Va'ynna is standing behind the bar, at work. It's slightly busier than usual, but not enough to keep her occupied too often. She's in a red dress, one she's quite often seen in.
#Miner'sRespite – February 5, 2014
There is an attempt at Va'ynna's life by an asari named Siveya. Rellis is also involved.
Renala is sitting in a booth near the bar, a mostly full glass of beer on the table before her. A plate with only crumbs left is there, too, but it's slightly pushed aside. She's reading something on her omni-tool. Renala is dressed in dark-blue top that shows some skin below her neck and most of her arms.
Zaylus arrives at the Respite, the brisk pace he was at now slowing to a relaxed stroll. He seems fairly uninterested in the goings on of the establishment, and appears to be headed upstairs until something catches his eye. Giving the asari a double-take as he passes, he spots Renala. For a moment he hesitates, but eventually goes to approach her. "That's funny," He begins, standing near her table. "I almost didn't recognize you without the singularity." He grins good-naturedly, also turning and giving the working asari at the bar a wave.
Renala looks up at the turian, but can't help but smirk. "Sure was the ride of a lifetime that one," she says. "You should try it some time." She gestures towards the seat opposite her, wordlessly. "So, how's it going?"
Va'ynna notices the turian's approach while serving another patron, and offers a smile, which fades once she notices him making his way over to a booth. She did return the wave, though.
Zaylus gives an indecicive glance toward the bar, but does take the offered seat. "Oh, you know. The same old things." He answers, settling in. "Maybe a little less sniper fire than usual, but I can live with that." He adds with a grin. "So what do you think, first mission not quite what you expected? Too be honest, I wasn't sure if you'd float back around to our side."
Renala considers it for a moment while sipping her beer. "I'm not sure what to think of it," she says. "Contract fulfilled, and no casualties on our side, but what if they find out where we live?"
Zaylus frowns slightly, "I've thought about it. It seems pretty unlikely, of course. Is that what you're worried about?" He asks, waving a hand dismissively. "Come on, don't worry so much. I mean, yeah, you probably didn't become lifelong friends with that other asari, but she'd have to put in a whole lot of effort to find us now."
Renala frowns. "I wouldn't be too unhappy about a chance for payback," she says. "She did kick my ass on that job; twice. I'm more worried if they sent their entire force on us here. Not today, not tomorrow, but maybe months or years from now."
Jason enters the Respite and heads towards the bar, only stopping when Zaylus and Renala catch his eye. "Evening, ladies." he says, "Mind if I join you?" he asks, but tosses his datapad down on the table without waiting for any sort of approval as he slides in beside Zaylus, nudging him further into the booth.
Va'ynna waves at Jason when she sees him by the booth, but looks a tiny bit dissapointed. She continues on with her work after a few seconds, walking over to serve another patron signaling for her.
Zaylus grunts as he's nudged aside, scooting over to give the new arrival some space. "I supppose it doesn't matter if we do, hmm?" He says, settling back in. "We were just chatting about our lovely new friends and how they may some day return to kill us." He says with a contrasting smile.
Jason raises an arm and leans out of the booth slightly before cupping his hands around his mouth and shouting across the bar to Va'ynna, "Don't think you went unnoticed, V! Rum and coke! I'll be over to pick it up in a minute!" he orders obnoxiously. "Hmmm?" he asks, glancing towards Zaylus, "What now?"
Renala chuckles as glances towards the bar while the human shouts. "Well, that's one way to order a drink," she says. "Maybe some bartender on the other side of town heard that, too." A smirk follows.
Zaylus winces as Jason begins to shout, "Classy stuff, human." He grumbles, tapping his talons against the table. "Is that why you've come, then? To shout at bartenders?"
Va'ynna looks towards Jason after serving the patron, and nods, seeming both amused and embarrased. She taps away at a datapad beneath the counter before walking off to find the bottles in the racks along the back wall.
