsense - she walks

up to him with a curious look. "Well?"

Skythix watches Halisi speak with a blank expression. There was nothing she could do, trapped by invicible hand cuffs that tied her to the hospital bed. She could leave like Halisi said but risk hurting herself permanently. "Yeah..." She mumbles when the doctor walks away. She balls her hands into fists, trying to keep her emotions in check.

Jason offers Halisi a big goofy smile. "You do good work, Doc." he begins, trying to butter her up a bit. His face returns to a more neutral expression as he continues, "She's a bit disoriented... Upset. I'd say it's to be expected. But-... I have a small request. Tiny." he says, tilting his head and wincing as if he already knows how the doctor is going to react.

Halisi crosses her arms over her chest, waiting for Jason to continue with a raised eyebrow.

Li frowns at Ilyna. "Was it monsters?"

Jason breaks eye contact and tosses his hands up in a shrug. "She just wants to go home, Doc. I think it would be good for her, too. She needs to put everything behind her. Feel safe." He glances down at his side and pats it with his hand, "Mine were just a few grazes. Barely even flesh wounds. And with your infinite talent? Psh, no problem. I actually feel better now than before I was

shot." He raises his right hand, "Honest."

Ilyna nods a little bit. "Yeah," she says, "but the most improtant thing is that everyone came home, and everything will be back to normal in a week or two."

Halisi looks at Jason with an unamused look on her face. "Absolutely not."

Li nods hesitantly, looking a bit troubled as she lies down again, resting her head on Ilyna.

Jason frowns. "Why not!? Don't you think she should be in a place she feels safe, Doc!? She's been through a traumatic experience. An experience that started when she had Cerberus tech implanted in her head right here." he says, pointing a finger at the ground, "At this very hospital. This is probably horrifying for her."

Halisi sighs, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "Yes, I-... I understand that. And I could probably release her after a quick examination, but you are not ready to be released, and I'd rather not have her be on her own all things considered."

Jason shakes his head and responds quickly and calmly. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Don't worry, I'm not planning on going skydiving, Doc. Just a little R&R. It would work out better for everyone." he continues, smirking as he begins to believe he may convince her, "Linda gets to get out of here. I get to watch over her. And your staff won't have to deal with me."

Halisi closes her eyes as she considers this, eventually nodding faintly. "Fine. Fine." She looks at Jason and pokes a finger at his chest. "But you're coming in for daily checkups. And no. Drinking."

Jason scrunches up his nose, looking quite offended. "You wound me, Doc. What do you take me for? Some no-good alcoholic?" His smirk quickly returns as he adds a "Thanks." afterwards and backs up through the doorway, "I'll go let her know."

Ilyna pats her back gently. "Once I'm out, we're going to spend some time together," she says. "I'm not expected back to work for a month, so we'll have plenty of time."

Halisi shakes her head to herself before turning around and heading over to Zaylus, looking him over for a moment after checking the monitor.

Zaylus studies the doctor in turn, giving a short upward nod. "How are we, doc?"

Jason cups his hands around his mouth from the other side of the doorway and gives a shout to Li. "I didn't forget about the dinnosaurs!" he shouts before giving a wave and setting off down the hall to deliver the good news to Vasquez.

Li hugs Ilyna upon her statement, and then giggles as Jason shouts.

Skythix has a forelorn look to her face as she stares out a window on the far wall.

Halisi glances at her datapad and then looks to Zaylus with a slight smile. "Not too bad all things considered. Your head was a bit rattled, but any lingering effects should be gone soon... the shoulder wound will take time to heal. I'd say three to four weeks. I'll be keeping you here for five days or so. Your carapace is fine but you should avoid straining that arm for the first two weeks, and after that, follow the recovery schedule,

to avoid any muscle damage."

Jason swings into the doorway of Vasquez' room, hoping to the high heavens that she's still there.

Vasquez hasn't moved from the side of the bed. She's still seated there, staring at the wall. She shows little reaction to Jason's arrival.

Jason claps his hands together, which sounds less like a clap and more of a bang due to the materials his hands are made of. "Pack your shit up, beautiful." he announces, putting on his best smile, "We're going home."

Zaylus adopts a small grin somewhere in Halisi's answer, but supresses it by the time she's done speaking. "Understood." He nods in response, now retaining a mostly neutral expression. "But, uh, 'rattled'? Is that the medical term?" He queries lightly.

