Adam | After going home and having a quick shower and change of clothes, Adam took a walk to the hospital. Dressed in a simple shirt, brown trousers and boots, he enters the lobby with his satchel slung over his shoulder. He walks over to the reception, silently hoping the receptionist from before isn't present.

The reception appears unmanned at the moment. Several people are in the waiting room, mostly humans, but a few asari and a lone salarian as well. The salarian is tapping his foot restlessly. (Halisi)

Adam hums as he glimpses around. Odd. It looks like these people have been waiting awhile. At least he got his wish regarding the receptionist. He turns and starts down the corridor where Halisi's office is located.

A nurse passes Adam in the corridor, paying him little attention. She's on her way for the reception. (Halisi)

Adam arrives at Halisi's office and thumbs the buzzer. He glances back down the corridor, quirking an eyebrow. It must be very busy today.

There is no response, but after a moment she comes walking out of a nearby room, looking rather distracted. Upon noticing Adam she stops. "Oh. Mr. Barclay. Right, your checkup." She glances around at some of the doors and then seems to pick one. "Come with me." she says, heading for a nearby door and pressing the haptic interface to open it. (Halisi)

Adam again, quirks his eyebrow. Must be very busy today. He nods, however, and follows after Halisi. "Busy, doctor?" He asks, a professional smile donning his face.

Halisi steps through the door, into a small examination room. "Yeah, that's one way to put it..." Her voice is a bit uneaven, and she still looks a bit distracted as she writes something on her omni-tool. She gestures for the bed in the center. "Have a seat."

Adam furrows his brow. He moves over to the bed, tucking his satchel out of the way. "Are you alright," he asks hesitantly, lowering himself onto the bed. Something feels... Off about the hospital today.

Halisi smiles politely. "I'm fine. There was a bit of an incident earlier today, but it's nothing to worry about. Just a reminder why we need new locales." she muses, seeming to talk more to herself than him at the last part. She deactivates her omni-tool interface and looks at him. "So. You're here for a checkup on your implants, correct? I take it your medical file is up to date?"

Adam smiles back. She has a nice smile, he muses to himself. "Yes to both of your questions," he says, leaning forwards slightly and resting his elbows on his legs. "My last check up was just before... Before Damien contacted me."

Halisi lets out a sigh, nodding faintly. "Alright... strength-increasing muscle fiber implants." She looks him over with a raised eyebrow. "Doesn't look like Alliance-issue... I'm guessing you're a mercenary?" While talking she grabs a tool that looks almost like an old price scanner, holding it a centimeter from his hand and slowly starting to move the device along the arm, her other hand

holding his arm steady as she focuses on the scan.

Adam can't help but faintly grimace at the label. "Bounty hunter." The scan would indeed show that they are not Alliance-issue. In fact, it would be difficult to determine their origin at all as they do not fit any well known manufacturers. There also seems to be traces of subdermal armour implants along the forearms.

Halisi scoffs slightly, continuing the scan to make sure there is no damage or other issues with the implants in the arm. "I see. Do you do a lot hand-to-hand fighting, Mr. Barclay?"

Adam narrows his eyes slightly at Halisi, irritated by her scoff. "Yes," he says curtly. No issues would be detected, the implants working as perfectly as the day there were implemented.

Halisi takes a moment to look over and log the results before moving to his other arm, starting the process again. "Any news of Damien? What is your next step in looking?"

Li is sat on the floor near one of the walls, munching on a candy bar and drawing on the floor with great focus, now that Ilyna is asleep. (Halisi)

Adam glances at the scanner as it slowly moves along his tattooed arm. He sighs and shakes his head, clenching and unclenching his fist. "Nothing. Though I am going to look through his belongings at Respite and see if there's anything that could help there."

Skythix | Skythix was asleep in her bed, laying on her back. She had been trying to sleep as much as she could but after the nightmares from the previous night, she was dreading closing her eyes. It was the hospital she was sure of it. She hated being in it more than anything in her life. Funny how the one place where one would go to get healed plagued the turian the most. The machines next

to her began to beep at a quicker pace as her heartbeat accelerated and blood pressure spiked. She started breathing fast with her mouth open, her body trying to cool her off. She fidgetted in her bed, tossing back and forth as another dream assaulted her mind.

