#Catacombs – March 17, 2015
Halisi wastes no time, and returns her attention to Damien since Leah wandered off. She feels the area around the broken rib with her hand and then takes out a medi-gel canister, starting to apply it through his armor. "This will numb the pain - there's not much else I can do right now." (Vasquez)
Jason watches distantly down the hall towards the now-destroyed artifact room for a few moments. "You gonna be alright?" he asks, casting a glance back at Monroe, "Without that elevator, we don't have many other choices besides to push forward..."
Philip is looking down at one of the dead husks, prodding it with his foot. "What the fuck... this is messed up." (Vasquez)
Leah rubs at her ears as a ringing echoes. She winces a bit and gives Philip a nod. "No kidding..." she sighs.
Damien draws his Carnifex inspecting it in his left hand. "Reloading will be a bitch, but I can handle it," he grunts, slightly narrowing his eyes.
Fatsani attaches the grenade launcher to her back again, and pulls out her Crusader, sweeping its light across the lab window. (Vasquez)
Ilyna looks at Jason. "Do you think we should stick together from now on?" she says. "We still have one door to check back there."
Jason sighs and seems to consider it for a few moments. "It's far too narrow for us to get much of a benefit from staying so closely bunched together." he says, "But we should probably remain closer in case we come across more numbers like that. How about you help us clear this area?"
Halisi stands up and moves over to Leah. She grabs a hold of the woman's chin without really notifying her and looks her face over. "I can make sure this doesn't pose any health hazard, but... there might be permanent scarring. I'm sorry, I-... I had to stop that thing." (Vasquez)
Leah jerks her head away upon hearing Halisi. "Permanent scarring? There has to be something you can do, right?"
Damien holsters his weapon and smirks slightly. "Scars on a woman are attractive," he comments. He checks his omni-tool and powers up his tech-armour.
Jason gives a nod. "How about starting with the door back around the corner?" he asks, "It'll be on your left just before the reception. We'll stick to this wing."
Ilyna nods again, and stars walking towards and around the corner. "Follow me," she says once she passes some of her team.
Halisi reaches into her satchel and pulls out a small bottle, which she soaks a piece of cloth in before placing it against Leah's skin as gently as she can. "This will heat up the area - you're going to feel burning. It will help, but scarring is likely." She's clearly feeling quite guilty about the whole thing, keeping her gaze away from Leah. (Vasquez)
Jattic gives a nod, still somewhat shaken up by being hurled like a projectile. He walks alongside Ilyna, hefting his Firestorm in his arms.
Leah winces as Halisi makes contact with her face, and shoots Damien a sidelong glance. "But you can fix it when we get back, right!?" she asks, "I don't-..." she sighs and hesitates for a moment, "I'm not trying to sound unappreciative, doctor, but... If this looks half as bad as it feels-..."
Vaden moves after Ilyna with a nod - he seems to be trying to keep his flashlight on every dark corner at once. (Vasquez)
Jason gives Philip a nudge. "Well...?" he asks expectantly. It's clear that this place is beginning to wear on him. Especially after running into another artifact like the one on the Evening Star. "You gonna stand around all day?"
Philip snaps out of it, looking around for his team. "Huh? Oh, sorry sir! Yes sir!" He runs off after them. (Vasquez)
Ilyna stops and enables her comms. "I can't hear most of what you're saying, Vasquez," she says. "I repeat: I can't hear what you're saying, Vasquez."
Jason perks up slightly at the sound of Vasquez' voice, but adds nothing to what Ilyna says. He moves to the head of the group and glances over at Monroe. "Firestorm out of juice?"
Leah pushes the doctor's hand away, looking a bit frustrated. She grips her Mattock tightly and falls into line behind Jason and Monroe.
As Bravo squad moves down the corridor, muffled sounds of roaring thunder can be heard from the reception, or rather the elevator shaft beyond. (Vasquez)
Jason sighs and grabs the Firestorm. He looks over it for a moment before simply tossing the weapon aside. "This is going well..." he mutters and starts towards the next door on the right-hand side.
