Renala doesn't put up any resistance towards Steve's movements, but keep an eye on the doorway in the corner of her eye. "Yeah," she sighs. He'll be able to discern the wounds on closer inspection, there being six scraches in total.
Jasper continues to cross the hangar towards the shuttle. He glances around nervously. "This all went to hell too damn quickly..." he sighs.
Steve reaches down and removes the medi-gel from his hardsuit. "I'll have ya patched up in a second, just stay still." he says, forcing a smile as he begins covering the wounds on her cheek. He keeps glancing towards the door as he works.
Jason nods a couple times upon hearing Jenya. "Let's hope we get it right the first time, then..." he says, looking between their two options.
Maria stops once they reach the shuttle, and shines a light on it. The door is covered in scratch-marks.
Steve stores the cannister and takes a step back. "Should be alright." he says before turning towards the others. "Well... No time like the present, right?"
Beyond the door is a decently sized room with a few chairs and a table that has a few magazines on it. Blood stains the floor and there are a few spent thermal clips as well. The northern wall is riddled with bullet holes. A body in a worker's outfit sits slumped against the west wall. There is a door to the south and another right next to the one the team came from, to the left of it. All doors are unpowered.
Renala nods faintly, and takes a deep breath. "Thanks," she mutters. "I want off this rock before I'm jumped by another one of these things again." She just now first lets her gaze off the door, looking for her helmet.
The remnants of Renala's helmet are spread around her. What is left of the front plate is right next to her, the rest is scattered around, except for neck tubing, which is still attached to the armor.
Jason sighs and takes a step towards the newly opened door. "Room-by-room." he says, "Let's get that power back on." He manages to speak with much more conviction than he actually feels. He stops before entering the door and just stares into the room quietly for a few moments. After a few nods, seemingly to himself, he raises his Revenant and steps into the room.
Jenya enters the room with Jason, her sword at the ready. Her gaze moves from door to door, and then on to the body. Faint hints of biotic energy can be seen swirling around her left hand.
Steve remains beside Renala and gives her another pat on the shoulder. "Let's get movin', Ren." he says before falling in behind Jenya. He takes a position about half way through the room and keeps his SMG raised at the door to the south.
Vaden moves into the room with the others, after a bit of hesitation. He looks at the two doors. "Which one?"
Leah takes a position beside Maria and looks over the scratches. "Too late to worry about that now." she says in response to the older man, "Let's just get this thing ready so we can get out of here."
Jasper nods silently and approaches the shuttle. He activates his omni-tool and attempts to connect to the shuttle and open the doors.
Renala picks the gun up and makes her way over to the door as well. She enables her omni-tool and taps on it, enabling its flashlight function.
Jenya prods the body with the tip of her sword. It falls over to the side. On closer inspection it is riddled with bullet holes - from a low-powered weapon, by the looks of it. "This one is shot."
Jason glances between the two doors and swings his rifle towards the one to the east. "Might as well start here." he sighs. Upon hearing Jenya and Alex' back-and-forth, he chimes in, "Keep an eye open for any survivors, but I wouldn't count on us coming across any more."
Jasper cusses to himself and activates his comms. "Well, we're already at our first roadblock, Jay. The damn thing is locked."
Renala enters the room and walks up to where the other asari and Alex are, but keeps quiet as she shines her light around the room, including the ceiling.
Vaden moves up to the panel and removes it. A couple of seconds pass before the by-now familiar burst of energy signals that the door is about to open - which it does, revealing what appears to be a small storage room. Shelves run along the walls and another shelf to the south blocks the view of the rest of the room. It mostly contains what appears to be bits of maintenance equipment and junk.
Maria slowly spins around to make sure the hangar is still clear, and then refocuses her attention on the shuttle as well. "Maybe it's not so broken after all, huh?"
Jason sweeps his rifle around as he overhears Jasper's transmission, but doesn't respond while busy with the current task. "Clear so far." he announces before sidestepping into the room.