Li looks up as Skythix' monitor beeps. She furrows her eyebrows in confusion and curiosity, standing up and walking over to the turian's bed, tilting her head as she studies her uneasy sleep.

Pip looks over at Sky, having only just woken up herself. Her thrashing about causes Pip to bit her lower lip and look around anxiously. What to do, what to do?! "Uh... Skythix?" She asks. "Skythix? Hey, wake up."

Halisi continues the scan up the arm, but her eyes drift to the tattoo as she passes by more and more of it. "What is this?" she asks, curiosity in her tone.

Skythix | Skythix is unresponsive. Whatever dream she is trapped in seemes to have a tight hold on her.

Li frowns. "Are you ok?" She reaches up and pokes Sky's arm softly.

Adam smiles warmly as he looks at the tattoo, fond memories flooding back. "That is Maori body art. A tribe from New Zealand that dates back to... The 14th century I believe. There are few of them left, but long ago, they were proficient horticulturists and warriors that boasted a rich mythology." He turns his arm around so that Halisi can afford a better look. The tattoo runs under his sleeve and further along.

Pip looks around for a nurse. "Uh, kid... I wouldn't get too close. She may lash out... And those talons would hurt... Bad...".

Skythix | A soft warning sound beeps from Skythix's monitors as her heartrate goes above the average levels. Her arm twitches back onto the bed when Li touches her like she was recoiling from the touch. A soft whimper escapes her mouth that sounded strange between her rapid breaths.

Pip looks around and plucks an apple from her bedside table, a remnant of her breakfast from earlier. She carefully aims and lobs it at Skythix to wake her up.

Halisi smirks slightly. "I'm aware of the Maori." she says while continuing the scan. "I will admit to knowing little about tattooes, however. Is this style common among colonials?" She finishes the scan, looking over the results as she waits for a response.

Skythix awakens with a jolt when the fruit collides with her chest and lets out a quick scream in fear. She sits up quickly, her arms swinging out in front of her once as if fighting off a phantom. Her head scans the room quickly back and forth to make sure she was in the hospital room again but didn't register anything around her. She just assumed the dream woke her up again. She gripped

the sheets and curled her knees against her chest and rested her head down on her knees, shoulders shaking gently as she sobbed to herself.

Li jumps back as Skythix awakens, screeching as she runs back to Ilyna, climbing into the bed of the slumbering asari and hiding away from the turian.

Adam shakes his head with a small smile. "No. Actually, Maori tattoo's are considered rather rare. At least traditional ones, such as mine. I had to track down a tohunga ta moko to get mine completed whilst I was training on Earth." He chuckles lightly, scratching the back of his neck. "Though, traditionally, it was only the women who had their arms tattooed."

Pip rubs her arms awkwardly, looking over to Sky as the turian sobbed. Sheesh, must've been one hell of a nightmare... "Uh... Sky? You alright?"

Halisi finishes with reviewing the result of the scan and chuckles faintly. "Not a stickler for tradition then?". She puts the tool back on the table and starts typing in her comment on the results in his journal.

Skythix looked up suddenly from her knees with a gasp. For some reason she thought everyone in the room was still asleep. She took a few deep breaths to try and calm her heart rate as the machine monitoring it slowly complied with her actions. "Y-yeah. I'm fine." She responded to Pip. Her voice was shakey as she rubbed her hands over her face. Her eyes looked exhausted like she hadn't slept

well in days. "Bad dream is all." She said, looking at the human girl who was hiding away from what was probably her outburst.

Adam laughs quietly. "Apparently not. Though back in the 21st century, the body art was generally placed where ever the person wanted. As long as a tohunga ta moko continued to practice their art, it mattered little as to where it was on the body." He regards the tattoo again, still smiling warmly.

Um... Wanna... Talk about it? Orrrrr...?

