Uvena meeting with Sioria and Jason about Va'ynna's disappearance (Skipping Work)

This logfile is imported from aitelogs2 and may contain errors or wrong timestamps.

Uvena arrives by taxi at the office shortly before Victoria meets with her crew, and she approaches the entrance. The asari is wearing a black winter jacket and simple gray pants.

Uvena enters the building and hangs her jacket on the wall nearby. Underneath, she's wearing a green long-sleeved top. She starts walking down the hallway, listening for any signs of life.

The building isn't seeing much action this early. The VI is, as usual, present at the front desk.

Jason is up in the rec room, leaning against the counter and staring distantly as coffee slowly drips into the coffee pot. It's quite early for him to be up, but the worn out look on his face speaks of a sleepless night. He's dressed in a pair of black fatigues that he just threw on after rolling out of bed and a white tanktop.

Sioria slams her locker shut as she hums a small tune to herself, having just completed a small training session and had a shower. Getting to Red Rock to do her heavy armour training early in the morning had become a regular thing as of late, and was only the first of her sessions for the day. Either way, it was time for a small breakfast before her shift begins, so she locks her locker

and heads out into the hall way, wearing her fatigues and boots.

Uvena swears she heard something on the floor above, and she heads upstairs. She walks towards the rec room, but she's looking towards the corner ahead as she heard something step into the hallway around it.

Jason quickly scoops up the coffee pot the moment the machine finishes and pours himself a cup. After replacing the pot, he puts his back to the counter and takes a sip from the cup. Even for black coffee, it tastes bitter. He frowns and lets out a deep sigh, glaring to his side at the uncooperative coffee machine.

Sioria hums to herself as she leaves the locker room, heading up to the rec room. She had packed a small breakfast this morning and, at this point, was starving. That's when she spots Uvena in the hall, and freezes. "Huh, thought I was the only early bird." she says before hooking a thumb towards the rec room. "Headed my way?"

Uvena stops just before she's about to enter the room. "I'd have been here earlier if that-," she says before clearing her throat, sounding and looking somewhat frustrated. "Nevermind. Do you know who else is around?"

Jason steps over to the table and takes a seat, staring idly into his coffee cup as he rotates it in place. A yawn escapes him.

Sioria starts off towards the rec room, waving Uvena along with her. "I think I saw Jason sculking around earlier. As far as I know, its just us three." the turian says as she rotates a shoulder, then winces a little.

Uvena enters the rec room first, and looks around. Her gaze settles on Jason as soon as he is spotted. "Wolfe, have you got a minute?"

Jason glances up from his coffee cup, knocked out of his tired trance by Uvena's sudden entrance. "Hey." he greets, propping up a lopsided smirk as he glances between the two visitors. "Yeah, what's up?" he asks, gesturing towards the other seats at the table.

Sioria enters behind Uvena and gives Jason a small salute on her way to the fridge. "Ey Wolfeman." she says before pulling out two pieces of dextro fruit. One's a deep blue with a soft-looking skin, while the other is red with a rough, coarse shell. Sioria grabs a plate and grabs a seat at the table Jason gestures to.

Uvena takes a seat at the table. "Have you been in contact with my daughter today?" she asks, looking between the two others at the table. "Neither me, her employer nor Victoria has seen or heard from her after she left for work this morning."

Jason cocks an eyebrow at the nickname, but raises his cup of coffee in response to Sioria, offering her a nod as she sits down. As Uvena begins to speak, his gaze settles back onto her. "Wait-..." he says, trying to grasp what Uvena is saying through his tired state. "...V didn't show up for work?" he asks, "That's not like her-..." he continues before shaking his head as he realizes he hasn't yet answered her question, "...No. I

haven't heard from her today. Are you sure she didn't have somewhere to be this morning? Maybe had some plans but forgot to let Aylena know she was gonna be late..?"