Halisi smirks slightly. "A mild concussion." she states. "And some bruising. That's all. You're lucky you had that helmet."

Ilyna just holds the hug without saying another word.

Vasquez looks around the empty room with a deadpan expression and then turns her gaze back to Jason. "I don't have anything..."

Zaylus | "I'm a pretty big fan of it." He jokes, though lacking most of the inflection that would identify it as such. "Thanks, doc." He says, having nothing more to ask.

Halisi nods and moves on down to Pip, furrowing her eyebrows as she studies the monitor readout.

Pip mumbles and rolls over, a hand draping over the side and bumping into Halisi's leg. She furrows her brow and smacks her lips a few times. Not the most elegant of sleepers.

Jason approaches the woman and places a hand on her shoulder. "Alright then... What about the clothes you were wearing when we brought you in? What'd they do with those?" He looks her up and down and raises an eyebrow, "Don't get me wrong, you can definitely pull off the look." he says, giving a goofy grin, "I'm just afraid it might be a bit chilly if you go walking through town in that

thing."

Halisi chuckles briefly and shrugs, opting to move on to Steve rather than wake her. She checks her datapad, and then the monitor, letting out a quiet sigh.

Steve doesn't bother moving his pillow. "What do you want?" he says, muffled by his makeshift headgear, "I'm tryin' to sleep."

Vasquez shrugs faintly, standing up and checking the dresser near the bed. She pulls out the Cerberus fatigues. She takes the pants, boots and white undershirt, leaving the jacket. She slips out of the hospital gown, putting on associated underwear first and then starting with the pants.

Jason takes a seat on the bed as she gets dressed. He gives a look over the outfit and shrugs his shoulders. "We can burn those once we get you back into your own clothes." he says with a chuckle, hoping to lighten the mood somewhat.

Halisi frowns. "I thought I should inform you of your current condition. You took a lot of shots. You'll be here for at least a week, and full recovery will take over a month. The right arm especially will take time to heal. Considering the... amount of medication you are already taking, I'm having some trouble with your dosages. I was hoping you could give me a full rundown of what you take and how often. I may need to make some

adjutments considering you will be here for some time... you should also know that I have removed your amp for the time being."

Vasquez offers no response to Jason, slipping the shirt on and standing up again. "Let's get out of here..." she mutters.

Steve quickly pulls the pillow from atop his head and stares pointedly at the woman. "My-..." he pauses and glances around at the others, choosing to lower his voice somewhat before continuing, although given the close quarters it's unlikely to do much. "My medication is my own business." he says through gritted teeth, "If you want me to lay in a bed for a week, I can do that perfectly fine at home." he says, staring at the doctor,

Steve | "Bring me my amp. Now." he adds, attempting to remain calm although his anger is boiling just below the surface.

Jason hops off the bed, doing his best to hide the pain that shoots up his side as he does. "You don't have to tell me twice." he says as he heads towards the door. "Me and this place? Not friends. Not at all."

Halisi shakes her head. "No. You will remain here for treatment. And I need to know what you take for a multitude of reasons." She lowers her voice a bit, still frowning. "You could have a severe reaction if I medicate you without knowing what is already in your system, and if you need more you will be unable to get if I don't know what it is."

Vasquez follows Jason out the door, and then on down the corridor.

Steve gives a short chuckle. "Oh? I will? Says who? You?" he asks, purposely antagonistic, "Just give me the damn meds and send me on my way. I'll figure it out. Been dealin' with this shit my whole life. And I certainly don't need your help in gettin' more." he mutters.

Jason remains beside Vasquez, wrapping an arm around her waist as they head towards the exit. "You hungry?" he asks, "We should get a bite to eat, right?"

Vasquez shows little reaction to Jason's arm, just moving on forward. "Sure..."

Halisi leans forward a bit. She has a tight grip of her datapad. "I. Am trying. To help you. You're staying. Without your amp. Now please tell me what you're taking."

Jason nods. "Varren kebabs and a couple be-..." he immediately goes quiet and glances around, partially expecting Halisi to leap from the rafters. Once he confirms she's nowhere in sight, he glances back over at Vasquez, "...and a couple beers."