Halisi nods. "Well, your implants are fine. Good on you for getting them checked up regularly. It's important with things like this." She glances at the tattoo again after she's finished typing. "Sounds like you have a bit of a history interest, hm?"

Adam looks up at Halisi and nods. Clearly he enjoyed the topic. "That's putting it mildly. It was something me and my father enjoyed when he wasn't working," he explains. "It sort stuck with me ever since I left home. I even have a few antiques that I've collected over the years. I tell you, it made a dent in my wallet." -

Adam laughs awkwardly. "This... Probably doesn't interest you at all...".

Halisi shrugs slightly. "Oh, I don't know about that. My parents have quite the collection of antiques. Always interested me." She glances at her still-active omni-tool. "I'd love to chat, but I'm pretty busy. We're done here, unless there was anything else."

Adam smiles faintly and stands, grabbing his satchel and pulling it over his shoulder. "No, nothing else. Thank you, doctor, I won't take up anymore of your time," he says as he makes his way to the door, palming the interface. "Enjoy your day."

After I get some more sleep... That is. Very tired. And I don't think the kid would be much of a chatter so... Try and sleep, eh?

Skythix looked down at the bed where she gripped her sheets. Her talons had torn six clean holes in the sheets, occasionally revealing her dark legs in spots. "Not really..." She muttered. Her voice sounded raspy. She looked at Pip when she started to go back to sleep herself. "I think that's the last thing I want to do right now." Her face, which was usually very stoic and calm, looked broken

and depressed.

Pip leans back and gives a small sad smile to Sky. "Well...". Not knowing not to say, she smiles again and slowly closes her eyes.

Skythix waited a few minutes to make sure she wouldn't have an outburst and got out of bed to go walk around. Spirits be damned with the doctor's orders. She wasn't going to lay in that bed for another moment.

Renala enters the hospital, and approaches the counter, looking to see if anyone's there this morning. She's in a dark-red top under a half-way zipped up leather jacket -- the usual --, and simple gray pants.

A nurse is seated behind the counter, not paying much mind to Renala as he looks over a datapad, seeming quite bored as he props his head up with his hand.

Renala stops in front of the counter. "Hey," she says. "I'm looking for Mr. Briggs." The asari has a holstered submachine gun clearly visible, but that's the only weapon she has.

The nurse quickly straightens up his posture, attempting to go into 'professional mode' as the asari approaches. He eyes the weapon apprehensively for a moment, but quickly averts his eyes to a second datapad that he pulls in front of him. "Of co-..." he clears his throat before restarting with a nod, "Of course. Mr. Briggs. Mr. Briggs." he repeats as he scans the datapad. "Ah-ha! Steven Briggs. He's-..." the man pauses and looks

up at Renala, "...Sorry, what is your relation to the patient?"

Renala chuckles. "He's my coworker, and roommate," she says. "My name's Renala if you need to make a verify it with him or Dr. Halisi."

The nurse offers a polite smile and gives a shake of his head. "No, that won't be necessary. It looks as though he was moved from his room." he says, giving a nod down the corridor to the right, "He'll be through the third door."

Renala nods in return. "Appreciated," she says before setting off towards the indicated room. When there, she looks inside, opening the door if it's closed.

Steve is sitting upright in a room all to himself. His omni-tool is sitting on a tray in front of him as he taps at the interface. As the door opens, he glances over and offers a smile. "Well, ain't you a sight for sore eyes." he says, "First person I've seen in here that I didn't wanna hurl out a window. What's up, Ren?"

Renala smiles back. "What have they done this time?" she says with a chuckle, before sitting down at the edge of the bed. "I thought I'd pay you a visit before going up to the base to set up their new toys."

Steve rolls his eyes and gives a shake of his head. "Nothin' I ain't used to by now..." he sighs as he pokes at the holographic interface of his omni-tool one last time, causing it to dissipate. "So what are you talkin' about? New toys?" he asks, attempting to change the subject.

You know, security, defences and a VI. That is, if they followed through on all my recommendations. They want the doors up and running today so they can leave their stuff there.

