#VVApartment – July 6, 2019

Victoria sent a message to Va'ynna just before the dinner rush would have began. "Sorry, Vay. Won't be able to pick you up tonight. Will see you at home." If any reply was sent back, Vicky would not have responded. Victoria sat on the couch in her typical winter clothing, a half bottle of rum and a glass that was half filled with rum sat in front of her. She just sat there staring at her

glass, sitting in the room with nothing but her thoughts to accompany her.

Va'ynna is half an hour early when she enters the apartment, immediately closing the door behind her. Without taking off her shoes or jacket, she walks through to the living room looking around for Victoria. Seeing her on the couch with a bottle in hand, she sighs. "What happened?" The exhaustion in her voice and breathing implies that she's been rushing to get home.

Victoria is just about to take another drink as Va'ynna enters their home. She sets her drink down, without taking a drink and turns her attention to the asari. "Hey, sorry 'bout that Vay." Her voice giving away that she has been drinking for quite sometime now. Vicky threw her arms out wide and did a slight turn from side to side. "All of this, you. I don't deserve a single good thing

in my life." She puts her arms down. "But here it all is."

Va'ynna walks past to swipe the bottle from the table and walks over to place it on the kitchen counter with another deep sigh. "Victoria, we... we have talked about this," she says, still looking away at the bottle. "And you're wrong. You don't... you shouldn't be so hard on yourself."

Victoria remains seated as Va'ynna swipes the bottle, Vicky was not gonna stop her from taking the bottle away. "Look at my life before I met you, it all equals me being a piece of shit and a monster." Vicky just stares blankly forward. "Raised to be a thief by parents who were able to raise a doctor and abandoned me. Taken in by a pirate, who made me a killer." She stops for a moment

and tilts her head back with her eyes closed. "Still a killer, but I get paid to be a killer and less of a monster."

Va'ynna walks back over to the couch to take a seat beside Victoria, putting her hands in her lap. The asari appears very tense, whether it's the weight of conversaion of Victoria's inebriation is not clear. She still has her jacket and shoes on, and has left wet, slightly muddy footprints in her wake. "I... don't know all you've done in the past, and... maybe it's best it remains so," she begins before looking up

at her, "but... what you've built here, what you've done for me... you worked for that. Too much work... if you ask me, but.. you... you worked for it."

Victoria remains silent, listening to Va'ynna and remained silent for a while processing her words. "You're one of the few good things I have." She turns her head to face Va'ynna and there were tears in her eyes. "You're the one thing that makes me want to be good. But, when you were kidnapped. I could not think straight. Then when I found you, I wanted to..." She stops, to think about

her next words. "I almost killed a prisoner, because of what they did to you. But, Jason talked some sense into me, and I did not want you to look at me like a monster."

Va'ynna looks ahead and down when the kidnapping is mentioned, closing her eyes. "It was horrible," she says, her voice quite distant and quiet. "I didn't know what was next, if I was going to freeze to death because they were afraid I had... some tracking devices in my clothes I think. I didn't... know when you'll come... and... if you'll find me." She takes a deep, trembling breath as tears forms under her eyes.

"I don't think I would have... cared what happened to my captors, I certainly didn't ask or listen, I... I... I only wanted to be back in your arms where... I'm safe,"

Victoria wrapped her arms around Va'ynna and held her close. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring that up." Vicky buried her face into nook of Va'ynna's neck. "I'm shit at this, I realise that. You are my only serious relationship, you're the person I care the most about."

Va'ynna is still tense, but she does lean her head into the side hug. Her eyes also remain closed. "When I... look at you, I don't see a monster," she says. "I see someone that would forgo sleep, and... fight an unwinnable fight just to... see me safe. I... sometimes don't know what I... I'm giving in return, but... without you, I would still toss and turn every night and... I'd be afraid at any sound from outside

my door. A... true monster wouldn't make me feel so... safe."

Victoria continues to hug Va'ynna. "Thank you. I'm sorry, that I was drinking but when I get into these moods, I drink. Can't help it." She remains silent while holding onto Va'ynna, not saying a word content to remain quiet for a time.

Va'ynna sighs, and finally opens her eyes. "You... could have come to the Respite," she says. "I'm... I'm sure D'Inea would give me a little break to talk." She leans her head back a little to look at her in the corner of her eye. "And... if you need to drink, why not... do it with someone else?" she asks. "I don't drink, of course, but... I'm sure you have friends."

Victoria gives a shrug. "There are just sometimes I like to think it out myself." Vicky tries to make the hug as comfortable for both herself and Va'ynna. "I just like having some moments to myself. Organising shipments for my ship, seeing my sister again. Everything just has me a little stressed out, so sometime to myself away might be good." Vicky gives a quick scuff. "Seems to have

turned out well." She joked about the situation.

Va'ynna looks over at the bottle on the countertop. "I... can't see how alcohol helps with that," she says. "And... please... do let me know the next time. I was... worried something bad had happened and... and... I hurried home as fast as I could."

Victoria remains silent for quite sometime not answering Va'ynna about how the alcohol helps. "I am sorry, my Goddess." It takes Vicky a quick moment to realise what she just said. "Did not mean to call you that, but guess I will keep it for when we are home."

Va'ynna blushes. "How about... never saying that again?" she suggests. "I... do not have any divine power at my control." She sighs and gently breaks the hug to get up. She may have been abusing the active heating, which is making her too warm now that she's inside. A great problem to have at this time of year, though.

Victoria lies down once the hug has been broken. "You have divine control of my heart." Vicky's flirting seems to be intact despite her drinking. "Makes sense to me. You are my Goddess, making my wicked heart turn to a good one." A smile on her face and looking up to Va'ynna. Vicky's mood seems to be slowly going back to how she normally acts, talking with Va'ynna has seem to lift her

mood.

Va'ynna gives a small sigh as Victoria doubles down on that. "You're... just... stop," she murmurs, probably not loud enough to be heard unless Victoria focuses on listening. She hangs up her jacket and takes off her shoes before turning back to the kitchen, and taking a washcloth off the sink. "I'm going to bed," she says. "Just... give me a moment to clean up the mess I made."
