#Spaceport – March 5, 2015
The Redrock shuttle hangar is still a bit shot-up due to the recent firefight. A pair of shuttles sit along with some crates along the walls. Vasquez is half-sitting on the edge of one of said crates, waiting for her team to show up. Halisi is already there, as well as Vaden and three others - a drell and two humans. (Tyranniac)
Sioria arrives exactly on time, suited up with her battle rifle ready. She seems wide eyed, bushy tailed, and ready to join in the fun. She makes her way through the hanger and leans against one of the taller containers, waiting for the briefing to start.
Ilyna arrives at the hangar, alone. She looks a little thoughtful and not too happy. She is wearing her casual wear, but all her equipment is in the heavy bag in her hand, carried mostly by a biotic field. Ilyna is wearing her biotic amp, however, although it's very hard to notice.
Jason gives Sioria a nod as she arrives. Once he spots Ilyna, he stands from his seat and moves to approach her. "Thanks for coming..."
Ilyna steps towards Jason. "I couldn't not come with you after hearing about it," she says. "And, uh, I'll... finish the report on the trip, if that's okay?"
Sioria returns the nods and waits. She recognised Ilyna from Ehanis' description. She didn't seem that much of a hardass...
Jason gives an understanding nod. "Yeah, of course. It's not a big deal. This needs to take precedence. Just-... Uhh... Did it go alright?"
Ilyna nods. "Yes, aside from some combat," she says. "I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy spending time with the client. Leah did great, and Victoria too most of the time, but she could get better at following orders." She kept her voice low.
Damien walks into the hangar, avenger and carnifex strapped to his usual armour. His helm is tucked under his arm. He nods to the other occupants of the room, taking a seat on a nearby crate.
Jason passes a glance towards Victoria and mutters. "Alright, well... You can bring me up to speed on all that once we handle the current issue. Hopefully he'll be able to bring in some more clients for us."
Vaden is looking rather nervous. He seems a bit disappointed to not be seeing any sign of Renala. (Tyranniac)
Fatsani , one of the humans, is wearing what appears to be an Alliance marine hardsuit with the distinctive blue camo pattern - although with insignia removed. Her face is badly scarred, making it hard to tell her expression, but she looks dead-serious. (Tyranniac)
Steve enters the hangar giving a wave to nobody in particular. He's fully suited up with his helmet under his arm and SMG holstered on his thigh. He makes his way over to one of the random crates and plops down.
Bayani , the other human, looks rather enthusiastic at the prospect of an upcoming mission. He's rather short, and doesn't appear to have any weapons equipped. (Tyranniac)
Leah marches into the hangar fully geared out. She walks past Victoria, giving her a slight nudge and a smile. She makes her way over to Ilyna and Jason. "This ought to be interesting." she sighs, "Gotta be honest, I'm not too excited to see more of those creatures, boss."
Sioria shifts a little. "Well, if that doesn't make someone enthusiastic to go..." she mumbles, listening to the others.
Vasquez grunts. "Looks like we have a few people running late. The briefing can't wait, so everyone listen up!" (Tyranniac)
Ilyna pats Leah on the shoulder. "Three of us," she says with a tiny smile, "but I'm glad to have you with us, Leah." She then looks towards the chief.
Jason gives a nod and lets out a deep breath as he leaves Ilyna and Leah's side and takes a spot near the head of the room beside Vasquez.
Jasper and Jattic enter the hangar side-by-side, picking up the pace a bit as they overhear Vasquez. "Hold onto yer' butt, Chief, I'm comin'!" Jasper hollers.
Vasquez moves away from the crate she was leaning against, standing up straight as her eyes move across the group gathered in the hangar. She's about to start speaking when she's interrupted by Jasper, causing an annoyed scowl to shoot his way. "Ahem... as most of you know, this mission is not one that Redrock has been hired for. Today, I'm your client and your boss. Some of your are familiar with our enemy, some of you are not. (Tyranniac)
Machine cultists. You may have heard of them or their creations, dismissed it as conspiracy theories. Rest assured they're not. They'r real, they're dangerous, and we're taking them out." She pauses to take a breath. (Tyranniac)
Ilyna nods to Leah, but remains quiet to not interrupt Vasquez. She looks around the room after she has introduced the enemy.
Sioria lets out a low whistle. Can turians whistle? Well, she made a similar sound. "Machine cultists... that's new..." she mumbles to herself.
Mendez remains standing near the middle of the room and folds his arms across his chest as Vasquez' speaks. Having missed out on the action at Ogofau, he's still heard the stories around the office from the others that were there. A scowl is painted across his face, as per usual.
