#Miner'sRespite – August 22, 2014

Renala is sitting at a booth near the bar, as she did when Vaden left. Although now, she has an almost-empty glass of beer on the table before her. She's dressed as usual, blue top beneath her brown leather jacket.

Barry pushes the door open and takes a deep breath of air, before giving a long sigh. "Bloody hell I need a drink..." he says as he walks over to the bar, sitting down. "Usual please!" he calls down the bar, then spots Renala. "Well look at that. Hey Renala!"

Renala nods at the man, raising a hand in a brief wave, but does not shout back her greeting. A small smile's visible on her, though.

Va'ynna tilts her head. "Um, the usual?" she says with a sheepish smile. "Could you... remind me what that is?"

Barry looks over at Va'ynna and smiles. "Of course, darling." he says. "Easy, really. Three pints."

Va'ynna nods. "...of beer, right?" she asks, picking out a glass and moving over to the beer taps.

Barry nods. "Yes. Three pints of hard liquor can, and probably will, kill me." he says with a broad smile.

Va'ynna nods. "Just... making sure," she pours the first glass. "Is there anything else you want, as well?" She proceeds onto the next glass after the first is filled.

Barry hums and taps his chin. "Maybe later. I may decide to have dinner here tonight."

Va'ynna eventually finishes with the third and places them all on the counter. "Alright," she says with a tiny smile. "Just come again if... you do."

Barry nods and grabs all three beers. He gets up and makes his way over to Renala with a smile. "Mind if I join you?" he asks, standing beside her booth.

Renala looks up to him, and nods. "Go ahead," she says. "So, what's up?"

Victoria walks down the stairs into the main area of the Respite, wearing her standard shirt and long pants. She walks up to the bar and takes a seat

Barry slides into the booth, putting his pints down before taking off his dirty hard-hat. "Not much, really. Work's going really well, they're thinking of sending me over on an expedition with ExoGeni. They say I'll be operating heavy machinery if I do, which I'm fine with."

Va'ynna notices Victoria approaching and makes her way over to her. "Hey, Victoria," she says. "How... are you?"

Victoria looks at Va`ynna ''Oh, hey Va`ynna. I'm alright... So how are you?'' She said making idle conversation.

Renala looks a little unsure. "ExoGeni, huh," she says. "Can't describe my last job with them as easy, but I don't think they were the blame for that." She picks up her glass and takes a small sip. "What's the expedition about?"

Barry shrugs and grabs his first beer, taking a long sip. "Right now, I dunno. Atlas is still in talks with them about sending me over there. Once we find an agreement, they'll fill me in and see what I think."

Va'ynna smiles. "I visited Jason yesterday," she says. "I'm glad... he's doing better than the turian made it sound like."

Victoria nods ''That is good to hear. I think he is a bit too stuborn to die just yet.'' she said the last part in a slightly joking tone.

Renala puts down her glass and enables her omni-tool. "Don't you have your hands full out here?" she says. "I don't know if Redrock's taken any interes in it, though, but I can't go if they don't." She taps on her omni-tool to find information on it.

Va'ynna frowns. "Why... was he the only one that got hurt?" she asks.

''I think so, well at least he was the one who needed the most medical attention.''

Barry nods and sips his drink again, shifting to take off his large tool-belt. "Well, yeah, but they'll be shutting down my rig for the mean-time. They reckon they'll get as much from the job with ExoGeni as they would my rig, so why not earn the same while making contacts with big business?"

Miles walks down the street, helmet on, string carry-all over one shoulder containing what looks like mechanical parts. Looks up, sees the Miner's Respite sign, looks at his omnitool, and then approaches the entrance

Va'ynna tilts her head at first. "I, um, wondered why," she says. "Oh, you forgot..." she starts looking through the cabinets below the counter before finding what she was looking for. "This is... yours, right?" she places the visor on the counter before her.

Miles enters the Miner's Respite, looks to the bartender.

Victoria looked at the visor ''I completely forgot about that.'' She looked at Va`ynna and smiled ''Thanks, I own you one. Thoses things are not cheap.''

Miles taps a couple of controls his omnitool which releases his helmet clamps, and removes his helmet. He then moves over to the bar, bag over one shoulder and helmet in hand.

