Nathan opens the door to the Respite and glances around, a lit cigarette dangling between his lips. He is still wearing his helmet with the mouth guard removed and his hardsuit. After earlier, he's not taking any chances.

Ehanis is standing behind the bar, trying to explain to an inebriated turian patron that she isn't the bartender. An actual bartender is currently not present, however. She has a simple kinetic barrier west over her red tank-top, and a holstered pistol. She looks up at the helmeted human entering, unsure whether he is trouble.

Gregorij is seated in his usual booth, nursing an undetermined drink in his hand. Anna is seated opposite to him, casting a faint blue glow over the otherwise dark corner. He looks half asleep, and his beard is more unkempt than usual.

Nathan usually ends up causing trouble. Not on purpose at least... 12% of time. He puffs a cloud of smoke out of the corner of his mouth and slowly walks on over to the counter, the visor still lowered over his eyes. He regards Ehanis, his visor making her in a thin red outline. "...I've been to a few bars, but not to one where the tender is armed for a fight," he

quips.

Ehanis | "...For the last time, I know it's simple," she says, "but waiting a minute won't kill you." She then gives up and walks over to the new arrival. "Have to be, when half the customers look like they got lost on their way to a merc gig," she jokes.

Nathan chuckles, reaching up to pull the cigarette from his mouth and blow a murky cloud of smoke to the side. "Touché," he says with a gentle nod. "Though I see a distinct lack of mercs in this place. Only a creepy old dude and a... What, is that a sexbot or something?"

Nathan he says, noting the most prominent feature of the room.

| In his opinion.

Ehanis shrugs. "I don't want to know," she says. "Looks like he needs it to walk around, though."

Nathan cants his head slightly, tapping away some of the ash. "But it looks... Overly feminine." He shivers slightly and turns away, electing to ignore it for the time being. "Can I get a drink?" He asks.

Ehanis smirks. "You seem very interested in that thing," she comments before glancing at the racks of bottles behind her. "The barkeep's gone for a minute, but if the order is simple, I'll see what I can do." That earns her a glare from another patron, but she either missed it or ignored it.

Nathan cackles, drawing a drag from the cigarette. "Just a straight shot of whiskey will do me, thanks," he says, turning to grin at the patron with an arrogant smile.

Gregorij shoots a nasty glare from across the room when he notices Nathan glancing at his mech.

Ehanis nods and looks over the bottles that are left under the counter for easy access on repeat orders and happens to find one with 'whiskey' on it. It's a cheap Aitian brand, so it's probably not going to be the best whiskey he's had. She finds a clean shot glass and pours it, spilling a few drops on the counter top in the process. "Just remember to pay for it when you leave," she says, "because I have no clue how that tab thing works

Ehanis ." She then puts the glass in front of him.

Nathan chuckles and nods, plucking up the glass and taking a sip. He hums appreciatively. "Hmm... Not bad. Not bad at all."

Ehanis offers a small smile. "That's good," she says. "So, what do you do for a living around here? I assume that getup's not just for show?"

Nathan places the glass back down with a gentle 'clink'. He glances back at Ehanis, finishing off the cigarette. He stubs it out in a small metal tin he carries with him, closing it and placing it back on his belt. "I'm a merc. I know, shocker." He chuckles. "I ran into someone who said I could hook up a pretty sweet gig at 'Redrock.' So hopefully that'll be my job

"

Ehanis feigns a surprised gasp. "I would never have guessed," she says. "I happen to be on their payroll too, but my worrisome sister is good friends with the boss, so I'm never going to get any exciting assignments."

Nathan laughs, taking another sip of his drink. He makes a subtle little gesture with his hand and his visor flips up into his helm, revealing his storm, grey eyes. "Ah, family. They can be so constricting at the best of times." He grins. "So she got you posted guarding a bar, hmm?"

Ehanis nods. "Mhm," she says, tilting her head as his helmet visor moves. "I'm stepping in for someone else, but he should be back now, yet I'm hearing nothing from the boss."

Kanaya emerges from the door at the back of the bar, and heads towards a turian that immediately flagged her down. She's wearing a blue halter top and simple jeans.

Nathan cants a curious brow. "...he wouldn't happen to be called Briggs?" He says, hinging his bets.

Ehanis raises an eyebrow. "Yeah, that's him," she says with a nod. "I take it you've seen him here before?"