'They'? So that mean the Chief is alright? Errr, back to her usual psychotic self, at least?

Renala nods. "I assume she is," she says. "I haven't seen them since the night we returned, and all he said is that they're moving."

Steve gives a shrug. He looks the asari over momentarily and nods at her shoulder area. "How 'bout you, Ren? You healin' alright?"

Renala frowns for a moment. "I got a painful reminder when I forgot the doc's orders while carrying groceries yesterday," she says, "but other than that, it's not that bad. It doesn't really get in the way of my technical work."

Steve nods a couple times, still staring at the general area where she was stabbed. "That's good. I'm stuck in this shithole for a week." he snorts and shakes his head, "You know, cuz apparently I can't lay in bed all day at our place or somethin'. Ridiculous."

Renala is wearing her jacket, which sleve does cover the area where her wound is. "The doc's probably going to catch the fire from the chief if one of us reopen wounds while out and about," she says. "I would hate it too, don't ge me wrong."

Steve lets out a long sigh and settles back against the upright backrest. "You're prolly right. Doesn't make it any less irritatin'. At least I got a room all to myself." he says, "Don't think I would've lasted another night if I had to keep sharin' a room with those jackasses."

Renala glances at the doorway. "Are they really that bad?" she asks. "They seem competent enough in the field."

Couldn't even get 'em to shut up when I was sleepin'. Just talk, talk, talk. TV blastin'. Then Halisi comes by to tell me 'bout my damage, and suddenly I'm gettin' yelled at for bein' too loud. Hypocrites and morons.

Steve grunts and shakes his head, "And don't get me started on the doctor. Takes my amp. Harasses me about-.." he trails off. "I just wanna get outta here."

Renala sighs. "I see your point," she says. "This entire place seems uptight about security recently. I'm starting to miss the stupid VI just telling me where to go no questions asked. Did some horrible crap happen around here that I haven't heard about?"

Steve gives a slight shrug. "No idea. Eh, whatever. Not much I can do other than ride this storm out." he sighs. "Don't miss me too much." he continues with a wink, "I'll be home before ya know it."

Renala chuckles. "I'll visit you a few times, depending on how much I miss you," she says with a smirk. "I could smuggle in something decent to eat if you'd like too next time."

Steve 's eyes perk up. "Hell, the food here is terrible. You bring me a good burger and I'll be in your debt." he says with a chuckle, seeming to cheer up slightly. "And somethin' other than water to drink. I feel like a damn fish in here..."

Renala nods. "I could go grab that right now if you'd like," she says. "No alcohol, though, since the doc might find out and raise a stink about it."

Steve seems to consider it for a few moments before sighing and shaking his head. "Nah... I appreciate it, but I think I'm gonna get some rest soon as you take off. It'd just get cold before I got around to it."

Renala nods. "I won't keep you up, then," she says. "I just wanted to check on how you were doing before heading to work." She pauses, and stands up. "I'll bring something next time, though."

Steve gives a nod, the smile returning to his face. "Either way, I appreciate the company, Ren. Thanks for comin' down here. Know it's quite a bit outta the way if you're plannin' on headin' over to Redrock."

Renala smiles slightly. "No problem," she says. "I'll visit when I'm not supposed to be anywhere next time." She takes a step towards the door before turning around again. "Maybe tonight if all go as planned, but I wouldn't count on that, because there's a lot that could go wrong."

Steve puts a hand up, giving her a small wave. "Ain't a problem. I don't wanna be a burden on ya. If ya can ya can, if ya can't-..." he shrugs, "...No big deal. And make sure ya take care of that wound! Otherwise the good doctor might come by and steal your amp." he says with a roll of his eyes.

Warning noted.

Renala smirks, and returns the wave. "Take care, and try not to harm your coworkers." She turns around starts walking out of the room.

Steve snickers and gives a shake of his head. "No promises..." he mutters under his breath as he lowers the backrest of his bed.

Renala chuckles before she leaves the room without another word. She heads for the exit.
