Leah manages to get a hand down in time to block the incoming knee, but it opens her up to the forearm strike. Thankfully her helmet does a good job of shielding her from any real damage outside of violently jerking her head to the side and leaving a nice gash in her otherwise-pristine helmet. "Copy!" she grunts as she hears Emma's warnings, mid-struggle with the batarian in front of her. The knowledge of more incoming means

she needs to end this quickly, causing her right hand to shoot down to her thigh and grip the Carnifex holstered to it. She presses it right up against her attacker's upper thigh, right against his undersuit, and squeezes the trigger twice.
Mendez cusses under his breath as the adjunct crosses his line of fire, prompting him to lower his shotgun as he continues his slow backpedal towards the dilapidated buildings. The appearance of a krogan causes him to come to an abrupt stop as he witnesses the cruel, almost-ceremonial inducement of the krogan's blood rage. At first it's confusion that's hidden behind his helmet. But as the krogan lets out his roar and it all
clicks into place what just transpired, he breathes out a quiet, "...Fuck..." over comms. "Emma-..." he continues as he gets his bearings once again and quickly realizes that he needs to move. Now. He returns to backpedaling to the buildings for cover, but there's no way he'll make it in time to brace for the krogan's arrival. "They've got a krogan! And it's pissed! Put it down!" he calls out and does the only thing he
Jattic growls in frustration as the guards continue to keep him pinned down. "I'm locked down. Unless someone can draw them away from me, there is little that I can do!" he says, jerking his head away from the edge of his cover as bits of the old building are whittled away at. With little cover between him and the others, he's forced to hold his position.
Nathan skids to a halt inside the building as Mendez’s warning blares through the speaker. Of course they do. Because why wouldn’t they have one! He stows his Argus and reaches down to the spare predator on his belt, pulling it free and crossing over to Tara with broad strides. He holds it out to her, grip first, his voice soft as he says, “Take this. Hide. And don’t come out unless it’s one of us, okay?
I’ve got to help the others. I’ll be right. Back.” He keeps his gaze levelled on her, waiting for her to take the weapon.
Tara makes no attempt to reach for the offered weapon. In fact, it's not long before she curls up in a ball against the wall, flinching to the loud gunfire that has erupted all over the ruined compound.
The berserking krogan plows effortlessly through the heavy snow with a spine-chilling, anguished warcry, slamming full force into Mendez with a shoulder covered in jagged blades. Behind, the tall, armored batarian steps out of the second shuttle, waving the adjunct inside. He's wielding what appears to be some kind of machinegun of batarian make, which he shifts to his right hand, left grabbing a trio of grenade disks from his belt, which
he throws ahead into the open field. They scatter, smoke starting to spill out before they've even hit the ground, rapidly starting to obscure the battlefield as the armored figure marches forward, a gesture and a shout gone unheard amid gunfire commanding the two gray-armored guards in the shuttle to follow him. In the first shuttle, Leah's gunshot rips into her opponents thigh, causing a pained cry as the guard staggers back. At this
moment, the surviving gray-armored guard storms into the shuttle behind Leah, slamming the stock of his SMG against the back of her helmet.
Emma has just popped the heat sink on her rifle when Mendez' call for help comes through, and she quickly swings her aim his way. She reaches into the snow for a fresh thermal clip, shoving it into the unwieldy receiver of the Black Widow as fast as she can.
Thiago shotgun is abandoned in the snow as he braces for the impact of the freight train coming his way. He lowers his stance and storms forward to meet him head-on. The pauldrons of his armor are no match for the sheer weight of the krogan behind the blades coming his way and they wedge deep into his armor, penetrating the soft flesh beyond resulting in a low, pained cry from Mendez as he finds himself entangled with his foe.
Despite the wind being knocked out of him from the impact alone, he digs his heavy boots in to the snow, but it does little to stop the wrecking-ball-of-a-krogan. His large frame is forced back, armored boots digging lines through the snow and the mud beneath it as he effortlessly attempts to crash blow after weakened blow against the krogan's head with the elbow of his free arm. He twists and writhes against the bladed
shoulder, causing his pauldron to snap off, fully impaled on the blade. It frees Mendez but, unfortunately, cuts a nice gash into his shoulder in the process, causing blood to run freely from the now-open wound.
