#Susanna – April 1, 2015
Another day has passed since the MSV Susanna left the Di Yu system. Leah has been kept even longer in the infirmary, but she should be waking up any moment. The rescued people from New Longhai have been quiet, except for a certain snorer. Things are still tense with the crew of the ship, and the children have shown no further inclination towards socialization. (Halisi)
Damien declares to whomever is in the bunk room. He stares up at the bunk, eyes just as sunken as before.
Jasper gives a chuckle. He's laying in his bunk reading over a datapad. "Maybe you oughtta get some sleepin' pills or somethin'. Knock ya right out."
Tarlon is pacing restlessly around the bunk room. Forced inactivity does not sit well with hyperactive salarians.
Halisi is standing by Leah's bed, more or less wating for her to wake up. She's reading on a datapad. (Halisi)
Ilyna has checked on the children every few waking hours to see that they're faring well enough -- everything considered. She is currently in her bunk, but doesn't pay attention to what's going on around her in the room.
Jason is laying on his side watching Tarlon pace. He's done so quietly for some time. "You keep pacing like that and you're eventually going to wear a hole through the floor, Tarlon." he teases.
Leah shifts a bit. Her eyes slowly open as she lets out a low moan. "Doc...?" she asks as her eyes adjust to the light.
Halisi gently puts a hand on Leah's shoulder, half to comfort her and half to keep her lying down. "You're back on the ship. We're on our way home."
Leah struggles against Halisi's hand for a moment, attempting to sit up, but quickly calms down. "I-.... We made it...?" she says with a sigh of relief, "Is everyone okay?"
Oh, why thank you, Jasper! Yes, why hasn't that thought crossed my mind in the two fucking days that I've confined to this fucking bed!
Jasper gives another chuckle. "Ain't you a testy one today? It's alright, I get it. Don't none of us like bein' cooped up in here after what we been through. Just gotta make the best of it."
Yes, yes. Know all that. Concerned with events. Everything gone all wrong, cannot help dwelling on it. Trying to work it out.
Halisi sighs faintly. "Vaden, Fatsani and Bayani are dead. Vasquez is... missing. The others are all here. I-... there's something you need to know."
Jasper sits up a bit and leans out from his bed, glancing up at Jattic's bunk. "Give 'im some a' that good stuff, Jatty." he says with a smile.
Philip seems rather entertained by Tarlon's pacing, which is what he focuses on at the moment. (Halisi)
Leah closes her eyes for a moment before opening them with a sigh. "Alright, doctor... What's the bad news you seem to want to drop in my lap?"
Tarlon does not seem to notice, simply walking back and forth, tapping his fingers together and muttering to himself.
Jattic grunts and shakes his head. "I'm merely holding on to it so you don't hurt yourself, you crazy old fool. This disgusting concotion is going to make someone blind."
Jasper frowns and pulls his head back into his bunk. "He's just jealous. Go 'head, Monroe. Pretty sure he's keepin' it in his locker. Just a lil' somethin' I whipped together. 'll put hair on 'yer chest."
Damien waves at his himself, frowning. "Um, Jasper. Rib. Sitting up. Big no no," he says, smirking slightly.
Jason shifts a bit on his bed. "Got a lot of work to do when we get back to Aite. Gonna need to set up some contracts quick to pay for all the injuries... Not to mention what we're going to need to follow-up on everything..."
Also, considerably funds poured into this venture, and definitely no pay-off except possibly finder's fee for rescued children. Could be problematic.
Jasper sets his datapad down on his bed and hops out. "Calm down, Jatty! Don't nobody want your weird collection of elcor porn!" he says as he opens Jattic's locker and begins to rustle through his things.
Elcor porn uncommon, not effective without pheromones, hence vids provide little stimulus for elcor customers.
Ilyna frowns. "I'll do what I can to help, Jason," she says, "but I don't really have any experience negotiating contracts."
Leah stares blankly at Halisi for a short while. "Wait.... You mean until we get back, right?" she asks.
Jasper finally pulls a small flask from Jattic's locker. "I'unno much 'bout elcor porn, Tarlon. You'd have to talk to him 'bout all that." he chuckles as he extends the flask towards Monroe.
I-... there are some options. Mainly cybernetic. You'd need to go to the Earth, or the Citadel. Expensive procedures. Are... you a Council Space citizen?
Damien halts his thinking and takes the flask. He eyes it dubiously as he uncorks the top. "What is it exactly?"