Steve sighs loudly as hears the transmission. "Fuck... I'll take the kid to unlock the shuttle. From the way you're talkin', it sounds like we're operating on borrowed time right now and can't afford to keep movin' back and forth. We'll catch back up to you." he offers. He glances towards Alex, "You can do that, right? Get a door open?"
Renala quickly aims at the door as it opens, her omni-tool's light following her aim. She remains in place, though.
The southern shelf falls towards Jason, various items and boxes of parts tumbling at him along with it. An almost mechanical howl can be heard amidst the chaotic noise of the shelf falling. There is movement in the darkness.
Renala keeps her weapon aimed at the door, her breathing increasing in pace as she takes a step back at the sound of the noise.
Jason wanders through the room as he responds to Jasper, "Gonsalves and Briggs are on their way to get that door open for you. We've got a lot of ground to cover, so send them on their way as soon as they're done." he says as he stalks towards the southern shelf. Suddenly, as the shelf tips in his direction, he puts his hands up in an attempt at catching the shelving unit, dropping his Revenant in the process. The combined weight of the shelf and its contents knocks him onto his back, but he quickly tosses it off of himself and scrambles for his rifle.
Steve looks as if he's about to enter the room to assist, but instead gives Alex a pat on the back. "You heard him, let's make this quick." he says, casting another frantic glance towards the storage room, "They can handle this." he assures Alex and quickly begins his journey back towards the shuttle by returning to the room to the east.
A former miner appears out of the darkness, placing a foot on Jason's chest to pin him down. It is more deformed than the others, with an almost glowing blue growth on the top of the neck that has pushed the shoulder and head out of place. The Londinium Galactic clothing is partially fused with the gray skin. Its right hand and face both have patches of what seems to be metallic skin. It lets out a deep growling noise as it looks down at him, flexible metal tubes starting to slide out of the mouth.
Leah puts her back to the shuttle and flashes her light back and forth, searching for any sign of threats. "Would be nice."
Steve wastes no time crossing the room and exiting through the northern door. "You got this, right?" he asks between breaths with a bit of concern in his voice as he casts a quick glance back towards Alex.
Jason grabs the creatures ankle with his left hand and tries to wrench it off of his chest. He reaches for his Revenant with his right, but quickly abandons that plan of action and, instead, reaches down towards the Phalanx holstered on his thigh.
Alex jogs after Steve, and she nods again. "Yes." She approaches the door, and activates her omni-tool. "I can do this." Alex begins working on the lock immediately.
Vaden aims his omni-tool at the creature and sprays a blast of super-cooled particles, freezing Jason's attacker. Things would probably get rather chilly for him though. The monstrous creature still has its stare locked on him in its frozen state.
Renala just stares at the door, aiming at it with her gun. She isn't making a single movement, though.
The shuttle door is not very easy to unlock - keeping a shuttle from venting in vacuum is rather important after all. It's going to take some work for a beginner tech.
Jason uses the time afforded to him by Vaden's omni-tool attack to pull his Phalanx up and squeeze off a couple of rounds, aiming up at his attacker's chest.
Jasper looks at the pair sheepishly as they arrive. "Guess I didn't think that one through too well, huh?" he asks, "Sorry to drag you folks back here so soon..."
Alex begins chewing on her lip, she continues working on the lock. She ignores Jasper's comment too focused on getting the shuttle unlocked.
Steve glances behind him a few times as they arrive at the shuttle. "Yeah..." he responds, "Let's just get this thing open." He holds his weapon at the ready and feverishly watches behind Alex, "How's it look, Alex?" he asks impatiently.
A noise echoes from the hangar ceiling, and a piece of metal plating comes tumbling down. It nearly hits Maria, who jump aside with a loud "Fuck!".
Steve takes a step back from the falling debris. "Shit..." he shouts and looks towards the ceiling, flashing his light around.
The frozen creature's surface layers shatter, spilling out its contents as it collapses into pieces - an unsavory mix of organs partially converted into metallic tubing, blue goo and various bodily fluids.