Pip stirs, blinking and looking at the heated confrontation. She narrows her eyes slightly at Steve, but remains quiet.

Steve stares at the woman for a few moments. "I want my amp." he states plainly, "Bring me my amp and we'll talk."

Li looks towards the argument between Steve and Halisi, keeping a tight grip of Ilyna.

Skythix faintly wondered to herself now if they took out her amp. She felt the back of her head for the surgical scar where she had her operation so many years ago to have the amp implanted.

Ilyna looks towards their conversation, as well, her head tilted slightly.

Zaylus rolls his eyes, settling back in his bed. He didn't have anywhere else to be, so the hospital was as fine a place as any to rest.

Halisi groans, standing up straight again. "No. You have absolutely no need for it right now, and for the safety of my other patients I'm going to keep it until you are released. It's standard procedure with L2s..."

Steve furrows his brow, a vein in his forehead practically pulsating. "The fuck is that s'posed to mean!?" he grunts, sitting up straight in his bed.

Vasquez shakes her head, gently tapping her implant. "No beer..."

Oh my god, it means you're not goin' anywhere! So shut up and let people sleep you oversized gorilla!

Halisi scowls. "You know what it means, and please calm down. You're disturbing the other patients. I'd rather not sedate you."

Pip glares angrily at Steve, her precious beauty sleep being disturbed.

Li buries her face against Ilyna's chest as Steve raises his voice, clearly startled.

Steve glances over at Pip. "Me!? Are you fucking kidding me you lil moron? I've had to put up with all of you people's shit all fuckin' night! I ain't said a god damned word! If you don't like it, get the fuck out!"

Halisi sighs, pressing a finger against her datapad. Quick-acting sedatives would be pumped into Steve's bloodstream from one of the machines he is hooked up to.

Pip sits up, staring down Steve. "So what, that gives you permission to act like a jackass now!? She's the doctor! What she says, goes, so shut your mouth and act your damn age instead of a kid who isn't gettin' what he wants!"

Steve sits up straight in his seat. "Rather than acting like a jackass all the time like the rest of you morons!? How about you shut your mouth 'fore I co-..." he trails off as the sedatives begin to pumping through his veins. He blinks hard, giving a shake of his head, "...come.... come over there and-...."

Jason sighs and scrunches up his nose. "Fine, fine. No beer." he mutters, "So? Where ya wanna go? Respite, or an actual restaurant?" he asks.

Vasquez takes a deep breath once they're outside. "Let's just go to the Respite..." she says, looking up at the gray sky. "Our things are still there, right?"

Skythix watches the by-play with an amused grin as Briggs falls under the drug haze.

Pip continues to glare at Steve, her bravado and cockiness showing through her posture and look. "Arsehold. Too far up his own arse to see when people are tryin' to help him."

Halisi turns her head, pointing a finger at Pip. "And you. You are not helping. Don't antagonize him."

Jason gives a nod. "For now. I'll have them moved to the new building over the next few days." He winces and glances over at Vasquez, "You-... uhh.... You might want to brace yourself. The place isn't exactly neat and tidy..."

Steve doesn't last much longer before he's under the power of the sedatives.

Pip folds her arms and grumbles, leaning back against the backrest. She mumbles out an apology of some sort.

Ilyna stares at Steve, but decides against speaking. She returns her gaze to Li with a sigh.

Vasquez doesn't respond, simply walking down the street in silence.

Halisi seems rather frustrated as she heads over to Pip, doing her best to maintain a friendly look. "Alright, Ms. Summers. I'm afraid you have some fractured ribs, and a broken arm. I was able to make sure everything is in its place in the field. The swelling will persist for at least a week, during which I will be keeping you here in the hospital. After that your arm will need to be in a sling for a month, and you must not put any

strain on your chest during this time. I will be expecting you to come in for weekly checkups to make sure the bone is healing right for that entire month and the month after it, during which you will need to be careful when using the arm - it will be sore, and fragile. Understood?"

Skythix | "Got off easy..." She muttered under her breath.

Pip inwardly groans but nods. This will make repairing Watty incredibly difficult. "Fineeee...".

Halisi puts a hand on Pip's shoulder. "I understand how important the hands are to a mechanic, but it is important to let everything heal properly."

Pip nods reluctantly. "I know, doc. I won't do anythin' stupid."

