Vasquez is standing on front of the desks in the briefing room. She's wearing her uniform and looking quite serious as she looks over the room, hands behind her back, waiting for the latecomers.
#RedrockAgency – August 11, 2014
Briefing before the mission to Aroste.
Philip is sitting at one of the front desks, looking quite excited. He is wearing what looks like a second-hand Alliance armor vest over his jumpsuit. It does, at least, have a shield generator. His uncollapsable Mattock sits next to him, leaned against the desk.
Jason is seated atop one of the desks at the front of the room, using a chair as a footrest and looking towards the back of the room. He's dressed for combat, donning his blue-and-white hardsuit. A blade is sheathed across the chestplate, and his Revenant laying across his lap, while his helmet sits beside him atop the desk.
Damien sits at the front, decked out in his usual blue-digital combat gear. His Carnifex rests atop his desk, and his helmet sits beside him on the ground. His face is set in his professional expression, patiently waiting.
Jattic is sitting at his desk, not paying much attention to the others as he waits for the briefing to begin. His Vindicator is folded up on the desk.
Renala makes her way inside the agency's building for the first time in months, and heads straight for the briefing room. "Morning," she says, finding a desk near the door. She's in her hardsuit, with a small weapon holstered on each side.
Leah is pouring herself a cup of coffee. She takes a sip of it and cringes. She licks at the roof of her mouth for a moment and shakes her head at Jason before tossing the cup into the garbage and returning to her seat.
Calyx stood towards the back of the room, arms crossed and against the wall. His usual Mattock was on his back, Phalanx pistol on his thigh plate. The turian's armor was painted black and trimmed with yellow and gold, a curved, large, nasty looking knife on his left pauldron. His helmet was on, and he looked out at the rest of the room through a dark tinted visor. "Morning," he offered the asari, tilting her head some an watching as she passed.
Victoria sits in the back wearing her red armor and hair tied in a pony tail. Her weapons holstered and visor in her lap.
Halisi is sitting at the right-side corner desk, looking over the contents of her satchel. She's wearing an all-white set of light armor with a hand-painted red cross on each shoulder. She doesn't appear to be armed.
Jason gives Renala a nod. "Hey." he greets the new arrivals, "Thanks for showing up on such a short notice." he says, "We didn't have much time to put this all together, so we appreciate it."
Renala glances up at the turian with an uncertain look, though fails to recognize him. She directs her gaze forward again, awiting word from the managment.
Damien leans back into his chair and grabs his Carnifex, holstering it to his side. He watches Jason, listening.
Jason glances out over the others and does a quick headcount silently. He looks back at Vasquez, "Think that's it, right?"
Vasquez looks around the room slowly, making sure everyone she's requested is present. Eventually she nods and takes a step forward. "Now that you're all here, let's begin. We've been hired to assault the base of a salarian of the Darennon clan. Our goal is to find information on the location of Rellis. Some of you are already familiar with him."
Salarian, huh? Calyx grunts but keeps his comments to himself. Could just wait a few days, let him die of old age.
Vasquez continues after a brief pause. "His base is located on an island in the Derrai Union, to the far north. According to our intel the base has a light defensive force. A squad of mercs and a few security mechs only, so getting in shouldn't be a problem. I want you all to make sure to keep computers intact - since we're looking for information. And I want the salarian captured for interrogation. We are prepared to accept
surrender from the guards and, or, the salarian, but be ready to fight. Remember, you'll be clearing buildings, so equip yourselves accordingly."
<Calyx raises a hand, three fingers in the air.> 'Clearing' buildings and 'blowing them up' are pretty similar, right? <He looks over at Jason and clicks his mandibles together, dropping the hand again.> Aw.
Vasquez glances at Jason before continuing. "For many-..." She shoots Calyx a worried look. "For many of you, this will be your first mission for Redrock. I expect you all to follow Mr. Wolfe's orders and work together as a team... no unauthorized explosions." She adds.
Calyx nods, crossing his arms again." Alright, alright, I was joking." A pause, and he shifts on his feet, then, to himself, "... kind of."
Jason smirks a bit, already liking the turian, but he quickly wipes the smile away as Vasquez begins to speak. "The information needs to be our main concern. Anything that could jeopardize any data held within their base should probably be avoided." he sighs, giving Calyx a shrug, "Unfortunately..."
Vasquez clears her throat we a slightly annoyed expression. "Steels will be taking you to Derrai in the shuttle. You will depart as soon as everyone is ready. Any questions?"
"There'll be other jobs," he remarks to Jason with a shrug. "Of the explosive variety, I mean." At Vasquez's mention of further questions, he opens his mouth to speak, though it can't be seen from behind that helmet of his. A pause, and his mandibles snap together again. Better not...
Vasquez lets her gaze wander across the room, waiting to see if anyone has a question. Eventually she speaks again. "Alright, get ready and assemble in the shuttle bay. Wolfe, they're all yours."
Jason claps his gauntlets together before lifting his Revenant off his lap and hopping off the desk. "Alright, folks!" he says as he holsters the weapon on his back, "Let's mount up and I'll fill you all in on the details during our ride." He grabs his helmet off the desk and moves over towards the door on the right-hand side of the room. He taps the interface and leans against the wall beside the door as it opens, waiting for the others to enter the shuttle bay.
Philip gets out of his seat, grabbing his rifle and making his way towards the shuttle bay immediately - it appears he has no interest in making any changes to his choice of equipment.
Damien snaps up in an instant, helmet pulled on. The two circular visors flicker and hum blue as he steps through the door. He gives Jason a curt nod.
The shuttle bay is largely empty aside from the kodiak parked near the bay door and a large number of tools and spare parts in the corner.
Halisi gets out of her seat and disappears into the locker room briefly before returning and following Leah calmly.