Halisi puts the cloth away with a sigh before closing her medical satchel and looking to Jason. (Vasquez)
Jason continues down the hall, responding without looking back at Fatsani. "Yes!" he orders, frustration creeping into his voice, "Now go! The sooner we clear this fucking deathtrap, the sooner we can start looking for a way out."
Fatsani gives a sharp nod and heads off without a word - she soon joins Bravo squad by the door, taking up position on one side of it. (Vasquez)
Ilyna waits for the last one to catch up before stepping back and raising her weapon half-way. "Open the door, Kur'don," she says.
Jattic wastes no time tapping the interface and raising his Firestorm, eager to get a little revenge for being tossed around.
The door opens to reveal another lab - empty aside from broken down lab equipment and stray cybernetics. (Vasquez)
Jason stops at the door on the right-hand side of the north-south hall and hovers his hand over the interface as he waits for the others to get into position. His demeanor seems a bit more anxious and impatient.
Jattic relaxes his grip on his weapon. "Clear." he grunts, moving across the room towards the next door without requiring any orders.
Halisi moves up to join Jason, but she stops as her flashlight shines upon the door at the end of the corridor. "Look." (Vasquez)
The doorway at the end of the corridor has the word "SACRARIUM" crudely painted across it. (Vasquez)
The cybernetics look like they were part of a husk once - on close inspection they are attached to pieces of bone. (Vasquez)
Jason gives a shake of his head. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We'll get to it eventually." he says. He gives Damien a glance to ensure he's ready and then taps the interface on the door.
Alpha team's door opens up into... another lab. This one has what remains of two tables, as well as a computer console covered in grey moss. There is a single door along the right wall. (Vasquez)
Jason steps inside and to the left of the door, sweeping his Revenant from left to right. "Keep the hall clear, Leah." he orders as he moves further into the room.
Damien walks around Jason cautiously, sweeping the room. "Clear," he calls, before holstering his gun and moving to the computer console to try and boot it up. After clearing the moss, of course.
A husk, hidden behind one of the tables, grabs Damien's leg and pulls him to the ground while gnawing at his armor. (Vasquez)
Damien cries out as he slams into the ground. "FUCKOFFYOUPISECEOFSHIT!" He slams his other foot into its face repeatedly. "I. AM. NOT. DINNER!".
Jason hurries to Damien's side and plants a boot against the side of the husks head, attempting to kick him away from Monroe.
The door opens into the lab with the windows. Cabinets and lab equipment line the walls. The table is clear with broken equipment as well as a white stain on the floor next to it. (Vasquez)
The husk is kicked away by Jason after being kept at bay by Damien, but it digs sharp metal fingers into Jason's leg as he kicks it, piercing the armor undersuit. (Vasquez)
Halisi rushes in to the room, but the husk is already handled when she reaches Jason and Damien. (Vasquez)
Fatsani moves across the other side of the room, meeting Jattic on the other side of the table and giving a nod to confirm his statement. (Vasquez)
Damien awkwardly reloads his Carnifex and holsters it. He lets out a long groan, staying down on the floor. "It is now... Can I go to sleep?" He calls back.
Ilyna steps into the room after the other two. She activates her comms. "Is there more of them?" she asks. "I heard fighting."
Jason swings an angry kick into the side of the dead husk before activating comms. "It's dead." he says bluntly.
Jason shoots Damien a glare, but it slowly turns into a smirk. "Get off your ass." he says, reaching a hand out to help the man up, "This place is getting under my skin..."
Damien stares at the offered hand for a moment. With a brief chuckle, he clasps his hand and heaves himself up. "Lead on then," he says, drawing his pistol.
Jason moves over to the next wall which, he assumes, will lead into the windowed lab, given the layout from the hall. "We might be coming your way, so hold your fire." he announces over comms before waiting a few seconds, tapping the interface and raising his Revenant.
Halisi activates her omni-tool and gives Damien a quick scan. "You should try to avoid falling over if you want that to heal properly." she states in a rather deadpan manner. (Vasquez)
Damien flicks his gaze to the dead husk. "You get face to face with one and ask politely. I'm sure it'll listen," he jokes.
