It's around 4:30pm when Va'ynna leaves the kitchen to go find Varisa.
#Miner'sRespite – December 11, 2019
Va'ynna has let Varisa know just now that she'd like to meet her, having not known when (or if) she'd be able to find the time for it today (December 21st).
Varisa has retreated to the room she was provided, taking the opportunity to get some more rest since there's little else for her to do. This has also given her a chance to process the unexpected good fortune of finding a job so quickly. She doesn't exactly have a resume to speak of, and part of her still expects the agreement to fall apart before she can get started. All the more reason to get some rest in a warm room while she can.
Va'ynna sighs as she leaves the kitchen. Since hearing about the hire, she has both looked forward to and not looked forward to this. To be the senior employee, to be a perceived authority on subjects that she was clueless on just a year prior. It was awkward the last time, and it will probably be so this time too, but it will be worth it. When she doesn't see Varisa near the bar or in any of the booths, she
makes her way upstairs and to her door, and after a moment of hesitation, she taps the doorbell. Va'ynna is wearing a long dark red shirt and gray pants.
Varisa is quick to stir, having been only half-asleep to start with, and she's quick to make her way to the door. She's wearing the same ill-fitting clothes she arrived in - it's not exactly like she had any luggage with her. She presses a hand against the door interface and offers a small, slightly uncertain smile upon seeing Va'ynna. "Hey."
Va'ynna stands up straight when she hears her approach and the door opens. She returns the smile. "Hey," she says. "May I come in?" She manages to resist the urge to fidget as she awaits the answer.
Varisa plants a hand on the doorframe as she looks at Va'ynna, feeling a little awkward herself. The question quickly prompts and nod, and she near enough jumps back to let her enter. "Yeah! Of course!" the young asari exclaims, gesturing vaguely into the room and flashing another smile.
Va'ynna raises a brow at the exaggerated reaction, and steps into the room. "I'm Va'ynna, by the way," she says as she finds the desk chair, turns it around and sits down on it. "We're going to be working together," she says, "so I wanted to discuss where to put you and... some other... practicalities."
Varisa nods a couple of times as she listens, taking a couple of steps back and giving Va'ynna her full attention. "Okay, yeah. Uhm... I'm Varisa. Although I guess you know that already." she says with a slightly nervous chuckle.
Va'ynna nods. "I did, and... I'm sure you knew mine too," she says with a small shrug. She is quiet for a moment as she thinks of where to begin. "Enila told me you... didn't have any professional experience with anything under this roof, is that true?" she says. "It's... fine, though. I was very inexperienced too when I started here."
Varisa sucks in her lips, gaze falling away briefly. She seems hesitant to admit as much even though she's already said it. After a moment she nods. "Uhm... yeah. That's correct." she confirms with a little wince, looking back to Va'ynna. "But-... but I'm eager to learn!" she's quick to add with another little smile.
Va'ynna offers a reassuring, if a bit awkward, smile. "I'm glad to hear that," she says. "The paperwork isn't... done yet, but I'd like to have you try your hand at housekeeping and bartending today. There's a room that needs to be prepared for tonight, we can do that together, and... you can join me behind the bar for an hour at eight when the kitchen closes." She looks away for a moment in thought. "But if...
Varisa 's face lights up and she quickly nods again. "No, that's-... absolutely! I'm ready to start." she assures, still smiling.
Va'ynna smiles. "Thank you," she says before looking her over. "If you're... going to work at the bar, though, you would need some clean clothes." She pauses for a moment as she picks her words. This is an unusual situation, and letting her borrow anything in her wardrobe wouldn't work even in the short run since Va'ynna is almost a head taller. "I don't have time to go to the market, and... Enila didn't want
to send you there on your own," she says, "so she's going. You can tell her what you'd like, though."
Varisa flushes a little at the mention of her clothes, glancing down her own body as her smile fades. The words that follow cause her to look up again in surprise. "O-... oh... I-... that's-..." she seems more than a little caught off-guard by Enila's kindness. "I don't-... uhm... I'll do that." she settles for after a moment, nodding in confirmation.
Va'ynna stands up, and holds a hand over her mouth to cover a yawn. Last night's proper sleep is far from enough to pay the debt from weeks of excessive hours. Va'ynna could relate to Varisa's reaction, even if her situation before being hired was nowehere near as dire, and she offers a small smile. "Okay, you should do that right now, I'll... wait for you at the storage closet." She looks past her towards the