A flash of movement would be visible to Steve, but it would soon disappear out of his sight. The clanking noise of something moving against the metal ceiling spreads across the hangar. The lock is not yet open.
Renala stays where she is, her gaze not moving. "Is... it dead?" she asks at the sound of the shattering.
Jason quickly bats the frozen bits away and climbs to his feet. He holsters his Phalanx and lifts his Revenant from the ground. He takes a few steps backwards towards the door he entered from. "Yeah..." he says, his breathing deepened, "Yeah, it's dead." He gives Vaden a nod of appreciation, "Come on, Renala... You gotta keep your head in the game." he pleads, "This situation isn't going to un-fuck itself."
Steve trails the movements with his SMG. "We definitely got something up there..." he whispers, "The fuck could be on the goddamn ceiling!?"
Vaden remains in place for a while, omni-tool still raised, clearly a bit shocked. Eventually he nods a few times, apparently glad to have helped.
Maria aims her flamethrower up at the ceiling, but quickly seems to realise that may not be the best idea, lowering it and sweeping around towards the walls instead.
Renala lowers her weapon as Jason emerges from the door. "Yeah," she says. "It's... just too much. I don't know how to deal with shit like that."
Jasper looks towards Alex, "You can do this." he offers his support, "Just focus." He glances nervously up towards the ceiling.
Hints of movement can be seen along the edges of the hangar, barely visible in the light of the forcefield. It doesn't take long before one of the creatures charge at Leah with great speed.
Jason shakes his head, "For now? With that..." he says, nodding towards the asari's weapon "Later? With a whole lot of alcohol..." he adds, sounding dead serious. He raises his Revenant and returns to where the last attacked appeared from to check for anything he may have missed.
Leah sights in on the creature barreling down on her with a calmness that betrays her real emotions, and squeezes the trigger three times. "Incoming." she announces.
Renala nods, taking a deep breath. "Okay, I'll... try," she says. She holsters her submachine gun and takes out the other one, and loads a clip into it. After that, she starts following Jason, aiming around as she enters the room.
Jason lowers his rifle and returns to the previous room. Without any hesitation, he steps over to the remaining door and stacks up.
The monstrosity coming at Leah is only slowed by her shots, jumping her and slashing with claws at her chest as it growls aggressively. More of the creatures can be seen emerging from the darkness.
Alex becomes frantic while trying to open the door, and curses loudly. "I'm going to break something in a moment if you don't open."
Steve ignores the ceiling as Leah opens fire. He picks another target and fires a three round burst in its direction. "Fuck!"
Leah pulls her weapon up, hoping to drive it between herself and her attacker as a shimmer begins to envelope her.
Vaden kneels down to remove the panel of this door, successfully opening it rather quickly. It opens up to reveal a room with a door to each side and a workstation ahead with a comfortable-looking chair. Projectors for a haptic interface are clearly visible but powerless. A window above the workstation on the southern wall looks out over a large storage, three stories high, full of metal crates stacked on shelves. A crane sits in the ceiling there.
As if on command, the door unlocks and lifts, revealing the interior of the shuttle. The passenger area is empty. The creatures are getting closer - there appears to be about a dozen of them. One falls as Steve's shots burst the blue growths on its head.
Alex jumps out of joy, but the joy is short lived as she remembers what's going on around her. "Guys! The shuttles open!"
Renala leans out of cover to look over the room, the light of her omni-tool's flashlight following her gaze.
Jason steps into the room with his Revenant raised. He gives a quick sweep back and forth for any threats.
Jenya enters alongside Jason. After deciding the room is clear she walks up to the window and looks out at the area outside.
Jasper fires a volley of six rounds in the direction of the creatures before hopping into the shuttle. "Great job, great job!" he says, "Send me the key, let's see if we can get this sucker off the ground!"
Renala waits for the other two to enter before doing so herself. After a quick sweep of it with her flashlight she steps up to the terminal, looking it over.