Philip recoils slightly at the idea of elcor pornography. "Ew... how does that-... do they... urgh..." (Halisi)
Jasper perks up considerably at Damien's interest. "Well! Funny you should ask! It's my own personal-...." he begins before being sharply cut off by Jattic.
Damien wets his lips and sighs. "I never could- poop," he deadpans. "I want to stand up without shitting myself, thanks." He puts the cap back on.
Leah grunts loudly. "Oh, sure! I'll just walk over there and talk to him right fucking now!" she groans, "There has to be something you can do! This is my career! My life!"
Tarlon pulls out his Omni-tool and taps around on it for a while, then shows Philip a picture of two elcor going at it. Well, possibly. They could also simply be having a piggyback ride. It's a little hard to tell if one doesn't know anything about how elcor sex works.
Damien places the canteen down by his bed and takes a deep breath. "I need a shower. Otherwise I'm going to ferment at this rate," he says as he inches his way to the edge of his bed.
The fermentation proccess is pretty spectacular! Stop by my workshop when we get back home, I'll let ya sample a few of my other brews."
Halisi reaches for Leah's hand in an attempt to calm her down. "Leah, please... if there was anything I could do I would, trust me. This is beyond me."
Philip looks at the picture with a mix of disgust and fascination. "Oh god, it's... and is that the-... and the-... what-... why do you have this?!" (Halisi)
Damien chuckles. "Okay, I'll humour you," he says as he slowly shifts his legs to the edge. He slowly places them down, still laid on his back. "Okay. Okay. One... Two...".
Jasper reaches down and grabs his flask. He unscrews the lid and dumps a hefty amount into his mouth. "Mmmmm, nectar of the Gods!"
Mendez is in the cargo hold. His gear is set out on top of a crate and he's meticulously cleaning each piece.
Tarlon sniffs. "First of all. Cloaca, not cloaker. Secondly, not sensitive to that kind of stimulus. Only likely to injure myself."
Damien is still holding on three. He's rather unsure of whether to do it or- "Fuck it, three!" He grabs hold of the edge of the bunk above him and lifts himself into a standing position, a pained grimace crossing his features. "Ow."
Jasper quickly reaches out with an arm and wraps it around Damien's waist. "Whoa there! Don't wanna go hurtin' yerself. I'll lend ya a hand. Don't expect me to wash 'yer back, though."
Tarlon sighs in exasperation. "Wonder how you would like it if I made up unflattering nicknames for your sexual organs."
Damien grunts through gritted teeth. "Appreciated. Lemme just grab my towel". He wobbles uncertainly to his locker, his legs readjusting after two days of minimal activity.
Leah continues to stare at Halisi. "This is bullshit. Are you telling me I have no options right now? Just... lay in this fucking bed? I may as well have died on that planet."
Jasper raises his flask to his lips once more as he continues alongside Monroe, supporting him with his other arm. "You takin' anything 'fer the pain?"
Damien hobbles out of the bunk room and turns towards the showers, shrugging. "Not really. S'pose I should but...". He trails off, rubbing an eye.
Halisi blinks. "You're alive. That's a good thing. You can still have a good life, and maybe even have this fixed. Maybe... maybe you'd like to talk to some of the others? Jason?"
Leah scoffs loudly. "Good? You call this good? That's easy for you to say. You can feel your legs. No, I don't want to talk to Jason. I'd like to talk to a doctor who can do her fucking job!" she shouts. She seems to instantly regret her outburst, her eyes softening a little.
Halisi withdraws from Leah, taking a step back. She looks saddened more than anything else. "I-... if you want to be alone, I can leave."
Leah doesn't answer for a few moments, instead she simply stares up at the ceiling. "Do whatever you want..." she says, sounding utterly defeated.
Jasper continues towards the showers. "Might wanna get on that. No point in feelin' like shit if you don't havta, right?"
Jasper pulls his arm back. "Well, you need a hand gettin' 'round when 'yer done in there, just give a holler." he offers.
Water mixed with blood and flourescent blue liquid covers the plastic floor of the hygiene module. One of the rescued inhabitants of New Longhai sits slumped under a still-running shower. He is sickly pale. (Halisi)
SickPatron stirs from Damien's yelling, stumbling to his feet. "H-... help..." He whispers in a coarse voice. (Halisi)
Damien activates his omni-blade and slowly approaches the man, his heart racing. "I'm going to wake up... I'm going to wake up and I'm going to devote my life to the Lord...".
