#VVApartment – March 4, 2018
Victoria woke up the morning after discovering the news and telling Va'ynna about it. Slowly opening her eyes, she untangled herself from Va'ynna and slowly sat up.
Va'ynna wakes up by the untangling, and upon realizing that she wasn't woken up by the alarm, she raises her brows. Did she oversleep? She rolled over and grabbed her omni-tool, and breathed a sigh of both disappointment and relief. The alarm was in 20 minutes, 20 minutes of sleep she could have used. She didn't disable it, instead just laying her head back on the pillow. That Victoria had woken up hasn't quite
Victoria watches Va'ynna move about, seeing if the alarm went off or not. It brings a smirk to her face. Once Va'ynna just rest her head back on the pillow, Vicky leans over and kisses her on the forehead. "Morning."
Va'ynna gives a weak even hum at the kiss, still resting her head on the pillow. It wasn't a good morning, ahead of her is another long day at the Miner's Respite, for which 4 hours of sleep was not going to be enough. Not even a kiss or a hug could make up for that. "Morning," she mumbles back. "Slept well?"
Victoria gives a shrug. "I mean, I slept alright. Got a little bit of a headache, but that will go away." She looked at Va'ynna and studied her for a moment. "Let me guess, you did not sleep well?" She lays back down and gives the asari a hug. "Sorry for waking you."
Va'ynna sighs. "It's… fine, I… was going to wake up soon anyway," she murmurs groggily. "No… matter the quality, I'm not… getting enough of it." She wraps her arms around Victoria in turn and holds her tight. Maybe it doesn't make up for it, but at least it's in the right direction. "You shouldn't drink so much," she says without any emotion in her tired voice.
Victoria kisses Va'ynna's neck. "I was on good behaviour with my drinking." She joked, she pauses for a couple of moments and then shifted her tone to something more serious. "Hey sweetie. The talk we had last night..." She pauses again, trying to choice her words carefully. "I'm sorry if it is the wrong time to talk about it. But it felt like me, you felt abandoned as well." She tries to be kind and not push her buttons.
Va'ynna frowns. That definitely doesn't help her any. It wasn't long ago where the mention of her mother alone would have been enough to bring down even the greatest days. She looks thoughtful for a moment as she thinks about how to say it. "I… you could say that," she said. "I… I-I was a difficult child. I was near failing my education, and… and-and I had no real friends," she draws a shaking breath, as tears
Victoria leans over Va'ynna and moves a hand to her cheek. "If you don't want to talk about it, then don't sweetie. If you are not comfortable about talking about it now, I am here for you. Okay?" She wanted to comfort the asari, make sure she is not doing something she does not want to do.
Va'ynna sighs. "I'm… I'm the one telling you to come to me instead of… of… a bottle," she murmurs sadly, awake enough to realize the hypocrisy in refusing to talk about her own past. "I don't…, the worst part is that Uvena wasn't entirely wrong, the intentions weren't," she says. "I… I got the help I needed, but… but it was… it wasn't how a child should be raised." She takes another deep breath, but it
doesn't help. "It's… normal for maidens to be… to be aimless, but I… I," she pauses for a moment, closing her eyes, "I didn't want to leave everything behind and travel to… some exciting, dangerous place."
Victoria just held onto Va'ynna, trying to give her comfort. "It is okay to stay away from exciting and dangerous places. Most poeple want to stay away from that stuff." Vicky did not really know what to say, she had little choice with her life and current career.
Va'ynna shifts closer and buries her head just below Victoria's neck. "But… I, I had no future," she says. "When Uvena, she…, she signed away custody of me, I… I-I thought I would never see her again. I was… so hurt, betrayed, and…, angry. She wasn't perfect, but… she was my mother."
Victoria ' eyes go wide, she understood how Va'ynna felt here. She held Va'ynna closer to her, she could understand why any child would hate their parent for that. "I'm sorry." She choked out.
Va'ynna draws a few more deep breaths, to no avail as tears keep rolling, soaking Victoria's upper torso. "Wh-when I went to buy a-a... birthday present for you, I… I told her that… that it… I don't-don't see her as my mother anymore," she murmurs, barely coherent enough for Victoria to understand. "She… she looked… taken aback, and… I… I couldn't think about anything else while we were… at the market.