Alex nods with a grin, "Will do!" She begins typing away on her omni-tool, "Okay, you should be good now!"
Jasper sets his Avenger on one of the seats of the storage compartment and races down the hall towards the cockpit. He pulls up his omni-tool and frantically attempts to pull up the shuttles interface and check the systems.
Leah's attacker is forced away slightly, causing it to start extending its mouth tubes. They writhe and clank against each other as they move closer to her. Jasper would, upon entering the shuttle, be able to see a body sitting in the pilot's seat, resting against the controls - which are covered in blood. His right arm hanging limply from his side, and below it on the floor lies a Predator pistol. He has a single bullet hole on the visible half of his head. A few candy bar wrappers and an empty water bottle lie on the floor as well. The left hand of the body, which is in the man's lap, is still clutching a datapad.
The creature attacking Leah is unaffected. Alex would most likely fall over. The others are closing in fast. Maria takes a few steps towards them and lets out a warcry, fire spewing from her M-451 in a wide arc across the hangar.
Jasper gasps as he spots the dead pilot. "Nothin' personal, buddy." he says as he wrenches the datapad out of the man's hand and pulls his body from the seat.
Alex falls and pulls out her pistol, wondering why she hadn't down that before. Alex shoots at the creature four times.
Renala frowns and turns towards the door they eneterd through with a raised Punisher. "The terminal's no use without power," she reports.
Steve raises his SMG with one hand as he steps forward, carefully avoiding Maria's arc, and lets off another burst of 8 rounds at his next target.
Steve nearly fells another target, but as it is struck by a few shots it lets out an enraged shriek and jumps several meters at Steve. Maria continues to walk closer to the creatures while firing her flamethrower in a wide arc. Several hostiles disappear in the flames to pained howls. The one on top of Leah is struck by a few rounds from Alex, diverting its attention briefly as it lashes out with a claw towards the young human.
When Jasper powers up the shuttle controls sparks fly and the interface stutters for a bit before disappearing completely.
Leah holds her rifle with her left hand and, using Alex' distraction, reaches way back with her right. She strikes out hard with a palmstrike aimed at the creatures chest and unleashes a biotic throw.
Steve reaches out in an attempt to get a hand up under the creature's throat as he braces for impact.
Jason looks slightly panicked as he receives no response. He tries once more. "Report in. Where's the gunfire coming from!?"
The attacker is hurled off Leah, up into the air and then crashes back down to the floor several meters away. It starts to get back on its feet, only briefly disoriented. The one going after Steve has its throat grappled, but comes at him with great force still, stabbing metallic claws at his right shoulder.
Alex yelps as Leah's attacker had managed to scratch Alex's leg, she glares at the thing and shoots it four more times.
Jasper cusses loudly but quickly gets to work. He begins scanning the shuttle with a diagnostic program, hoping to pinpoint exactly what the problem is. "We've got company down here. More of them things!" he reports over comms, "We're handlin' it as best as we can. The shuttle is shot... I'm running diagnostics on it right now."
Steve lets out a pained growl as the claw pierces his shoulder, causing him to release his grip on the creature's throat. He slides his hand up over the creature's face and tries to push it away from himself, attempting to create enough distance to pull his SMG up and fire a shot into the creature's head.
Renala frowns, staring through the doorway out of the room. "We should... go help them," she suggests, trying to build up courage to face these things.
The creature that attacked Leah falls to Alex' gunfire after being tossed away. Steve's adversary takes advantage of the situation as the hand moves to its face. Metal tubings emerge from the mouth with a wretching noise, spilling blue stuff on Steve. They wrap around his arm and begin to apply heavy twisting pressure.
Maria yells out "Shit! as the flames sputter and die. She unscrews the fuel tank and tosses it, reaching for a new one. The remaining creatures are starting to surround her. "Come on... come on..." she mutters.