Halisi smiles. "Good girl. And try not to agitate Steve, please." She takes another look around the room and then heads towards Steve's equipment with a sigh, crouching down and starting to go through it looking for his pills.

Skythix looked towards Halisi. "Did... Did you remove my amp too, doc?"

Halisi glances at Skythix, shaking her head. "No, it's still there. Steve is-... he's using an outdated implant model. It's... standard procedure to remove amps for patients with those implants." She doesn't seem to particularly want to expand on why this is done as she continues to go through Steve's things.

Pip | "No promises," she mutters under her breath.

Skythix had a curious look to her face. "Do they do that often with humans?"

Halisi considers her answer for a moment. "You probably know humans only learned about biotics a few decades ago. Earlier implants can cause some complications, so it is deemed safer to remove the amp when treating someone with such implants."

Skythix sat herself up more in her bed so it was easier to talk. "Why doesn't the Alliance get new implants for them if they knew they were defective?" For her, the Heirarchy would have funded any major surgery that affected her line of work.

Steve's belongings contains his gear, weapons and a small bottle of pills. It's nearly empty, but a few remain inside the unmarked bottle.

Halisi continues looking through Steve's things. "Well, implant surgery is very risky... there's potential for death or permanent brain damage. Few are willing to take those risks. I was under the impression it was the same for turians, but I will admit to knowing little of xenobiotics." Upon finding the pill bottle she stands up, studying the contents with her eyes for a moment before pocketing the bottle and putting the rest of the

things back.

Skythix shrugs her shoulders with a nod. "I don't know anything about humans but it sounds similar. It's dangerous surgery but there's also not much choice. The Heirarchy wants you in the best shape you can be to be the best soldier you can be." She rubs the back of her head in memory. "It was a rough couple of weeks, let me tell you." She says with a strain in her voice.

Halisi raises her eyebrows, looking curiously at Skythix. "You've had yours changed?"

Skythix nodded solemnly. "I'd hate to say I blame you humans, but once you came onto the scene a bunch of things changed." She paused as she looked between the other humans in the room. "Apparently the Heirarchy and the Systems Alliance came together to work on improving biotic implants a few years ago. They made a breakthrough with ours and I volunteered as a test subject." Her tone of voice

didn't seem to improve at all as she spoke.

Halisi nods slightly. "I... see." She decides against asking further, and simply turns to look around the room. "Just call out for a nurse if you need help with anything. Breakfast is in an hour, and I'll be back later today."

Skythix realizes she probably said too much. "Yeah..." She slumps down in her seating position to try and be more comfortable but nothing about hospital beds made her feel well. "See you for my next round of meds." She says in a joking tone and a mock salute.

Halisi offers a wave at the group of patients and then steps out of the room, heading off towards her office.

Ilyna nods to the doctor, before looking at the turian. "A new perspective has a tendency to do that," she says. "It also brought us medi-gel, but I think council laws were broken there too... if I remember the debates around it right."

Skythix lets out a quick chuckle. "I wouldn't know. Only thing I know about medi-gel is which one to use for me and that its saved my life more than once." She says to Ilyna. "Before coming to Aite I rarely even interacted with aliens. Unless they were my enemies that is."

Pip tries to fall back asleep.

The debates were very short-lived.

Ilyna chuckles. "And I can understand that," she says. "I barely left Thessia before I resigned from the military, and was never out of asari space."

Skythix raised a hand palm up questioningly. "I imagine people of all kinds ventured to Thessia though. Cultural center of the Asari. You guys are easily the most popular species. No one ever came to Parthia unless it was for business. I occasionally got to see aliens since I was in the town close to the space port but once I joined the military it was just turians."

Ilyna nods. "We're expected to seek a bondmate outside our species when the matron stage comes around, so naturally there will be many of them," she says. "I went to Invictus with my family last year, though, because it's my step father's home colony. "

Li listens curiously to the conversation, still resting against Ilyna, but no longer hiding her face. "You're like Toren!" she exclaims rather suddenly at Skythix. "Pointy."

Skythix tilted her head to the side as she listened. "I didn't know it was encouraged to find someone outside your species. Curious though that you've been to Invictus." Skythix seemed more interested in the conversation. "I admit, I don't really know much about other species except... well, where to strike for vital organs. My education wasn't exact a flourished one." She then looks at the

little girl that suddenly spoke up. Her mandibles fluttered in a grin. "I'm guessing Toren is your step-father or something?"

