Not even five minutes pass by before a call from Va'ynna appears on Victoria's omni-tool. She's requesting a video call, but there's an option to downgrade to audio only when accepting.

Victoria was half way down her first drink by the time the call arrived. Vicky decides it would be better to accept the video call, she puts her drink to the side and accepts the call. The cam would focus on Vicky's face and it is easy to see that her eyes are a little red.

Va'ynna soon appears on her screen, worry written all over the asari's face. She's not trying to hide what she thinks about that message. There's a hint of relief when the backdrop of the video feed is familiar, but it's not much more than a hint. "What... is going on?" she asks. "Are you okay?" The video feed is mostly aimed at her face, but her dark green shirt shows up.

The video feed is unstable due to the outside weather interfering with wireless communication, the wired networks only covering central or important businesses. The frame rate is eight per second at best, and frames often drop; sometimes key ones do and cause compression artifacts for the next few seconds. The audio quality is poor, but is otherwise unaffected by the adverse network conditions.

Victoria 's facial expression are quite blank, she does give Va'ynna a quick smile before it goes back to blank. "Just some bad news about some family stuff. I'll tell you more about once you are home." Vicky has a slight tone of sadness in her voice.

Va'ynna tilts her head as she listens to her explanation, but at the end of it she sighs with relief. It wasn't an emergency at least. "Why... why didn't you say that in the message?" she asks. "I was worried about you, that... that something had happened."

Victoria gives a sigh and shrugs, knowing that the shrug probably no be seen. "I had no idea how to put it in a message. I figured a simple message would be fine. I'm sorry, should have told you more."

Va'ynna nods. It was good to know that she wasn't sick, or worse. Maybe Va'ynna overreacted, but it would be far worse if it turned out to be bad and she waited until the end of the day. She lets out another sigh. "It's fine," she says. "I'll... get Uvena to take me home after work, then... we can talk about it."

Victoria nods as well, Vicky realised that she would have been better sending a little more information but it is too late for that now. "Sorry about that, Vay, should have told you more in the message." She gives a scratch to her head. "But, I'll talk to you about it when you get home."

Va'ynna gives another nod, and moves to hover her finger over to the button to close the call. "I'm... sorry," she says, Victoria's sadness starting to reflect on her face. "Something's bothering you and I... I... cannot be with you until tonight."

Victoria just smiled at Va'ynna, she could see that Vay truly cared for her and that warmed her heart. "That is okay, it will give me sometime by myself to think and remember." The smile still on her face remains, for the time being. "I will see you tonight."

Va'ynna sighs. "Sixteen hours to think and remember," she says with a frown. "I'll see you tonight, Victoria." She looked reluctantly at the screen for another two seconds before pressing the button to end the call.

Victoria just smiles and nod at Va'ynna, trying to act strong as best as she could until the call ended. Once the call ended Vicky's face went back to being blank and instantly finished her first drink.
