#SeekerOfBenediction – August 20, 2016
The Seeker of Benediction sits in hangar 3A. It is a small ship, a corvette of clear hanar design, with sleek, flowing curves that flow towards the back of the ship, giving it almost a teardrop shape. The dark blue hull has a striking shimmer to it, reflecting the hangar lights in a highly distorted manner. A small entry ramp is open on the side of the ship, and there a tall drell man stands, wearing a long black and blue
Jason is seated upon his armor crate as he waits for the rest of his team to assemble, dressed the same as during the briefing. He's currently looking over a datapad.
Ehanis arrives at the hangar, suitcase in tow. She is most certainly eager to get going. She is wearing her long white winter coat with large black buttons. Ehanis stops near Jason and nods to him.
Jason greets Ehanis by looking up from his datapad and lifting a synthetic arm. "Looks like you're the first to show up." he informs.
Nathan follows in shortly after, duffel-bag slung over his shoulder. He's still wearing the same outfit, but now his jacket is pulled on and buttoned up. He raises a hand to Jason and Ehanis, smirking to the pair. "First the worst, second the best as the saying goes," he quips as he walks up to them.
Jason gives another wave in Nathan's direction. "That so? What do they say about third?" he asks, nodding towards the person hot on Nathan's heels with an amused grin.
Ehanis looks at Jason. "Well, technically...," she trails off and grins. "I want us to be out of here as soon as possible."
Nathan looks back and stifles a snort. "Third's the one with a hairy chest," he says as he looks back to Jason.
Jessica lowers her head and pushes past Nathan. "Bringing out your best material today, mmm?" she mutters.
Jason gives a shake of his head at the pair and looks to Ehanis. "Trying to get out of reach of Ilyna before it's too late?" he asks, "I put out a message with the roster list for this job... I just assumed she didn't have an issue with it since she didn't kick my door in." he sighs, "Guessing I'll be hearing about this when we get back..."
Nathan holds up a hand defensively as Jessica pushes by. "Just an old song that kids used to sing," he says with a smirk. He then glances back to Ehanis, quirking an eyebrow. "Mama bird not a fan of letting the baby fly out the nest, hm?"
Ehanis sighs. "You have no idea," she says. "'Lyna is the worst. She'd never allow this, not after that Illium gig."
Jason sighs once again. "If we're lucky, she won't descend from the sky before we can take off and smite all of us for bringing Ehanis along." he says, "Love her to death, but she can be a worrier, that's for sure." His gaze comes to a rest on Ehanis, "Which is why you need to be extra careful! Because if anything happens to you, Ilyna is going to have my ass for it."
Korio arrives soon after Jessica and Nathan, gear in tow. Making hardly a sound, he simply steps up beside Nathan and bows his head to his teammates. "Quite the elegant design." he says as he lifts his head and begins to look over the ship.
Nathan gives Ehanis a sympathetic look, before stage-whipsering to her, "Just really milk any injuries you get, even if it's a little scuff. I want to see what kind of seven levels of Hell she can bring down on Jason." He cracks a grin and winks to aforementioned cyborg.
Ehanis smirks. "Nobody deserves that, not even the-... nobody," she says. "I'll be careful, don't worry. I do want more off-world jobs after all."
Renala arrives at the hangar, shivering from the brief exposure to the cold as she has not yet bothered to get proper winterwear. She is carrying her travel bag along with a backpack, using a biotic field around the former to lighten the load.
Jason gives Nathan a good ol' fashioned cyborg middle finger. Good to hear, Ehanis." he says before looking to Korio with a nod. He casts a glance back over his shoulder at the ship behind him for a moment, "Yeah. Not too bad. Unlike anything I've ever been on, that's for sure..."
Steve is a few steps behind Renala. "Shoulda said somethin', Ren. I coulda let ya use one of my jackets. Look like you're 'bout to freeze your ass off."