Renala studies the ad she found. "A new system within FTL distance," she mutters. "Sounds like it could get exciting. I take it your company wants the first peek at what's in the ground?"

Barry chuckles and swigs his beer. "Yeah, probably." he says. "So what's new with you?"

Va'ynna smiles, looking a little amused. "Then... you shouldn't forget it at the bar," she says, "but I'm... glad I could help."

Miles asks the bartender for some effervescent water, and asks "Any further information?"

''Hey Va`ynna....'' She said pausing herself ''Sorry about the other day.'' Victoria said believing she needed to say sorry for the other day.

Renala shrugs. "Not a whole lot," she says. "I was on a job with the agency, which went smoothly enough." She lets her omni-tool's interface dissipate before downing the rest of her beer. "Other than that, it's mostly work on the programs I use in the field to deal with enemy tech."

Barry smiles at the asari before taking another swig. "What's it like being a rough-and-tumble merc anyway? Must be pretty damn glamorous."

Va'ynna glances towards the salarian and nods at his order. "It's alright, Victoria," she says before going off to get a small bottle of bubbling water.. After returning with it, she hands it to the salarian. "Um... information?"

Miles smiles, "too soon, perhaps. My profile sent to you earlier." places hand on his chest "Employment search", and nods in appreciation for the drink.

Victoria just sat in her spot while Va`ynna was helping a customer

Miles takes in the scene, and look around taking in who is present in the bar area

Renala snorts. "Glamorous?" she says. "I did it because credits ran out and the tech company in Linissa took their sweet time to say 'no'. It's good enough, and pays well, but I'd be happy if I was only assigned boring security contracts."

Barry hums and finishes his first beer. "Yeah, glamerous. Beating up bad guys, saying catchy one-liners, getting aaall the ladies." he sits back with a grin. "Huh... maybe the movies have mercs all wrong..."

Va'ynna tilts her head. "Oh..., but I just sent you an extranet page," she says. "I... don't think this place... have any kind of work for an engineer. I could... forward it to my employer, but I won't promise anything."

Miles chuckles "Miner's Respite, no. Freedom Falls, most likely. Engineers very helpful. Any assistance, welcome" He smiles.

Miles blinks, pauses and then says "Apologies, introduction omitted, thought-process too..." he pauses " looks at the bartender, a friendly expression crosses his face as he extend his hand and says "Miles"

Renala chuckles. "Getting shot at kinda gets in the way of thinking up clever one-liners," she says. "As for the ladies and bad guys, it's what you make of it, I suppose." She shrugs.

Victoria continued sitting

Va'ynna extends her hand reluctantly, and takes his. "I'm Va'ynna," she says. "I... can't help you with that, sorry. I'm... not very familiar with the city."

Barry smirks and starts on his second beer. "I'll tell you one thing, being an engineer certainly doesn't bring in many ladies." he says, bringing the glass to his lips and taking a long swig. "But I guess that's because eighty percent of the time I'm filthy." He looks down at his oily, grease jumpsuit and chuckles. "Maybe I've grown too used to it..."

Miles smiles, bows his head ever so slightly in a respectful manner, and withdrawing his hand, asks "Who do you know, who might?" he pauses "Va'ynna"

Miles takes to the barstool and places his bag of parts on the floor, his helmet next to him. And drinks relishing the tickle of the bubbles. He looks around the room, taking in the scene again.

Renala nods. "Maybe," she says. "So apply some engineer's thinking to it. Try identify the cause, address it, and test to see if it solves the problem." A smirk follows, her tone not too serious.

Victoria stood up ''Hey Va`ynna, I will talk to you later.'' She said as she headed out of the Respite

Va'ynna shakes her head. "I... don't know many people," she says. She looks at Victoria and smiles slightly. "Oh... I'll see you." She then looks back at the salarian. "Maybe... Redrock Agency if your... skills are useful for mercenaries."

Victoria took her visor this time too.

Barry gives a hearty laugh, slapping the table with an open palm. "Yeah, yeah, very funny." he says with a light chuckle. "I just haven't had the time to scout for girls is all. When I do, then I'm sure I'll get somewhere."