Sioria takes a brief moment to recap her walk to work, then shakes her head. "Haven't seen her in a few days." she says, quietly as she puts her fruit down. The turian listens to Jason, then to Uvena again. "She have any appointments coming up or anything?"

Uvena shakes her head. "That doesn't sound like her, either," she says, "and how does that explain her not picking up our calls? They just time out."

Jason reaches up, running a metallic hand through his messy morning hair. He sucks in a deep breath and returns his gaze to the cup in front of him, remaining quiet for a few moments. "She definitely wouldn't ignore your calls..." he sighs, worry suddenly washing over his face, "You don't think this has something to do with what happened at the Respite, do you...?" he asks, regaining eye contact with Uvena. "I mean, there's no

reason for them to go after V, right?"

Sioria looks between the two. She could have just forgotten her omnitool at home or something... nah, not likey. The way they were talking? Something was up. For now though, she stays quiet, listening for now.

Uvena sighs. "It's possible, I suppose," she says, "Victoria has searched her path to work, but came up empty-handed. She said she'll call me if she finds anything, though."

Jason's grip tightens around his cup, causing it to crush inward slightly, spilling a bit of coffee over the side. He quickly lifts the styrofoam cup to his lips and takes a sip, attempting to mask the damage. If it's not one thing, it's another. Just seems like bad news is never in short supply. He sucks a deep breath in through his nose and looks back to Uvena. "Hey, don't worry about it, alright?" he begins, pushing his smile

back up, "I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding and she's just fine. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions like that, it's just-... with all the bad luck in my life, I'm getting a little quick on the trigger." he says, trying to ease Uvena's worries, despite the feeling in his gut. He reaches out, placing his hand on the asari's shoulder and giving it a quick pat, "Whatever the case, we'll find her. Okay? Just-... try not

to worry."

Sioria notices the grip crushing part of the cup, but says nothing. She thinks for a few seconds on the situation. She'd only known Va'ynna for a little while, so she couldn't make assumptions on where she'd go, but all things considered? It didn't look grand. "Colony like this, tech slip-ups tend to happen. Her omni-tool's probably just on the fritz." That's the right expression, right?

"Hey Jason, do we have anything that can track omnitools around here? Communication might be bust, but the other trackable parts might not be."

Uvena gives a humorless chuckle. "Try not to worry?" she says. "I'm sorry, I'm not even going to give a half-hearted agreement to that." She stands up and walks over to the kitchen. "It's my fault," she says. "I should have walked her to work, but I didn't. I was meeting with someone instead about an apartment. The only property owner that hasn't turned me down after reading my name." She finds a cup and starts pouring some

coffee of the pot.

Jason gives a shake of his head at Sioria's suggestion. "If we do, I wouldn't know about it. That's more of Renala's thing. Worth talking to her about, though." As Uvena stands up, he winces, watching her as she pours herself a cup of terrible coffee. "I'm sorry. I know it's not that easy. But we don't know anything. We'll find her, Uvena." he assures, "I promise you." Uvena's panic seems to be quite sobering for him. Much better

at waking him up than the coffee, at least. "What time was she supposed to be at work?"

Sioria sits back and opens her omnitool, making a note to contact Renala about a tracker. She was a gun and a shield, not one for that level of tech stuff. Then she gets an idea and marks down another note. 'check for security cameras'. Finally, she comes back to the conversation.

Uvena turns around after putting the coffee pot back. "More than an hour ago," she says. "Do you even know where to start looking?" Her frustration and worry is clear as day in her voice. She takes a tentative sip of the coffee, and makes a grimace at the taste.