Jattic swings around as he hears the door slide open and grips his weapon a bit more tightly, perhaps affected by this place more than he's letting on.
Ilyna looks towards the door, raising her weapon slightly before catching herself and lowering it again.
Philip aims his weapon at the door despite Jason's instructions. It takes him a few moments to realize who he's looking at and lower it. (Vasquez)
Jason hurries through the door as it opens, but immediately lowers his weapon as he spots Bravo. "That covers our ass." he says, "There were a few doors further down the hall. Let's get moving and wrap this wing up."
Going to double back and grab my helmet, quickly. With the amount of times I've fallen over, I'd rather have something to cushion the blow.
Damien glares at Leah, flipping her the bird. "Rich, coming from a blonde. Don't make me fry your amp," he teases, making his way back to where he discarded his helm.
Ilyna nods. "We'll help with that." She enables her comms. "We're going with Alpha to check the doors further down the hall."
The terminal comes to life and a hologram starts to materialize where Damien is standing, causing it to be rather distorted. (Vasquez)
The hologram now materializes fully - it is the same asari as the previous hologram encountered, with lightning bolt markings on her cheeks. She is wearing something that looks like a mix between a fancy robe and a researcher's outfit. "T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-..." (Vasquez)
Damien moves back to the terminal and activates his omni-tool. He switches between the terminal and his omni-tool, this time being very careful as not to shut anything down, nor activate anything.
Jattic doesn't seem too interested in what the hologram has to say, instead he continues to pace around the room, watching out for any approaching threats.
The hologram stops stuttering after some quick adjustments. "T-This is Matriarch Tharele's final log. The situation has escalated beyond my control. I should have known something was wrong after the first incident. Everyone in contact with Object One has been compromised. I did not realize the danger until we found the other one... Thessia will not know. I have shut down all communications, and initiated a facility-wide lockdown. We cannot (Vasquez
risk anyone that has been compromised getting out. The others do not know, they think it is temporary... but we cannot leave. This is the only way. We should never have come here. What we found dies with us." (Vasquez)
Jason glances over at Ilyna. "Other one." he repeats with a sigh. "Sounds like they did what they could to protect people from these... things. Unfortunately, I guess it fell into the wrong hands." He takes a couple steps into the room, "Guess that also means that these cultists aren't behind all of this. Just using it the tech they found..."
Halisi seems completely focused on listening to the hologram. After it finishes she stands in silence. (Vasquez)
Ilyna looks at the terminal, then sighs as she finishes speaking. "Maybe... we could give this to the Thessian authorities if anyone got it recorded," she says, "but first, let's... destroy the other object."
Philip seems to have trouble of thinking of anything to say - he looks rather lost in fact. (Vasquez)
Jason nods. "Sounds like the best course of action." he agrees. "So we've got our objectives: Find this other object. Clear the rest of these creatures out. Get the fuck out of here." he glances between the others, "Added bonus if you come across anything that'll allow us to turn this place into rubble."
The terminal is a complete mess with an outdated system and most of the files are corrupted. It doesn't look like there is anything useful accessible aside from a facility diagnostics program. (Vasquez)
(Comms) Linda, do you copy? We've found and destroyed one of the artifacts. Some information we came across implies that there's a second artifact, so we're moving to find it. We'll finish a sweep of the facility, find Garr, and then work on getting back to the surface.
A readout appears on Damien's omni-tool: "Generators: Offline. Auxiliary Generators: Offline. Doors: Online. Elevator: Offline. Lights: Offline. Laboratories: Partial. Containment Scanner: Offline. Security Systems: Offline. Drills: Online. Minimum-Priority Systems: Offline. Communications: Offline. Pumps: Offline. Mainframe Computer: Partial. Facility Quarantine Active. (Vasquez)
Damien closes down his omni-tool and moves off back to the room where his helmet was discarded. "I'll be a minute," he says as he leaves the room.
Halisi shakes her head. "Not good... I was hoping these cultists would be the source... but it doesn't look like that's the case, does it?" (Vasquez)
No... it doesn't. But that doesn't change anything, either. This technology-... whatever it is, is far too dangerous. It needs to be destroyed.
