The night continues. Music rages, bodies sway. As time moves forward, the club only seems to get more packed. Jessica remains on the dance floor with Yan Sun, only letting up every few songs or so to force down another drink and give her feet a chance to rest before dragging Yan Sun back out for the next song. The more she drinks, the sloppier her dancing becomes, but the less she seems to care about it, so it seems to balance out. Eventually, (Dante

mid-song, her movements come to a staggering halt and she merely stares across the space between herself and Yan Sun, looking to the woman through glassy eyes. She swallows hard, brings a hand up to her mouth and storms off towards the bathroom. (Dante)

Jessica barely manages to make it to a free stall, leaving the door wide open as she heaves into the toilet. She sucks in a few deep breaths, resting her elbow against the toilet seat and propping her head up as she remains motionless, kneeled over the bowl. A long, pained moan escapes her. (Dante)

Yan Sun walks into the bathroom just in time to catch the last of Jessica's hurling. She hasn't had nearly as much to drink, but has been happily dancing along with surprising rythm and grace considering her usual clumsiness. She hesitantly looks around the bathroom before following the sounds to the stall Jessica's in, grimacing slightly before stepping closer and putting a hand on her shoulder. "頑-頑...? You okay...?" (Tyranniac)

A pair of asari walk by, gazing past Yan Sun as the sound of more puking spills out of the stall. A few chuckles are heard before Jessica snaps around, giving them a death glare. It seems to be enough to keep them moving, but one can be heard saying "What was wrong with her face!? Did you see it!?" (Dante)

Jessica leans back over the toilet and shakes her head. "Was-... was that fucking gross wine!" she says, because of course it had nothing to do with the massive amount she had to drink afterwards. "Call-..." she begins, but another bout of hurling overcomes her and she groans as she leans in closer to the toilet. Once it passes, she whines and slowly shakes her head. "Call Birdy..." she mutters. (Dante)

Yan Sun frowns at the asari, but doesn't say anything since they soon move on. She looks back to Jessica and nods a couple of times. "Right. Yeah." She removes her arm from her shoulder as holographics begin to swirl in her palm, and a moment later she initiates a video call to Birdy, glancing around the bathroom uneasily before looking back to Jessica. "Just, uhm... just get it all out." (Tyranniac)

Jessica has a few false alarms, dry heaving as her shoulders bounce up and down. "Fu-... Fucking-... wine...." she continues to blame, but soon enough another bout of vomiting overtakes her. (Dante)

Birdy's face appears after a few rings. It's hard to see much around him, given that his big, metallic dome takes up a good portion of the screen. The music wherever he's at is noticably quieter, though and it seems to be quite dark. "Ahh shit." he mutters as he realizes who it is. "What's wrong?" A turian walks behind him dressed in what appear to be expensive clothes before disappearing off the other side of the screen. (Dante)

Yan Sun winces apologetically. "It's... Jessica." she says before turning her palm towards the woman hovering over the toilet, showing her to Birdy on the video feed. (Tyranniac)

Birdy stares at the screen. His unamused expression tells exactly what's on his mind. After a low sigh that sounds more like a growl, he responds, "Some things never change. Look, sit tight, kid. I've got a couple things to wrap up and then I'll be down, alright? Just don't let her outta your sight. And don't let her leave that bathroom until I get down there!" he instructs, "Last thing we need is her getting in more trouble..." His (Dante)

attention snaps to the side as someone gets his attention and the call fades to black. (Dante)

Jessica gives another pained groan, but glances back over her shoulder as she hears the krogan's voice. "Biiiiiirdy!" she says with great, drunken enthusiasm as her glassy eyes struggle to focus. As the call fades out, she's left staring at Yan Sun and looks a little confused. (Dante)

Yan Sun 's interface fades away after the call ends, and she offers a reassuring smile to Jessica, although it's clear she's a little disgusted. "He's... he's coming. We'll just... wait here." she says with another glance out of the stall. (Tyranniac)

Jessica gives a couple of confused nods, not entirely catching all that Yan Sun is saying. "Mmmm. Is-... Was fun night, yes? Too bad for-... for fucking wine-..." she stammers, lowering her head back into her hand as it hangs over the toilet. (Dante)