Jason looks towards the door, considering it for a moment. Finally he shakes his head. "We have to trust that they'll get this under control. If Jasper can't get that thing running, getting word back to the ship is our only hope." he says, "Everyone's only hope." He reaches up to adjust his shoulder pauldron. His gauntleted hand is shaking so violently it's causing a loud sound from the two metal objects clanking against each other. He lifts his rifle up and moves towards the door on the left and looks towards Vaden expectantly.
Vaden nods at Jason and gets to work on the door. It opens soon, revealing a long, narrow hallway to another door. It is empty, but the door at the other end is only half-closed, a broken LOKI mech being stuck in it.
Renala nods and turns towards the door the salarian is opening, keeping her Punisher raised at it even after it's open.
Steve groans loudly as he feels his arm being twisted to its breaking point. He wastes no time pressing the muzzle of his SMG to the creature's face and holds down the trigger, expelling half a dozen rounds.
Leah reshoulders her Mattock and begins sighting in on husks around Maria, sending three rounds at the husk nearest to her.
Jason wastes no time stalking down the hallway. "Eyes open." he says as he spots the damaged mech. He reaches out and grabs the door with his left hand, keeping the Revenant trained on the open gap with his right, and attempts to slide the ajar door the rest of the way open.
Most of Alex' shots miss due to her inconvenient firing position, but one hits, causing the creature to divert its attention and come running towards her. One is struck by a few Mattock rounds, causing a blue growth to burst and the creature to stop for a while. The one on top of Steve presses down with a brief moment of extra pressure before its head is utterly demolished, sending chunks flying into the air. The lifeless corpse remains on top of him.
Renala follows after Jason, staying six feet behind him. She shines her light around the hallway, including the ceiling.
Jenya follows into the tunnel, sheathing her sword as there is not enough space to use it well. The hallway is too small to hide anything.
Maria loads a new fuel tank into her M-451 and in a mad frenzy she starts spraying fire in all directions to keep the monsters at bay. "Come on you bastards! BURN!"
The door slides open with an uncomfortable mechanical grinding noise, revealing another control room identical to the one they were in before - except the window of this one is shattered, with shards of glass all over the floor, along with stains of blue here and there.
Alex swears loudly and sits up, hoping to be a bit more stable in this position. She shoots her two last rounds at the creature running at her, not realizing she's out of ammo.
Jasper activates his comms with panic clear in his voice. "The shuttle's circuitry is fried. This ain't good. I need to see what the extent of the damage is before I can start workin' on fabricating some replacement parts. I recommend you folks work on getting the power back on cuz this ain't gonna be just a matter of slappin' a band-aid on it."
Jason steps into the room. Realizing it's similar to the previous one, he makes no attempt to go further in. He simply gives a quick scan to check for hostiles.
Steve 's arm is snapped like a fucking kit kat bar at the elbow. He lets out a blood curdling scream and skitters backwards, out from under the limp creature. He reaches over with his good arm and instinctively holds his elbow.
Leah quickly lines up her next shot and fires a couple more rounds into the next creature near Maria. She maintains her current position.
The room doesn't appear to have any hostiles, but there are noises coming from the storage area outside the window.
Renala waits for Jason to report back, but grows very uneasy at the sound at the noises. "Goddess," she mutters.
Alex' target is only slowed a bit by the shots, jumping her and digging claws into the back of her helmet, ripping the breathing tubes apart as it tries to yank the helmet off, no doubt rattling her head within.
Maria is still firing wildly at the creatures. It seems more have joined in since the fighting started, because there are far more than there should be surrounding her. Leah manages to take one down with a lucky headshot. "I'm gonna burn every single one of you fuckers! YOU HEAR ME?! DIE!"
The storage chamber is far too large to be lit up by the helmet light, but hints of movement can be seen, and several spilled crates of eezo ore. Swollen, bloated creatures further gone than the ones they've encountered so far can be vaguely distinguished below.
Jason shakes his head and steps back towards the hallway. "It doesn't look good out there..." he sighs as his voice waivers. "We need to get to those generators quickly."