Damien heads down the corridor, reaching where his helmet was dropped. He crouches down and examines it, tisking at the left damaged visor. The right is still intact at least. He pulls the helmet on and seals it, curiously looking down the corridor where the artefact was.
Jason lowers his voice and moves closer to the doctor. "I... I heard things, doc. When I was close to it." he says, his voice somewhat trembling, "How is that possible? It was-... in my head..."
Halisi looks at Jason with an indicipherable stare. "I'll examine you after we're done here. Alright? Try to figure it out. I'm sure there's an answer." (Vasquez)
Jason looks to the ground and gives a short, almost unnoticeable nod. "We shouldn't stay here any longer than we have to. I-... it didn't feel right, doc." he says, "It didn't feel right at all..." He doesn't await a response before heading out the door.
Halisi looks after Jason with a strange look - concern, confusion or curiosity - it is hard to tell. She glances back at the hologram before following. (Vasquez)
Ilyna starts walking down the hallway, but stops as she reaches the first door on her right. She takes cover beside it and waits for the others.
Fatsani takes up position behind Ilyna, not wanting to press against the other door next to it. (Vasquez)
Damien makes his way back down to the others, looking at Jason behind his helm. "You alright, boss?"
Jason gives a smirk from behind his helmet and nods. "Walking on sunshine." he says as he sets off down the hall.
Ilyna hits the interface when most of her team has taken cover and (if the door opens) leans in, aiming her weapon around.
Jason stacks up on the door next to Bravo's door. "Well, I'll be a whole lot better when we're out of this place." he admits.
Damien draws his Carnifex and stacks up behind Jason, nudging him with his elbow to confirm he's ready. "Won't we all."
Vaden joins Leah in looking at the door. "Have a feeling I will not like what is on the other side." (Vasquez)
Jason lowers his Revenant and moves to swap spots with Damien. "See if you can get it open." he says, "You know.... Do your thing."
Damien nods and holsters his pistol as he starts fiddling with the interface, switching back and forth between his omni-tool and the panel. "And this time, you can have a creature attack you first," he says, half-joking.
Halisi moves up to stand next to Leah. "You walked away before I could apply a medigel coating." She holds up a canister of medigel. (Vasquez)
Leah frowns at Halisi and sighs loudly. "Make it quick." she says, still obviously upset over the news Halisi delivered.
Jason lowers his head. "Hopefully he's alright..." he mutters. "If it's not opening, let's keep moving. If we can't get in, chances are they can't get out, right?"
Damien activates his omni-blade and thrusts it into the panel. "Now nothing will definitely be getting in or out," he growls.
Halisi starts to carefully apply a layer of medigel over Leah's injury. She stows the canister away once she is done. "That will numb the pain, and keep it clean until we get back." (Vasquez)
Jason watches Damien's outburst with a bit of amusement and gives a shrug of his shoulders. "Alright, next door." he says as he moves beside the final door on the right-hand side of the hall.
Leah moves forward a bit, matching Jason's movements. "Yeah.. Thanks." she says dismissively once the doctor finishes.
The door opens to another tiny room, this one containing a single, withered husk which stumbles towards Damien and Jason. (Vasquez)
Jason raises his Revenant, but pauses when Damien fires at it. For a moment, he almost feels sorry for the thing.
Jason gives a quick glance around the small room before moving to the supa-ominous-deadly-doom-Sacrarium door. "Alright, people... I somehow doubt whatever is on the otherside of this door is going to give us a warm greeting... If we're swarmed, we pull back to the reception where we can make a stand without getting in each other's line-of-fire."
Damien nods, awkwardly reloading his hand cannon. "There can't be that many creatures left, right?" He asks.
Fatsani presses up against the left-side wall, going down on one knee and aiming her shotgun at the door. (Vasquez)
Ilyna prepares her biotics, but she remains where she's standing outside the southernmost small room.