Li shakes her head, but doesn't elaborate.

Ilyna shakes her head. "She hasn't met my family on Thessia yet," she says before trying to get back on track. "Well, at least now you'll have a chance to learn the more mundane things about us." A soft laugh follows.

Skythix switches her gaze between the small child and Ilyna. "Now, when you say 'us' I'm not sure if you mean you and other asari or you and her." She says with an amused grin and pointing a talon at the little girl. "I admit I'm also curious as to why she's here and clinging to you. Does the little one have a name?" Her green eyes watched the human. She'd never seen a human child up close

before.

Li pouts. "I'm not little!"

Ilyna frowns, not really wanting to answer that question. "I meant anyone that's not a turian," she says.

Skythix could see the discomfort from her question. "Eh, yeah. I've already had run-ins with humans, asari, and krogan. A xenopsychology lesson that I was certainly not ready for." She says with a small shiver. She then looks at the child with another grin. "Oh of course not. I'm sure you're actually a big acrocanth underneath that little human disguise." The mysterious creature being a large

predatory animal native to Palaven.

Li grins, letting out a truly fearsome roar. "Yes! I'm an aggropath! Rawr!"

Ilyna can't help but chuckle, but remains quiet for now.

Skythix joins in with the laughter. "Oh spirits she's a cute one. In her own... squishy way." She holds back another round of laughter with the side of her hand over her mouth. "Too bad Briggs is too doped up to see this show." She takes a few grunts of effort to swing her legs over the side of her bed and leans over to examine the small human. "What's your name, asperitalla?" The turian

word not making it through the translation.

Li furrows her eyebrows in confusion at the turian word. "No, I'm Li."

Skythix lets out an 'ahh' sound of realization. "I see, Li. It's nice to meet you. My name is Skythix but you can call me Sky." She says in a sweet tone to the child before looking to Ilyna. "The word translates roughly to 'little fierce one'. It's a slang term that I guess the translator didn't catch."

Ilyna nods. "I only understood the little-part of it," she says. "You haven't received a message from Jason then, I take it? The translator always seems to struggle with those."

Skythix blinked once at Ilyna in surprise. "Oh. I didn't know you understood modern turian." She says before giving the asari a confused look. "What do you mean? I haven't gotten any messages from him since before we left for the mission."

I meant that his messages are riddled with typographical errors, or so my translator reports.

Ilyna smiles. "I studied it twenty years ago, after my mother bonded with a turian," she says. "And I had a lot of downtime at the base."

Skythix shook her head minutely with a confused look. "The one I got from him was really short. It was just a location and told me to bring five days supply. I thought it just looked like that because it was supposed to." Her confused look turned to humor as she pieced it together. "Thank the spirits for the translators at all though. It's hard enough learning all the dialects of my own

species let alone everyone elses." She casually glanced at the human girl to see what she was doing. She had become an interesting center piece for the room. "Nice to know you cared enough to learn our language though by yourself. It's very honorable of you." She says with a firm nod.

Li is sticking on Ilyna's bed, next to the asari. She's listening to Skythix and her talk, her attention varying. She's currently making claws with her hands, baring her teeth at Ilyna and then pouncing her. "Rawr!"

Ilyna gasps as she's caught off-guard by the pounce. She wraps her arms around her tightly. "Help," she says, but she can't hide her wide smile.

Skythix laughes and slowly stands to her feet, making sure the monitoring equipment glides with her. "You've forgotten about the other predator in the room, Li!" She says while making a stalking motion with her hands up like she was getting ready to attack. "Can you face a mighty villi?" She pretended to make a growl sound to add to the dramatics.

Li crawls over Ilyna, to hide from Skythix on the opposite side of the asari, lying down and acting as if she can't be seen.

Ilyna glances around, but doesn't move. "Where did she go?" she asks in jest.

Skythix stalks closer to the bed with her claws still up. She flashes a grin at Ilyna and then starts making hissing sounds, rotating around the bed as if searching for the little girl. "She couldn't have gotten far." She said with a snarl before sniffing at the air dramatically. "I can smell the tiny human." She slowly hovered herself over the bed without looking down at Li as if to pretend

she still didn't know where she was.