Renala nods. "Yeah, you're onto something there," she says. "I didn't expect the winter to start off like this, to be honest."
Aron approaches the now sizable group of mercenaries, bowing his head. "Greetings. I am Aron Favis, and this..." he says with a gesture to the ship. "...is the Seeker of Benediction. If all of you have arrived, allow me to show where you can place your equipment."
Ehanis turns her attention to the ship, as well. "Looks cozy," she mutters under her breath while looking it over.
Jason nods a couple of times before returning his attention to his datapad briefly. As Aron approaches, he stands from his makeshift seat and sets his datapad atop it. "Jason Wolfe." he introduces himself before giving an arbitrary nod in the general direction of the others, "This is my team. Everyone is accounted for and ready to move out." he says.
Nathan looks toward the approaching Drell, managing to hide his discomfort behind a polite smile and a nod. He takes a small step closer to Ehanis, his gaze quickly returning to the ship. He mutters to her, "Looks cramped as all Hell...".
Jessica grips the handles of her crate and waits to begin following the drell, her gaze moving back and forth over the ship. Not the sort of thing she has seen too often. Not that she's all that familiar with ship designs, but it certainly looks alien. Even to her. As she studies the shape and curves of of the ship, she looks to Nathan, the person nearest to her, and says the only thing that comes to mind when confronted with
Korio steps towards Aron as he waits to be guided inside. He gives a polite bow of his head to the drell, an unspoken acknowledgement that their kind very rarely run into one another out in the far reaches of the galaxy like this.
Nathan looks to Jessica and, despite how much he detests the woman, nods. "Ayup," is all he offers her as he turns back to look at it.
Ehanis glances to the two humans with an amused grin. "I don't see the problem," she says, punctuating it with a less than subtle wink.
Aron smiles politely. "Excellent. Zelynar will want to meet you when we are underway." he says, gaze moving over each person in the team, dark eyes seeming to appraise each of them for a split-second. If he overhears Jessica's comment he doesn't show it, and he turns to head up the rather narrow entry ramp, guiding them into the ship. The ramp leads into a small, unremarkable cargo hold, which is almost entirely
filled up by the vehicle in the middle of it - an armored truck with a fully sealed front compartment and a sizable, covered cargo bed which has benches along the sides and is open in the back. The drell gestures at the back of the truck. "I suggest storing your gear here for the time being. Bring anything you need onboard with you to the quarters.
Jason scoops up his datapad with one hand and effortlessly carries his gear crate with his other. Thanks, cyborg strength. "Are weapons permitted onboard?" he asks as he follows the drell, "Feel a whole lot more comfortable if I'm not separated from my weapon."
Nathan hefts his duffle-bag and starts behind. Sadly, he has no cyborg strength, so he's managing with both of his hands.
Korio follows closely behind Jason. As they reach the top of the ramp and Aron issues his instructions, he steps over to the truck and sets his crate atop the truckbed. Despite his wiry frame and the weight of the crate crate, he either does so with little issue or shows no signs of the struggle he's enduring. Once loaded up, he lifts the top of the crate open and retrieves a bag from inside containing his personal affects and
Aron nods, with a small chuckle. "Certainly. That is what you are here for, after all. We are not expecting any threats in space, though."
Jessica tugs her crate up the ramp and wheels it over beside the indicated truck. Rather than lifting it onto the truck, she simply leaves it right beside the truck. She glances over at Nathan, then to her crate and nods to the truck, wordlessly instructing him to hoist it onto the truck bed for her.
Ehanis is dragging her suitcase by the handle, though she doesn't get much use of the wheels due to the ramp being just a little too narrow. Once inside, she opens it for a moment to take her purse out of it. Ehanis then leaves it next to Jessica', also not bothering with hefting it onto the truckbed.