Miles smiles, sipping his drink, fizz delighting him. Blinks at the sound of a slap and looks around the room

Renala chuckles. "Excuses, excuses," she says, her tone not entirely serious. "Maybe that expedition's your chance."

Barry raises his eyebrows and gives a slow nod. "Maybe it is..." he says, thumb stroking the side of his glass. "But I'm there for work, not to cruise for chicks."

Calyx | A turian wanders down from the elevator, or the stairs, or whatever the hell takes the guests up to their rooms for the night. Dressed in armor, because it's impossible to ever get a turian's off, he yawns widely and makes for the bar, rubbing his paintless face with a bit of a low grumble. It's Calyx! Everyone's favorite demo-man.

Miles notices the new arrival. Takes a drink and starts tapping away on his omni-tool, accessing the extranet and preparing a message destined for the Cord-Hislop Aerospace company.

Renala sighs. "But there's still going to be downtime," she says. "Like the FTL trips to get there and back. You're only going to work when they're at wherever they're going, right?"

Barry nods, taking another long swig of his second pint. "That is very true." he says. "Not like I can bring my work on board with me, right?"

Va'ynna makes her way over to the turian arriving at the bar. "Hey," she says. "What can I get you?"

"Can I get a water over here?" Calyx asked from one end of the bar, wincing slightly and rolling his shoulders, stretching a bit in all of that dark, dented armor of his. "Oof. And an asari massage..." The man sniffed and looked at her, recognizing V. "Oh, it's you. Pay a visit to our favorite hero yet? Get him flowers?"

Miles sends his Engineering employment search directly to Cord-Hislop Aerospace personell department bypassing their workflow systems with ease. He smiles as he does so.

Va'ynna smiles brightly after a nod. "I did," she says. "He... was happy for the flowers, but said I didn't have to." She pours a glass of water from the tap and hands it to the turian. "I... um, don't do massages, though."

Renala chuckles. "Depends on the ship's size," she says. "But I don't think there's much to mine for in their cargo department."

Miles picks up his bag and helmet, and he spots an empty booth within earshot the group of chatting personages.

Miles makes his way over and settles in, flashing up his omni-tool and begins work on his new project.

Barry gives another hearty laugh. "Unless I'm mining for the ship's hull, but that won't end well at aaaall."

"Nice." He took the water with a grateful nod then eased in to the stool after a moment. "So are you the only bartender here?" he asked, arching a brow-plate. "Who runs this place while you're sleeping? You sleep, right?"

Miles reaches down to the string bag and pulls out a long actuator, he starts manipulating his omni-tool and downloading data to the actuator. It whirrs slightly, and he smiles.

Renala nods. "No, it won't," she says. "I'll probably have more downtime if Redrock signs up with it. Maybe that's all I have if it goes smoothly."

Va'ynna raises an eyebrow, then shakes her head. "No, the... owner also tends the bar," she says, "but... she is often busy and I... have to cover her shifts."

Barry chuckles and sips his beer with a smirk. "So how about you? You got a special someone?"

"You work too hard," Calyx tells her, looking Renala's way for just a moment and then back again. Sigh. Life for a mercenary sure was boring when there weren't any jobs to be had...

Nah. I used to, but things didn't work out too well in the long run.

Renala frowns. "But as long as I do merc work, I can't really settle down and start a family again."

Barry gives Renala a smirk. "Well, I've said it before, I'll say it again. You will some day."

Va'ynna nods. "I... do, but... I don't go out much anyway," she says. "And I... have less work to do now after... she hired someone else to do cleaning and housekeeping."

And that 'some day' is a long time from now. Maybe when that moon goes down and I have to get the hell out of here anyway.

Barry nods and chuckles. "Well, you still have a few centuries in ya. If there's something you have to spare, its time."

I can't really take it for granted when I'm working with mercs, though.

Barry chuckles and winks. "Only if you're good enough." he says.

"Ah, dammit," Calyx grumbles, his omnitool flaring. "I'll be right back..." The turian stands and heads for the door to step outside.

Miles completes his work on the long actuator and retrieves a second part that he connects to the first. He is thoroughly engrossed.

