#Miner'sRespite – August 7, 2014

Halisi enters the Respite, and, upon seeing no one of particular familiarity, starts heading towards the bar. She's wearing casual clothes rather than her doctor's coat for once, and looks almost a bit lost in the inn.

Aylena stands at the bar, typing away at a terminal while waiting for anyone to signal for her.

Halisi reaches the bar and puts her elbows on the counter, leaning on them as she looks around at the various bottles and such. She doesn't seem to be in any rush.

Renala makes her way down the staircase, looking around the floor. She spots Halisi during her descent and approaches the bar in a brisk pace to catch up with her. "Hey, doc," she says before taking the seat beside her. "How's it going?" The asari's clad in a dark-blue modest top beneath her halfway-zipped-up brown leather jacket.

Halisi seems slightly startled by Renala - she was no doubt in her own thoughts. "Huh? Oh! Hey. T'Iavay." She offers a smile before sitting down on a stool, glancing in Aylena's direction but making no real effort to call her attention.

Renala smiles before waving at the asari behind the counter. "The usual," she says before turning back to Halisi. "So, how's it going?"

Aylena looks up from her work, making her way over to a beer tap, which is near the two of them. "What about you?" she asks Halisi before picking out a pint-glass and starts pouring a beer.

Halisi ponders the question for a moment, turning a bit to the side to talk with Renala. "Good, I guess. Things are calm at the hospital for once... got some time off. Not... really sure how to spend it. But-" She looks at Aylena as the question is asked. "I... uh... I don't know." She glances at Renala, as if asking for help."

Renala nods. "And one for her too," she says, "on my tab." She turns towards Halisi. "Well, going out for a drink is one way to spend it," she says. "Can't say I never did that back when I had work with... more consistent structure."

Halisi smirks, and then seems to think for a moment before asking: "What do you do? Between missions? Must be a lot of free time."

Aylena pours another glass of beer before placing them both on the counter infront of her. "Here you go." Another patron calls for her attention, though, and she makes her way over.

Renala hums thoughtfully. "I usually have one more projects to occupy my time," she says. "The programs I use in the field, for example."

I bought a wreck of some Hahne-Kedar mech for cheap a while ago, and fixed it up. Now I just need to figure out how to shut these off remotely... regardless of who controls it.

Halisi glances at the drinks as they arrive. She grabs one of the beers with an appreciative nod, sipping it while listening to Renala. "Oh. I didn't realize you were that tech-oriented. What kind of mech is it? Security?"

Renala nods. "Yeah. Hahne-Kedar LOKI to be specitifc," she says. "I've worked with tech one way or another since I a was forty-something. I had a real programming job, too, but I've kind of taken a break from the matron's life."

Halisi nods as she listens, glancing briefly out at the bar before looking back at Renala. She chuckles faintly at "forty-something". "It's hard not to feel like a child talking to asari. What I wouldn't give for the chance to spend a few decades studying."

Renala chuckles. "It's fucking boring, to be honest," she says with a smrik. "As soon as opportunity arose, I left home to see what's out there. Doing anything from bartending to running with a few mercs to take care of tech that got in their way."

Halisi snickers and sips her beer. "Adventerous heart, hm?"

Yes, but I would be lying if that was rare. It's almost part of being a maiden.

Renala takes a sip of her beer and sighs. "It's a wonder I survived it all."

Halisi takes a thoughtful sip. "You're out here again though. Being a matron is all about stability, kids, stuff like that, isn't it? I mean... I only really know the biology of it..."

Renala glances at her glass. "Mhmm," she begins. "I lead that sort of life for around two decades, but... things didn't work out between me and my bontmate any longer. We had a kid, though," a smile creeps up, "and we still talk regularly enough."

Halisi looks a bit worried that she may have offended the asari. "Oh. ...oh. I didn't-... you have a daughter, then? How old?"

Renala smiles reassuringly. "Fourteen," she says. "Our divorce hasn't been easy on her, but it's been fine between us... as long as I'm not outside comm range when she calls."

Halisi nods. "Guess that can be an issue out here. Not a whole lot of infrastructure. I don't really have anyone I'd need to keep in touch with..."

Renala frowns, looking a little unsure what to say for a moment. "You're not making friends at the agency?"

Halisi shrugs faintly. "I'm not really there much. Except when Chief Vasquez needs help with her recovery."

What about the hospital, then?

Halisi smiles slightly. "That'd be where I spend most of my time. Taking care of patients. Not much time for... socializing."

Renala pats her shoulder. "Let's hope the calm situation at the hospital keeps up, then," she says with a smile before her omni-tool interrupts her. She glances at the projection. "I've got to get going," she says. "I'll see you around, Halisi."

Halisi glances at the asari's omni-tool and then nods. "Yeah, absolutely. Nice talking to you."

Renala downs the remainder of her glass before making her way upstairs to her room.