Jason gives a shrug, "Nothing wrong with coming to unwind with a refreshing drink after a stressful day." he says, "Now what's this about people coming to kill us?" he asks non-chalantly.
Renala | "I've no doubt our friends over there will make a fuss if they found any of us here," she says before sipping her drink. "Doesn't sound likely, but well, it's a possibility."
Jason raises an eyebrow, "Our... Friends?" he puts his hands up, "Wait, wait, wait. Back up... What are we talking about? I feel like I missed something."
Zaylus gives the asari a 'this guy' kind of look, going to rest his chin in his palm. "Yeah, our friends." He says sarcastically. "I really feel like we bonded with them. I even invited them over for drinks tomorrow!"
Va'ynna finds the two bottles needed for the drink and makes her way over to the bar, mixing them together in a glass almost filled with ice, and according to the ratio on the 'cheat sheet'. She places the glass ontop the counter, and waves at Jason, but doesn't call out his name.
Jason gives a look of acknowledgement as he realizes what they're talking about. "Look..." he says with a shrug, "Most jobs, we go out there and we get shot at... We return fire and hope that we kill them before they kill us, right? That's the easy part. It's cut and dry." He slides out of the booth as he spots Va'ynna setting his drink on the counter, but he remains at the edge of the table, leaning a hand against it, "The hard part comes when the shooting stops. And on that last job, the shooting stopped. We could've killed them in cold blood, and that would've been the end of it. But then we might as well move to Omega and paint a big sun on the front of our gear. We let them live. We did the right thing, and that's all we can do." he shrugs once again, "If they figure out who we are and decide to come for us, we'll deal with it. Until then, just be proud that we didn't take the easy way out." he slaps a hand on the table and gives Renala a wink before shuffling off towards the bar. "V!" he shouts as he reaches for his drink, "My hero!"
Zaylus continues to lean against his elbow for the duration of Jason's speech, piping up only after he's gone. "Well, he's right." The turian sighs reluctantly. "But don't tell him that, of course." He quickly adds, giving the asari an expectant look.
Va'ynna smiles, though is a little purpler around the cheeks. "Hey Jason," she says. "I hope you like it." While it's not the first time she has made the drink, she hasn't gotten much feedback. "How are you?"
Jason leans against the counter and takes a sip of his drink. "Delicious." he says as he sets the glass back down, "Not too bad. Work's a bit stressful, how 'bout you? Keeping busy?"
Renala nods. "Okay, I won't," she says. "I wouldn't have voluntered to put a bullet in their heads... except the biotic, maybe..., but we'll have to wait and see if that come back to bite us."
Va'ynna | "Yeah," she says. "I still have a lot to learn, but at least I sleep well." She goes quiet for a few seconds, then adds with a lowered voice, "The krogan's not upset with me, according to someone who knew him."
Zaylus leans back in his seat, offering her a small shrug. "It's a pretty big planet, and an ever bigger galaxy. I wouldn't dwell on that possibility too much."
Jason chuckles to himself and shakes his head, "I told you, V. Nothing to worry about." he says, giving a quick glance back towards the booth Renala and Zaylus are seated at, "Tell you what... How about you make a couple drinks for my friends over there?" he asks, nodding in the asari and turian's direction, "Just whatever's on hand."
An asari in a booth around the middle of the room, but along the opposite wall where Renala and Zaylus are sitting gets up from her seat, and approaches the bar with a gun in hand. She's been here about every other day for almost a month now, so many have probably seen her before. She's of sky-blue skin with faint yellow markings, wearing dark-red leather armor.
Va'ynna nods, and follows his glance. "Yeah, I can do that," she says. "Miss... T'Iavay seems to already have a glass, but yeah, I'll get to it." And with that she goes off to search for something among the racks along the wall.
Jason doesn't pay any attention to the approaching asari, instead he just continues to lean heavily against the counter as he waits for the other drinks.
