#AsteroidMine – April 16, 2014

The engineer is back in Engineering, tending to the engine. Vaden has recently woken up, and is sitting in the team quarters, looking at his stump in silence. The doctor is in the hangar, having recently finished disposing the dead after studying them. Vasquez is in the middle of stopping by the cockpit to check on their progress. Administrator and most of the miners are in their quarters.

Renala has been laying down on her bed for the last few hours, her sleep having been rather afected by the ordeal a few days prior. Not that she's talked about it. She slowly sits up, enabling her omni-tool to see if they're close enough for extranet access now. The asari's clad in the only pieces of clothing she had brought, the fully covering clothes she usually wore beneath the old hardsuit.

There is no such luck.

Vaden looks over at Renala. "Reading?"

Renala looks over to the salarian. "Nah, I'm just checking for extranet access," she says, a little groggily. "And the time. I'm not used to staying on ships for long."

Vaden nods at the reply and then goes quiet, looking at his arm again, clearly dismayed.

Renala glances at his arm. "How are you holding up, Vaden?"

Vaden blinks. "Drugs help. Somewhat. It's not good... can't type."

Renala looks away for a moment. "Oh, yeah, I'd be bored as hell...," she says. "Don't you have anything to read on your omni-tool?"

Vaden gains a faint smile. "Actually... I always bring my favourite. The Tale of Wenrum. Some reading might be good. Take the mind of... what happened. Maybe."

Renala nods. "I never planned for this being a long trip," she says, "so I don't have much I feel like reading. Mostly documentations for systems and all that crap."

Vaden nods and takes out his omni-tool, typing rather slowly due to using the small palm ring rather than the wrist keyboard. "Could send you a copy. If you enjoy Salarian Romanticism."

Renala chuckle. "Well, I could take a look at it, at least," she says. "There's not much else to do until we reach Aite anyway."

Vaden 's face shines up and he nods while typing a bit more. Soon Renala would recieve a promt to accept the novel. "Not the same as the old paper copy I have on Aite, but something."

Renala accepts the file and lets it transfer. "Thanks," she says. "And I take it you're living in Freedom Falls, then?"

Vaden 's omni-tool fades away. "Yes. Have a small apartment. I just want to... go back. Leave this ship. Too many dead." His face slowly takes on a rather shaken expression as his thoughts are drawn back to what they've been through.

Renala nods. "You and me both, Vaden," she says. "We should be back soon, right?"

Vaden is about to respond when the doctor enters. She moves to between Renala and Vaden's beds. "The... the bodies have been disposed of." Her gaze falls to the floor briefly. "This... virus, it's-.... I've never seen anything like it before."

Renala looks up at the doctor. "I don't think anyone do," she says, "but... I'm hoping we're all safe from it now? If that breaks out in Freedom Falls..."

Halisi nods with a reassuring smile. "There's a reason I made everyone submit blood tests. No one is infected, and the bodies have been disposed of. All that is left to handle is the dining hall. But... that's not why I'm here. I... wanted to thank you. For saving us."

Renala smiles weakly. "I'm glad we could save you," she says. "And... I'm sorry for arguing against the last sweep." She glances towards the salarian, as well.

Vaden nods at the doctor with a faint smile. Upon hearing Renala he glances briefly at her before going quiet as he connects the dots in his mind.

Halisi looks at Renala in silence for a bit before sighing. "I understand. You were scared. You had lost some of your own."

Renala nods, and sighs. "I'm... not much of an optimist," she says, "and... there were many of them down there, I thought.... I am glad I was wrong."

Halisi : "Nobody would've survived if it wasn't for you. And you lost a lot of your own. I'm grateful, and so are the others. I just thought you should know."

Renala nods, again. "Yeah, it was terrifying for us," she says, "I can't imagine how it was for you who were stuck there for... how long was it?"

Halisi closes her eyes briefly. "Ten days." She opens them and looks at the salarian. "I should take another look at your arm. There's not much I can do here, but still..."

Vaden nods and stands up, giving Renala an ambiguous look before following the doctor out of the room.

Renala frowns as she notices the salarian's look at her, but remains quiet.