Victoria is truly shock by that, truly surprised by what she heard. "Va'ynna, I lost both of my parents. You still have your mother." She did not want Va'ynna to go down her path, Vicky no longer had her parents and that left so many wounds opened. "Please, try to reconnect with her. If you don't, you will have a piece missing from you forever."
Va'ynna sighs. What Victoria said makes sense, but it won't serve to undo the hurt of the betrayal. "It's… it's not… not that easy," she mutters. "She… she left me when I needed her most, and it's been… forty seven years." She takes another deep breath. "I… cannot forgive that, it's… it wouldn't feel right to."
Victoria just looks at Va'ynna. "You don't need to forgive what happened. But you can still work something out." She knew Va'ynna still has a chance at fixing things with her mother, something that Victoria will never get. "You can still do something, that I no longer have a chance to do."
Va'ynna is quiet for a few moments, not doing much more than crying into Victoria's chest. Uvena has been nothing but kind to Va'ynna since her return, and she gets up early in the morning to take her to work and stays up late to take her home. No matter what though, Va'ynna couldn't just shake off the bitter feelings of betrayal that her mother serves as a reminder of. "I… I don't… I don't want to be set up for
another betrayal," she mumbles, barely coherently, "because... because that keeps happening. It's… it's… it's why…." She trails off as the sobbing overcomes her and she's unable to talk.
Victoria allows Va'ynna to vent and get whatever she wants off her chest. "Sweetie, if it leads to another betrayal. I will be here for you. It won't be the same as before." She tries her best the comfort her.
Va'ynna is again quiet for a few moments as she tried to gather herself. "I… wanted to believe that… that it wouldn't happen again when…," she trails off and gives a slight shake of her head. "And I want to believe that with… with D'Inea, Jason, you…, because if I don't, then… then… then I don't know what to do. I have to."
Victoria kisses Va'ynna's head. "Whatever you chose to do, I will be here for you. I love you, Va'ynna, and I won't leave you." She figured that this would be the best bet to comfort Va'ynna.
Va'ynna holds onto her even tighter when she's kissed, but after another moment of silence she pulls back a bit, looking up to Victoria with teary eyes. "After…, after the kidnapping, when T'Iavay… removed her thing from my omni-tool, she… asked me about something else on it," she says, still keeping her voice low but it's a bit more composed. "And… since then, I've… I've found out that I'm here because of a
Victoria looks at Va'ynna with a puzzled face, trying to understand what lie could bring the asari out here. "And what lie, brought you out here?" Vicky wanted to know what happened and it help her try to understand the situation better.
Va'ynna looks down again for a moment, feeling both sad and ashamed. "I… I was told I was in danger," she says, "by the… the woman that took me in at age fifty-two, so I… I trusted her." She shifts closer and returns to bury her face in Victoria's chest again. "We… would keep in touch, and she… was always eager to hear about… everything. How work was going, the… people I met, what I'm doing."
Victoria lets Va'ynna hold onto her. "That does not makes sense. Why would she say you are in danger?" She was trying to understand why the woman who took her in lied about Va'ynna being in danger.
Va'ynna sighs. "She… wanted me here, but… I-I don't know why," she says, her voice still low and difficult to comprehend. "I won't know, becuase I… I told T'Iavay to… to remove it. I… I didn't, I didn't want to talk to her again." She closes her eyes and holds on a little bit tighter. "I… I-I can't-can't forgive that," she sobs, "because each time it-it turns my life on its head."
Victoria allowed Va'ynna to sob, she knew that allowing Va'ynna to let it all out would be for the best. "It is okay to let it all out, Va'ynna. Just remember, if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, I am here."
Va'ynna gives a faint nod, which is more felt than seen. She takes her offer and doesn't say anything to her as she tries to calm herself down.
Victoria remains silent as she continues to let Va'ynna calm down, it was the best possible action at this time.
Va'ynna doesn't quite manage to calm down before her omni-tool starts beeping, reminding her that the day has just started. The alarm was set precisely, and the few hours she had for sleep didn't allow her morning routines to be any longer than absolutely neccesary. With a weary sigh, she pulls back from Victoria, rolls over and reaches out to silence it. "I… need a shower," she mutters.
Victoria wished the alarm went off later, that it did not interrupt them. After Va'ynna rolls over, Vicky sits up and gives a nod. "Yeah, I might need a quick shower as well."
Va'ynna moves to the edge of the bed and stands up, and she walks out of the room without another word.