SickPatron stumbles towards Damien. "P-Please... help... doctor...". He coughs, a mixture of blood and blue goo running down his chin and dripping on the floor. The wet hair covers most of his face. (Halisi)
Damien recoils back, indecision crossing his features. "I- I don't- you're infected...". He raises his arm into a striking position... And then lowers it. He deactivates his blade and turns out of the showers. "Stay here!" He jogs down the hall, through the cargo bay and towards the infirmary. He slams his hand into the control panel, barreling through the door. "DOC!"
Mendez glances at Damien's random jog through the ship. He shrugs and goes back to cleaning his armor.
Halisi , who is still in a rather somber mood from the conversation with Leah is caught off guard by Damien, jumping slightly. "What?!" (Halisi)
The showers! Someone's infected, spitting blue shit everywhere and- and- fuck just get fucking moving!!
Halisi 's eyes go wide as she grabs her medical satchel, shoving some random crap into it and following after Damien.
Leah begins to panic, being left alone without any real explanation. "Wha-.... What's going on!?" she calls out after them.
The sickly man is nowhere to be seen in the showers. There is a scream of pain from the bridge and a moment later the ship violently drops out of FTL, causing the ship to jerk to the side and likely slamming everyone to the floor. (Halisi)
Ilyna quickly gets out of her bunk after almost falling out of it and digs through her bag after her pistol.
Jason is tossed from his bunk... Seeing as he had the top bunk, the considerable drop was quite painful. He lets out a loud, pained groan as all the wind is knocked from him. "Fuck!"
Damien is sent crashing into the wall, his freshly healed rib snapping again under the impact. He screams in pain and collapses into the blue goop, blackness creeping at the edges of his vision as pain and lack of sleep finally catch up to him.
Jattic manages to keep from faceplanting out of his bed by grabbing on to the side on his way down, lessening the impact a bit.
Jasper is hurled to the ground, causing his stinky brew to splash all over the place. "Oh, balls!" he calls out.
Garr falls sideways in the middle of a push-up and grunts irritably. "What kinda crappy pilot are ya!"
Leah is slung off her bed and onto the floor. She lets out a loud howl as pain shoots through her body.
Jason slowly begins to push himself back up with his one arm as pain surges through his shoulder. "What the fuck is going on up there? That's not normal..."
Ilyna finds her pistol and amp after a bit of rummaging. "I'm going to find out," she says, slotting in the amp. "I'll report back." She starts walking out of the room, pistol in hand but aimed down.
The lights of the ship cut out rather suddenly, reducing the rooms to blackness. The Susanna's generator can be heard winding down as gravity starts to fail. The door interfaces shut down with the rest of the power. (Halisi)
Mendez calls out down the hall as he sees Ilyna exit the passenger's module. "What the hell is going on!?" he shouts just as the lights all go out.
The furniture in the passenger module as well as all the rather large cargo crates in the cargo hold start to float. Same with the chair, medical bed and various medicines in the infirmary. (Halisi)
Leah wills herself to stand up. Urges herself up. For a moment, her eyes go wide as her body begins to lift upright. It's not long before she realizes it's a lack of gravity and panic begins to set in once more.
Ilyna enables her omni-tool followed by its flashlight coming to light. "I hope it's not what I think it is," she says. "Be ready." The lack of gravity catches her off-guard as she begins to float, as well.
Damien slowly starts rising, the sudden lack of gravity causing his stomach to lurch and forcing him awake. And gloop surrounds him as it floats up. Crap. As he reaches the ceiling, he pushes off of it and towards the door.
A jumbled mess of cargo crates are in Garr's way, some of them big enough to crush even a krogan. (Halisi)
The cargo crates are pushed, causing them to pin Mendez against the wall. Some of the open crates are starting to spill their spare-part contents into the pitch-black room. (Halisi)
Damien grabs the door frame and grimaces, activating his omni-tool. The dull light illuminates the door frame. "Where the fuck is emergency power?"
Mendez hits his head against the wall, causing a sharp pain, but he puts a hand up and pushes the crate away as well. "Can't see a fucking thing!" he grunts.
Halisi 's foot got caught in the door to the showers, causing it to remain slightly open. As she comes to she does her best to hold them open wide enough for Damien to get through.
Jason begins waving his arms once the gravity goes, as if to keep his balance. "What happened to the gravity!?" he groans.
Jattic holds on to the side of his bunk and reaches out to assist Jasper. "This isn't right. Something must be wrong with the ship."
Damien pulls himself through the door and he growls angrily. "I was going to kill him. Against my better judgement, I didn't. And now this." He pushes himself from wall to wall, as he drifts towards the bridge.