Miles looks at his omni-tool quickly checks for any progress on his enquiries, and looks around the room before finishing his now quite flat water.

Renala frowns. "And there's the problem," she says. "I can handle myself, sure, but after sitting on my ass for a few decades, my shooting and biotics isn't what it used to be. But as long as I can focus on my part of the job, I'll live."

Va'ynna nods. "See you," she says before the turian makes his way out.

Barry hums, stroking his thick beard. "Only way to fix that is going to the shooting range, right?"

Miles takes out another long actuator and connects the three together. He then bends down and applies the contraption to the outside of his right leg, a faint whirr and the device attaches itself.

Miles taps merrily on his omni-tool

Renala glances over at the salarian with a raised eyebrow, but doesn't pay it any further thought. "Yeah, maybe," she says. "I haven't actually checked that place out."

Barry smiles, half way into his third pint. "I've never actually fired a gun myself." He says, scratching the back of his head. "I can swing a mean wrench, but that's about it."

Miles applies his latest adjustments to the device, and then eases his hands down to hold the seat.

Well, you got to do something about that. The rest of this world isn't as calm as Freedom Falls.

Barry nods and sighs, sitting back, then chuckles. "I don't even own a gun!"

Renala chuckles. "You run a mining rig," she says. "Don't tell me you can't afford a pstol, at least. Cheapest ones are just a few hundred credits."

Gregorij is still sitting in the bar - he's spent most of the day there now, sitting in silence, occasionally ordering refills, or a snack. Once or twice he's been mumbling to himself.

Miles breathes, and suddenly his right leg kicks up and sends the table leaping into the air, glass includes a good inch into the air. There issues a loud bang.

Va'ynna has been doing these refills, but has otherwise left the man alone.

Barry gives the asari a shrug. "We've got security bots. Buying a gun never really crossed my mind."

Gregorij twitches from the sound, knocking his vodka glass over. It rollers off the counter and shatters against the floor at the same time as the man himself falls off his barstool with a confused muttering. Shards fly out across the floor, and he places his left palm flat against them to break his fall.

Miles winces, but manages to catch the glass in time. "Ow" he says, as he felt the impact even through the light armour boot.

Miles sees the reaction caused across the room, he disengages and strips off the leg assist, and dashes across the room, with surprising athleticism towards the man who fell off his chair.

The table is bolted to the ground, but not enough as the heavy kick loosens it, possibly damaging the bolts. The glass would fly, though.

Barry frowns and looks over at the commotion. "What's going on?" he asks himself.

Renala gets up at the loud bang, looking after the salarian, but he bolts off before she can say anything, and thus gets back down; still looking towards him. "The fuck," she mutters.

Va'ynna raises her brows at the sound, her eyes never leaving the salarian since.

Barry nods slowly. "My thoughts exactly..." he murmers. "Anyway. I'm going to grab some dinner and head home. You want anything?" he asks.

Gregorij starts getting to his feet, groaning and muttering - far too incomprehensible for the translators to pick it up. He slips on the wet floor, but manages to get up, now bleeding from his left hand. He blinks a few times and then looks around the bar with an agitated gaze, settling on the nearby salarian and aiming a punch right at him with his un-injured hand.

Renala smiles slightly. "No thanks," she says. "It was good to see you again, Barry."

Barry nods "Nice to see you too, Renala. See you around!" Then he finishes his beer before heading to the bar and ordering a burger. Upon recieving it, he heads to a corner booth to devour it in private.

Miles arriving, in a moment recognises the mans misunderstanding, he calculates he cannot stop the blow and so with open palms attempts to roll the blow down and to the right, as he was trained.

Barry reconsiders and gets the heck outta there. Dinner can be got somewhere else.

Va'ynna looks at the two worried, quickly sending off a message to Steve via the nearest terminal.

Gregorij stumbles forward as his punch is deflected. His attempt at aiming a second one is interrupted as his face contorts from pain, his right hand moving to his head as he doubles over, shouting a random string of expletives.

Renala gets up from the booth, taking a few steps towards the brawlers. "Hey, no fighting in here!" she calls out, but don't want to go near either of them.