Jason sighs and shakes his head. "Not a clue... But if-..." he frowns, giving Uvena an apologetic tilt of his head, well aware what he's about to say may just further upset her, "...Worst-case-scenario, if this does have something to do with those thugs that came after Aylena at the Respite?" he puts his metallic hands up, pre-emptively attempting to calm Uvena down, "And that's a big if! But if that is the case, then they

aim to gain nothing by hurting V. We know Aylena was their target and the only reason they would involve V is if it helped them get closer to their goal, right? Hurting her doesn't help them. So... So we keep tracing V's steps. Keep calling her omni-tool and hope she shows up." He glances to Sioria with a nod, acknowledging her previous idea, "And see if Renala can do anything about pinning down her omni-tool's last known

location."

Sioria gives a thumbs up. "And with that scenario, there might be a ransom situation. Might be worth setting up tracers on anyone's omnitool they'd call." she says, quietly and mostly to Jason. Its been an hour, she could be anywhere... "We find 'em, swoop in, save the day." Then she looks up to Uvena. "Search parties will most likely be ready in an hour at most," then she looks to

Jason to confirm that. "She'll probably turn up well before sun-down."

Uvena frowns. "Motives is all we have right now," she says. "And Goddess help her if her fate ends up being decided by that old...." She enables her omni-tool and starts tapping on it. "I'll call her, or," she looks at Jason, "could you try? If for some reason she doesn't want to talk to me, Victoria or her employer, maybe she'll talk to you."

Jason gives Sioria a sigh. "I don't know if I'm ready to start organizing 'search parties'. We don't even know where to look and it's only been an hour." He gives another apologetic glance in Uvena's direction, "Not that I'm taking this lightly. It's definitely out of character for her to miss work like this. But there's a million possibilities for where she might be right now. I think our best bet is to take a step back and

handle this with a clear head. I can have Jasper pick Mendez up and go over her route to work. I know you said Vicky already handled it but-... let's face it. She's-..." he trails off, opting not to finish that sentence, "...I'll have Mendez go over it again just to be safe. Maybe knock on a few doors in the area." At Uvena's suggestion he gives a nod, "Can't hurt to try." he says, reaching into his pocket to fish out his

omni-tool. As the holographic interface projects before him, he taps at it a few times to place a call to Va'ynna. He begins to tap his foot, hoping she'll answer. Despite her only being missing for an hour, luck hasn't exactly been on their side lately and Uvena's worry only prompts his own worry even further.

The call fails to connect, which usually only happens when her omni-tool is out of comms range or powered off.

Jason gives a deep sigh and shuts off his omni-tool with a shake of his head. "No luck." he says. "Looks like she shut it off..." he adds.

Uvena watches the omni-tool, and frowns at it failing to connect. "She takes the same path along the... main road I think it is. Anyway, she takes that route every day, so a search shouldn't be difficult," she says, "I didn't check which stores were open the last time I walked with her, though."

Jason gives a stern nod and reactivates his omni-tool. "I'll have Mendez check with a few of the shops along the way. See if any of them were open an hour ago and what they might have seen." he says, typing out a message as he speaks. "If something happened to her, someone had to have seen something." he muses aloud.

Sioria nods slowly as she listens. "My patrol has me on top of a few buildings down town, should have a good view, if it helps." she says, double checking her route. "Then heading through the warehouse district. There's a few folks there who like to talk, I can see if anyone's heard anything. Probably more useful than downtown..." she makes a few notes on her map, then closes it. "Best

I can do for eyes-in-the-skies by myself."

Jason blinks a couple of times. "Uhh, patrol?" he asks.

Sioria looks to Jason. "Er... pretty much long walks." She shifts a little. "I'm still new to the city, they help me find my way. I just call them patrols because..." she looks between him and Uvena. "... I can explain that at another time. Its not important right now. Fact of the matter is, I can talk to a few people, get a few good views."

Jason glances over to Uvena before giving Sioria a nod. "Yeah. Sure. Whatever you can do to help." he says before returning his attention to his omni-tool. A few more taps of the interface and it dissipates once again. "Alright, Mendez and Jasper are going to do a little asking around of their own." he says, returning his attention to Uvena, "We're gonna find her."

