#RedrockAgency – January 25, 2014

The Redrock team is briefed on Rellis' mission a few days before they're shipped out.

The location has underwent numerous changes since the recruits seen it last. The fence has mostly been mended, and a fresh coat of paint has given the building a much livelier look than before. A large sign displaying the Redrock Agency insignia with the agencies name emblazoned below it hangs above the open front door. The perimeter is devoid of anyone moving about.

Renala arrives outside the compound by means of walking there. She's wearing her brown leather jacket over a blue top, and dark-gray pants. There are, however, no weapons on her person.

Zaylus comes up upon the perimeter of the compound, having too gotten there on foot. He makes no deviation in his attire and comes dressed in his classic armor. As he notes the renovations since his last visit, the turian stops just short of the the asari, glancing at her with an unidentified expression.

Kim becomes visible shortly after, walking towards the building with a fairly passive expression on her face. She stops when she reaches the two already there and looks around the building. She looks somewhat surprised at how changed the place is already.

Victoria arrives to the outside of the compound, she strolled up wearing a white t-shirt and long black pants. She notices there is an asari and turian already there, she kept a rather plain expression on her face.

Renala smiles at the others. "Hello, 'Grumpy'," she says with a playful smirk, "and Victoria. And... Kim?" She remains there for a few seconds before starting towards the entrance.

Zaylus looks to both sides, unwilling to accept he's the target of this strange pet name. "I'm not grumpy." He grumbles quietly, doing more to confirm this unwanted nickname. He gives the others only a brief glance before following Renala toward the doors.

Kim nods at the asari in affirmation, but does not say anything right away. She gives the other human a cursory glance before shrugging and following the two into the building.

Victoria nods at the asari and glances at the human and nods at her, then follows the others into the building.

Jason is seated at the receptionist's desk once again with his boots propped up on top of it. As usual, he's wearing his blue and white hardsuit and taking a drink from a glass filled with a liquid that appears suspiciously alcoholic in nature. As soon as he catches glimpse of the recruits stepping through the door, he quickly sits up and tries to, unsuccessfully, push the glass out of view. "There you are." he says, a lopsided smirk coming to his face, "'Bout time. Let's get started." he continues as he steps through the door behind the desk.

Renala | "Uh-huh," she says disbelievingly, smirk not fading from her lips, but she follows after Jason without another word.

Zaylus frowns, making a vague grunting noise as he too continues further into the compound.

Kim gives Jason a questioning look after seeing him try to move his drink out of her view. With a small sigh, she moves towards the door and slips in after the non-humans.

Victoria just follows the group being the last person. Since the people at the back are cool.

Jason continues into the next room, which is basically unchanged since their last visit. "Have a seat." he says, gesturing towards the two rows of desks as he continues to the front of the room. "Sorry to call you all in on such short notice, but that's just the way things work sometimes." he adds and leans against the wall at the head of the room, beside the large screen.

Renala offers a smile. "Nothing to worry about, Wolfe," she says before taking a seat at the middle-most desk on the front row.

Zaylus keeps all snide comments to himself, quietly taking one of the back-corner seats.

Kim moves up towards one of the frontmost seats and slips in before folding her arms. "We're employees now, right? Not like we couldn't have expected this."

Victoria takes the other back corner seat and waits for the talk to progress more before adding anything.

Jason nods a few times and waits for everyone to get settled in before continuing. "Alright ladies." he says once everyone seems to be attentive, specifically looking towards Zaylus with a grin as he speaks, "A big job came in this past week that's going to require a lot of attention. I would've liked to start you all off with something small. Maybe get a few security shifts under your belt, show you how things work around here and give you all an opportunity to work together. Get a feel for one another." he continues, pacing back and forth at the front of the room as he speaks, "Unfortunately, we haven't had enough time for all that. What does that mean? It means this is going to be trial by fire. But you're all professionals with resumes that speak for themselves, so I'm counting on everyone to act as such. So for starters, are you all ready and on standby? No pressing immediate health concerns that might keep you out of this?"

