#VVApartment – October 25, 2023

January 3rd, 2185. 9:30pm. The weather is starting to pick up after having been pleasant all day. Uvena has volunteered to accompany Va'ynna home from work today.

Uvena can be heard in the hallway as the pair approaches their apartment door. "Thanks again for helping me out," Uvena says as the door slides open. "I'll see you soon, okay?" She gives her a quick hug.

Va'ynna returns the hug. "I will," she says. "Stay safe."

Uvena chuckles and lets go of the hug. "Of course," she says. "Bye." She doesn't stick around, returning down the hallway towards the stairs.

Victoria was in the kitchen getting herself a glass of water. When hearing the door opened she listened to the conversation before popping in with "Hey sweetie, and hi, bye Uvena."

Uvena responds with a "Bye" of her own before the door closes.

Va'ynna lets out a sigh as the door closes. Another day is over, leaving just a little time before she has to rest up for another. "Hey," she says as she walks over to hang up her winter jacket. "How... has your day been?"

Victoria downs her glass of water and puts the glass in the sink. "It was alright, did a little around the ship and then went to Redrock to go workout for a bit." She started to make her way to the couch. "What about you, another tiresome day at the Respite?"

Va'ynna nods and continues into the apartment. "Yes," she says, "but I also spent my afternoon helping Uvena with painting her walls. Her place... starting to look like a home now." When she reaches the living room, her eyes seek out Victoria.

Victoria sits down on the couch and listens to Va'ynna. "Oh yeah? If she needs an extra set of hands, I can help out." She leans her head back to sort of look at Va'ynna as she enters the living room.

Va'ynna nods. "I'll... let her know," she says. "She had to buy somewhere cheap since... nobody wanted to rent to her, so there... is a lot left to do on it." She walks over to the couch and sits down next to Victoria.

Victoria throws an arm around Va'ynna as soon as she sits down. "I mean, in the long run owning a place is better than renting. Even if it needs a little bit of fixing up."

Va'ynna raises an eyebrow. "You haven't seen it," she says. "Uvena would be happy to pay rent it it meant living somewhere that didn't look like... as she put it..., a varren was let loose in there." She shuffles closer to Victoria and leans onto her side.

Victoria holds Va'ynna tighter as she moves closer. "That just means you gotta put more work into making it something. You didn't see my ship when I first got it." Vicky leans her head against Va'ynna. "Having something that needs some work, just lets you put a more personal touch in when you fix it up."

Va'ynna nods. "I... suppose you're right," she says, though her tone betrays that her mind has left the topic. "Your ship turned out nice." She sighs and closes her eyes, and she hesitates for a moment before continuing. "Enila... told me her mother can... get me in touch with Nari," she says. "It was... so much easier when I didn't have to choose, ...you know?"

Victoria sits there listening to Va'ynna, knowing that there is something else bothering her. She gives Va'ynna a moment, waiting to see if she will talk about it. Once hearing it was about Nari, Victoria gives Va'ynna a little squeeze. "Yeah, I get you. It's a whole lot easier when you don't have a choice. Then when the choice is there, you often get wrapped up in a ton of what if this

happens or this." Vicky looks at Va'ynna. "But, I am here for ya and whatever you choose I'll still be here."

Va'ynna is quiet for a moment in thought, her eyes staying closed. "Thanks. I... I don't know what good it would do to contact her," she says. "Nari won't... admit to anything, that's... just how she is. She might even have to lie."

Victoria pulls Va'ynna closer to comfort her. "I mean, she's on your mind. I don't think you would be thinking about contacting Nari if you thought it was a bad idea." She stops for a moment to let Va'ynna process that. "Maybe just sending a message to sort of connect again, maybe."

Va'ynna gives a faint hum. "I... don't know," she says. "No matter... what, I... I'm not restoring anything. My... old life is over, and my new life is here, so even if... it's false that I was in danger back on Thessia, I can't go back."

Victoria gives a little nod. "I mean, listening to you there. It sounds like your mind is already made up about what you are gonna do."

Va'ynna considers it for a moment. "Then... why is it so hard?" she asks. "I thought... I was in the clear when T'Iavay told me that her thing probably wouldn't work a second time the other day, but... Enila had to overhear Jason talking with me about it."

Victoria thinks for a moment before replying. "I think you gotta ask yourself this, do you want to focus on your current life and let the past stay in the past?" She stops for a moment before continuing. "Or do you want answers, even if they are lies?" Vicky gives Va'ynna another squeeze, before she answers Va'ynna question. "And the reason for why it is hard, is because the option to

get in contact with her, will always be there now."

Va'ynna opens her eyes again, but she doesn't move. A tear forms in her eye, but her tone is still flat. "I... should, then?" she says. "She... is why I'm here, and not back on Thessia living a... simple boring life without people like... Sala Piros in it."

Victoria leans forward to give Va'ynna a kiss on the forehead. "Now it sounds like you got your answer."

Va'ynna frowns. "It really does," she says, "but... it's not that easy. I... don't know what to say, how to... confront her, or if I should."

Victoria thinks for a moment. "Well, I ain't the best at knowing what to say most of the time. But maybe keeping it friendly at first, to test the waters and then asking what you need to know." Vicky gives a slight shrug. "All I really know is what I would normally do, is definitely not what you should be doing."

Va'ynna tilts her head as she considers it. "That doesn't sound like a bad plan," she says, "just... I need to think about it some more, but I see now that.. I'm not getting this nagging feeling out of my head until I do." She shifts around a little bit to plant a kiss on the side of Victoria's head. "Thanks," she says. "For... hearing me out."

Victoria smiles at the kiss. "It's the least I can do. I might not be the best advice giver but I am a good listener."

Va'ynna puts her head back on Victoria's shoulder. "Sometimes that's enough," she murmurs.