Leah staggers forward as the stock of an SMG collides with her helmet, pushing her towards the red-armored batarian. Using this momentum, she tries to plant a straight push-kick into his upper thigh- the one she just unloaded a pair of Carnifex shots into- in an attempt at forcing him to his knees. If successful, in a brief flash of blue, she attempts to kick off of his shoulder with her left foot, launching herself
horizontally with a twist to drive a hard, right kick into the chest of the grey-armored attacker behind her.
Jattic continues to face away from the gunshots peppering his cover until the beeping from his shields dies down and he hazards a few quick shots, lowering to a kneel as he swings out to buy himself those precious few seconds as he unloads whatever covering fire he can as his shields tank some incoming shots.
Nathan grits his teeth beneath his helm and sets the pistol down besides her. There is little else he can do for her, so as long as she stays out of way she should be safe. He stands up and runs back out the way he came, taking a moment to observe his surroundings and the battle. Mendez engages by a Krogan in a blood rage. Jattic pinned down by a barrage of gunfire. Leah engage on the other side of the shuttles. And
a terrified girl curled up in a ball behind him in the building. He sucks in a deep breath and pulls out his own pistol in one hand, a high-ex grenade in the other. Mendez first. He won’t survive for long in the open against the Krogan. Nathan charges headlong into the fray, his superior shields and armour affording him the time and safety to absorb a fair amount of gunfire from the opposing batarians.
Doesn’t mean he doesn’t throw in a few evasive moves into the mix. “Mendez, I’m coming in hot. Keep him looking away from me!”
Mendez' blows bounce ineffectually against the krogan's headplate, the raging alien's offensive entirely undeterred as Mendez is grabbed by the shoulders and headbutted hard. Smoke is quickly blanketing the area, surrounding Mendez, the krogan, Fasha and the advancing guards. One continues to rain suppressive fire on Jattic, his shields taking a few in turn, and the other does the same to Nathan, but the smoke is rapidly growing too thick
to see through. There are hints of the tall, black-and-red armored batarian walking through the smoke towards Fasha. In the shuttle, the guard Leah is fighting drops to his knees with another pained cry, before being used as a springboard, falling back in the process. The gray-armored guard seems caught entirely unprepared for Leah's acrobatic attack, the kick sending him flying back out of the shuttle, although as he lands he raises his
SMG in one hand, unleashing a spray of gunfire that smatters against Leah's shields as the recoil carries the shots upward across most of her body. A few missed shots ping against the shuttle ceiling.
Emma finishes loading in the new clip, slamming the heavy bolt into place before taking aim at the krogan, trying to line up a clear shot.
Thiago head bounces back from the incoming krogan headbutt, a jagged line erupting across his helmet, shattering the visor and caving the faceplate inwards momentarily before the left half falls off completely, exposing his face. A nosebleed is the least of his problems considering the amount of blood still pouring from his shredded left shoulder. The sharp pain creeping up his left side is dulled by the dizziness that sets in
from the heavy headbutt. He nearly slumps against his attacker until Nathan's voice rings in his ears. Backup is coming. The medi-gel that's quickly flooding his system and plugging the shredded hole in the shoulder of his undersuit is the adreneline boost he needs to stay in the fight. Just a little bit longer. Even as his own shoulder cries out in protest, he grips the krogan's shoulder with his left hand and lowers
his head, hoping to reduce the damage of any more headbutting with the top of his helmet. "That all you got?!" he taunts, cocking back with his right arm to deliver a haymaker with as much strength as he can muster.
Leah hits the ground in motion, rolling to the side to avoid as many of the shots as she can and coming to rest on her knee. Carnifex held firmly in her right hand, she reaches for the weighted blade magnetically clinging to her chest with her left and lets it fly in one fluid motion, aided by another burst of blue as she hurls it towards the grey-armored batarian's throat as her shields begin to fizzle, warning her that they
Jattic's shields are unable to stand up to the focused fire on his position and, soon enough, he's forced back into cover with a frustrated roar. "They are smoking the area! Does anyone have eyes on the target?!" he calls out, already assuming this is an attempt at getting Fasha out of there.