Renala takes a long sip of her beer. "That's true," she says. "We're also spread out most of the time." She pauses, before adding, "And we could have been a one-off team of freelancers for all they know." She glances towards the armored asari, having seen her before, and tilts her head as she notices the gun in her hand.
Zaylus nods, "Just a whole lot of reasons not to worry, so whatever helps you sleep soundly." He answers casually, at this point not all too worried with the possibility. His gaze shifts over to Jason still up at the bar, and eventually comes to rest on the asari. He glances back at Renala, the look on her face answering the question he was about to ask. The turian keeps quiet now, but continues to occasionally glance at this somewhat suspicious figure.
The asari stops about three meters from the bar, about five meters on Jason's left, and raises the gun. "Nobody move," she shouts as she aims it at the bartender. A few guests in booths duck under the table. The round tables in the middle of the room have all been vacant.
Jason rotates to his left to get a look at the person speaking, and continues to lean against the bar with his elbow. "Ahh shit..." he mutters, "Just do what she says." he calls out to Va'ynna in an attempt at keeping the normally skittish asari calm, "You're gonna be fine, V."
Va'ynna glances over her shoulder to see what it's about and freezes in position, not moving a muscle too much. "G-G-Goddess," she murmurs, an expression of fear on her face.
Zaylus watches as the asari makes her move, his immediate reaction one of anger rather than fear. He balls his fists tight as a low growl escapes him. He is, however, smart enough to stay put.
Renala glances towards the scene. "Fuck," she mutters then looks towards the turian across from her, also staying put.
The trigger is pulled, but the shot will most likely miss as she jerked her other elbow to hit a salarian figure that materializes from a cloak right on her 7 'o clock, and she turns towards him. Some might recognize him as Rellis, holding a 17cm/6.7" monomolecular knife in his hand, but he doesn't give any sort of acknowledgment of the Redrock team's presence.
Jason takes the opportunity to stand up straight and reach for his Phalanx, attempting to draw it on the asari.
Va'ynna gasps as the shot is fired, standing still for four second with mouth agape, but her breath held. After she realizes she hasn't been shot -- or doesn't feel like she's shot --, she takes the chance and gets down on the floor, crawling towards the bar with haste. She's out of sight, but Jason might hear her sobbing.
Zaylus has a similar idea to Jason, and reaches for his pistol while attempting to rise from his seat.
Renala remains in the booth, watching the others with worry as she's neither in armor or have any weapons readily available.
She fires the rest of her Carnifex pistol's clip towards the salarian, before he tries to tackle her. She loses balance, falling on her fours, glaring at him. The salarian seems to have taken one of the shots to his upper torso, near the right shoulder. Neither of them seems to have noticed the others drawing their weapons.
Jason takes a step towards the asari and levels his weapon at her, "Drop the weapon!" he orders, his finger hovering over the trigger, "I won't ask again." He gives a glance towards Rellis', his gaze lingering on the salarian as he realizes who it is. "What are you doing here?" he asks suspiciously.
Zaylus keeps his weapon trained on the women, but sidesteps carefully around the scene, sneaking back behind the bar. "Va'ynna?" He whispers, glancing down toward the floor. "It's going to be alright, Va'ynna." He assures her, still reluctant to divert attention from the scuffle.
Va'ynna is sitting with her back against the bar counter, knees near her chest and head buried in her arms. She looks up at the turian as he speaks to her, wiping tears from under her eyes, but doesn't say anything. Her breathing is still shaky, but she manages to hold back her sobs for now.
Renala looks towards the scene, glancing at the bar occasionally, but dares not stand up as she's in no position to defend herself.
Skyblue pushes the pistol ahead of her, still standing on all fours on the floor. "Fuck you, Rellis," she growls.