The bathroom is a constant source of foot traffic, and the stares continue as each new person enters and walks by the stall. Most seem content to just steal a glance and continue on their way, but a few have a chuckle and some share whispers and rude comments back and forth. (Dante)

Yan Sun glares at anyone that stops for too long. She lets out a chuckle at Jessica's comment, a faint, somewhat tipsy smile spreading across her lips despite the situation, although she remains anxious. "It was fun. Yes. ...time to go though, I think." (Tyranniac)

Jessica frowns, although given that her face is nearly in the toilet bowl, it's impossible to see. "Wha-... go? Noooo, I'm not done-... done dancing..." she slurs. "Night is just getting started, kitty cat!" she snickers. "Dragon cat, mmm?" Another bout of laughter escapes her. And the laughter continues. She seems to really find the idea of a dragon cat funny. (Dante)

Birdy arrives a few minutes later, stomping right into the restroom with little regard for anyone else that might be around. As he spots Yan Sun, he approaches the stall and looks inside. "Where have I seen this before?" he grunts sarcastically, letting out a long, annoyed sigh. Birdy's wide stature fills the entirety of the stall as he sidesteps past Yan Sun and enters the stall sideways. It looks as though if he were to let out a deep (Dante)

breath, the stall might crack outward at the seams and splinter wide open on both sides. "Come on, Jessie." he says, stepping forward and wrapping an arm around Jessica's waist to hoist her up to her feet. When it becomes obvious to him that Jessica isn't in total control of her body at this point, he just hoists her up into his arms like a doll and exits out of the stall. "If she pukes in my truck, you're cleaning it up." he tells (Dante)

Yan Sun bluntly. (Dante)

Jessica seems to protest against the idea of being carried. "I'm fiiine, Birdy. I can walk!" she shouts, causing the few people who weren't watching the scene unfold to look their way as well. As they near the door and the music becomes louder, her hands shoot back into the air. (Dante)

Yan Sun 's eyes go wide as she spots Birdy, as if she'd forgotten what he looked like during their time in the club. She hurriedly stumbles out of the krogan's way, and follows him out of the bathroom after he's scooped up Jessica. A frown quickly manifests on her face as they reach the exit, the music and the lights no longer seeming so appealing. (Tyranniac)

Birdy doesn't set Jessica down until they're right outside of his truck. "Where are you two staying?" he asks, his frustration over the situation quite apparent. He opens the back door to his truck and makes his way towards the front. (Dante)

Jessica remains silent, a wide smile on her face as she just stares at Yan Sun, one hand pressed against the truck to keep her wobbly legs stable. (Dante)

Yan Sun seems relieved to be outdoors, taking a few deep breaths to clear her head as they head towards the truck. The question causes her to stop dead in her tracks. "Uhm... we... we're staying in Freedom Falls. To the east?" Her frown deepens as she realizes she hasn't checked the possibility of night-time transport since she hadn't expected to stay so long. "The-... are there any long-range shuttles running this late?" (Tyranniac)

Birdy lets out a loud groan and slams a heavy fist against the top of the truck, causing the entire thing to list back and forth slightly. "Are you shitting me!?" he scowls. "No, of course there's no-... You're not just gonna get a ride like that without setting it up in advance!" He jerks the front door open and looks back at the other two. "Just-... Just get in the fucking truck. I'll take you home. Gonna take all damn night." He steps up (Dante

into the truck, but cocks a glance back at Jessica before climbing in. "Back for one night and already derailing my whole life. Like ya never even left." (Dante)

Jessica snickers at Birdy's frustration. "Is fiiiine. I have credits. Am rich now, Birdy! I can pay!" she insists, swaying slightly in place. (Dante)

Birdy's only response is to slam the front door shut once he's inside. (Dante)

Jessica nods to Yan Sun as if to say 'that's settled' and then climbs into the back seat of the truck with some difficulty. (Dante)

Yan Sun jumps back at Birdy's outburst, a startled look on her face. She repeatedly, uncomfortably, nods at the rant and quickly joins Jessica in the back seat of the truck, closing the door. "Th-... right. Thank you. B-... uhm... Bir-......-dy...?" she says, more of a question than anything since she's not aware of anything else to address the krogan with. "We can pay. It's true." (Tyranniac)

