Renala is currently in her office, staring at text scrolling over her terminal. She has showered and changed into simple gray jeans and a red top showing a fair bit of skin below the neck; a white fleeze jacket is hanging over the chair's back support.

Nathan is plodding down the stairs, cradling a mug of coffee in one hand whilst idly skimming through a datapad in the other. He starts to make his way toward the armory, but pauses when he reaches Renala's office. He hums and raps the back of his knuckles against her door.

Renala looks up at the door with a raised eyebrow. A glance towards the camera feeds later, she taps a few buttons on her terminal to make the door open. The scrolling text comes to an end, with a few red lines of bad news.

The office is dark, lit up by two big vertical screens on the opposite wall showing the status of all connected devices. There are nine screens on the wall to the left, showing video feeds of the hallways, hangar and other non-private areas. The asari's desk is very sparse, with one terminal, two datapads and an empty cup of coffee being the only things on it. There is closed door along the wall to the right.

Nathan smirks and raises his coffee mug in greeting. "Afternoon," he chimes. "Mind if I come in?" He asks as he curiously looks around the office, quirking his eyebrow at the myriad of screens.

Renala shrugs. "Go ahead," she says, leaning back in her seat. "How's it going?"

Nathan steps in, bringing the mug to his lips and taking a small sip. "Thanks," he says as he peers at one of the video feeds. "Eh, it's going. Just finished up the stock of the new boomsticks we got with the ship," he says, waggling the datapad. "Have to say, it's an impressive haul."

Renala nods. "That it was, not to mention the ship itself," she says. "I was hoping for some actual time off once the VI is up and running, but that's not going to happen now."

Nathan glances back to her. "Gotta run system checks on the ship? Set up firewalls, electromagnetic warfare suites and the like?" He asks, sipping his coffee again. "Because all the offence to Vicky, but her crew didn't strike me as that smart. They seemed more, shot it until it can't fight back then ram it for good measure, kind of combatants."

Renala nods a few times, chuckling. "Victoria is not all that bright, either," she says. "She is... well, I'm not sure adorable is the right word for what I'm thinking, but it's close. She's fun to drink with, but there is no way in hell I would take an order from her."

Nathan laughs, raising in mug in toast. "I hear that," he agrees. He peers around at the monitors again. "So, big brother, you're the techy? Let me guess. Cameras hidden in every room?"

The one and only techy. I sometimes wish I wasn't, but at least that means I don't have to be as thorough in my documentation.

Renala gestures towards the feeds with a raised eyebrow. "They're not hard to see if you're looking for them," she says. "There are a few more that's not wired up to the feeds, but those are limited to video only and just meant for the VI to track who's where."

hurms. "Sheesh, only tech? I don't envy you," he mutters. He slurps at the coffee, glancing sideways to her empty cup. "You want a refill?" He asks as he powers down the datapad and hooks it to his belt. He shoves a hand into his jean pocket idly.

Renala nods, a small smile showing up. "We could go somewhere else," she suggests, standing up. "So you don't have to stand."

Nathan nods, downing the last dregs of his drink. "Please. As much fun as standing up is, these old weary bones can only take so much!" He says adopting his best elderly voice with a small smirk. He flicks his head towards the door and walks into the hallway, waiting for her outside.

Renala chuckles as she puts on the jacket that hung over her chair, zipping it about halfway up. She taps a few times on the terminal, logging out of it. The asari then follows Nathan out of the room, picking up her coffee cup on the way. "So, what do you think of this little agency so far?" she asks while closing and locking the door.

Nathan waits for her to lock-up before slowly making his way toward the staircase. He thinks for a minute before responding. "Well, you're very small. Very, very small. But I suppose that makes sense given the fact that you have the militia in town. If you were any bigger, you would probably have a little war on your hands," he comments, a finger tapping the side

of the mug. "In terms of the actual people... most of you seem to know what you're doing. I feel that you have some ex-military in the ranks here." He glances over his shoulder, frowning slightly. "But you also seem under-equipped. At least before the raid on the ship. Your armory was rather bare and you have-" he pauses and looks around for any lurking

Jasper's that may be hiding in the shadows. "-you have a flying scrapheap for a transport. Granted, it works and supposedly got submerged, but still... if a gunship caught that thing...". He clenches his fist and then unfurls it, spreading his fingers out. "Boom."

Renala follows him upstairs, nodding a few times during his response. "Growth has been slow, I'll give you that," she says, "and credits have been tight. The people up-top has made some... unwise decisions, too, but that's not my place to give specifics on."