Zaylus rests his chin in his palm, listening with an odd mixture of a scowl and a grin during Jason's speech. When he's finished, the turian rasies his other hand hight and speaks without waiting to be recognized. "Yeah, I got one. My head-out-of-ass procedure you keep reommending is coming up. Sorry, boss." He says with a grin and a 'what can ya do?' kind of shrug.

Renala chuckles at the turian's comment, looking a little inquisitive in her expression as it seems the two know already. "I'm as ready as I can be," she says. "What sort of job are we doing?"

Jason 's grin remains as he extends his middle finger and shoots it in Zaylus' direction. "We both know that thing is jammed far too deep in there for anyone to dig it out." he says. He puts up his index finger, indicating to Renala that he'll get to that in a moment, and focuses his gaze on Victoria, "This is an all-hands-on-deck situation, Vicky. Your application said you have combat

experience, as well as experience with quite a few different weapons. I know I signed you on as a pilot, but I'm going to need you on the ground for this one. Is that a problem?"

Victoria shrugs ''If you count not having a hard suit a problem. That is my only problem about being signed up for the ground fighting.'' She pauses for a second ''Unless the company buys me one and takes it out of my first pay to give me a new one.''

Jason nods and returns to his position beside the screen. "That won't be a problem. We'll front you the payment for this job. You're going to need a hardsuit anyways for future jobs." he says, "But this can't be a regular thing. We just don't have the funds for it to be, we clear?"

Victoria nods ''Understood, this should be the only time. I got my weapons, but did not have my hardsuit. Should be the only time this happens.''

Kim glances back at Victoria with a raised eyebrow, but doesn't say anything right away. She stares for several seconds before turning back around.

Jason doesn't comment any further on the subject, instead simply tapping at a button on the screen which causes it to light up with the Redrock Agency logo. "The contract is for the elimination of a specific target. This..." he points towards the screen, "Is where the layout of our target's area would be if we had it. But we don't." He approaches the front desk closest to him and takes a seat, facing the others. "So here's what we do know. Our target is a turian. Extensive military experience. He's the head of his own security firm, and known to be running a smuggling ring. So basically an all around pain in the ass. Also, he's apparently pretty good with a long-rifle, but if we handle that right this shouldn't even come into play. Worth keeping in mind in case the shit hits the fan, though."

Jason continues his speech, gesturing with his hands as he does, "The location is a ghost town about a half hour from our current location. I'm told two buildings are all that's left standing of the town, the rest is completely ruins. That means collateral damage shouldn't be much of an issue." he says, glancing over everyone, "If, by some chance, collateral damage becomes an issue... I'm going to say this right now. It will not be tolerated unless absolutely unavoidable." he continues, stressing each word in that last sentence and making sure to hold eye contact with each person for a moment as he speaks it, "That goes for every job. You represent this company, and any blood on your hands is on all of ours. Is that clear?"

Victoria nods understanding the statement.

Zaylus nods, a wide grin on his face. He seems excited about this news.

Kim nods silently, confident that if there were any issues that would compromise the company, it wouldn't be her fault anyway.

Renala takes a moment to consider all this, then nods. "Clear as day," she says. "I take it the turian isn't alone, then?"

Jason 's smile returns as he gives a satisfied nod. "Now that we've got that out of the way..." he continues before addressing Renala, "Not a chance. But the ruins around his location should afford us a solid approach. His warehouse offers two entrances, one being a garage. This is where you come in, Renala." he says, gesturing towards the asari, "We don't have many details on their security, or the building's layout, but if we can approach and gain entrance silently, things would go a lot smoother."

Renala nods. "I've done my best to stay on top of developments within security," she says, sounding more confident than she actually is, "so if it's standard stuff, that shouldn't be a problem at all."