Jason crouches down and opens his crate up, quickly retrieving his Phalanx and holster. He holds it up in front of Aron, advertising exactly what he's taking with him to make sure there's no issues. Just as Korio did, he removes a smaller personal bag from it as well and shoves his datapad inside of it before draping it over his shoulder. "This alright?" he asks, hoping to avoid any issues.
Nathan slings his belongings onto the truck, quickly pulling out a smaller bag with his personal belongings. He looks to Jessica and raises an eyebrow toward her. "You're joking."
Jessica places a hand on her hip and tilts her head to the side. "Oh come on." she groans, "Is fucking heavy and I am tired. Is the least you can do after that shit you pulled last time, mmm? Talking your shit when it was none of your business? I almost did not get paid because of you. Don't think I have forgotten..." She glances to the crate once again and then nods sharply at the back of the truck.
Nathan narrows his eyes. "Fuck you, not being paid was the least you deserved," he hisses back. However, a small part of him can not help but act the gentleman, even towards a total bitch like Jessica... although. "Can't help you anyway. Doctor's orders. You're probably in a better condition that me to do it anyway."
Jessica straightens up and furrows her brow at his outburst. "Wha-.. I did my job! For what do I not deserve to be paid, mmm? For not giving my life story?" she snaps back, but her gaze briefly darts to Jason and she reigns herself in, sucking in a deep breath. "You stuck your nose where it did not belong. Maybe you should consider minding your own business and be thankful I don't break your nose so it matches that arm of
yours, mmm?" she asks calmly, although it's obvious that she's barely containing her frustration. She mutters something under her breath and crouches down to lift her crate up. With a grunt and some struggling she hoists it into the back of the truck.
Renala enters the cargo hold. "Calm down, both of you," she says with a sigh, not exactly eager to spend time in a ship this small should those two not put aside their differences.
Aron nods to Jason, but then raises an eyebrow at the bickering mercenaries, although he doesn't comment.
Nathan makes a noise of disgust and smacks his hand onto his bicep, jutting his forearm up toward the ceiling with his hand clenched into a fist. He then moves off, biting down a response at Renala's scolding.
Steve gives a roll of his eyes to the bickering pair as he follows beside Renala. "This is gonna be a fun trip." he mutters to Renala as he hoists his gear up and onto the back of the truck. He looks to Renala and puts a hand out, giving a quick nod to her bag as an offer to toss it up for her.
Jason closes his crate and carries it over to the truck, effortlessly tossing it in the back. "You two need to knock it off. Seriously." he instructs, looking between both Jessica and Nathan. "If you want to kill each other when we get back, go for it. But we're here to work. Keep your shit in check."
Nathan nods towards Jason, sucking in a deep breath. "Aye, aye, boss." He says. "It won't happen again."
Ehanis starts lifting her bag up to the truck, very much struggling with it. She doesn't want to be the only one that leaves the heavy lifting to someone else.
Aron continues to study Jessica and Nathan for a moment before turning around to open the door behind him with a quick button press. "You will be staying in the drell quarters. Follow me and I will show you."
Jason casts one last warning glance between the pair before turning and following Aron through the door. "Let's go." he instructs, his mood somewhat dampened by the bickering starting so early.
Renala frowns. "Mhm," she hums before handing her bag over to him. It's quite heavy after the biotic field fades, but it's nothing Steve can't handle.
Ehanis manages to get the bag over the ledge with Nathan's help. "Thanks," she says before giving it a push so that it's not in the way. Ehanis then walks over to follow the people leaving the room.
Steve grips the bag and makes a show of letting it droop a bit as he narrows his eyes on Renala. "What have you got in here, Ren?" he teases, "Bricks?" He lifts it up and sets it into the back of the truck with a shake of his head, "Prepared for the worst?"
Jessica's attention snaps back to Nathan as he helps Ehanis, as if to say 'Really!?" She shakes her head and stomps past him to catch up to Jason.
Renala chuckles. "Something like that, yeah," she says. "It's everything I think I need, doubled. When has an off-world job ever gone completely to plan?"
