Job Interview (Oxaris and Tank)

Vasquez is sitting in her office, reviewing information on a datapad while waiting for one of the two new recruits.

Oxaris arrives at the Redrock HQ. Having stowed her civvies at her room in Respite, she is wearing her propulsion armour. Her helmet is tucked underneath her arm, the skull screaming silently. She opens the lobby doors and steps in, immediately making a beeline for the counter.

Fergus bows to the turian. "Ah, Ser Ortoratus, I believe? Welcome to Redrock. Lady Vasquez awaits in her office." he says with a gesture down the corridor. "The second door on your left."

Oxaris blinks in slight surprise, looking at the VI curiously. "Ah, a knight, right?" She asks, her voice flanging. "That's pretty neat. Uh, thanks," she says with a smile before heading the indicated direction. She palms the interface, announcing her presence to the occupant within. She adjusts the SMG at her hip, neatening it up a little.

Vasquez puts the datapad down as the door opens, looking up at Oxaris. She stands up from her chair, putting a hand on the desk and leaning forward to shake the turian's hand, despite uncertainty whether the turian is familiar with this particular custom. "Ortoratus, I take it."

Oxaris crosses to Vasquez and shakes her hand firmly. "Yes ma'am," she says with a nod. "Oxaris Ortoratus. And you must be Chief Vasquez. A pleasure." She releases her hand and looks down to the seat, a silent request.

Vasquez nods for the turian to take a seat, and then sits down herself. "It's my pleasure to have another Ortoratus interested in working with us. Your brother performed admirably during his time with Redrock."

Oxaris takes the seat, setting her helmet down on her lap. She smiles at the mention of her brother. "Sounds like Artullin. He's not taking to retirement very well," she says with a chuckle. "He had promising things to say about Redrock."

Vasquez nods again, smiling politely. "I'm glad to hear it. Why don't you tell me a little about why you're interested in joining Redrock." she says as she leans back.

Oxaris smiles and nods politely, resting a hand atop her helmet. "Well, when Artullin recommended Redrock to me, I did a little bit of homework about the company. From what I've gathered, the company seems decent and well liked with the right kind of direction. Professional, active. I would like to be a part of that." She remains rigid, professional. A testament to

her military career.

Vasquez seems satisfied with the answer, and nods again. "That's what we aspire to be, yes, and we're growing, so this is a good time to be joining. It's good that you've done your research. I'd like to know more about you, though. So... tell me, who are you? What can you bring to Redrock?"

Tank enters the building, and after a quick exchange with Fergus she heads down the corridor to Jason's office. She's wearing cargo pants and a thick winter coat. The bulky, middle-aged woman towers at around two meters, and her short platinum-blonde hair and golden eyes only make her stand out further. She has several scars in her face, including one on her chin and one breaking up her right eyebrow. She presses a gloved finger

against the interface for the door.

Jason taps his terminal to open the door. He's seated at his desk in his usual attire. He glances up at Tank as the door slides to the side, then back to his terminal. His gaze quickly returns to Tank, caught a bit off guard by her surprising size. "Oh-... You must be Ms. Tankovich, right? Sophia?" he asks, just buying for time as he gets his bearings. "Have a seat." he continues, gesturing towards the seat on the opposite side of

his desk.

Oxaris adjusts her position in the seat slightly before replying. "Well, I spent the majority of my lifetime in the military and only left two years ago. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the turian military, but I was apart of the 26th Armiger Legion, Havoc Infiltrator." She taps one of the propulsion jets on her armour. "Front line assault squad whose

purpose was to strike hard, strike fast. I was the designated marksman and tech within my squad. So I can bring versatility to Redrock. I'm comfortable where ever I'm needed within the field, whether that's in the thick of the action or hanging back and taking down priority targets."

Tank walks over to the chair and sits down with a thump, light flakes of snow falling off her shoulders as she does. "I am Tank." she confirms with a serious look on her face before leaning forward a bit and extending her hand towards Jason, not needing to stand up to reach far enough.

Jason raises off his seat a bit and reaches across the desk to accept her hand. After a brief shake, he returns to his seat and gives a glance at his terminal before folding his synthetic hands in front of himself atop his desk. "Tank." he repeats with a smirk, "Alright, Tank, I'm Jason. How about we start with how you found your way to Redrock?"

Vasquez picks up her datapad again, looking something over and then typing a bit with yet another nod. "A military woman. Good. Shouldn't expect any less from a turian I suppose." she says with a small smile as she returns her attention to Oxaris. "I've heard of the 26th, impressive force." She looks over the turian's armor appraisingly. "Thrusters? That's some impressive tech. I was about to say our agents are expected to

supply their own gear... doesn't seem that will be an issue." she adds with a smirk. "What have you been doing since leaving the military?"

Oxaris offers a small chuckle to Vasquez at her comment about turians. At her question, she takes a moment to formulate an answer. "I've been acting as a bounty hunter for militia's and governments, in and out of the Terminus systems and council space. I have the necessary permits and registration for reference, if you would like to verify that."