Miles says loudly to the man, "no fight, only help", hands open and moving towards a crouching position. His expression is passive and clearly concerned.

Va'ynna takes a step back, still watching the situation.

Steve hurries down the hall outside of his room and begins taking the stairs, two at a time, with his Tempest in hand upon receiving Va'ynna's message. He's wearing black baggy cargo pants and boots but no shirt. Muttering to himself, he scans the room as he reaches the bottom of the stairs. "Fucking figures..." he groans as he spots the two involved in the altercation and immediately recognizes Greg. An asari in a skimpy outfit is tentatively following behind him, but remains near the top of the steps. "Had to be on my day off." Steve sighs as he takes a few steps towards the pair. "Back away from each other. Keep your hands where I can see 'em." he orders, but keeps his weapon at his side, aimed downward.

Gregorij cradles his head for a moment or two, hair covering his face. "Get away! Don't-... Don't fucking touch him!" He unsteadily moves into an upright position again, faint traces of biotic energy swirling around him. When Steve arrives he seems startled, and looking around for the source of the voice with a groggy gaze.

Renala nods to Steve before she gets back to her booth, though keeps an eye on the situation. She does not see the asari given that the top of the steps is out of view for most of the room downstairs.

Miles slowly rises with his already open palms showing, he moves away from the man he had run to help.

Steve lets out a frustrated grunt as he continues to approach the pair. "The fuck is going on here!?" he asks, "You breaking shit again, Greg? What did I tell you about that!?"

Va'ynna looks towards Steve as he arrives, a small sheepish smile showing up. She then picks up a cloth and starts wiping the spilled drink on the counter.

Gregorij finally manages to focus on Steve, his right starting to grab around for the Locust holstered at his hip. Blood is dripping from his left hand and he looks extremely agitated. "Not him too! He's normal! NO!" His gaze darts between non-existant people as he speaks. Some of the glass shards on the floor are starting to slide around.

Steve furrows his brow and gestures towards Greg with his Tempest. He shakes his head and closes his eyes momentarily, obviously frustrated over having to be called down. "What in the fuck is he talking about?" he asks when he opens his eyes, looking to the salarian.

Miles calculates the situation, he looks quickly at the man who decended from the stairs, then back to the man infront of him. Miles is calculating whether it is best to incapacitate the man, that was formerly the object of his aid. A quick dash and stab to the back of the neck. Miles in the midst of his calculations sees the man from upstairs looking at him. And produces the classic, I have no idea, gesture.

Renala stands up from the booth again, taking a step towards them, ready to help if this escalates.

Gregorij pulls his Locust and just as soon drops it as he twitches from pain again. The glass shards make an erratic jump into the air as the pain shoots through him. "...-doesn't deserve this! Can't-... I'LL FIND YOU! I'LL KILL YOU!"

Va'ynna raises her brows and makes her way out of the bar, disappearing through the door to the back.

Steve quickly raises his Tempest and trains it on Greg as he draws his weapon. "Dro-..." he begins, but slowly eases up as the man releases his hold on his weapon. He finally takes notice of the glass shards and his grip on his weapon tightens once again. "Greg. I suggest you calm the fuck down, you hear me? I'm not gonna give you another warning." he takes another step towards the man, leveling the barrel of his weapon on Greg's head. He looks almost itching to squeeze the trigger.

SkimpyAsari quickly descends the stairs, pausing for a moment at the bottom to look over the situation before making a hasty escape out the front doors.

Miles looks at the man that descended the stairs, and makes a slight chop movement with a hand, and draws his eyes to the man having the episode and then back to the man with the weapon.

Gregorij blinks a few times and reaches for the counter to steady himself as he stumbles - Touching the counter presses the glass further into his hand, causing him to scream and suddenly unleash his biotic energy in a shockwave hurled in Steve's direction. As soon as it is released he drops to his knees, cradling the injured hand.

Renala winces at the scream, but the shockwave makes her prepare her biotics, as well, and sending off a stasis field towards Gregorij without any warning. It's single-target and not a bubble.

Miles stumbles back a few paces with all the biotic energy flailing around, regains his composure, hands up palms out and he breathes cooly. His muscles unwinding.