Nathan snorts. "Reallllllly not filling me full of confidence here, Renala," he says with a smirk. "You sound like... whatshisface, Briggs?"

Renala chuckles. "Funny how you'd say that, because I do share an apartment with him," she says, smirking back. "I'm not known for being an optimist around here. Comes with the job, I suppose: having to consider the worst case scenarios and mitigate risks."

Nathan blinks and glances back. "Oh, really? Huh, small world," he says as he walks a few paces down the hallway upon reaching the second floor. He palms the interface for the room and strides in, immediately making a beeline for the kettle. "Well, if everyone was an optimist there'd be a whole lotta dead people. Got to have you miserable bastards keep us in check

after all, hmm?" He says as he glances over his shoulder, flashing her a wink and a smile.

Renala takes a seat by the table once she's in the rec room. "That is true," she says, winking back. "I follow orders, but what good is an order if it cannot be defended when questioned?"

Nathan nods approvingly. "Wise, wise words," he says as he places the coffee cup down. He crosses over to the table and quirks an eyebrow as he points to her cup, silently asking if he could take it. "Gotta admit though, if all missions go as smoothly as earlier, we're laughing," he says with a smile. He then pauses. "Well, smooth-ish. The crazy-lady was stabbed,

after all."

Renala slides the coffee cup across the table. "Jobs on the planet are usually simple and easy," she says. "It's when they take you off-world you have to worry, because nightmares comes true on those."

Nathan blinks as he takes the coffee cup. "Well that's... dramatic," he says simply as the kettle finishes boiling. He takes her cup over and refills the two mugs, dropping a sugar cube into his. He takes both back over to the table and slides into a seat, nudging her drink over. "Nightmares come true... I'd ask what you mean but I'll probably get the default

response of 'not my place to say', hm?"

Renala frowns. "Afraid so," she says. "You'll have to hear it from the boss himself, since he's already less than pleased about me sharing details from reports with Briggs." She takes the coffee cup with an appreciative nod. "And you won't believe a single word of it."

Nathan shrugs, already expecting the disappointment. "I think I'll have to ask. All this vague bullshit is really starting to grate on my nerves," he admits. "All it's making me think is that I've signed up for something that I'll likely regret." He sips at his coffee, forgetting that it's scolding hot. He places the mug down in a hurry and flaps at his mouth.

"Mutherfuckah!"

Renala chuckles. "Patience," she says, not sounding too serious. "Just don't do anything stupid, and you'll be fine." She glances down at the coffee cup. "I hope we've seen the end of those jobs, though, and it shouldn't matter."

Nathan grumbles to himself as his mouth cools, gently pushing the mug away for the time being. "Yeah, yeah, patience. And hey, I like being alive, so I tend to leave the stupidity to others," he says with a slightly grin. "Well, whatever then. I'll avoid digging it up. I'd rather avoid drama anyway."

Renala smiles. "Good, because there's enough of that already," she says with a sigh. "I'll make sure you know everything if Wolfe does decide to send you on such a job, though."

Nathan throws her a thumbs up. "Cheers, boss." He glares at his coffee and slowly drags it over, blowing gently on it. "Now if you burn me again," he mutters to it before taking a tentative sip. He nods approvingly then looks to Renala. "Right, question... is there anywhere in this building where I can smoke?"

Renala tilts her head. "That's the drug you take by lighting the thing sticking out of your mouth, right?" she says. "You can do it in hangar, but you should ask if Jasper will mind the smell. Outside would be best, though."

Nathan nods. "Yeah that's the th- outside? In this weather?" He groans and rests his head in his hand, propping himself up on the table. "Eh, suppose it'll have to do...".

Renala frowns. "Oh, right, the weather is only going to get worse for a while," she says. "If Jasper doesn't agree on the hangar, how about saving them until you're off work and at your own place?"

Nathan looks at her as if the mere prospect of such an idea was inconceivable.

Renala smirks, and then takes a tentative sip of her coffee. "Then you've got a problem," she says.

Nathan grumbles and pinches the bridge of his nose. "I'll figure something out..." he groans, looking off to the side. "Anyway, thanks for indulging me and talking to the new guy. I won't keep you from your... spying on everything in the building," he says with a grin.

Renala smiles back at him. "Someone's got to keep an eye on you kids, you know," she jokes. "I'll see you around, Ten."

Nathan snorts, but smiles, plucking up his mug and shoving his chair back. "See ya', Renala." He makes his way out into the hall and back towards the armory.

Renala nods and turns back to her coffee, remaining in the rec room for now.