Vasquez seems very pleased with this answer, nodding again. "Yes, please. Any credentials that we can verify makes it that much easier for us to know you can be relied on - not that I have much doubt. So you have some experience working as an independent contractor then... do you feel comfortable operating primarily in Terminus Space as we do? I understand it can be a big adjustment for someone used to the more...

regulated way things are done in Citadel space."

Oxaris smiles reassuringly. "I'll transfer the information to you at the end, if that is alright? And I have no issue with working within the Terminus. I have a little bit of experience with it, although I would not turn away any help or advice about it." Her talon moves idly as she speaks and her face creases up in a gentle laugh. "As you said, I'm more used to

regiment and regulations. So again, advice is welcome."

Vasquez smiles slightly. "I'm sure you'll pick it up quick. Honestly there's little that could make me turn down your application at this point - someone with your experience and skills would be very welcome with Redrock. Of course, you'll need to be able to work with colleagues that are considerably less uniform that what you might be used to. I hope that won't be an issue...?"

Oxaris shakes her head slightly. "Of course not, ma'am."

Tank nods. "I look for good planets in Terminus to come to. Aite seems like good choice. Read about Redrock. Seems like good job." she explains plainly with a small shrug - a small as it can be anyway.

Vasquez makes a quick entry on her datapad before putting it down again with a brief smile. "In that case..." she says while leaning out of her chair to shake Oxaris' hand again. "...welcome to Redrock. You'll be sent a written contract on the address specified in your application."

Oxaris reaches across and grasps Vasquez's hand, shaking it firmly once again. "Thank you, ma'am. I look forward to working with you all. I'll send the necessary documents about my previous work with the contract once I've completed it." She releases Vasquez's hand and stands up, tucking her helmet under her arm.

Jason shrugs in turn, nodding to himself. "Fair enough..." His gaze darts back to the terminal briefly before coming to a rest on Tank once more. "So, tell me a bit about yourself." he says, tilting his head to the side. "You know, what sort of skillset you offer. Why you think you'd be a good fit with Redrock..." he trails off as a smirk crosses his lips and he shrugs sheepishly. "I mean, I already know what you're capable of."

He leans forward a bit, lowering his voice to a whisper as if Vasquez may overhear him if he doesn't, "Big fan!" he says, confirming that he already knew who she was before she entered, "Look, this is pretty much just about semantics. You want the job, it's pretty much yours. You're fucking incredible." he says, casting a quick glance to the wall, fearful that Vasquez may have burrowed a hole through it just to yell at him,

"But-... you know. Gotta go through the motions. What are you capable of? Are you able to provide your own gear? Are you comfortable working with a team?" he gestures with his hands idly, "Blah, blah, blah. You know, shit like that."

Tank initially seems a little uncomfortable as she realizes Jason knows who she is, although the positive reaction catches her off-guard, her eyebrows furrowing. "I-... yes. I expected you may know who I am. I see little use hiding it. I have 3 years experience in Kraków Police Department. 2 years in the Biuro Operacji Antyterrorystycznych. 3 years Europol Anti-Terror Unit." she lists off her law enforcement credentials

without much fanfare, and then pauses for a moment before adding. "...and a decade of experience in the UCC. I have worked in teams all my life." She wastes no time continuing. "I have extensive training in urban combat, clearing entrenched hostiles, CQC combat, rescuing hostages, providing security... I can provide my own gear. Powered heavy armor. Omni-shield. Pistol. Sufficent?"

Jason gives a nod, smile still etched into his face like a fanboy. "Absolutely." he says with a nod, "Redrock is lucky to have someone of your-... uhhh... caliber." he nods again awkwardly, tilting his head to the side as if worried the next thing he's going to say may be inappropriate. "So-... Uhh-... Just wanted to say sorry about-... you know. All of that." he offers without context, "Was a messed up situation, but I just

wanna get it out nice and early that it's not the sort of thing we're gonna hold over your head. We've all got pasts, we leave them at the door when we come to work, ya know? Just-... wanted to make the clear."

Tank looks at Jason in silence for a moment, a skeptical expression on her face at first, and perhaps a little put off my Jason's enthusiasm. Her expression softens however, and she gives a nod. "That is... good to know, and a courtesy I have rarely been afforded recently. Dziękuję."

Jason settles back into his seat once again. "Now that that's out of the way-..." he says, sucking in a deep breath as if that was the part he was dreading, "...Welcome to Redrock. I'll send some documents your way so we can settle payment issues. As I'm sure is obvious, pay kind of depends on what's going on at the moment. Fluctuates from job-to-job. But we get steady work. Doubt you'll be making those championship

credits-..." he continues, giving an awkward chuckle as he quickly wishes those words hadn't left his mouth, "...but, you know... We do well enough. Any questions?"

he continues, giving an awkward chuckle as he quickly wishes those words hadn't left his mouth, "...but, you know... We do well enough. Any questions?"

Tank shakes her head. "No. I have no questions. I will be available for work immediately."

Jason gives a couple of nods, rising from his seat. "Well, we've got plenty of it." he says as he extends a hand towards the woman, "We'll get in touch as soon as we've got an assignment for you."

Tank shakes Jason's hand with a nod. "Good. Do widzenia, Jason." she says with a nod before standing up and leaving the office.