Uvena nods. "Thank you," she says before taking another sip of the potent brew. "I should probably get geared up. If someone's got a gun pointed at her, I'll make sure they only have half a second to regret it."

Jason gives a shake of his head, frown crossing his features. "Not alone you won't. If you get any info we can act on, you make sure and let me know before you try anything, understand? Hell, she might just be on her way to a repair shop because her omni-tool broke down this morning." he says, silently hoping he's right, "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."

Uvena sighs. "I know," she says. "I'm going to expect the worst until I see her, and there's nothing that'll change that." She shrugs and takes another sip of the coffee. "Do you usually make the coffee this strong, Wolfe?"

Jason bites his lower lip, giving an understanding nod as the asari speaks. As she asks about the coffee, he gives a frown. "I don't know..." he mutters, "...Stupid thing is broken or something. Tastes like dirt..." He takes another swig of his own coffee, grimacing and licking at the roof of his mouth after he swallows it.

Uvena shrugs. "The strong taste must mean it's effective, right?" she says. "I never liked the taste of most coffee I've had, but... well, there's just something about it."

Jason suddenly changes his tune, nodding a bunch of times. "Oh, yeah! That was the plan! That kick means its working." he insists, slugging back the rest of his coffee and trying to maintain a straight face as he swallows the unnatural amount of leftover coffee grains that have accumulated at the bottom of his cup. ".....Perfect." he gasps, a slight crunch as he begins to chew.

Sioria looks between the two, then the coffee machine. "Lucky me, being Dextro." she says with a smirk, then furrows her brow, looking at Jason. "...since when do people /chew/ coffee?"

Uvena chuckles. "I'll go get geared up, then," she says. She puts the half-emtpy cup of coffee on the counter before starting to make her way out of the room.

Jason frowns at Sioria. "Since when do turians know how to drink coffee?" he snaps back. As Uvena stands, he raises a metallic hand to wave her off. "Keep me updated, Uvena. If I hear anything back from Mendez, I'll relay the info your way, alright?" He glances back to Sioria, "Speaking of which... How about you go talk to those friends of yours? See if anyone happened to see her this morning."

Sioria raises both eyeridges. "We don't! But chewing a drink?" She stands up and dusts herself off before grabbing her last piece of fruit. "That just ain't right." The turian heads to the trash and dumps the fruit core before peeling her new piece. "I'll make them my top priority. Want me to hit up Renala as well, or do you want that honour?"

Jason gives a shake of his head. "I'll send a message her way. You just make sure and let me know if you come up with anything. Keep it simple. V has only been missing an hour, so there's a good chance she'll just show up at work and we can go back to business as usual. If the Respite hadn't just come under attack, I wouldn't think too much of her being a little late for work. But given the situation, I don't wanna take any

chances." he explains.

Uvena nods before stepping out of the room, and she heads towards the lockers to get into her gear.

Sioria gives a small nod as she finishes peeling. "I'll put out some feelers." she muses, then waits for Uvena to leave the room before looking back at Jason. "Hey... It won't come to this, but..." she chooses her words carefully. "I'm still in contact with some friends back home. In Tauros." she says. "Some owe me a few favours. If she /has/ been taken and is out of town, I can get us

some backup from out east. Just... as an option."

Jason stands from his seat, grabbing his cup before making his way over to the garbage can and tossing it out. "While I appreciate the offer, how about we just keep our mind on figuring out where in the hell she is for now, alright? If it comes to that, we'll cross that bridge when we get there."

Sioria snaps her fingers and gives him the ol' finger gun. "You got it, chief." she says as she tosses the peelings. "I'll get geared and head out asap. I'll call if I find anything." She smiles brightly before taking a big bite of the fruit, and heads out towards the door. Finally, something to do other than walking and training.

Jason remains in the rec room and retakes his seat at the table to type up a message to Renala. "Hang on, V..." he mutters to himself, allowing the worry to show on his face now that the others have left.

Renala answered that she's already on her way.