Nathan ‘s HUD highlights the Krogan just as the area is swept up in a blanket of smoke. Mendez first, Fasha second. Nathan uses the faint outline to guide his throw just before it is dissipated by the obscuring smile, heaving it as the disc sails through the air to attach itself to the Krogan’s lower spine. Should it latch itself onto it, Nathan would bark out to Mendez, “Move, now!” The moment Mendez hits
The krogan growls as Mendez' armored fist strikes the side of its face, causing it to jerk to the side, although the tough, reptilian skin doesn't break. The counterattack is undisciplined, but swift and hard. Mendez' arm is batted aside and the raging krogan pummels him with his fists, bringing them down again and again from above. Nathan's grenade disk goes entirely unnoticed. At the first shuttle, the prone guard's attack is cut short
by a knife in his throat, but behind Leah the man she shot in the thigh raises his arm where he's sitting, his omni-tool rapidly fabricating and launching a submission net at her from behind. The other red-armored guard that was pressed against the shuttle but had not yet engaged also raises his weapon, a Kishock, as the biotic comes into view.
Emma finds herself unable to line up a shot with Mendez still tangling with the krogan, and the rapidly expanding smoke doesn't help matters. Nathan's call causes her to look away from the scope temporarily, reaching up to swap to thermal imaging. Unlike her Saber, handling is more or less a none-issue with the Black Widow since it's more or less a stationary weapon, and the bulky scope supports a variety of modes. As she
sweeps her aim through the smoke she spots the tall batarian dragging the downed Fasha towards the shuttle. "They're trying to extract him." she informs before taking a breath and trying to quickly take aim, but between poor sight conditions and a moving target the shot just grazes his shields. It does manage to draw the batarian's attention - he drops Fasha, head turning as he scans the area in spite of the smoke.
Leah has too many pressing issues to spring into action at the mention of Fasha's extraction. Movement at her back. In one swift motion, she leans her head back in anticipation of dodging a shot as she swings her attention to the assailant behind her. The omni-tool fabricating forces some prompt improvisational skills.More movement at the other door. Her left hand, now free of the blade, swings across herself with a
flash of blue in an attempt at snatching the net out of the air biotically and redirecting it at the fresh new threat that just presented itself. If successful, in another wave of blue the weighted blade violently tears itself free from the grey guard's throat, as if someone just hit the rewind button on the entire ordeal, and cuts through the air, passing the submission net during its travels. Using her knee as a pivot
point, Leah spins on it, both grasping the blade out of the air by the handle and dragging it across the sitting guard's throat in one movement.
Mendez fires back with a quick, but far less energetic right as the krogan batters him. It only takes a couple of the heavy krogan strikes to send Mendez backwards, blood erupting from his mouth. Rather than trying to get back to his feet, however, he scurries backwards against the snow. Away from the krogan. Doing his damndest to put as much space as he can between him and the large attacker as he can in hopes that whatever
trick Nathan has up his sleeve will work. The mixture of smoke and blunt force trauma causes the edges of his vision to blur. "Whatever you're doing you need to do it now!" he calls hoarsely through the blood pooling in his mouth.
Jattic growls under his breath. He needs to get in close if he's going to be any use. "We can not let that happen!" He briefly pokes his head out to the south in an attempt at drawing more fire before sprinting north and making a mad dash from his cover towards the next building that Mendez, Nathan, and the krogan are nearest to.
Nathan doesn’t need to be told twice. He keys in the command for the grenade to detonate, the concentrated explosive likely doing more than enough damage to the Krogan to render it immobile or, at best, dead. It worked well on one Krogan, hopefully it will work again. Admittedly, though, that was a thermic charge. Eh, details. He braces against the detonation after popping off a couple of wild shots at the shooters
The krogan raises a foot, ready to stomp down on Mendez when he suddenly disappears in a sudden, thundering explosion, the shockwave slamming Mendez to the ground, heat washing over him as the smoke ripples. Slush and ceramic shrapnel and krogan viscera flies in every direction, the krogan's lower body obliterated, a mutilated upper body landing in the smoke several meters away. No shots come Jattic's way as the guards that were firing on
him are now enveloped in thick gray smoke. Nathan would find himself with no targets, the smoke obscuring his view as well. Emma, on the otherh and, is taking aim at the tall batarian again when she realizes that he's looking her way. His left arm rises, aimed in her direction. For a brief moment his omni-tool glows bright in the smoke as it fabricates a trio of grenades and sends them flying towards the hangar. They hit the wall,
exploding on contact, sending debris, snow and dust flying as the top of the wall starts to collapse, bringing the roof that Emma is on with it. In the first shuttle, the sitting guard manages to bring up a bladed arm to parry Leah's attack, gripping her knife arm with his other hand and wresting the knife from her with a twist. The other red-armored guard just barely dodges the electrified net, pressing against the shuttle once more.