Nathan shakes his head. "We met earlier on. He, uh, helped me out in a bad situation," he says, electing to keep how they actually met vague. "He then told me about Redrock and how they were looking for good people." He grins. "Seems like a decent fella."

Ehanis shrugs. "I haven't met him," she says. "I live way out of town, so I'm not here all that often when I'm not posted here."

Nathan hums. "I see. Is the pay decent?"

Ehanis nods. "Yeah," she says. "I'm not sure what the going rate is, though, but it should be enough to live comfortably between jobs."

Nathan nods, tapping the side of his glass. "Suppose that's all you could really ask for, hmm?" He says.

HoodedAsari enters the Respite, taking a look around on her way towards the bar. She's wearing a short black robe along with black pants, and a hood which obscures her eyes. She does not appear to be carrying a weapon. What is visible of her skin is a pale teal color. She takes a seat next to Nathan, waiting for the bartender in silence.

Ehanis sighs. "Yeah, I never really had long-term work before as a merc," she says, "so I guess I should be happy with this... even if it's boring work."

Kanaya takes a credit chit from a patron and charges it before heading over to serve the newly arrived guest. "Welcome to MIner's Respite," she says to the hooded asari. "What can I get you?"

Nathan nods slowly, an understanding look to his features. "Sometimes you just have to accept the boring ones. Swallow your pride and sense of adventure and just accept that you may end up rooted to the spot for the time being."

HoodedAsari considers her order for a moment. "Can you recommend anything local?" She says curiously, looking around the Respite under her hood.

Ehanis nods. "Yeah, I hear you," she says. Her omni-tool then makes a repeated beeping, which she swiftly mutes. "I'll be back in a moment." And with that, she turns around and makes her way through the door to the back.

Kanaya takes a step back. "Mind giving me more to go on?" she asks. "We have a few local beers on tap, but not much else from Freedom Falls I'm afraid."

Nathan nods and waves her away. He plucks up his drink and downs it in one go, eyeing the hooded asari beside him. He never trusted people in hoods. Always gave him bad vibes.

HoodedAsari nods faintly. "Very well... beer it is then." She says with a polite smile.

Nathan glances up the ceiling in thought. Then again, hoodies aren't necessary a bad sign. I mean, it is just a fashion choice after all.

Kanaya nods. "Coming right up," she says before picking up a pint glass and moving over to the taps. She looks over the taps for a moment, before she starts pouring one of the lighter beers into the glass.

Nathan is currently away in his own little world, having an internal debate with himself about what kind of hood is not suspicious and what is. He idly plays with his glass as he thinks.

Kanaya finishes pouring the glass and heads back to the hooded asari. She places the glass on the counter before her.

HoodedAsari accepts the glass with another smile, lifting it to her lips and taking a small sip. She appears to ponder the beer in silence.

Nathan eventually snaps out of his thoughts and looks to the hooded asari, his visor snapping back down with a subtle gesture. "Alright... What's with the whole...". His hands animate as he gestures at her. "... Mysterious look. It's creepy."

HoodedAsari looks in Nathan's direction, chuckling slightly. "I am afraid you will have to clarify, Mr...?"

Nathan gestures again. "The hood. It's not raining and you're inside. So what's with the damn hood?" He asks, not giving her his name.

Kanaya walks over to another patron that's signaling for her.

HoodedAsari tilts her head a bit. "It is not an uncommon attire. For asari and human alike, I believe." She sips the beer again, and then makes a very faint grimace, putting it down.

Nathan shakes his head. "Yeah, if it was a hoodie," he says. It seems he has finally come to the conclusion that someone with a hoodie is not creepy looking. "But a robe? Yeah, creepy."

HoodedAsari lets out a "Hm." before replying. "I get the impression you have not met a great deal of people not of your own species, correct?"

Nathan makes a sound akin to a negative buzzer. "I've met plenty of other species," he states, tapping the counter.

HoodedAsari smirks slightly. "I would have thought you would be more accustomed to the diverse garbs found out here in the Terminus then."

Nathan waves his hand dismissively. "If anything, I learned not to trust people in robes with their hoods pulled up constantly," he says.

HoodedAsari doesn't seem all that amused. She studies the beer for a bit. "Hmh... someone ought to build a vineyard here." She slides a credit chit across the counter and departs.

Nathan blinks and shakes his head as she departs.

Weird woman...