Jason sighs at Damien's question. "No telling, Monroe. Guess we'll find out." He reaches out slowly towards the panel, giving one more glance at the others before slamming a hand into the panel and raising his Revenant.
The door lets out a clank and a groan before sliding open. The team is immediately greeted with a hail of gunfire from an antiquated machinegun mounted on a crate and manned by a cultist. Another one, also in cover behind a crate, opens fire with his Avenger while yelling out: "You have slaughtered the Revelator's children! You will DIE for your ignorance!" (Vasquez)
Jason 's eyes go wide as gunfire begins flooding the hall. His shields take a few hits as he presses himself against the wall. He reaches down towards his grenade belt. "That so?" he calls out loudly, "Do you freaks even realize how batshit-insane you sound? The Revelator? Really!?"
Ilyna quickly enters the empty room and takes cover just inside. Her shields make quick work of any bullets that were headed her way.
Leah squeezes off a couple of rounds before hurling herself into the nearest of the small, open rooms.
Fatsani fires off a slug at one of the cultists before being forced to press herself against the wall as her shields go down. (Vasquez)
Damien stumbles backwards into the same room as Leah, firing off a round at the door. He scoots further in, his shields soaking up any bullets that may have hit him.
Jattic grunts loudly and steps right into the line of fire as he squeezes the trigger of his Firestorm, sending a wave of flame at the cultists as machinegun rounds riddle his shields.
Philip 's kinetic barrier goes down almost immediately and he catches a round in the chest, causing him to collapse face-first into the floor. (Vasquez)
Ilyna looks out of cover and notices Philip falling over. She makes her way over to his position and puts up a biotic barrier to make sure he doesn't catch more fire.
Damien peers around the corner and spots the fallen lad. Using Ilyna's cover, he holsters his weapon and sprints over to him. He grabs the kid by the collar and makes to drag him back to the room Leah has taken cover in.
The cultist manning the machinegun keeps firing as he is set ablaze by Jattic's flamethrower. He screams: "We will reap infinite gratitude when They arrive, and you will know only OBLIVION!" He continues to cry out, but nothing coherent can be made out as he is cooked inside his armor, machinegun firing up at the ceiling and then not at all as his limbs crumble. (Vasquez)
Jattic 's shields take the brunt of the shots, but eventually fizzle out. His hardsuit does a good job of plinking the old rounds away as the machinegunner cooks. Once the gunner is down, Jattic return to cover against the wall behind Jason.
Halisi crosses the hallway to help Damien drag Philip to cover, Ilyna's barrier being the only thing keeping her from getting gunned down after her shields go out. (Vasquez)
Jason points towards Philip as he goes down. "Halisi! Take care of the kid!" he orders, "We're not losing anyone today, you hear me?" Now that Jattic has handled the gunner, he decides against the grenade and simply crouches, swings out, and begins laying down Revenant fire at the remaining cultist.
The cultist drops into cover, and a moment later a grenade comes flying over the crate, skittering along the floor into the corridor. (Vasquez)
Halisi turns Philip over once they're out of harm's way, and starts scanning him with her omni-tool. (Vasquez)
Ilyna is about to drop her barrier once they've gotten Philip out of the fray, but then she notices the grenade and holds it up a little longer.
Fatsani curses and jumps into the room with the cultist - the only direction she has any chance of escaping in. (Vasquez)
Damien draws his pistol and turns to look down the corridor. "Grenade!" He moves back in and crouches just in front of the door, using himself to shield the other three from the blast.
Jason cusses loudly and drops to a knee, planting his head against the wall and hoping to mitigate as much damage as he can.
Leah 's eyes go wide as she spots the grenade. Glowing with biotic energy, she sprints forward and leaps over Damien, out of the small room, and drops to slide on her knees, hoping to dodge any incoming gunfire. Her initial plan to toss the grenade back is derailed as Fatsani moves into the room. Instead, all she has time to do is sloppily hurl the grenade back behind the group, into the south of the hall.