Steve is hurled into the air as the shockwave connects, tossing him into the counter and causing him to lose his grip on his Tempest which sends it skittering across the counter and sliding off the other side. He reaches up and holds his head for a moment with a pained grunt before climbing back to his feet. A blue shimmer envelopes him and his breathing deepens as he lets out a loud growl and runs at Greg. With little concern that the man seems to have stopped his attack, Steve attempts to plant a boot into Greg's face.

Gregorij is frozen in place by the stasis field, on his knees and doubled over his injured hand. The silence is notable as his yelling and mumbling stops. Assuming Steve doesn't halt his advance, his boot is likely to connect with the rather immobile mass effect field holding him in place.

Steve lets out a string of profanities as he kicks the stasised man. He places his hands on his knees and hunches forward as a sharp pain shoots through his leg. He glances over his shoulder to see who was responsible for the stasis with a hard glare. Once he settles on Renala, his features soften a bit, but he looks away and cusses loudly once again. "Fucking freak!" he shouts at the immobile man. He turns around and makes his way to the other side of the counter to retrieve his weapon, shouldering past the salarian rudely.

Renala keeps her biotics ready -- a faint shimmer sorrounding her -- in case the man would retaliate once the stasis field dissipates, which it will anytime now.

Miles rubs the back of his head, and shakes it slowly. He looks up again and around the room assessing, with a frown.

Gregorij collapses onto the floor with a gasp as the stasis field wears off. He doesn't really do much of anything, just mumbling to himself - a faint sobbing might be heard by those standing closest to him. The Locust is still untouched since he dropped it, lying next to the man.

Miles asks "what's wrong with him?"

Steve lifts his weapon off the floor and returns to the man's side, muttering to himself the whole time. He steps on the Locust and slides it away from Greg. "Get the fuck up, you psychopath." he orders. With a scowl on his face, he crouches beside the collapsed man. "He's fucked in the head, that's what's wrong with him." he responds to the salarian without taking his eyes off Greg.

Miles says "and not in the body?"

Renala remains where she's standing, her biotics still ready as she watches the situation.

Va'ynna has still not returned to the bar after she left through the door to the back.

Gregorij chuckles quietly to himself, remaining on the floor. His right elbow is pressed against the floor, keeping him from lying face down. "Am I the only one here 'fucked in the head', Steven?"

Miles sighs, drops his shoulders and asks "free to return to seat?"

Steve snorts loudly at the salarian's response, "Looks like it. Just a sorry excuse for a human being." he taunts in response to the salarian's first question. Upon hearing Greg, he furrows his brow, the immediate discomfort visible on his face. "Yeah..." he says distantly as Miles speaks again, not particularly interested in the salarian at the moment. "...stay out of trouble." He leans in close to Greg. "Yes." he says plainly, "Yes you are. You need help."

Renala takes a seat at the bar, just near where she's standing, and the biotic shimmer about her dissipates. She is still watching, however.

Miles returns to his booth, picking up the servo-assist as he arrives and stuffs it into the bag. He shakes his head and slumps down in the seat.

Gregorij slowly, unsteadily, starts getting back on his feet, pushing up with his good hand and eventually managing to rise. He has left a small pool of blood on the floor, and his injured hand is completely red. He focuses on Steve once he's up, staring at him in silence.

Steve grabs Greg's weapon off the floor and stands as well. He glares at the man. "You. Need. Help." he repeats, "Yeah, I know what you are. You're a freak. You're sick. You shouldn't even be allowed near people." he nearly spits in disgust.

Aylena appears in the doorway behind the bar, looking over the situation from where she's standing. She wears a black shirt and jeans, and a towel around her crests imply the reason she's late to react. "What's going on out here?" she asks with a raised voice.

Miles collects his items, stands up, looks at the pair of men by the bar, slips his helmet on, with autoconnectors joining and systems powering up, he looks at the scene once more and starts making his move for the exit

Gregorij 's hand starts to clench into a fist, but he soon lets go and shakes his head, starting to look like he's loosing focus. He extends a hand, clearly expecting his submachinegun back.