Alex grips her attacker's claws tightly, trying to pull them off of her helmet. She scrambles to find another clip with one hand while the other continues holding the creatures claws. "Son of a bitch!"
Steve slowly climbs back to his feet, letting out a pained grunt as his left arm dangles limply at his side. A biotic shimmer begins to surround him.
Jenya looks out the window, although it is unclear how much she sees since she's not using any flashlight.
Jason nods towards the remaining door once they reach the previous crane control room. "I'm guessing it's another room like this, but we can't afford to not be thorough. Get it open." he says, repeating the familiar process of stacking up on the door.
The creature attacking Alex is briefly stopped from tearing her helmet off, focusing instead on using its free hand to pry the armor plating from her upper arm, tearing holes in the undersuit along with it.
Leah continues to pick off the creatures surrounding Maria, completely oblivious to Alex' situation. She fires off three rounds each at two different creatures.
Vaden gets to work on the door as soon as everyone is back in the room. It slides open, revealing an identical corridor. This one has two bodies in it however, both gray with blue boils. One of them seems to had mechanical joints start to grow in place of its knees and elbows. Neither move.
Renala quickly reaises her weapon at the two creatures as she spots them, finger resting on the trigger (not pulling it) while looking them over.
Jason stares at the creatures for a couple moments before starting down the hallway. "This will happen to all of us if we don't get out of here." he states grimly.
Alex finally makes contact with a clip, and lets go of the creatures hand to attempt to load her pistol.
Alex immediately has a crack torn in her helmet as the creature's other hand is freed. It continues to pull at the helmet and shake her head around while the claws of the other hand dig in to the exposed part of her arm. It growls and stares at her with unnaturally blue eyes that lack life.
Maria is still surrounded despite having spent most of her second fuel tank. There appears to be more of the creatures now than when they started, perhaps drawn by all the commotion. A bit over a dozen surround Maria and a pair are splitting off to go after Leah after being fired upon.
Leah expels the rest of her thermal clip at the splintering pair of creatures and reaches for another thermal clip.
Alex cries out in pain, dropping the pistol despite just now loading it, the pain being too unbearable. She attempts to push the monster off or to at least give her a little bit of space.
Steve marches towards the monster on top of Alex as he hears her cry out. He reaches out with his good arm and tightly squeezes his SMG and jerks it back, attempting to biotically rip the creature off of her.
The monstrosity is pulled away from Alex and slides across the floor all the way to Steve, flailing its arms and legs wildly in a way that probably would've been humurous had the circumstances been different.
Renala nods, staying just outside the door into the newly opened hallway. "Do you... want me to shoot them in case they're alive?" she says. "I know they're not moving, but you never know, right?"
Leah causes one of the creature to drop from its injuries, but the other one lounges at her with a wide claw swipe aimed at her chest.
Jason halts momentarily and looks at the corpses. He gives Renala a nod and shoulders his rifle, sighting in on one of the bodies.
Renala follows his aim and sights in on the other body, though moves her weapon away as the other asari beats her to the punch. She glances into the room they originally came from -- the doorway opposite the terminal.
Vaden moves over to this door's panel and detaches it, frowning as he sees what's beneath. "Someone has sabotaged the door opening mechanism. I can't open it."
Leah swiftly steps back and out of range of the creature. She pivots on the ball of her lead foot and whips her backleg, aiming her shin at the lunging monster's lower-leg in hope of taking its leg out from under it.
Steve raises his SMG and unloads 8 rounds into the pack piling up on Maria. "Get back in the fight, kid!" he growls back at Alex as the shimmer slowly begins to envelope him once again.
Renala takes a step back and turns towards the doorway opposite the terminal. "Let's back-track, then," she says. "Maybe there's a way around."
Jason nods at Renala's suggestion. "We can't waste time fucking with this door." he says, "If we run out of options, I can always blow it." He starts back the way they came.
Steve's shots hit all over the place, but thanks to the enemies being clumped together most hit something at least. Alex' shots strike one as well. It's hard to tell if any of them fall. Leah successfully trips the one attacking her, and it hits the floor but immediately lashes out with a claw at her leg.
