Tarkus was sitting in a booth by himself, he was wearing his armor and a full glass of turian alcohol in front of him. He asked Jason if he wanted a drink and was awaiting for his friend.

Jason steps through the Respite door in a pair of black pants, boots, and a thick, brown canvas jacket over his white t-shirt. He stops just inside, shivvering slightly as he stomps some of the snow free from his boots and wipes it from his shoulders. As he spots the familiar turian, he raises a hand and starts towards the booth. He had, of course, accepted the offer to have a drink waiting for him. Rum and cola, as per usual.

"Shit, Tarkus..." he comments as he approaches the booth and looking the turian's armor over, "...I'm not underdressed for whatever you needed to talk to me about, am I...?" He slides into the seat across from Tarkus, scooting deeper into the booth as he waits for the chill to leave him.

((looks the turian's armor over*))

Tarkus looks up to see Jason move towards the booth and gives a wave. When the human asked if he was underdressed for this talk, Tarkus shook his head. "No, it is just difficult to break the habit of wearing armor constantly on Omega. Plus, this is the warmest thing I own." He takes a sip of his drink. "Turians don't do cold, normally."

Jason snickers but gives a nod as the familiar lopsided grin returns to his face. "Fair enough. Funny that you called, actually. I was planning on asking you to get a drink tonight anyway. Got some big news." he says, leaning forward to grab the drink Tarkus had waiting for him. He takes a tentative sip of it, testing it to make sure the turian got his order right. When satisfied he gives a nod to himself and takes a larger drink

before setting it down. "But that can wait. What's up? Everything alright on your end?"

Tarkus gives a nod to Jason, he was glad to see that the human did not change that much from last time they were together, apart from the cybernetics. "Yeah, everything is alright. Just figure I would finally give you a straight answer, about what happened to me." He takes another sip of his drink. "Since the last time we chatted and that whole rescue thing, that I could have escaped from." He said in a joking tone.

Jason cocks an eyebrow. "Uh huh. You had the whole situation under control." he says sarcastically, though his grin remains. "Had been a minute since I saw you before all that." He frowns briefly and looks down towards the table as he recalls the last time they spoke. "Omega." he says as his gaze rises to meet the turian's once more, "I don't know if I said it before, but I appreciate the backup..." It seems pretty clear that he

doesn't want to remain on the subject for long given what transpired that day and he quickly takes another sip of his drink. "So what brought you from there to here?" he asks, quickly switching topics.

Tarkus gives a nod to the human "Well, you ruined my escape plan. So I guess we are even." He joked yet again. "Well, ended up on that ship because I took a job. One of the turian crew members kind of recognised my markings, and put two and two together with my last name." He just gives a sigh at that last part. "The price of having a high ranking official as a brother."

Jason gives another chuckle. "Yeah. I think you mentioned that before." he says, "I mean why were you there in the first place? Hell, why are you here for that matter?" He puts a hand up defensively, cutting Tarkus off before he has a chance to respond, "Don't get me wrong. It's always nice to see a friendly face and it's great having you around. But I mean-...." he trails off before sighing, tired of tip toeing around it. "You

seemed to have a good thing going with whatsherface-..." he frowns, glancing to the table once again as he tries to recall the woman's name.

Tarkus takes a large sip of his drink once Jason has finished talking. "Yeah, I believe that is over with her. I took the job since I was running low on credits, and I had not heard from her since..." He stops himself and remains silent for a moment "So basically took the job to keep on living."

Jason's gaze moves to his drink, giving a little nod as Tarkus speaks. "I-... shit. Sorry, man." he offers before looking back to his friend. "You-... uhh..... You wanna talk about it...?" he asks awkwardly as he takes another sip of his drink. The whole 'talking things out' and 'feelings' weren't really his strong suit, but sometimes you make sacrifices for friendship.

Tarkus shakes his head "Nah, I am good. You gotta keep on moving forward to progress in life." He takes another large sip of his drink. "Anyway, that is old news now. You said you had some good news? Or was my translator or ears mishear what you said." Tarkus was not fully over the break up he had, but he would rather not open up old wounds and just leave the subject in the past.

Jason sets his drink down, giving a bit of a dismissive shrug. "I-... Yeah." he says, suddenly feeling guilty over his own good news given Tarkus' situation. He gives a tilt of his head, almost apologetically. "It's Linda..." he continues, a sheepish smirk returning to his face, "...Well, you know we're getting married in a couple weeks and shit-..." he pauses, furrowing his brow as he looks pointedly towards Tarkus as something

seems to occur to him, "...And you're going to be attending the wedding." It wasn't even a question. A matter-of-fact statement. There are few people on Aite that Jason has known as long as Tarkus and, dammit, he's coming to the wedding whether he likes it or not. Now that that business was out of the way, he clears his throat and continues, "Anyway.... She dropped a pretty big bomb on me last night." His smirk turns into

a full-on smile, "I'm gonna be a father! I gotta admit, it caught me off guard. Way the fuck off guard but-.... But this is good." he nods to himself, his synthetic hand wrapping around his glass once again as he repeats his words, "This is good."

Tarkus gives the human a turian version of a smile. "That is good to hear. I am sure you will be a good father." He takes a small sip of his drink this time. "But why is my invitation to your wedding a verbal invitation? Why can't I get a fancy invitation?" Clearly joking about the invitation.

Jason's smile grows at Tarkus' suggestion that he'll make a good father. As the turian finishes, Jason gives another chuckle before his hand releases its grip from his glass and his middle finger slowly raises. "Fancy enough for you?" he jokes and takes another swig of his drink. "Come on. You've known me long enough. Does the word 'fancy' come to mind when you think of me? Hell, at least your invitation is verbal. I was just

planning on sending most people a message with a time and a date."

Tarkus gives a shrug "You and fancy go together like a thresher maw and anything living. Would have figured Vasquez to be more organised with something fancy." He stops again for a moment to stretch out his arms. "But giving people a message with the date and time, would be enough. Well, at least for me."

Jason nods and raises his drink up a bit in a mock toast. "Hear, hear." he says. "Nah. Linda has actually already been all over me about the number of people I'm inviting. Think she was just expecting something small." He shrugs, "Figure this is a once in a lifetime sort of thing. Might as well make it a party. It'll be a good time, I promise" He tilts his head towards Tarkus and lifts his glass once again, shaking it a bit,

"So... you know. To 'keeping on living'." he toasts with a smirk, using the turian's own words. He takes a quick swig, savouring the burn for a moment before setting his glass back down and looking across to the turian, his expression growing more sincere. "It took a whole lot of hurt to get to where I am right now, Tarkus. A lot of heartache." he sighs. His gaze breaks from the turian momentarily, focusing on his drink

once more, "You'll figure it all out. Because you don't have much of a choice." he chuckles, "If there's one thing life has taught me, it's that it keeps moving whether you're ready for it to or not... But you're a good guy. A good friend. You'll find that special someone eventually." He re-establishes eye contact, offering Tarkus a friendly smile, "And if you ever decide you do want to talk about it. I'm always willing

ot lend an ear for an old friend."

((willing to lend*))

Tarkus gives a nod to Jason, he was glad to call the human a friend. He was also happy for Jason about his marriage and becoming a father. "I will talk about it eventually. Just don't want to reopen, somewhere in the middle of fresh and old, wounds right now." He downs what remains of his drink. "But, you will probably be the first person I talk about it to. So you have time to prepare for that talk."