Li giggles quietly, keeping still.

Skythix halts just barely over Li and makes another growling sound. "Found you!" She finally shouts before reaching down putting her hands on the child's shoulders. She continued to make her own roaring sounds like she was a predator.

Ilyna returns a smile as the turian grins at her, but remains quiet during their hunt.

Li lets out an "Eek!" before rolling around and grabbing Ilyna's arm with both her hands, putting it between herself and the turian. "Help!"

Ilyna let her move her arm without resistance, but she doesn't otherwise get involved.

Skythix continues to playfully bat at Li's prone form before reaching down to pretend to bite down on her. "Dinner!" As soon as she did that, a shooting pain went up her right side which made her stand up right instantly with many 'ow's as she stepped away from the bed with a hand on her side. "Okay, enough playtime. I can't do this." She said with a slightly sad tone.

Li looks after Skythix with a concerned frown as she walks away.

Ilyna frowns. "Are you alright?" she asks, sounding concerned. "Should I go get Halisi?"

Skythix moves with her monitoring equipment back to her bed. "Spirits, no, please don't get her. She'll tie me to the bed if she finds out I'm even walking right now." She says just as she sat down with a pained sigh. "I just... can't play acrocanth anymore." She says with a sympathetic look to Li.

Li frowns still. "Did monsters hurt you too?"

Skythix looked at Ilyna with an unsure look. "It was... just an accident at work, asperitalla. I'll be okay soon."

Ilyna nods. "Alright, I won't tell her," she says, trying to avoid the other subject, "but just this time. There's a reason behind her advice, after all."

Skythix let out a long sigh and rubbed at the cracked plate on her head. "Yeah, I know. I'm not looking forward to being in this hospital for any longer than I need to." She says. "She said I'm probably gonna be out for a month. A month! I don't know what I'm going to do with myself."

Ilyna nods. "I got similar instructions," she says. "Don't worry about your job, though. You'll get the time you need to recover, while we worry about keeping it all afloat."

Skythix shook her head slowly. "I'm not worried about my job. I know I did fine, even if I was a little abrasive. Er, sorry if I ever overstepped your authority on the mission by the way." She added the last part on quietly. She was a natural leader so not being in control just didn't sit right with her. "I just don't like being idle for so long. I get restless."

Ilyna sighs. "It's fine," she says. "It was a hopeless situation, and we were fumbling in the dark for most of it." She pauses, and looks away for a moment. "I don't think I should be a leader in the field if I'm being honest," she says. "Jason know me, and we've survived some very close calls together, but... that's not leadership experience."

Skythix shook her head. "That's not really a good excuse for me though. Always... always held myself at a higher standard I guess." She shrugged her head before groaning when she realized how self-centered that sounded. "No one's ever ready for leadership. Even when you've been doing it for years..." Her voice sounded sad as she looked down at her lap.

Ilyna nods. "I actually did lead a job before this, which went as well as it could, though it earned me some unwanted publicity," she says, looking a tiny bit embarrased, "but that's the only real leadership experience I have, and it was nothing like this mission."

Skythix keeps her gaze at her lap. "Don't think we couldn't have been less prepared for that mission except maybe we leave Viper at the spaceport." She tried to inject humor into her words. Getting shot was never fun but she'd been shot enough times to at least hope to move past it quicker.

Li furrows her eyebrows. "Who's Viper?"

Ilyna chuckles. "I don't think she would have given us that kind of choice," she says. "You should ask Jason how she was before the mission...."

Skythix looked back at Ilyna like she got caught in a lie. "Oh just someone who we worked with, Li."

Li nods faintly. "Oh." she says, lying down to rest against Ilyna again.

Skythix didn't really know what to do with human children let alone turian. "From what I saw of her from the general mission I don't think I ever wanted to have even known her."

Ilyna wraps her arms around her, and holds her close. "She was our only hope at getting Vasquez back," she says, "and she did her part."

Skythix crossed her arms. "Yeah, I know she was." Didn't mean she had to like it. "It's just a far cry from what I'm used to. No rational person would have agreed to that mission."

Ilyna frowns. "We had to, for Vasquez' sake," she says. "We would never have agreed on it if not for that."

Skythix | "It's pretty much the only reason I went." She mumbles under her breath.