Ilyna looks towards Halisi, aiming the flaslight onto the roof to illuminate the room slightly. "What's going on?" she asks.
Mendez begins to assist Garr in moving crates out of the way, blindly feeling around with his hands. He's somewhat confused as to his actual location, however, given the sudden lack of gravity.
Ilyna glances towards the pilot compartment with widened eyes. "Goddess," she says. "How many?" She uses a biotic field to keep herself upright, hovering slightly above the floor.
Garr starts shoving crates out of his path, growling a myriad of painful techniques that he'll inflict upon the pilot once he gets out of the room.
Jason grabs his bunk's frame and pulls himself upward. He looks around the room for his Phalanx which was sitting in his bed. "Can anyone get that door open?"
Ilyna starts floating towards the door to the passenger compartment and looks around for a way to get it open. Not being a tech, that is likely fruitless.
Damien pushes himself towards the bridge door, using his omni-tool to cast light down the dark corridor.
Jason cusses loudly and pushes off the bedpost towards the door. With his good arm, he begins hammering against it. "We're locked in!" he shouts.
Jattic grunts and begins to push himself over towards the door. Once beside Jason, he begins looking for somewhere to slip his hand into to begin prying it open.
Innkeeper yells out "What the fuck is going on?! Haven't we had enough trouble?!" as he floats around in the dark. (Halisi)
Jasper is clutching to his bunk for dear life. "Seems like we lost power. Knocked the gravity generator offline. If you can get me down there, I should be able to patch 'er up!"
Ilyna backs off from the door and enables her comms. "We're stuck in the hall outside the passenger room. What's the status in the rest of the ship?"
Halisi joins Damien by the bridge door. There are muffled sounds of struggle from the other side. (Halisi)
Mendez grumbles loudly, as he can hear his comms going off, but has no idea where they are. He resorts to simply shouting loudly. "Fucked! We're locked in the cargo bay!"
Damien examines the door panel with his omni-tool, seeing if there is a way to reroute power from an auxiliary system if any are active.
The auxiliary systems seem to be offline as well - at least anything that can be accessed wirelessly. (Halisi)
Damien sighs. "Try and keep me steady, doc. I'm going to have to open this the old fashioned way," he states.
Athorus is floating around the cargo hold, having been knocked out by the sudden drop from FTL. (Halisi)
Leah can hear clunky movement in the corridor outside. A moment later a loud metallic clunk reverberates throughout the ship - and the cargo hold detatches from the spine of the freighter, slowly drifting apart from the rest of the ship as they both tumble through space. (Halisi)
Leah grabs ahold of the bed and pushes off towards the door. She begins desperately attempting to peel the door open. "Can anyone hear me!?" she shouts.
Damien pales at the sound. "Oh no." He frantically starts trying to open the door, pulling off the panel and fiddling with the internal components.
The wiring behind the panel is pretty standard-issue. All without power of course. If only a certain deceased salarian was there... (Halisi)
Jasper goes quiet for a few moments as he listens to the rumbling.. "I.... I think they just spaced the cargo hold...."
Damien growls and activates his omni-blade. He inches towards the door and tries to plunge the blade right into the locking system of the door, his actions becoming increasingly desperate.
Halisi starts floating her way down the corridor towards the door to the cargo hold, stopping as she looks to the glass, barely able to discern the other end of the ship in the darkness of interstellar space.
SleepyPatron stirs from his sleep only to realize he is a float. "Wh-.. fuck! What the fuck!" (Halisi)
Ilyna looks down before she starts to float towards Damien's position, using a biotic field to move.
From the glass windows in the cargo hold stars can be seen rolling around the module - or rather the other way around. (Halisi)
Damien deactivates his omni-blade and pounds his fist against the door uselessly, tears pricking at his eyes. "This is my fault... Open the door..." He whispers.
Ilyna stops 2 meters short of Damien's position. "I could try a biotic field," she says, "but... even if it works, it could harm vital equipment on the other side."
Leah begins floating around the infirmary, attempting to find something to pry the door open with. She has no idea that the cargo hold is detatched.
Damien floats, gripping onto the door frame. "Maybe... Maybe I could rig an omni-tool into the door panel... Use it as a temporary power source," he says, clutching at straws.
Damien floats back to the control panel and gets to work. He links his omni-tool in with the door and primes it together. He mutters a silent prayer and activates his omni-tool.
The bridge door's holographic panel comes to life with a hum, casting a green glow over the corridor. (Halisi)
Damien laughs in triumph. "Get ready!" He calls to Ilyna. He presses the panel and prepares himself, now utterly defenceless as his omni-tool is used to power the door.