Jattic is slow to rise from his seat. He collects his weapon from his desk and follows towards the back of the group.
Calyx hangs back until the asari leaves so he can wat--er, follow, so that he can follow from behind. He keeps further comments to himself, instead looking ahead and peering over the group as they all file towards the shuttle bay.
Philip shoots Jattic a few nervous glances as the batarian enters the shuttle bay. He keeps a healthy distance from both him and Calyx.
Jason remains leaning against the wall beside the door as the others enter the door. Once they're all through, he gives Vasquez a short wave. "Leave the lights on for me." he jokes, smirking faintly at the woman before he falls in line behind the rest of the team.
Leah reaches the shuttle and taps the interface alongside it, causing the door to slide open. She grabs the sides of the door and pulls herself up into the kodiak, taking the seat closest to the door.
Halisi enters the shuttle after Leah, and takes a seat on the other side of the door. She puts her satchel by her feet.
Philip takes a seat next to Renala, or tries to - His rifle gets in the way. He unslings it from his back and stands it against the floor instead as he sits down, nodding at the asari with a smile.
Damien looks up at the turian, any expression hidden behind his helm. "You aren't going to take a seat?" he asks, emotionless.
Jattic hops into the shuttle and sits beside Philip. He stares at the human for a few moments with something resembling contempt. He grunts and looks forward.
Victoria walks into the pilot seat of the shuttle, she puts her visor on and puts her weapons on the floor next to her.
Jason climbs into the shuttle once everyone is in and shuts the door. He makes his way to a free seat and begins to lock his harness in place. He glances across at Jattic with a smile. "I see you're in a good mood today."
Philip flinches as Jattic sits down next to him. He nods at the batarian as well, offering a far more forced smile.
Renala puts on the safety harness, smirking to Victoria. She nods to the human beside her. "You brought a weapon this time," she says. "So, your first plan didn't get approved?"
Jason winks at Jattic and looks up at Calyx. "You might wanna take a seat, buddy. Victoria isn't what I'd call 'right in the head'. I wouldn't count on this being a smooth ride."
Calyx looks down at Damien, quirking a brow, though it can't be seen through the helmet. "Your lap available?" he asks, turning to face Jason instead. A small sigh. "Yeah, yeah. Here -- scoot over." He moves to sit beside Damien, taking up nearly two seats, being the only seven foot tall turian inside. The Phaeston is in his lap now, instead. "Cozy?"
Victoria starts pressing the necessary commands to start up the shuttle. ''Or you could stand up and I can see if I could fling you out. Could be fun.'' She says in a joking tone.
Philip does his best to ignore Jattic's presence as he turns to face Renala again, while securing his harness. "Well, ya know. Plan B can be fun too every now and then, right?" He pats his Mattock rifle with a grin.
Jattic groans as Victoria speaks. "Inform her that she needs to open the shuttle bay doors. I'm not dying due to her incompetence."
Halisi is too busy making note of the people she hasn't met before to remember that she hasn't put her safety harness on.
Jason furrows his brow. "She's a trained pilot, Jattic. She knows wha-..." he pauses for a moment. Raising his voice, he shouts loud enough to be heard by Victoria, "Vicky! Make sure you open the shuttle bay doors!"
Damien looks at the turian, shrugging. Or, as best as he can with the harness on. "Hey, I don't care if you do or don't. Though, I'm sure people don't want a armoured turian collapsing into them if something goes wrong."
''If I wanted to crush a shuttle, I would fly it into a hill or mountain.'' She presses a few more buttons to open the shuttle bay doors. ''Can't warm up the shuttle without getting yelled at.''
Renala nods. "Yeah, true," she says. "My plan A is my program working on the mechs. It worked on the one I fixed up, at least."
Jason grabs ahold of his harness instinctively. "So. We don't have much intel on the location." he begins, hoping everyone is paying attention, "But aside from some security mechs, there should only be six armed guards on sight. Shouldn't be much of a problem, but keep in mind that our intel could be outdated, or flat out wrong."
Damien powers up his omni-tool and shifts through his programs and settings, listening to Jason while doing so.
"Yeah, and we'll see how well I can hit a shuttle's engines while I'm falling," he tells Victoria with a grunt.
Philip raises an eyebrow. "I never was one for computers. I mean, don't get me wrong, something happens to the harvesting mechs, I can fix 'em up fine, but zeroes and ones and all that? No thanks."
Victoria continues pressing the buttons on the console setting up everything, while the shuttle was still warming up.
Like I said before, our main goal should be to force a surrender. I figure if we hit them hard and fast, storm in loud and intimidating, there's no way six hired guards are gonna throw their lives away over a job. Maybe send in Jattic and Calyx. Ugly them into submission.
Damien powers down the omni-tool and relaxes, absentmindedly tapping the Blue Suns symbol on his Carnifex. He looks to Jason and speaks up, tone ever respectful. "I can take point, my armour can take quite a beating, sir." He says. His armour is a light variant.
Renala is about to respond when Jason speaks up, and chuckles as well as she sees the batarian's stare.
Jason nods to Damien. "We'll assess the situation once we're on-site. Like I said, we don't have much to go on in terms of layout. Hopefully Vicky will find a spot to set us down without drawing much attention and we'll have time to come up with an entry plan."
Philip is looking rather unhappy to be seated next to Jattic. He's looking down at the floor, trying to avoid seeming nervous.
Halisi nearly falls out of her seat as the shuttle takes off. She grabs a hold of the harness at the last minute, and starts to secure it, looking a bit embarassed.
As soon as the shuttle left the shuttle bay, Victoria pressed a button to shut they bay door. ''Everyone ready to go?''
"Ready as ever," Calyx answers, leaning back and setting the rifle between his legs, barrel pointed towards the shuttle's ceiling.