Vasquez begins again. "Redrock has faced their creations before, on the Ogofau asteroid mine. Some of you were there. You know how dangerous they are. Some of you have... previous experience. Know that before we were unprepared, this time.... we are not. Their compound is located in the Di Yu system, at the very edge of the Rosetta Nebula. We will be heading there on a freighter docked right here in Freedom Falls, the MSV Susanna. (Tyranniac)
For the purposes of this mission, we have not only brought on extra personnel, but acquired new hardware - an M-080 APC loaded with equipment. This is necessary, because on the planet we're going to atmospheric conditions prevent small craft like shuttles from flying. Weather conditions are severe, but the air is breathable." (Tyranniac)
Philip runs into the room, out of breath. "Don't leave without me!" he yells while stumbling to get in line. (Tyranniac)
Jasper adjusts the cap atop his head and glances around. He puts a hand up, looking somewhat uncertain at how to address asking a question.
Sioria puts up her hand. "What kind of terrain are we looking at." she asks. "Environmental hazards? Blizzards? Sand storms?"
Steve leans back on his crate, propping himself up with the palms of his hands. He glances over in Philip's direction as he storms in and rolls his eyes.
Jason glances towards the door, hoping to see Tarlon. He sighs and shifts anxiously when he realizes it's only Philip.
Vasquez focuses her gaze on Sioria. "Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. You will all be given an information file on the place. We're going to be landing in New Longhai, the only settlement on the planet. Aside from the cultist compound. Now, before any other questions, Dr. Halisi is going to provide a briefing on the... creatures... unleashed by these cultists." With that, she steps aside and motions for the doctor to speak. (Tyranniac)
Halisi steps up and nods to Vasquez before taking a look around the room while putting her datapad away. "I'm sure most of you have heard about the methods used by the geth during their attack on the Citadel. They turned people... civilians, into mindless-... well, they reanimated them with nanotechnology. Husks. You've all seen the vids, some of you have fought them. We don't know what connection, if any, the cultists have to the (Tyranniac)
geth, but they use similar methods. The threat has been dismissed as conspiratorial nonsense by most - no one else is doing anything about this, which is why we have to. The cultists, they employ certain artifacts, their objects of worship, to transform others into husks. These creatures are dangerous, but can be safely dealt with from a distance. On Ogofau, we saw... something else. Deadlier. These things were enhanced with (Tyranniac)
element zero. Possessed some biotic capacity as well as enhanced intelligence. But most importantly - they're infectious. Do not, under any circumstance, let them inject their nanites into you. You will die and you will transform. Take them out from a distance when possible, and avoid direct contact with the liquid within them." (Tyranniac)
Vasquez offers a nod of thanks to the doctor as she steps aside, looking both a bit shaken at recalling past events and excited to finally be doing something. Vasquez steps forward again and calmly surveys the team in silence. (Tyranniac)
Fatsani remains quiet throughout the briefing, only nodding in agreement at some of the information presented. (Tyranniac)
Sioria exhales a little, feeling a bit of fear in her, but taps her mid-long range rifle and sighs with relief. Best dealt with at long range? That's her specialty.
Steve glances around at the others. "I've seen these fuckers. Keep em away, and we'll all be fine. One of these things gets ahold of you, though..." he pats his holstered SMG, "...There ain't much choice but to put ya down."
Jasper nervously fiddles with his cap, as he tends to do. He looks towards the ground for a moment, nodding to himself as he recalls the ordeal.
Damien silently listens, tapping his foot against his crate gently. "How does this nanotech react to an overload?" he asks eventually.
Halisi speaks up at Damien's question, as Steve answered Victoria's. "No effect. It should however work to disable one of the creatures themselves." (Tyranniac)
Jattic visibly frowns. "Are we sure that these-... husks are even going to be present? If they're as dangerous as you claim, it would be foolish to keep them on site, would it not?"
Vasquez shakes her head. "No. We are not. It could very well be that the cultists have none of the creatures in their compound, but I want everyone to be prepared." (Tyranniac)
Keep in mind that, as far as we're aware, merely coming in contact with these things isn't enough to pass the condition. We've had close quarters combat with the creatures with no negative effects. Obviously, keep your distance as best you can, but-...
Jason glances at Steve, "When it comes to teammates, we don't pull that trigger unless there's no other choice."
Vasquez nods in agreement with Jason and then looks over the group once more. "Any other questions?" (Tyranniac)
Garr | A loud crash sounds outside, and then the boom of someone hammering unnecessarily loudly on a door panel. When the door does open, the light outlines the silhouette of a massive hulking krogan, fully suited up. Half his face is covered in massive acid burn scars.