Aylena – Respite's owner – emerges from the kitchen doorway, running towards the bar counter. There is a biotic barrier around her form, and she holds a Katana shotgun in her hand, aimed forward. She sends a pulling field towards the salarian to break the fighting up. "What in Goddess' name is going on out here?" she shouts, before she glances down at Va'ynna, but focuses on the threat.
Rellis sighs. "Doing my part," he says as he steps back, not elaborating further on it. "Let me handle it." He crouches by the asari with the knife drawn, but is interrupted as he levitated into the air by a biotic field, still holding on to the knife.
Jason takes a step back as Aylena rushes out and pivots on his heel, sweeping his weapon in the new arrival's direction. As soon as he realizes what's going on, however, he returns his attention to the downed asari. "Somebody care to tell me what in the hell is going on!?" he pleads and places a boot on the asari's pistol, kicking it away from the action, in Renala's general direction, "I enjoy a good barfight just as much as the next guy, but I what I don't appreciate is gunshots while I'm trying to get shitfaced."
Zaylus keeps his attention on the action, only momentarily taken off guard by the Respite's owner joining the fun. At this point he assigns himself as backup, remaining passive until the situation seems to get too out of control. "Just stay hidden, Va'ynna." He mutters. "This'll be over soon."
Va'ynna nods quietly, and buries her head in her folded arms again, silently praying this will be over without anyone getting hurt while the sobs return.
Renala raises an eyebrow as she sees the owner herself exit, and gets out of the booth. She makes her way over to and picks up the pistol, though she is aware the clip is empty.
Almost all 17 of the uninvolved patrons takes the opportuntiy to get out of the building, the 2 not exiting moves upstairs quickly.
Aylena glances at the turian before jogging around the counter, running up to the others. The field dissipates and drops the salarian. "Get out of here," she says to him before turning towards the asari, also curious about her answer.
Rellis falls down on the floor, losing his knife in the process. Seeing the terrible odds of success, he gets up and starts running.
Skyblue frowns, remaining quiet and unmoving for about ten seconds. "I...," she begins. "I had a job. Watch this place and wait for orders, but... apperently he decided to fuck me over in the last second."
Jason inches his way towards the knife on the floor and crouches down, picking it up to keep it away from the asari. "What do you mean he decided to fuck you over?" he asks, weapon still on the asari. He gives a quick glance towards Zaylus, just to get an idea on his positioning.
Renala approaches the others, not paying any attention to the departing salarian, though his involvement worried her.
Skyblue sighs, glancing towards the exit. "That salarian," she begins. "Rellis Darennon. I worked for him. He ordered me to elimiate Atana before all this happened."
Zaylus shakes his head in disbelief, outstretched arm slackening. "What?" He asks incredulously, "For what possible reason?"
Jason raises an eyebrow, unaware of Va'ynna's surname, "Atana?" he asks, glancing between Zaylus and the asari, "Who-..." he begins, before clueing in as to what would get Zaylus so upset, "Vaina?" he says, butchering her name once again, "V!?" he corrects, "Why would he want you to kill V? She's just a bartender!"
Va'ynna raises her brows as she looks up, looking even more scared. "Wh-why?" she mutters, barely audible even in the silence following the departure of most patrons. "I-I... don't understand."
Aylena nods, stepping closer to the asari. "That's her, yes," the middle-aged asari confirms, though she awaits the answer to Jason's question.
Skyblue nods. "Your guess is as good as mine, human," she answers, her tone or face giving no indications of the truthfulness of it. "Probably just a distraction to get behind my back."
Jason shakes his head, "You're not making any sense... Why would he hire you to kill her... Just so he could attack you. If you're hoping to leave this bar in one piece, I suggest you start telling us what the fuck is going on." he says, beginning to become rather aggitated.
Zaylus retightens his stance, growling lowly in agreement with Jason's sentiment. It quickly subsides as he regards Va'ynna with a sympathetic glance.
Renala folds her arms after she places the pistol on the bar counter. "Sure it's her you're after?" she says. "Come on, it just sounds like an excuse when the owner's gun is pointed at you."
