#Miner'sRespite – November 22, 2015
Skythix was resting her head against a palm in a booth near the middle. She was dressed in her usual warm clothing that covered her completely other than her spurs. She seemed to be spaced out as she stared at the empty seat opposite her.
Victoria walked into the Respite from the front door and slowly walking up to the bar. She was dressed in her standard long pants and t-shirt combo. Vicky took a seat a the bar when she reached it, she ordered herself a rum and coke.
Skythix had apparently faded out so much that she slipped off her palm as her head seemed to drift off of it. She let out a small startled sound and shook her head to try and wake herself up more. Why in the spirit's name was she even here? Oh right, she hated being alone in her apartment. She stood up from her seat in the booth and shambled over to the bar counter to order a double
whiskey. She vaguely recalled knowing who the human female was a few feet from her. "Hey." She said with a small raise of her hand in acknowledgement. "You're that pilot for Redrock, right?"
Victoria looked at the turian "Hey. Yeah, I am that pilot for Redrock and a bit more at times." Her drink arrived, which she paid for straight away. "Even though it feels like it been a while since I flew or fought for them."
Skythix realized how stupid her question sounded now that she looped it back in her head. She let out a small laugh and tried to recover. "Sorry. I just vaguely remember meeting you once. It was in here, I believe." She looked around the room as if to recall the memory. Her double arrived and paid for it as well. "How come its been so long for you?"
Victoria has a quick sip of her drink and gives a shrug "No need to say sorry. Plus I am almost always here." She pauses for a moment waiting to hear the turian's question "Well, I am been working on getting us our own ship. Well taking back my old one."
Skythix tilted her head in a questioning fashion, a very avian gesture. "You have a ship that Redrock is going to use? What happened to it if you don't mind me asking?" She grabbed her cup and finally sat down on the seat adjacent to the woman.
Victoria gave a sigh of shame "Well we are going to take it back, and I lost it cause of a snake poisoning people's mind and turning them against me." She stops again tapping the top of the bar with her fingers "Probably don't want to know what I did before joining with Redrock."
Skythix gave Victoria a very confused look. "A what poisoning? Their minds?" She blinked multiple times and looked around as if trying to find an understanding of what she just said. "I feel like there's a crucial point in this story that I'm missing." She said flatly while taking a drink of her whiskey.
Victoria sighs again "The asshole who stole my ship, decided he was better captain than me. Got trick half the crew to toss me off my ship and leave me here." She tells the turian in a rather defeated tone.
Skythix suddenly felt very bad for pressing Victoria into telling the story. She winced and turned slightly in her seat away, clear discomfort in her body language. "Ah, sorry about that." She was really bad at giving sympathy. "Did you ever track down the person who stole it?" She asked after a moments pause.
Victoria nodded "Yep and they are now here. They probably thought I would have left this planet by now." She took a sip of her rum again. "But now I got a chance to get it back."
Skythix perked up slightly. "Wait. They're here on Aite now?" She said, surprised. "Does Jason know that?"
"Yep, trying to organise everything I gotta get organised. But Redrock has been busy with other stuff to focus on my issue."
Skythix looked suddenly forelorn when Vicky mentioned Redrock's other issues. "Ahh..." She looked away from the human and took a sip from her drink. "I'm guessing it's due to the rescue mission aftermath. I think you have me to blame for that." She spoke the last sentence softly.
"Well that last job left Redrock in a shitty place. So I don't think I have you to blame for making my attempts to get my ship back slower."
Skythix winced again. "While that's true, you weren't the one that gave our boss a concussion before being let out of the hospital." She cleared her throat before taking another drink a little faster than she intended. She started coughing as she nearly choked on the alcohol.
Victoria did not know about that and was surprised to hear that. "Wait... what did you do?" If she heard right the turian gave either Jason or Vasquez a concussion.
Skythix pressed a hand to her face a groaned in embarassment. "I... accidentally threw Vasquez into the wall and knocked her out. I haven't had a chance to apologize to her yet nor Jason. I'm actually pretty sure he's going to kill me when he finds me."
Victoria just takes a sip of her drink "Yeah, I don't think I am going to ask how or why that happened."
Skythix lets out a sigh. That's good because I probably wasn't going to tell you. "That's fine." She said tiredly. She was now hoping that Halisi had the good grace not to tell anyone of her problem. "So, yeah... Sorry if I accidentally delayed your mission."
Victoria gave a shrug "No problem, shit happens." She had a rather chilled approach to this, even if it did delay her revenge.
Skythix still felt like she was being judged even if Victoria was being understanding. It really shouldn't have happened but she apparently had her own issues to deal with. She took another drink before running a hand over the top of her head. "You'll be coming back to work soon then?"
Victoria nods "Well, I am hoping the next job is to get my ship back from that asshole who stole it. So hopefully."
Skythix took in a deep breath before nodding back to her. "As long as I'm not out of a job by then, maybe I'll be around to help you out." She drank more out of her drink, eager to get it finished for some reason. "I imagine getting fired from a merc group isn't like getting fired from a normal job. I imagine there's more... shooting involved."
Victoria shrugs again "Well, I think Jason will probably let you go by flipping you off and telling you to go." She said in a joking manner "So you won't be getting shot at. I think."
Skythix shook her head slowly as if she didn't believe the answer. "There's a distinct chance of that if I know him at all. And I don't even know Vasquez at all. I met her face to face and I sent her to the hospital without much of a word. You know what they say about first impressions..." She rested the cool glass against her forehead and let out a long sigh.
Victoria gave her a pat on the shoulder "You will be fine, don't worry about it." She said trying to comfort the turian
Skythix fluttered her mandibles in response to the comforting gesture. "Everyone keeps saying that." She said before putting the glass back down on the counter. "But why do I never feel the same?" It's probably because you're still wracked with guilt, you idiot. "But I appreciate it."
"No problem buddy. Just gotta take it one step at a time, I am certain it won't be that bad for ya."
Skythix felt it was going to be anything but good. "Maybe. I'll have to find out soon though. The anticipation is killing me." She said before standing up from her seat, not bothering with the last sip of her drink. "I'll see you around, Steels. If it's pirates that need killin', let me know."
Skythix waved to the woman before she walked towards the exit, shivering slightly as she anticipated the coming cold.