Jasper puts his hand back up. "You said we ain't gonna be able to get 'round with our shuttles?" he asks, hand still high in the air, "Well, I don't mean to play the role of Cap'n Obvious here, but how are we all gon' manage to fit in one APC once we touch down?"
Ilyna turns quickly towards the krogan and steps back, a biotic shimmer forming around her as she thinks they're under attack.
Jason breaks formation as he hears the sound, and takes a couple steps closer to the door, hand down at his holstered sidearm. As soon as the door slides open, a big grin crosses from ear-to-ear, "Well, shit. Been a while, Garr." he calls out as he eases up and takes a couple steps towards the krogan, "You're late."
Garr stomps into the room as if he owns the place and walks up to Jason to give him a hearty slap on the back that might send a weaker man flying across the room.
Ilyna lets go of the biotics and she approaches him with a big smile. "Uh, sorry," she says, rubbing the back of her neck. "Didn't recognize you for a moment."
Vasquez smirks slightly. "You're right, we won't all fit into the APC. We have-..." She flinches a bit as the door opens, but as soon as she realizes it's Garr she grins. "Meet Nakmor Garr. Our battering ram." (Tyranniac)
Jason gives a nod at Damien's question. "He's with us. Old-..." he pauses, attempting to come up with a word to properly describe Garr. "...Friend?" he says, more as a question than a statement. He winces at the slap.
Philip seems more than a little terrified of the krogan, making sure to stay behind some of the others. (Tyranniac)
Tarlon quietly sneaks in while everyone is distracted by the krogan, investigating the door panel with some worry. He's wearing slightly battered dark purple combat armour.
Vaden is rather surprised by the krogan, but when he sees Tarlon he seems rather interested at the prospect of another salarian coming on the mission. (Tyranniac)
Garr 's face lights up in a huge grin when he spots Ilyna. "Bluie! Always good ta see ya. Got yer mind all polished up for yer old mate Garr, eh?"
Tarlon does not seem very reassured to see Garr. At all. In fact, he looks like he might just change his mind and run away.
Athorus reaches for one of his SMGs when Garr enters the hangar, but stops once he notices he is not hostile - well, mostly not hostile. (Tyranniac)
Jason continues towards the arriving salarian once he spots him. "We picked up a little extra firepower." he whispers as he closes in on Tarlon.
Garr gives Ilyna a deep throaty chuckle. "Awww, still no fun. I'll get ya yet, bluie." He looks around at the assembled crew. "So who're all these pantywaists?"
Vasquez lets out an annoyed grunt, covering her face with her palm briefly. "If we could get back to the briefing..." (Tyranniac)
Tarlon 's wide eyes are still fixed on the krogan with some degree of discomfort, but he turns to Jason. "Yes. Firepower. Can see that. Suppose if anyone deserves to have that krogan set loose on them, it is this cult. Not very comfortable having him around, though. Not a fan of angry krogan."
Mendez takes a couple steps towards the krogan. Being the only person in the room remotely in Garr's size range, he's able to look Garr in the eye on a somewhat even level. He extends a gauntleted hand towards the krogan. "Mendez." he says simply.
Jason remains beside Tarlon, keeping his voice down. "Well, then I suggest you try not to make him angry." he says lightheartedly with a smirk.
Garr grips Mendez' hand in a vice-like grip - it's probably a good thing he's got armour. "Well, look at ya. You aren't half tiny, eh?"
Tarlon sniffs. "Will refrain from getting close in the first place, if it's all the same to you. Krogans like holding grudges, and do not care to discuss genophage with them."
Vasquez yells out: "Alright! Listen up! As I was saying... we have a truck to carry those that won't fit in the APC, but it is not armored or armed. Are there any other questions before we board the ship?" (Tyranniac)
Mendez gives the krogans hand a shake and rolls his shoulders. "Good genes." he grunts. Due to his lack of any real sense of humor, it's impossible to tell if he's kidding or not.
Leah folds her arms across her chest. "Do we have a timeframe we're working on? When are we expecting to get back?"
Sioria pushes off from the container. "Lets rock and roll." she says in a smooth voice, even behind her helmet.
Vasquez nods at Leah. "It's going to be a five-day trip to Di Yu, so at least ten days, likely a bit more." (Tyranniac)
Vasquez nods. "Everyone make sure you have all your gear, and head to hangar B5 to board the Susanna." (Tyranniac)
Steve grabs his helmet and hops off the crate. He keeps his head low as he makes his way towards the exit.
Jason looks over to Tarlon and takes a deep breath. "Time to finally put this whole thing behind us." he sighs.
Sioria checks her gear. "See you all on board." she says, nodding to them then heading out of the port to grab her equipment.
Athorus glances at Sioria again before turning around and moving towards the indicated hangar. (Tyranniac)