Va'ynna shifts an inch towards Zaylus, shaking slightly as she wipes her tears from under her eyes with the back of her index finger.
Skyblue sighs. "When do salarians make sense?" she asks. "The quarrel with Atana is entirely his; not mine." She seemed to get slightly irritated. "If there ever was one."
Jason glances towards Aylena, "Doesn't sound like we're going to get much out of her... What do you want to do about this?" he asks, gesturing towards the asari with his weapon.
Zaylus glances down and back up once, a moment of indecision passing before he reluctantly places his pistol down the counter, temporarily offering it to Renala if she so chooses to wield it. He crouches down, giving Va'ynna a weak but reassuring smile. "Hey, they've got her under control now. Don't worry, alright?"
Aylena steps closer to the asari. "Well, she's not going anywhere until I say so," she says, gripping the shotgun with other hand as she aims it down on her. "Who are you, why did you take the job, and who does this Rellis work for?" she demanded as she placed a finger at the trigger. "Answer right now."
Jason takes another step back and moves to the side, not exactly excited to be in the general area of a shotgun spread.
Skyblue raises her brows. "Si-Siveya T'Vezan. Took the job as a condition for a company merge. I...uh... I don't have a name for those he works for." She spoke quickly, very afraid of the shotgun.
Jason crosses his arms, resting his Phalanx against his forearm. "Of course you don't. You realize none of this is making any sense, right? You've been in here every time I've stopped by for a drink these past few weeks." he says with a smug look on his face, "Yeah, I noticed ya. You're telling me it's all been about killing some innocent bartender who couldn't harm a fly? And then the man who hired you to do it is the one who stops you? I'm not buying it."
Va'ynna looks up at the turian, sucessfully suppressing her sobs, but her breath is still shaking, as well as the asari herself.. "Wh-wh-what about... the salarian? He... his quarrel with me?" Her voice is low enough to barely be heard clearly by those near Siveya.
Aylena taps the shotgun's business end against Siveya's head. "Niether am I," she says, but doesn't shoot.
Skyblue sighs. "I'm not lying," she says. "I don't want to kill Atana. I wanted to get this job over with to take down his organization from inside. I have been after them for twenty-six years. Rellis must have found out about my intentions. I thought I had him fooled."
Jason gives Zaylus a worried glance upon the asari's mention of issues with Rellis. "Who exactly is the salarian?" he asks, "What have his people done that has you up in arms?"
Zaylus goes ahead and sits completely down, facing the poor asari. "Don't listen to her, she's just making things up because she's caught." He quietly assures her, though not totally sure himself about what's really going on. The turian raises his head and meets Jason's glance, giving a short shake of his head before returning his attention to Va'ynna. "There's no reason for anyone to have an issue with you, you know that." He says, attempting to stop the train of thought before it gets too far.
Aylena takes a step back, letting go of the shotgun with one hand, but she still keeps her eyes on the asari. "Not letting you go, if that's what you're thinking. So keep talking."
Skyblue frowns. "That's... personal," she says, staying quiet for a few seconds before taking a deep breath. "But I guess I don't get away without telling, do I? I lost a good friend decades ago on Thessia, my partner in the huntresses to be specific. I didn't give up looking for answers, and here I am, as close as I may ever get." Her tone is lowered, saddened.
Va'ynna nods to Zaylus, though she has a hard time believing that. The fact of the matter is that someone tried to kill her. "I... um, I suppose you're right," she murmur, "but.... I don't... know." She brings up her hand to wipe the moisture under her eyes.
Jason sighs, not entirely sure how any of it adds up. "And you think whoever was behind that worked with the salarian?" he asks before shaking his head, "Look... All I give a fuck about is that my friend is safe. You can save the sob story for someone whose friend you didn't just try to kill."
Renala tilts her head at the story, not sure whether to believe it. She leaves the offered gun alone as she takes a few steps towards the others near Siveya.