Ilyna raises her weapon on the door as it's about to open, but her biotics is busy keeping her upright.
The sickly man from earlier is floating over the body of Captain Kleiner, and turns towards Damien as the door opens - his jaw is now dislodged, with several familiar metal tubings having emerged from it. He speaks in a distorted, metallic tone: "I hear it... I hear it..." (Halisi)
There is little to find in the darkness of the infirmary - except some floating pills and a medi-gel canister. (Halisi)
Damien glares at the man, murder in his eyes. "Soon you won't. Ilyna!" He moves himself from the line of fire.
Ilyna shines her flashlight on the creature, and after identifying it, fires off 6 shots towards it with her Phalanx.
Leah cusses loudly and moves back by the door. She focuses as much energy into her biotics as she can, and begins trying to jerk the door open.
The majority of the shots strike the chest of the sickly man, one of them bursting a newly formed blue blister on his arm, and another grazing his head. He starts coughing uncontrollably and suddenly fires off a biotic throw down the corridor. "WE DID NOT ESCAPE!" (Halisi)
Between the drugs in her system and the fact that her amp was removed, Leah's biotics amount to underwhelmingly little. The door is unaffected. (Halisi)
Ilyna manages to refocus her biotics to block the throw, leaving her disoriented for a few seconds. After she regains a sense of up and down, she aims more carefully at the creature, and fires off the remaining 6 shots in her clip.
The infected man pushes forward through the first few shots, but a lethal hit is soon achieved, spreading blobs of blue goo through the air of the bridge - a few slowly floating into the corridor. (Halisi)
More blobs fly into the air as the infected body is pushed aside - Damien cannot stay on the bridge for long if he wishes to stay healthy. The command console is powerless. (Halisi)
Ilyna points her flashlight around. "Halisi?" she asks, glancing over her shoulder. "How harmful is the blue liquid leaking from him?"
Damien attempts the same trick with his omni-tool as he did with the door. Beads of sweat appear on his forehead, only to be carried off by the weightlessness of his surroundings.
Halisi has just managed to make her way back to their end of the corridor. "Damien! Get away from there, you'll be infected!"
Ilyna recharges her biotics, and looks towards Damien. "Do what you did on the other door," she says. "We'll get someone with full armor to come back for the controls."
Damien curses loudly and disconnects, pushing himself away. He heads towards the indicated door by Ilyna and repeats the process.
The control panel for the passenger module comes alive, illuminating both the room and the corridor! (Halisi)
Jason holds onto the doorframe and breathes a sigh of relief as Damien's face comes into view. "The fuck happened!?"
Ilyna biotically floats over to the doorway. "Quick, someone put on armor," she says. "Halisi said the liquid in the pilot's compartment is dangerous."
Ilyna sighs. "We'll have to find out," she says, before diving into the room and moving towards her bunk to at least get another clip for her pistol. She keeps her flashlight aimed on the floor not to blind anyone else.
Philip seems to be in a panic - he's never been weightless before. He's yelling incoherently to himself. (Halisi)
Ilyna reaches her bunk. "Mine is still intact, but I don't know anything about ship... or any other tech for that matter," she says, reaching for her bag and pulling it towards her. "I think I can follow instructions, though." She disables her flashlight.
Jattic begins putting his gear on. "Quickly. The longer we wait, the further we get from the others!"
Damien moves into the bunk room and towards his locker. He opens it and quickly snatches his pistol from it. He slams the locker shut and nods.
Ilyna takes out a undersuit piece before quickly removing her shirt and replacing it with it before moving on to the next piece. She is hoping that the darkness is privacy, although that is the least of her worries now with all going on.
Leah gives a sigh as the door fails to react, and begins to float around the room, feeling around with her hands, in an attempt at coming across her amp.
Ilyna gets on the rest of the soft suit and starts putting on the bigger pieces of the armor, interrupted by digging for the next one in the bag.
Damien pushes himself back into the corridor and over to the sealed door leading into the blackness of space.
Jattic continues slapping on gear. "You stay here with Jasper, Jason." he hands his omni-tool over to Jasper, "Keep in touch with Ilyna. We'll secure the bridge."
Jason gives a nod. "Shit... Anyone got a sidearm? I can't find my Phalanx, and I can't exactly use my Revenant with one arm..."
Ilyna loses a piece of armor as she's hit, but it clanks against the wall near her, She grabs his arm, using a biotic field to stop both of them from moving. "Don't worry about it," she says. "You should hold onto a bunk."