Steve remains focused on Gregorij as he responds to Aylena. "Our friend here, Mr. Sakamoto, had 'nother one of his little episodes. Va'ynna called me down. The situation is under control." he says. He glances down at the man's hand and raises an eyebrow, "He's gonna pay for the damage." Steve adds before finally turning towards Aylena and sliding Gregorij's weapon across the counter towards her, "Mr. Sakamoto's weapon." he states, "How do you wanna handle this?"

Miles leaves

Aylena walks over to the bar and picks up the weapon. "He can have it once he pays for damages and sober up," she says, putting the gun below the counter for now. She walks over to another cabinet and finds a dispenser of medi-gel. "Should I order a cab?" she returns with the medi-gel canister and puts it on the counter.

Gregorij grabs the medi-gel canister in his good hand and then starts walking towards the stairs - presumably back to his room, without a word.

Steve puts his hands up in a shrug to Aylena. He turns towards Greg. "You just gonna let him go back to his room?" he asks, "That headcase is nothing but trouble."

Aylena shakes her head. "I said, pays for damages," she calls after him.

Gregorij makes a dismissive gesture with his hand, as if to say 'later'. He starts heading up the stairs, dripping blood along the way.

You're not going upstairs dripping like that!

Get the fuck back here! She's talking to you.

Gregorij stops with one foot on the stairs, steadying himself against the wall as he turns around. He shoots an agitated glare their way before removing his jacket and wrapping it around the hand before continuing upwards.

Steve glances at Aylena as if waiting for her orders.

Aylena sighs. "I'll give him a day to recover," she says, "then we can figure something out. If he's unwilling to pay, I can probably get a couple thousand for the gun."

Steve scowls at the man as he starts up the stairs. "If he's 'unwilling to pay' then he needs to go. Hell, he needs to go anyway. You need to start thinking about your other guests. You really want him around 'em?"

Aylena frowns "I did say when he first caused trouble to throw him out next time," she says. "He's not much trouble usually; just spilling his drink now and then."

Steve furrows his brow. "All you had to do was say the word and he'd be out on his ass, Aylena. Don't put this on me." he takes a step towards the stairs and points arbitrarily towards them, "Hell, I'll go up there and drag his psycho ass out by his fuckin' throat right now." he continues, probably far more upset over the situation than he should be.

Aylena shakes her head. "Not putting it on you, Briggs," she says. "I'm going to talk to him next I see him and give him a last warning, and see if he's willing to pay." She sighs. "I'll have to review the security footage, too. I don't know what exactly happened out here."

Steve sighs loudly. "Do what you need to do." he says, "But don't say I didn't warn you if things get ugly. He's got issues that aren't going to just disappear on their own." He starts towards the stairs, "Send me a message if he comes back down. I'm going to try to enjoy what's left of my day off."

Aylena nods. "Will do," she says, taking off the towel around her crests and folding it. "I'll take care of the mess." She takes it with her as she leaves the bar through the door in the back, sending Va'ynna back out.

Renala gets up from her stool and catches up with Steve. "Hey, I'm ready to leave for Adrasteia tomorrow, I think," she says. "I've got some stuff to do at the agency before I go anywhere."

Steve stops and turns towards Renala, the frustration still clear on his face. "Huh? Oh-... Yeah. Just..." he shakes his head and lets out a sigh, "Do what you gotta do. Make sure you're geared up." He bites his lower lip and stares over at the staircase, still fuming over Greg.

Renala nods. "I'll go to the agency right now," she says. "I can send you a message once I'm back." She pauses. "What's wrong?" she says, not wanting to assume anything.

Steve looks over at the broken glass all over the ground and gestures towards it with his Tempest. "Guy is a fucking headcase, that's what's wrong. And Aylena is just gonna give him another chance. How many more chances is she going to give him before he ends up killing someone? And then who will get blamed? Me. That's who. It'll all be chalked up to me failing to do my job." he struggles with the large cargo pocket on his pants for a moment before finally managing to tear it open and shoves his weapon into it, using it as a makeshift holster, "If it were up to me, he'd be out on his ass right now."

It was that salarian who started this mess. He was tinkering with some tech before almost dislodging a table with it, then ran up to him.