Skyblue nods. "Would you finish a job for someone that just tried to stab you?" she asks followed by a snort. "I'll be out of this town for good if you let me go, you'll have my word on that, but I can't speak for the salarian."
Jason takes a seat at the bar, convinced that Aylena can handle the asari, and lays the knife down on one side of his drink and his pistol on the other before slugging back a large portion of his rum and coke. "Oh, I'll be having a little talk with the salarian, don't you worry about that. But if I so much as see you looking through the window here..." he rotates on his barstool and stares straight at the asari, "I'll kill you myself. You understand me?"
Zaylus frowns, "I know, I know." He says quietly, acknowledging the holes in that theory. "The point is we're going to figure out what the hell is going on here, and no one tries anything like that again. Alright?" He asks, offering a hand to her.
Aylena nods, and steps over to the asari, offering a hand to help her up. "I don't want to see you ever setting foot in here again," she says. "And if it's not him, it'll be me that kill you. Are we clear?"
Skyblue nods, and gets up with the other asari's help. "Yes, you don't have to worry about me," she says, "I'll keep my word."
Renala heads over to the bar and takes the seat beside Jason with a weary sigh, though she still watches the asari.
Jason rubs at his forehead and glances at Renala with a look on his face as if he's asking 'what's next?' With a sigh, he finishes off the rest of his drink. "You alright, V?" he asks tentatively.
Zaylus takes her hand, being mindful of the talons as he does. The turian awaits the skyblue asari to completely take her leave before attempting to coax Va'ynna back to her feet. He sits quietly as he too awaits the answer to the human's question.
Aylena nods. "Then get out before I change my mind," she growls before walking over to behind the bar without looking at her. "I'll be back in a moment," she says, heading through the door.
Skyblue turns on her heel and heads out with quick steps, leaving her jacket in the booth and her weapon on the counter behind.
Renala looks at Jason, frowning. "Goddess, what the fuck just happened," she says in a lowered voice, not as a question.
Va'ynna tenses as the turian takes her hand, still shaking. "Is... is it safe?" she asks, but at a nurmal conversational volume.
Zaylus briefly scans the floor and gives a affirming nod. Rolling back onto his feet, he slowly tries to bring her back up too. "Yeah, if she's smart she won't come back here again." He says, giving Jason and Renala a quick glance.
Jason shakes his head at Renala. "I have no idea... But I damn sure plan on finding out." he says with a sigh, "Not happy about Rellis being involved in whatever this is..."
Va'ynna lets herself be helped up to her feet, looking around the place apprehensively. "I'm... okay, Jason," she finally get to his question. "Thank you... all so much."
Renala nods. "No, neither am I," she says. "I didn't want to say it when she was still here, but I couldn't help but notice her suit's color. Along with Rellis being here... it's worrying me."
Jason slides his glass across the counter to Zaylus, "How about a refill while you're back there?" he asks, a weak smirk crossing his face, "Make yourself useful." After a moment he looks towards Renala to address her concerns, "I'll send out a message tonight. See what his side of the story is, if he even bothers to respond." he says and gives a shake of his head, "I'm not looking forward to getting pulled into the middle of other peoples grudges."
Zaylus gives him a less than sincere glare, letting go of Va'ynna somewhat reluctantly as he scoops his pistol back up off the counter and takes Jason's glass in another hand. "Just this once, human." He mutters, grabbing the appropriate bottles and containers.
Aylena returns from the kitchen, not bringing her shotgun this time. She glances towards the turian. "I won't stop you," she says with a weak smile. "It's the least I could do for the trouble. That goes for all of you."
Jason gives Va'ynna a wink. "You did good, V." he says, "I'm sure this whole thing was just a misunderstanding."
Va'ynna walks down the counter and picks up a datapad. "Yeah... I really hope it is," she says, not sounding too confident about it, as she walks over to Zaylus and hands the datapad to him. The title of the open document is 'Rum and Coke', containing instructions for recommended ratios and choices of rum.
