#RedrockAgency – March 30, 2014

Vasquez is, unsurprisingly, sitting by her desk. She seems a bit distracted from her work but is still typing away at the computer terminal. A datapad, some papers and a coffee mug sits on the desk. There is also an M-4 Machine Pistol half-concealed under one of the papers. She's wearing her gray-red work uniform.

Jason slowly makes his way through the agency, looking quite exhausted. He's still in his hardsuit with bits of dirt and grime on his face. He heads straight for Vasquez' office and taps at the panel, causing the door to slide open. Taking a few steps in, he takes a deep breath and slumps into the chair opposite of her desk. "Well, that could've went better." he groans.

Vasquez looks up at Jason with a mix of relief, concern and jealousy. "Shit... what happened? Did everyone make it?" Her hands move away from the haptic interface as she looks Jason over.

Jason nods. "Everyone's fine." he says, waving off the question, "Renala and Mendez took a few hits, but nothing too serious." He shifts in the chair, attempting to get comfortable and failing miserably, "Managed to find the employees, though." he sighs, "Got 'em out safely, so hopefully that'll shut Hnipinn up. Don't forget to remind them of this when you're renegotiating their contract..."

Vasquez cracks a smile. "That's better than I expected... and I can stop stalling. So what's the problem?" She glances at her screen before focusing on Jason again, putting her arms on the desk and leaning slightly forward as she waits for him to respond.

Jason shrugs. "Wouldn't call it a problem, per se..." he says, leaning his head back against the headrest and staring up at the ceiling, "Was just a bit more than I expected. Slavers had 'em. I'm just glad we managed to get all those folks out."

Dead slavers, freed slaves, no casualites. Sounds like a win to me.

Vasquez studies the state of Jason and his armor in silence for a moment. "Damn, I miss going out on the missions."

Jason leans his head forward to face Linda as a large, lopsided grin crosses his face. "Got to blow up a mine, too." he brags, seeming very proud of himself. Suddenly something seems to occur to him and he straightens up in his seat, "Oh, you're gonna love this... We managed to... Uhh... 'procure' a new shuttle. Figured, fuck it. Hnipinn isn't paying us any extra for this shit. Might as well get something out of it, right?"

Vasquez smirks slightly at Jason's pride. When he mention's the shuttle she seems stunned for a moment and almost stands up. "You-... really? Is it spaceworthy? We need something to go off-planet in."

Jasper's going to look it over and make sure everything is where it should be, but yeah...

Jason furrows his brow, "Wait... What do we need to go off-planet for?" he asks before his smile returns, "You takin' me on a vacation?"

Vasquez shrugs slightly and leans back a bit. "Well..." she starts "...not exactly. I've got a new job lined up. It's off-world, but they pay is good and it sounds straigthforward."

Jason removes his gauntlets and begins fidgeting with them, scraping at some dirt with his fingernail. "Yeah?" he asks, glancing up momentarily, "What kind of work?"

Vasquez slides a datapad with some info on Londinium Galactic over to Jason. "Londinium Galactic has lost contact with one of their asteroid mines. It opened recently. They want to keep it low-key. Reputation on the line and all the usual bullshit. Mine is on the edge of the Nimean Abyss, so it's probably batarians, and I think they know that."

Jason sets his gauntlets in his lap and wipes off his hands before reaching for the datapad. "So, what are they expecting out of this?" he asks as he skims over the information, "If it was batarians, there's a good chance they're long gone. Are we just being contracted to check out the site?"

They want us to find out what happened, clear the place out of necessary, rescue survivors. Apparently they're supposed to have security protocols in place for an attack, but I doubt they did them much good. Could be it's just broken comms. Would mean easy money for us.

Jason nods a few times and leans forward to set the datapad back down. He gives a pained grunt as he settles back into his seat.

Easy money is my favorite kind... So when is this supposed to go down?

As soon we can get a solid team together. If it's an attack and they're still there, I don't want you walking in unprepared.

Jason nods, "That makes two of us." he snorts. "If there's a chance we might need to deal with their security, I'd feel much better taking Renala along. She seems to really have a knack for that kind of shit." he says, "Natural born nerd. But she's probably going to need a few days. She got banged up a bit back there."

Vasquez sighs and nods. "Should be able to drag it out a few days, but we can't wait for too long. We need more big jobs like this."

You worry too much. We're doing fine...

Jason begins tugging at the straps on his armor to loosen them. "Relax, Linda. I'll have them ready as soon as Renala and Mendez are back in action."

Vasquez shakes her head at Jason. "Ever the optimist, huh?" Her computer terminal beeps and she moves her hands and gaze back to the haptic keyboard while talking. "Well... maybe after this mission we can get some less shitty equipment."

Jason | "Mining-grade explosives." he says plainly. "What we need... Is some mining-grade explosives." He begins slouching in the chair, "Would be nice if we could hire on a few more people, too. We've barely got enough to field a full team right now."

Yeah... I know. Maybe it'll be easier to get new people if we can offer some decent gear. Oh... try not to blow up the asteroid mine. They told me it's pretty expensive.

Jason frowns. "Look... I'm not saying I'm gonna blow it up... I'm just saying, it's best to be safe. So you might want to start coming up with a way to break the news to Lon-.. Dondum Galactic that their asteroid no longer exists." he says. His grin slowly returns to his face.

Vasquez gains a faint smirk, but remains focused on her screen. "Uh-huh... I'll start preparing for that." She keeps typing.

Jason grabs his gauntlets off his lap and rises to his feet. He lets out a long yawn as he stretches, reaching out to his sides with both arms. "Don't take this the wrong way, you're awesome company and all... But if I sit here and watch you type for any longer, I'm gonna pass the fuck out." he says. "What I need is a nice hot shower and some sleep."

Vasquez waves him off. "Go. I've got to contact Hnipinn, and get some more details from Londinium." Her gaze doesn't move from the screen.

Jason begins moving towards the door. "By the way, I'm glad you're safe, Jason. You did such a great job!" he says in an unflattering mock voice, "Oh, I'm fine, and it was nothing! Just, you know, potentially saving the future of this company and our very well-being while freeing a group of kidnapped slaves." he responds to himself, "You know, nothing worth mentioning." He glances back over his shoulder with a grin, clearly amusing himself.

Vasquez nods and mumbles "Mhm." while studying the text on the screen - it's clear she didn't listen to what he said at all.

Jason mutters to himself and proceeds out of the room as he shakes his head.