Steve furrows his brow. "You're taking his side? I don't give a shit what started it. He acted like a fucking nut and attacked me. He drew on me, Renala!"

I'm not taking his side, and I know he's fucking crazy, which is why I was ready to drop another stasis field on him. I'm just saying... he didn't start this on his own.

I couldn't care less what started it. It's a bar. Arguments happen. Shit gets out of hand. I was called in to stop it, and all I know is-... the salarian? He listened. Psychopants drew a gun and attacked me. I should've put him down right then and there, but the last thing I need is to listen to Aylena bitch and moan about me killing her guests.

Renala sighs. "You're working for Redrock," she says. "I don't think Jason or the chief would want to have on our reputation that we can't contain a situation."

Steve chuckles humorlessly, "I don't think they'll want to be known for supplying security to a bar full of dead customers, either." he says, "That man is dangerous. Trust me." He nods a couple times, looking back towards the stairs. "Trust me." he repeats.

Renala frowns. "He told me about his problem a while ago," she says. "But I'll watch him if I see him down here, then."

Steve begins to look uncomfortable once again. "What did he tell you...?"

He said he was an L2.

Renala lowered her voice, even if there's none within their earshot.

Aylena returns out from behind the bar with cleaning tools and bucket of soaped water, but start off by removing the largest of the glass fragments with a dustpan and board.

Va'ynna is back to tending the bar as things start to return to normal again, even if a few patrons left during the situation.

Steve looks towards the ground with a nod, seeming almost ashamed. "You-... Know about the L2s?"

Renala nods. "I do," she says, keeping her voice low, "and I remember hearing you're one. Be honest with me, is that true?"

Steve remains quiet for a few moments, just staring at the ground as if he didn't even hear the question. Eventually, he slowly nods. "It's true." he admits, sounding quite dejected, "But-..." he continues, lifting his gaze from the floor, but unable to look Renala in the eye, "I'm not like him, Ren. You have to believe me... I-... I'm alright." he nods sharply, "I'm fine..."

Renala places a hand on his shoulder. "I believe you," she says. "We've been through some fucked up shit and I could still count on you, Steve. I don't know much about it to be honest."

Steve reaches up and drapes a hand over the asari's. "You can count on me, Ren." he sighs, sounding more like he's trying to convince himself than anyone else, "I've been dealing with this my whole life. I've got a handle on it. Really." He continues to avoid eye contact as he speaks, "I should've told you sooner, but I was afraid of what you might think..."

Renala smiles slightly. "It's alright," she says, still keeping her voice low. "I've always been aware you... there was something with you, but I assumed the meds kept it in check."

Steve moves his hand to the back of his head and gives it a rub as a sharp pain shoots through it. He struggles with words for a moment, unsure of whether or not he should feel offended. "I-... Thank you." he sighs, "You're a good friend, Ren." He finally establishes eye contact and forces a slight smile, "Think I'm gonna go lay down. Didn't expect so much excitement on my day off..."

Rest well.

Renala nods. "I should go get the agency work out of the way, then," she says. "And, I haven't forgotten about finding a place in town with you, just... never gotten to it."

Steve nods a couple of times. "We'll get around to it." he says as he walks past the asari, "I'll see you tomorrow."

Renala | "See you too," she says with a smile before making her way out the exit.

Steve reaches the top of the stairs and starts towards his room. As he passes Greg's door, he comes to a stop and glances back towards the staircase, then down the hallway. Once he's sure that nobody else is around, he turns towards the man's door. He bites his lower lip as a conflicted look comes over his face. He continues to stare at the door in silence for a few seconds. A few minutes. Reaching down, he grips his weapon as a blue glow envelopes his form.

Steve continues to stare at the door as his breathing deepens. He removes his SMG from its makeshift holster and the minutes continue to stretch on as he just watches the door. He reaches up and wipes at his forehead as a bead of sweat begins to trickle down. He takes a step back from the door and raises his SMG as he reaches out to knock. His biotics flare, causing the glow to intensify. Suddenly, he sharply turns around and strikes the hallway wall with his fist. He follows it up with another punch, and then a third. His entire body trembles as blood begins to run down the wall. Steve gives the door one last look before stomping down the hallway and disappearing into his room.