Jessica quickly kicks her shoes off into the floor board and brings her legs up onto the back seat, laying her head back in Yan Sun's lap like a pillow as she stares up the the ceiling of the vehicle. "We're riiiiich!" she repeats. (Dante)

Birdy visibly twitches at the stupid nickname, but reigns himself in as she doesn't know any better. "I don't need your credits." he sighs. The truck starts up and slowly lurches forward as he navigates back through the alley they entered through. The front of the club is every bit as alive as when they arrived and the thumping of the music can still be felt through the truck. The truck rolls to a stop out front and Birdy gives the bouncer (Dante)

another acknowledgement before continuing on his way down the street. "Just-... make sure she's alright." he says, his tone softening somewhat now that the impact of having to drive all night has worn off, "If it looks like she's gonna toss her lunch, give me a warning so I can pull over." (Dante)

Yan Sun adjusts her position a bit as Jessica lies her head down in her lap. She doesn't seem too keen on being pillow for a potential puke-bomb, but the drunk woman's enthusiasm brings out a small smirk as she looks down at her. She starts stroking the top of Jessica's head gently while turning her attention back to Birdy. "Uh... yeah. Yeah, I will." she says before adding another "Thanks." Her gaze turns to the window as they (Tyranniac)

drive through town, and she soon leans her head back, letting out a tired sigh, relieved not to have to stay sharp for Jessica's sake anymore, and starting to relax a bit again, the dark outside and the shudder of the car quite calming. (Tyranniac)

This part of the city is mostly dead. There's not many lights aside from the truck's headlights and the bright shine of Illumination at their back, spilling out even over the top of- and around- abandoned buildings that come between the club and their truck as they continue towards the edge of the city. The only foot traffic out this far is the occasional Enforcer. It would seem that anyone with any intention of being in this part of the city (Dante)

is probably at Illumination. It's not long before the car breaches the city bounderies. It's a jarring change of scenary. An urban jungle that instantly gives way to rollng countryside, like a seam that melds nature with the man-made. Aside from the light pollution from the city, there's little to see in the darkness. The mountain range to the East can faintly be made out. Small dots of light from nearby homesteads and farming communities (Dante)

populate the distance, though given the clear sightlines they could be miles away. The paved road doesn't last long once the buildings are at their backs and, before long, the truck is softly bouncing over a dirt path. The shocks, made for a krogan driver, do a good job of keeping the ride relatively smooth for the people inside. (Dante)

Birdy keeps his attention focused on the path in front of them and remains quiet until they're a short distance outside of the city. "So-... how do you know Jessie?" he asks, attempting to make idle chit chat after feeling bad for blowing up like he did over something Yan Sun had little control over. He's well aware of how Jessica is. (Dante)

Jessica's eyes have drifted shut by this point, but they snap open at the sound of the krogan's voice. "I-... I win her like a prize!" she says groggily, reaching up with one hand to grip Yan Sun's cheeks and give them a squeeze. "Mmmm? Was on a job and-... and I save her life so-... So she is mine now." she explains with a short nod and chuckle. She draws her hand back and rolls onto her side, facing Yan Sun's tummy as she curls up a (Dante)

bit more and presses up against her 'pillow'. Birdy doesn't acknowledge her in any way, still awaiting a response from Yan Sun. (Dante)

Yan Sun seems rather entranced by the empty, dark countryside, which makes far more of an impression down on the ground level than flying above in a shuttle. Her gaze remains out into the dark, growing more and more relaxed until Birdy speaks. She goes to answer but is cut off by Jessica. Her words and the squeeze of her cheeks causes a brief look of annoyance to cross her face. Behavior found fine in private seems far less so at (Tyranniac)

the moment, and the alcohol that still remains shields against often-seen timidity. She bats the hand away, but as Jessica rolls to her side and cuddles up her frown inevitably fades, and she resumes stroking her head as she looks to Birdy instead. "We met during the big expedition. ExoGeni and Syranis?" she shrugs. "I-... we had... fun? And thought... maybe getting to know each other a little better now that the-... it's (Tyranniac)

over, the expedition, wouldn't... be such a bad idea." She glances down at Jessica as if to see if she has any objections, although quickly realizes she might not even be paying attention. (Tyranniac)