Vaden glances at Jason and then looks at the door. "Could use knife." he suggests. "It's not a high-security door."
Leah drops onto the creature as its claw makes contact with the armor plating on her leg. She immediately begins to reposition herself to start slamming her forearm plating into its head.
Jason stops in place and turns back to Vaden. He glances down at his chestplate and pulls the blade free. He quickly returns to the door and passes the blade off to Vaden. "Do your thing." he says, taking a step back and training his rifle on the door once again.
Renala stops as Jason's plans change, but she keeps watching through the doorway, in case anything is sneaking up on them. She is starting to look nervous, though.
Vaden looks at the knife sceptically, apparently unsure why he has to be the one to do this. He moves over to the door and slides the knife in between the doors, using all his strength to try and pry the door open. The doors slide open enough for a person to squeeze through and a few pistol shots immediately strike the salarian's shields, causing him to duck away from the opening. A man can be heard yelling from within the room. "Stay out! I won't be one of you!"
Renala raises her eyebrow at the sound of gunshot and imemdiately return to the hallway, staring at the far door with her Punisher raised.
Jason steps to the side of the door, pressing himself against the hallway wall opposite of the door's opening. "Whoa! Whoa! Calm the fuck down! We're here to help!" he shouts.
Renala stays close to the wall, but she'll probably be in range of the man through the door as she's not far into the hallway.
Jason glances towards Renala with a panicked look on his face. "Londinium Galactic sent us!" he calls out, "We're here to get you out of here!" he continues, attempting to calm the man down.
PanickedMan stops firing but can be heard talking to himself. "Nononono... oh no... liars... oh god..."
Steve continues firing at the mass of bodies until his clip runs dry (22 shots). As soon as his weapon stops firing, he punches forward, expelling a biotic throw at the heap.
Jasper continues to frantically work. He pokes at his omni-tool, cringing as the non-stop stream of gunfire erupts outside the shuttle. He has the front console pulled apart.
Leah's adversary slows down after having its head bashed, but continues to struggle with her. Its jaw comes unhinged as the by-now familiar metal tubes start to wrap around her arm. The hail of gunfire at the grouped up creatures cut down several of them. One of the last shots is followed by a metallic "Ping" and a moment later a firey explosion rocks the hangar, setting the remaining monstrosities alight and sending them flying in all directions.
Jason sighs. "We've got a shuttle out in the hangar... We're here to extract all employees." he says, lying somewhat in hope of calming the man, "Just... Set your weapon down, and open the door."
Leah scrambles to position her knees at the side of the creatures head as the metal tubes snake up her arm. She shifts her weight to the side and attempts to roll over and pull the monster on top of her.
PanickedMan shakes his head and then buries his face in his knees. "No, no, no..." He has lowered the gun.
Steve takes a few steps back towards Alex and looks her over. "You good?" he asks as he looks around to assess the situation. He moves his SMG to his broken arm and begins fishing for a fresh thermal clip, groaning loudly as he struggles to reload his weapon.
The hangar is littered with corpses, either shot or charred. One or two are still moving faintly. The creature that is now on top of Leah continues its attack while pinned between her knees. Its claws are scratching at her armor plating along with the tubes snaking around her arm.
Leah wraps her legs around the creature's neck and crosses an ankle behind her other knee, holding the creature's neck tightly. She firmly squeezes her thighs together and presses the bottom of her boot against the monster's shoulder in a last ditch effort to either rip free of the tubing, or yank the creature's head off entirely.
Leah manages to detatch her attacker's head from her spine - while it remains attached to the body, the creature stops moving.
Leah quickly begins untangling the tubes from her arm and picks her Mattock up off the ground. She begins reloading it and returning to a position near the shuttle. Her breathing is a bit heavy.
Jason nods at Renala and then at the door, hoping she'll interpret his meaning correctly. He holsters his Revenant on his back and removes his Phalanx from his thigh.
