#VVApartment – February 11, 2018
It's close to midnight by the time Va'ynna returns, which is about an hour past the estimate she gave in the call. It's nothing out of the ordinary, however. It was Uvena that walked her home from work, but they parted ways outside.
Va'ynna is too quiet to be heard walking through the hallway outside, so the first sign Victoria will notice of her returning is the door's orange hologram turning green before the door slides open. Va'ynna enters with brisk steps, and immediately move to take off and hang up her jacket.
Victoria is simply sitting at the dinner table. She remained awake due to her drinking and waiting for Va'ynna. The bottle of whiskey she was drinking is no longer full, but it is at the halfway mark. She watches door's hologram, but she still has a blank expression on her face and turns her attention back to her glass.
Va'ynna hurries over to the dinner table, and croushes down beside Victoria. The half-empty bottle of whiskey causes a deep frown to cross her expression. Getting home has given the tired asari a second wind of energy, but her movements are still sluggish and her reactions slower than normal. "Victoria, you.... I... I told you I'll be home to talk with you," she says. "I'm so sorry I took so long."
Victoria turns her attention back to Va'ynna. "It is all good sweetie." Her eyes are still a little red, she looks at the bottle then Va'ynna. "Don't worry, I have been taking it slowly. So I am only a little bit tipsy, if anything."
Va'ynna tilts her head, looking more than a little skeptical. "You... don't look well," she says. She stands back up and grabs her arm, trying to gently pull her to her feet for a hug. "You... mentioned your family, has... has something happened?"
Victoria allows Va'yanna to pull her up to her feet. She remains silent and hugs Va'ynna tightly. "I will just show you, probably a lot easier that way." She let go of her hold on Va'ynna and waits for her to do the same. She then activates her omni-tool finding the video she needs. "So my parents have passed away a while ago, but this was hidden in my father's will." She plays the video that was hidden in her father's
Va'ynna does eventually let go of her, but still has an arm over her shoulder. She considers walking over to the couch to sit down, but the video starting causes her to let go of that plan. She has a bit of trouble focusing on the video in the beginning, but hearing the start of his explanation causes her to focus intently. A tear rolls down her cheeks as the words of it hit very close to home even if it wasn't
directed at her. She's quiet for a few seconds when the video playback comes to a stop, as she struggles to compose herself. Tears are starting to form below her eyes. "He... he gave up because he didn't think he could raise you, that... you deserved better," she murmurs. She turns towards her and wraps her up in a tight hug. "I'm... I'm so sorry, Victoria."
Victoria closes her omni-tool once the video is finished, and allows Va'ynna to hug her, tears start forming in her eyes from the combination of watching the video again and the hug. "I felt... abandoned. And that was the first time... not the last time." Her breath begins to quiver a little bit, before she speaks again. "I don't... want to... feel that way again."
Va'ynna does not intend to let go of the hug anytime soon, and she starts rubbing her back. She was incredibly worried that she could not give back in equal measure, as Va'ynna has been very reliant on her and others to deal with her own emotional pain. "You won't," she murmurs, but her voice is unclear and uneven as she has completely lost her composure. "We... we have each other. I... I understand how... how...
Victoria remains silent for the time being, trying to recover her composure. Vicky could see that Va'ynna might have the same experience as herself, with how she reacted. She holds Va'ynna tightly as well. "If you don't want to talk about it... then don't." She realised that standing like this in the quiet could make them both feel much better.
Va'ynna is still holding her tightly, but her hands have stopped moving. "It's... it... it doesn't compare to what... what you went through," she murmurs. It's not the first time they've talked about this, but it was different to finally hear the other side of this story. Victoria's father never tried to make amends before it was too late for them to talk this through, but Va'ynna was afforded that chance. So there
Victoria remains mostly silent, trying not to let out her emotion and overtake her. She places her head in between Va'ynna's neck and shoulder, she just wants to remain quiet for the time being. She did not know what to say for the time being, or how she wanted to say it.
Va'ynna does not say anything either, the only sounds leaving her being her trembling breath. She was tired and exhausted after another long day of work, but right now she felt she could stand here for hours; however long Victoria needed her.
Victoria realised that standing here might not be the best for Va'ynna, since of her long day of work. "Why don't we go to bed? Sleep is probably the best thing for us." She knows sleep would be best for both of them.
Va'ynna gives an unsure hum. "Maybe... we should," she whispers. "It's been a long day." She is still reluctant to actually let go of Victoria, but her embrace is loosening.
Victoria moves to the side of Va'ynna, once Va'ynna's embrace loosens. She then scoops up Va'ynna, knowing that she can carry her to their room, Vicky makes her way to their room.
Va'ynna gives a surprised gasp as she's scooped up, looking confused for a moment. The tears have stopped rolling down her cheeks, but there's still signs of them. "I... can walk on my own," she says in a low voice, but a a brief smile does show up; though it's far from undoing the subdued mood of their conversation.
Victoria looks Va'ynna and smile. "I thought this might be faster for you." She tries to lighten the mood, but she knows that this whole situation could not really be lighten at the moment. Once she gets to their bedroom, she places Va'ynna on the edge of the bed.
Va'ynna sighs. "It's... okay," she whispers. She doesn't waste any time getting into bed, only removing her pants and socks before crawling under the blanket. She was not in the mood to bother changing into proper nightwear.
Victoria takes her shirt and pants off, not wanting to sleep in those clothing and not caring about nightwear, before making her way to her side of the bed. She climbs into bed and latches onto Va'ynna. "I love you, Va'ynna."
Va'ynna moves her pillow closer to Victoria's while she gets into bed, since she would do the same hadn't Victoria taken the initiative and hugged her. "I love you too," she repeats in a whisper. It feels wrong to put her hands on bare skin right now, but she hides her discomfort. "You... should talk to your sister about this tomorrow if... if you haven't already," she says. The asari places a quick kiss on her
forehead and closes her eyes, but she does not drift off to sleep immediately like usual after a long tiring day at work.
Victoria just nods at Va'ynna's suggestion, it could either be a good or bad decision to tell her sister. She closes her eyes, the drama of today has left her a bit more tired than normal.