Jessica is not only not paying attention, but it's only a few more moments before a soft snoring is the only sound she makes. (Dante)

Birdy nods to himself. "Fun..." he repeats Yan Sun's words with a snort and rotates slightly to give a glance to the back seat, temporarily taking his focus off the road. His eyes dart around until they find Jessica and a toothy, krogan smile crosses his face. He turns his attention back to the path before continuing, "Eh. Aside from the whole 'uprooting all of my plans' bit, I can't say it ain't good to see her again, alive and well... And (Dante

that she ain't lettin' everything that happened snuff the life out of her. Was a shit situation no matter how ya look at it." (Dante)

Yan Sun glances down as she hears the snoring, and a tiny smirk tugs at the corner of her mouth. She looks up as Birdy speaks again, nodding slightly, and by the end letting out a sigh. "Yeah... I-... she... she's talked about it. I don't-... it's horrible." she says, discomfort and sadness both crossing her face as she glances out the window again, but as her gaze falls to Jessica a small, sad smile forms. "You're right though. (Tyranniac)

She's-... I-... I didn't know her before, but... I do now. I... I think I do. And... she's not... 'snuffed out'." She blinks a couple of times and turns her gaze out the window again as she seems to choke up a little. "I... she clearly loved them... a lot. Can't imagine what it did to her to..." she shakes her head. "I'm sorry, I-... I shouldn't be-..." she trails off, just stroking Jessica's head silently. (Tyranniac)

Birdy remains quiet for a short period before speaking up again. "It's good she's got someone lookin' out for her. She certainly ain't capable of keepin' her own ass out of the fire-... Ugh, bad choice of words..." he says, glancing at Yan Sun through the rear view mirror. "Ya know, I've been around Adrasteia a long time. Since long before it was goin' by that name. Seen more drama than I care to admit and more than a few fights. Only a (Dante)

couple people still in that city with as much time invested in its well being as me. But the players-..." he shakes his head, "You know, the ones that really change up the game. They shift around. Most of us old timers just keep our heads low, try and keep the peace and let the rest of 'em fight it out. None of us knew what to make of it when Cross showed up. Shoulda been a fish outta water, headin' home with his tail between his legs (Dante

inside of a week." he explains, "I don't know what that one told ya, but we're all holdin' a lot of guilt over what happened that day. So, as much as I'd like to be sittin' at home right now rather than lookin' at another good six-plus hours on the road-... I ain't gonna complain. Knowin' she's alright is a victory I'll take." (Dante)

Yan Sun listens in silence, and at the end she offers a small nod. "She... she told me about Cross, and... and everything. I'm not really... I'm not... from around here. I'm from Earth. So... this place is all... very new to me. But I know his type." She lets out a sigh, looking down at Jessica again and running a finger along her ear. She moves her gaze out the window as she speaks, the combination of the late hour and the alcohol (Tyranniac)

keeping her talking. "I don't-... I don't know what this is, or... what we're doing... or... or what this is to her... and... I've only known her for a few weeks, but... I care about her. I really do. She's... something else." (Tyranniac)

Birdy listens, occasionally glancing at Yan Sun through the rearview mirror. Another sigh escapes him. "Look, kid. As disgustingly sweet as all that is, and as happy as I am that Jessie has someone keepin' her in line-..." he trails off, picking his words carefully before continuing, "Trouble follows that one. And it ain't just bad luck. Love her to death and I'd do damn near anything to help her but-..." he goes quiet again, groaning as (Dante)

he's afraid he may be getting the wrong message across. "I ain't sayin' she's not worth the trouble. I'm just sayin' that sometimes you need to know when to cut your losses and move on. Advice that people need to take more often. Poor kid probably wouldn't even be in this mess if her mom would've taken that sentiment to heart and left her old man before he dragged all of 'em down. Hell, my life would be a whole lot better if I could (Dante)

take my own damn advice and get out of this place." he follows with a chuckle. "So... I guess what I'm tryin' to say is: get her on track or get out of her life. Otherwise things will get bad. And I'd hate to see more people dragged down in the fire with her..." He seems to instantly regret the harshness in his last sentence and he glances back briefly to make sure she's not awake. (Dante)
