Yan Sun turns her gaze to Birdy as he speaks, a confused look quickly turning skeptical as she listens in silence. By the end a frown is firmly etched into her face, and she wraps her right arm around Jessica's back, holding the sleeping woman defensively. "That's not-... who are you to-..." she turns her head to the window with an upset sigh "...just-... just mind your own business." she blurts out, although it's clear that his (Tyranniac)

words got to her. (Tyranniac)

Birdy glances at Yan Sun once again through the rearview mirror as a bit of guilt washes over him. "Don't be an idiot, kid." he says, although there's no real anger in his words. "I'm not tryin' to get ya worked up. I've been around Jessie most of her life. Seen her make a whole lot of dumb-as-fuck decisions. Seen a whole lot of people get hurt as a result, too." he sighs, going quiet for a moment. "She can be sweet. Kind. Caring. She can (Dante)

also be a little monster who doesn't stop to think about the repercussions of her actions. I don't blame her for it. She is who she was raised to be, ya know? We're all products of our environment. Not every environment is healthy. You eventually get to a point where you realize that and better yourself, or you let it bring ya down." He attempts to hold eye contact through the rearview mirror as he continues, "Keep her out of (Dante)

Adrasteia. If you think she's just gonna let everything go, then you don't know her half as well as you think you do. I already mourned her death once. I ain't lookin' forward to doing it a second time." (Dante)

Jessica stirs, but doesn't wake. Her arm digs in between Yan Sun's back and the truck's seat, attempting to hug her as the soft snoring continues. (Dante)

Yan Sun turns back towards Birdy somewhere halfway through the krogan's words of wisdom, meeting his gaze through the mirror. Her frown lightens with a soft sigh, and she glances down at Jessica as she stirs, stroking her left hand over her head again. She nods faintly as she looks back up at him. "I-... yeah. I will." she says quietly, hesitating for a moment before speaking again, her gaze wandering back out the window, to the (Tyranniac)

dark landscapes flying by. Maybe it's the late hour, or the alcohol... but something about the krogan makes her feel comfortable sharing. "I'm not stupid. I know this is-... maybe I'm in over my head. I don't-... I don't think either of us really know what we're doing. What this-... what this is. I mean..." she lets out another sigh, rubbing her eye. "...we've only known each other for two weeks." She lets out a quiet, (Tyranniac)

embarassed chuckle. "She made a hell of an impression. She's... she's a fascinating person. I... I don't want to get out of her life. Not without seeing where this goes." She glances down at the sleeping Jessica again, a small smile spreading across her face. As she looks back to the mirror she adds: "Thanks for... helping us out." (Tyranniac)

Birdy's frustration seems to let up somewhat, and he gives the woman a nod before his gaze wanders back to the road ahead. "Fascinating..." he snorts at her choice of words, "...That's one way to put it. She's a menace!" he corrects with a chuckle. "But she's got a good heart..." he admits with a sigh, "I ain't saying you should get out of her life. I'm just sayin' don't be a moron about it. Recognize this for what it is-... whatever (Dante)

that may be. She got a second chance to turn things around. That's not somethin' many people get. Make sure she knows that. And if she's too stubborn to see it? Accept it and move on. But don't get caught in her gravity like everyone else." He trails off for a moment before adding, "Understand I'm only sayin' all this because I care about her. She's [family]." he says, using the same asari word as Daniel did earlier. "I want to (Dante)

see her do better. Be better. I'm just not sure if she's even capable of it at this point." (Dante)

Yan Sun 's frown briefly re-appears, but as she looks down at Jessica again it fades. "She is. I believe she can." she says confidently, caressing her head. She seems like she's going to continue, but opts for silence - the krogan is just trying to help, there is no need to keep justifying herself. Her gaze eventually breaks away from Jessica and goes back to the window as she leans her head back. Relaxation comes easy to her with (Tyranniac)

things as they are, and her thoughts soon start to drift. Any inquisitiveness she might usually display drained by what has been a long night. (Tyranniac)

Birdy opts to let the conversation die, merely nodding slowly in response to Yan Sun without looking back at her. (Dante)

By this point, the city is quickly becoming little more than a glowing orb in the rearview mirror of the truck. The Torthus-Cross building shines brightly, high above the rest of the city, however, even from this distance. The stars provide some light, but their surroundings quickly fade into complete blackness aside from the little light that bleeds out from the headlights, illuminating a short stretch of road in front of them. It's going to (Dante)

be a long night. (Dante)

Yan Sun tries to stay awake for Birdy's sake, making a few half-hearted attempts to converse with him, but it's not very long before she drifts off to sleep. (Tyranniac)

Birdy doesn't brush off any attempts at conversation, but once Yan Sun falls asleep he doesn't bother her. It's not until they've breached the Freedom Falls limits that he tries getting Yan Sun's attention. "Hey. Kid. Wake up." he grumbles, a bit tired from a long night of driving. "Gotta know where I'm goin'." (Dante)

The sun is rising, causing a bright pink color to fill the morning sky. (Dante)
