#Miner'sRespite – January 27, 2022

Varisa nods. "I'm on it!" she chirps, turning to follow a little behind Tara and Va'ynna. A whole evening off?! She has absolutely no idea what to do with all that time! Resting up, and then pouring herself into her new job to prove Enila didn't make a mistake taking her on has consumed her time in Freedom Falls until now.

Tara raises an eyebrow at the mention of the extra help messing up the organization in the kitchen. "I can fix it." she assures quietly but calmly while entering the kitchen alongside the asari, a tiny hint of a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. She's not exactly the chattiest co-worker, but she's never been anything but polite and hard-working, and she's gradually settled into treating Va'ynna more like an equal than a

superior since joining the staff. Perhaps the asari's demeanor has accelerated this process - she doesn't exactly exude authority.

Leah offers Enila a friendly smile as she passes her by after rounding the bar, shuffling off towards the back room. As she splits off from the group towards the security office, a small smile tugs at the corner of her mouth upon hearing Tara's addition to the conversation.

Enila smiles as everyone moves on to their work and relaxes her shoulders as she gets back into the paperwork. It's day six and the Respite is still standing, so she must be doing something right.

Va'ynna nods. "Thanks," she says. "I'll get us started on breakfast." She heads off towards the freezer once inside the kitchen, where she gathers bags of frozen bread rolls and baguettes; there was no time for fresh bread when making back-to-back orders yesterday. Va'ynna is not exactly chatty herself, and she only occasionally speaks about things not related to the work they're doing.

Varisa heads right for the dishwasher, collecting glasses and pints for the bar.

Tara wastes no time in surveying the damage done to her and Va'ynna's kitchen layout. She was quick to learn where everything goes when hired, and restoring order shouldn't be too hard, even if it might take a little while. As she works she casts a hesitant glance in Va'ynna's direction, looking like she's considering saying something.

Va'ynna notices the glance after returning from the freezer. "Hm?" she asks while placing the bags on the kitchen counter and starting the pre-heating.

Tara 's eyes widen a little as she realizes Va'ynna has noticed. She doesn't say anything right away, relocating some pans in silence as she considers whether to say what's on her mind. Whether it'd be out of line. After another look Va'ynna's way she makes her choice. "You are happier." she comments, voice soft and a little cautious. It's an observation, not a question, and it's accompanied by a tiny, but pleased smile. Seems like

Va'ynna's chronically stressed out state hasn't gone unnoticed.

Varisa hums to herself as she collects dishes, but Tara speaking to Va'ynna makes her go quiet, listening in a little as she works.

Va'ynna was about to fetch the spreads, cheese, and other related items when her questioning hum was answered. It's going to be another twenty minutes before she can do anything with it anyway, so she leans on the kitchen counter. "Enila has... adjusted the kitchen's evening closing time by an hour and a half," she says. "I thought that was... a mistake to do on her first day here, but I've come to appreciate the

extra time to rest. And Christmas was lovely."

Tara continues to work as she listens, her smile growing a little. The final addition makes her nod in agreement. There's a brief moment of silence before she quietly confesses that "I like it a lot." while putting a pot away in a cabinet near Va'ynna. Her eyebrows furrow and she adds "Christmas." in clarification.

Varisa casts a curious glance towards her co-workers at the mention of the human holiday, not exactly all that sure what it entails aside from what she managed to gather while working at the Respite.

Va'ynna gives an affirmative hum. "I... didn't think much of it last year, but this year I knew I had to partake in it, because I'm... with Victoria," she says. "She didn't celebrate it last year either, or... the years before, but she wasn't hard to convince."

Tara 's eyebrows furrow a little further at this information. "Why not...?"

Varisa 's attention turns to Va'ynna, lingering for a moment before she starts moving in the direction of the door to deliver the glasses.

Va'ynna gives a small shrug, but the answer is not immediate. "She... lived and worked on ships before coming to Freedom Falls," Va'ynna says, leaving out a lot of details that would put Victoria in a poor light. "So, she... just hasn't."