The grenade flies off along the floor, going down the hall some distance before detonating, sending metal fragments flying at anyone still in the corridor. (Vasquez)
Vaden 's eyes go wide as he realizes what's going on. He aims his omni-tool at Leah, who is closest to the explosion, and pours as much power as he can into boosting her shields. (Vasquez)
Ilyna doesn't pour too much into bracing the barrier against the barrage of fragments, but none of them hits her. She lefts go off the barrier, and starts approaching the Sacrarium-door, aiming her weapon towards it.
Leah is immediately floored by the blast. Her entire body snaps backwards and she covers her head, slamming hard against the floor as shrapnel barrages her shields. With Vaden's help, her shields manage to deflect a large chunk of the incoming projectiles, but a few manage to get through. A couple are embedded in her hardsuit's chestplate harmlessly, one manages to slip between the plates of the armor on her left arm and easily
Jattic stomps towards the crate with his Firestorm in hand, waiting for the cultist to rise from cover. "Come out you coward! I've got some gratitude of my own to show you!"
Halisi winces from the explosion, but does her best to focus on Philip. She removes his armored vest and opens the jumpsuit. She then checks his back to make sure there's an exit wound before starting to apply medigel to stop the bloodloss - her forearms are covered in his blood, which has soaked his clothes as well. (Vasquez)
Jason manages to avoid any real damage as Leah caught most of the shrapnel. A few pieces pepper his shields, but they manage to hold.
Vaden reels from the explosion but is unharmed thanks to Leah being in the way, he kneels down next to her, unsure what to do. "Are you okay?" (Vasquez)
Leah grunts loudly and rolls onto her side. She attempts to climb back to her feet, but immediately falls back over. A fair amount of blood runs from her arm. "Yeah... I'll be fine." she groans.
Damien lifts himself from the ground. He moves out into the corridor and kneels beside Leah. "Bullshit," he states, grabbing her by the collar. He begins to pull her into the small room where Halisi is working.
Jattic won't be knocked to the ground by a puny human! He releases his Firestorm, allowing it to fall to the ground, and grabs the cultist by the throat as they struggle for positioning. He reaches back with his right hand and it glows bright orange as a gauntlet encases his entire forearm and he attempts to slam it into his attacker with a loud roar.
Leah gives a loud groan as she's dragged across the floor by Damien. "Shit... Not so rough, hero." she jokes, but a pained cough quickly follows.
Damien squeezes her into the room. "Got another for you, doc," he says. He looks at Leah and places a hand on her shoulder. "Me? Hero? Says you for jumping at a grenade."
Halisi doesn't even look up at Damien as he pulls Leah into the already crowded room. She's busy readying an injector. (Vasquez)
Leah chuckles a bit, but winces as a sharp pain shoots through her body. "....Didn't quite go as planned..."
Jattic stares at his work with a satisfied grin for a moment before pushing the body away. "Clear!" he announces as he collects his Firestorm from the floor.
Damien shakes his head. "No, it didn't," he admits. "Try to stay alive. Still owe you a drink, darlin'."
The room is notably different from the others, with rock walls instead of concrete. Aside from the crates there are a pair of simple cots and an electric stove that are clearly far more recent than anything else in the facility. There is a single round door to the right. (Vasquez)
Jattic kicks the stove out of anger as he looks around the room. He then makes his way over to the crates and begins ripping them open.
Ilyna nods. "We have two injured: Leah and Lacour," she says. "We'll hold this position while Halisi tends to them."
Jason slowly stands back up and looks around. Satisfied that they're safe, he hurries into the doorway to the small room. "Report, Halisi.... How bad?"
Leah glances up at Damien with a bit of a smirk, "Well, shit... Not I can't die, can I? Never been one to pass up free booze."
Halisi injects the substance into Philip and then turns to Leah, starting to scan her to see how much damage the shard caused to her arm. "The bullet went through Philip, missed vital organs. I can keep him alive until we get back to the ship. After that... we'll see." (Vasquez)
Damien chuckles and moves out of the doc's way, squeezing past Jason. "Glad your priorities are straight."
What does that mean? We're stranded down here, Halisi. With the elevator down, we're gonna need an alternative route out. Is he going to be able to handle it?