Jason nods in turn, "Good... Unfortunately that's the extent of our information on the layout. All the windows are boarded up, so keeping track of potential hostiles will be difficult. But as long as we stay alert and report anything we see or hear, it should be managable. The estimate on the local security sits at around twenty employees coming and going, with about half on duty at any given time. It's a rough estimate, which means we assume all twenty are on site unless given absolute confirmation otherwise." he stands from the desk and looks around the room, "Any questions?"

Kim raises an arm. "Do we know anything about the turian's habits or similar?"

Jason shakes his head. "Unfortunately we don't. Our employer seems to be playing this one close to his chest, so our information seems to be on a need-to-know basis. And this seems to be all he believes we 'need-to-know'." he says with a shrug, "It's not ideal. But these jobs rarely are."

Kim raises an eyebrow at the response, but soon enough simply nods acknowledgment. She leans back in her chair and folds her arms over her chest as she waits to see if anyone else will speak up.

Zaylus notices the gap in questions and rasies his hand, "Who else is on this job?" He asks.

Victoria nods understandingly.

Renala nods her acknowledgment, but waits for Jason to answer Grumpy's quiestion before asking her own.

Jason turns his gaze to Zaylus. "Just the people in this room. Myself included. Unfortunately we still have other contracts to maintain. The others are going to be handling the security shifts while we're taking care of this. I know we're a little short-handed at the moment, but we're doing our best to fix that. Finding good help takes time, though. So for now, we're just going to have to deal with it."

Zaylus nods, leaning back in his seat to let the others continue to speak.

Jason puts up a hand to correct himself, "Our contact on this job will also be joining us. He'll be piloting the shuttle for the drop, and extraction."

Renala nods, and raises a hand to signal her intention to speak. "Any idea how much notice we'll get before it starts?"

Jason shakes his head once again and walks towards the coffee maker.. "From the sound of things, they're keeping the place under surveillance." he says as he fills a small disposable cup with coffee, "So we'll be called on short notice when they feel the circumstances give us the best possible chance at success." he glances back over his shoulder at the others, "That means stay glued to your omni-tool."

Renala | "Fair enough," she replies. "I've got my gear ready. I think my armor's shields could use some more juice, but I'm sure that can wait."

Kim nods and raises her omni-tool arm for emphasis. Otherwise, she doesn't say anything for the moment, but remains fairly attentive on Jason.

Victoria simply says ''Understood boss.''

Jason takes a sip of the coffee and makes a face as if he just licked a krogan's ass. He promptly tosses the nearly-full cup into a garbage can and licks at his lips a few times, attempting to expunge the taste from his tongue. "Alright." he says, "Then all that we have left to discuss is the reason you assholes are here: Credits. I'd like to keep this as transparent as possible. If we're all going to trust one another, it's the least I can do. Our employer is offering forty-thousand credits per person that Redrock Agency provides. Of that forty-thousand, you'll see eighty percent. That comes to..." he pauses and looks up towards the ceiling. He speaks to himself for a moment under his breath. Finally, he lifts up his forearm and the orange glow of his omni-tool can be seen. After a short period of silence and a handful of button presses, the omni-tool dissipates and Jason clears his throat. "That comes to thirty-two thousand credits each. Fifteen percent goes to the agency, and five percent goes to the others who won't be joining us on this job. Before any of you roll your eyes, do a little research and you'll find that it's a pretty generous deal. Consider it an investment in the company. It will go towards better equipment..." he begins holding up fingers as he lists things off, "...Repairs. Future medical bills. And a whole slew of expenses that need to be paid to keep this operation running."

''Sounds fair to me.''

Renala can't help but smile. "You won't see me complaining about thirty-two in a day," she says. "Didn't earn even close to that in my old job back home."

Zaylus appears content with this, but remains quiet.

Kim nods and gives a small smile.

Jason claps his hands together and gives a slight shrug. "Then... Ugh..." he nods a few times to himself, "Yeah... If there's no more questions, then that about covers it. You're free to take off. Go home, relax. Make sure you're all rested up, and wait for my message."

