[The video opens on Halisi at her desk in the Redrock infirmary when Vasquez enters]
“Linda, what’s-”
“We need to talk about Ilyna.”
[The doctor’s shoulders slump a little, and she spins her chair around to face Vasquez, abandoning her work on the terminal for the moment]
“What about Ilyna?”
“You knew. About her condition.”
“...yes. And she’s told me about your interaction earlier. I don’t think y-”
“You should have told me.”
“Told you? Linda. She shared that with me in confidence, I wasn’t about to-”
“It’s a health risk. Hell, a security risk.”
“Ilyna is perfectly safe. This is ridiculous, you’ve known her for years. I’m aware of your history, but-”
“You don’t know! You DON’T. KNOW. Fuck, for all I know she already has you enthralled. They can do that. Did you even know?”
[Vasquez has stepped forward, aggression in her stance as she stares down the doctor. Halisi’s response is an exasperated sigh, unfazed by her behavior]
“Linda, that is really not-... Ilyna is one of the kindest souls I have ever met, and she possesses a tremendous sense of responsibility. I would trust her with my life, and I would ask that you please trust me on this. She is not a danger to anyone.”
[Vasquez stares at Halisi for a time before swallowing and blinking as she backs down. Her next words are little more than a mutter.]
“I’m sorry…”
“It’s fine. I’m your friend, Linda. So is Ilyna. I know tensions are high with everyone right now, but… please… don’t let this make things worse. We need to be looking out for each other right now. Just… go enjoy your time with Jason. Relax for a bit. It will do you good.”
“Yeah… I-... yeah. You’re right. I know. I just-...”
“It’s fine.”
[Vasquez nods a couple of times, turning towards the door, but she stops before leaving.]
“What about you? Feels like you’re working non-stop these days.”
“There’s a lot to be done.”
“...coffee?”
“I really should-”
“I… was hoping we could go over some points from the pregnancy guide.”
“Oh! Of course, I’ll be right with you.”
[Vasquez smiles slightly to herself after Halisi turns back towards her computer to finish up on the computer]