Leah seems to be alright. A few bumps and bruises, as well as a concussion, but no broken bones. The shrapnel in her arm is causing a bit of bloodloss, though.
Halisi curses under her breath and goes back on comms. "He's out, Jason. He'll have to be carried." She looks apologetically at Leah before janking the fragment out and immediately starting to apply medigel to seal and disinfect. (Vasquez)
Halisi winces. "Sorry." She finishes applying the medigel and then gets back on the comms. "Jason, I don't think that's a good idea. We shouldn't move him more than we have to, and if there's a firefight... I can stay here and keep him stable while you clear the rest of the facility." (Vasquez)
Jattic mutters something under his breath before holstering his weapon and returning to Jason. He overhears Halisi once he arrives and lets out a frustrated sigh. "Am I carrying the kid or not?" he asks, "Make up your damn mind."
Jason gives Jattic a dirty look. "If she says we can't move him, then we're not moving him. Stay here and make sure they're safe." He glances over at Halisi, "You do everything you can to give him as much of a chance as possible... He's a good kid. I don't want him dying here."
Jattic gives something of a shrug. "Whatever you say. Hurry up." He stands just outside of the small room.
Leah presses a hand against the wall and slowly climbs to her feet. "Good as new..." she grunts as she steps out of the room. She grabs her Mattock and starts towards the new room, moving a bit slower than usual.
Jason remains behind for a few moments longer. "You get spooked for any reason, let me know, alright doc? We'll be back as soon as we can."
Ilyna steps out of the sacrarium-room, listening in on the conversation. "Are we sure we should just leave the two of them here?" she asks. "They could come here while we're looking for the second artifact."
Jason turns back to Ilyna as she approaches. "We don't have many other choices right now. Jattic can stay behind and protect them... But we can't move the kid in his condition. We can't all just sit here and wait, you know? Regardless of whether we find this second artifact or not, we're still gonna need to find a way out or Philip has no chance of making it..."
Ilyna frowns. "Fair enough," she says, turning back and making her way inside again. "Let's make this quick, then."
Jason gives a nod. "If you're not opposed to losing another, we could leave Fatsani behind, too. The rest of us stick together. That work better for you?" he asks as he follows behind the asari.
Fatsani looks questioningly at Jason. "Sir? Are you sure? The priority should be the artifact." (Vasquez)
Jason gives a stern nod. "The priority is to keep my people alive. We'll get the artifact. But I'm not sacrificing lives for it. Stick with Jattic. Make sure nothing happens to Halisi or Philip."
Fatsani looks at Jason for a while and then moves off to the corridor without saying anything. (Vasquez)
Jattic gives a snort as he spots Fatsani returning to the hall. "Welcome to babysitting duty." he grunts.
Jason glances over at the rest of the group. "Alright... Let's get moving. Keep your eyes peeled for a way out." he says as he moves over to the door.
Leah is seeming a bit worn out by this point, but she takes a position near the door, gripping her Mattock in both hands.
Ilyna nods, and raises her weapon half-way as she remains a few meters away from the door. She charges up her biotics, as well.
Jason looks over the door for a moment before reaching out to tap the interface. He readies his Revenant.
The door opens into a round tunnel that descends deeper underground - at the end is another door. (Vasquez)
Jason begins marching down the tunnel, weapon at the ready. "Tunnels. Halls. Doors. Tunnels. Halls. Doors." he sighs. He stops near the fresh door.
Leah follows behind and takes a knee at the bottom of the tunnel, keeping her weapon trained on the door.
The door opens up into another room carved out of rock. It is damp, with puddles of water on the floor. There is one door to each side. In the center of the room stands a single cultist who is aiming a grenade launcher straight at Jason. He seems about to fire when the door to the right flies out of its frame a loud bang, crushing the cultist against the opposite wall. A battered but familiar krogan ends up in the middle of the room where (Vasquez)
Jattic seems to get a bit antsy at Fatsani's movement and follows suit, assuming she must've seen something. He steps away from the door and glances to the south.
Jattic seems to liven up a bit. "Thought you heard something, or heard something? This is no time to 'think', human. Know."