Zaylus looks to Aylena as she appears, giving her a polite nod in response before being handed a data pad. "Oh, I had no idea there were... instructions." He says with a short chuckle, taking the data pad and studying it intently. After a few moments he pours some of the recommended amounts, placing it back in front of Jason as he walks past. "I don't know about you guys, but all this excitement as made me... well, tired of excitement." He says, coming back out from behind the counter.
Jason takes a sip of the drink and sets the glass back down. He tilts his head to one side, as if considering the drink, then the other before leaning further across the counter towards Va'ynna, "You make it better." he whispers, purposely remaining loud enough to be heard by Zaylus. After a short chuckle, he sits back in his seat.
Aylena passes Va'ynna on her way to the bar counter, patting her shoulder. "Take as many days off as you need, Va'ynna," she says in a lowered voice. "And come visit me down at the office when you want to talk." She stops near Jason, laying her hands flat on the counter. "You run the security company just out of town, right?"
Va'ynna nods at the other asari, but there's not much talk in her tonight. She returns to the counter. "I do?" she says. "I... read the instructions off the same page," Va'ynna admits.
Jason takes another swig of his drink before answering Aylena with a nod. He fishes one of his cards out from his hardsuit, lays it flat on the counter, and slides it across to the asari. "That's right... Redrock Agency." he says, "You've got a couple of my employees renting rooms here." he adds, gesturing towards Zaylus and Renala.
Zaylus gives a little wave at the mention of his name, seeming to wander on the outside of the conversation for the time being.
Aylena takes the card as she stands back up, looking it over for a moment before pocketing it. "Thank you," she says. "After what happened today, I really think this place could use some dedicated security. Is that a kind of contract Redrock would take on?"
Jason nods a few times, "Absolutely. Tell you what... Our contact info is on that card. Put together a proposal. Let us know what you're interested in, include a ballpark offer, and we'll work something out from there. Alright?"
Aylena taps on the terminal just by where she was standing. "Sounds good to me," she says. "It's going to be a long night for me getting this chaos down on paper, but I'll get to it tonight, or first thing tomorrow."
Renala stands up from her seat as her omni-tool notifies her of an incomming call. She supresses the notifaction, however. "I've got to get going," she says. "I'll see you all around." She takes a credit chit out of her pocket and drops it on the counter.
Jason nods again, "Take your time." he says to Aylena, worried that he doesn't have the staff ready for such an undertaking anyways. "I should probably get going, too." he says once Renala chimes in, "It's been a long day and this certainly didn't make things any less complicated." He takes a long swig of his drink, tossing the rest of it back, "I'll catch up with you guys later and let you know what I come up with." he adds, looking between Zaylus and Renala.
Zaylus glances between all those present before finally adding, "Yeah... I think you've got the right idea." He says, starting to back away from the counter.
Va'ynna offers a small smile. "I... hope to see you again," she says. "All... of you." She seems a lot calmer now, but she seems a little shaken up still.
Jason offers Va'ynna one of his lopsided smiles, "Oh, you can count on it, V. Try not to dwell on it. We're gonna get to the bottom of all this, I promise." he says, sliding his credit chit across the counter.
Aylena shakes her head. "I've cleared your tabs," she says, pushing the credit chits back to Renala and Jason. "Don't worry about paying for tonight, since you helped me back there."
Jason retrieves his chit with a nod, "Much appreciated." he says, standing from his seat and giving the others one last wave before reholstering his Phalanx, grabbing the knife off the counter, and exiting the building.
Zaylus watches Jason and Renala go, taking that as a good moment to give the two remaining asari a departing wave as he too retires to his room.
Va'ynna returned the wave. She remained on the floor, helping Aylena clean and tidy up the place before following her to the staff-only area through the door behind the bar.