Renala remains in her seat for the time being, on the off chance there are questions from the others.

Victoria has no questions but remains just in case someone else had a question

Zaylus gets up out of his seat when it seems there are no more questions, and lingers there for a few moments before casually begining to make his way back out.

Kim glances around at the others, but stays in her seat for the moment.

Jason swings his arms back and forth casually as he glances between the others. "Or you could all sit there and make asses of yourselves. That works too. However you want to handle it." he shrugs and makes his way back over to the coffee machine.

Victoria stood up ''Well I waited to see if anyone else had questions. 'But turns out no one does.''

Renala stands up, chuckling. "Works for me," she says. "I'll see you soon, Wolfe."

Zaylus chuckles to himself as he makes his way out, muttering something under his breath.

Jason proceeds to dump the contents of the coffee pot into the garbage can, "Keep your omni-tools nearby!" he repeats, "If you come up with any questions, you know where to find me."

Victoria nods, then leaves

Kim stands up and stretches for a moment, then folds her arms over her chest once more. "Say... is the coffee really that bad?"

Jason turns slowly and peers at Kim. With eyebrows raised, he nods. "It tastes like... Like..." he pauses and thinks on it before eventually just giving up and shrugging, "It tastes like ass, Kim. There's no other way to describe it. It tastes like ass."

Renala chuckles. "Isn't it supposed to?" she asks, jokingly. "I thought people just chugged it down for its effects."

Jason glances towards Renala and shakes his head. "I've tasted plenty of coffee. But this... This is something else." he says, giving the pot a disgusted look. "When Linda-..." he nods towards the wall, indicating someone in the other room, "...makes a pot of coffee. It tastes like coffee. I've made three pots today. All of them? Ass." He sighs and shakes his head.

Kim smirks as she leans forwards slightly. "I figured. That must be why you were drinking... something else, earlier."

Renala follows his gesture with her eyes. "Can't you just ask her to teach you how it's done, then?"

Jason quickly cuts Kim off, "Water... Why I was drinking water earlier, yeah." he says, raising his voice a little as if someone else may be able to hear him. He gives a quick glance towards the door to the next room before answering Renala. "You don't know her." he says, lowering his voice to just above a whisper, "She'd never leave me alone about it."

Kim immediately understands what's going on and grins even more widely. "Ah, of course, 'water'. Well, if you're going to be drinking 'water', spread it around a bit sometime, alright?" She turns and begins heading for the door, but stops before too long and turns back around with a thoughtful face. "You know... I might bring some 'water' of my own next time..."

Jason raises an eyebrow. "Just... Keep your 'water' to yourself, alright? Can't have everyone..." he glances at the door once more, "...Running around drinking water..."

Renala smirks. "Neglecting hydration? That's a bad idea," she says. "Well, I suppose I should get going. I'll see you around, Wolfe. Probably working my ass off getting my code up to snuff, but I'm at staying the Respite if you find yourself there one day before the job kicks off."

Jason smirks and gives the asari a nod. "Will do. Take care of yourself, Renala. And try not to go too heavy on the 'water'. Can't have you showing up for work hungover." he jokes.

Kim winks and turns back around, then slips out of the room and then the building.

Renala chuckles. "We'll see, boss," she says with a shrug, obviously not serious. "Can't promise anything."

Jason removes a new filter from beneath the counter that the coffee maker is on. He begins filling it with coffee. Far more than should be used. "There's only enough room for one of us to be drunk all the time, Renala... And that spots already taken." he jokes and proceeds to push the coffee grounds down with his hand and pour more in, topping it off.

Renala | "Guess you'll have to cosider it contested then," she say as she begins walking towards the door out of the room. With a glance over her shoulders, she adds, "Take care."

Jason puts an arm up, waving Renala off, but quickly returns his attention to his coffee experiment.

Renala makes her way through the reception, leaving the building.
