Philip steps out of the shuttle and then moves aside so that he's not in the way of the rest. He glances to Marissa to see how she's doing.
#RedrockAgency – August 16, 2014
Marissa has been quiet for the ride back, not being at all comfortable among mercenaries. If talked with, she wouldn't have said anything more than before. She remains in her seat, unsure what to do.
Jelvan untangles the harness as he grabbed and starts walking towards the door out. "No need to use force," he says. "Not going anywhere." He steps out and gets out of the way before stopping and turning towards the shuttle.
Leah hops off the shuttle behind the salarian. "Keep movin'." she instructs, placing a hand on the small of Jelvan's back and giving him a light shove towards the door.
Marissa takes off the harnesses and moves out of the shuttle, looking around the hangar warily. She doesn't give any verbal response.
Jelvan mumbles something about impatience, but complies and starts walking towards the door indicated by Leah at a reasonable pace.
Leah follows behind the salarian closely. "The sooner you get this over with, the sooner you can get out of here."
Philip nods at Marissa and then looks to Renala. "So, uh..." He scratches the back of his head. "What are we gonna do about this?"
Renala steps out of the shuttle, as well, before looking towards Phillip. "We've got to get her home," she says. "Her mother's probably worried for her." She places a gauntleted hand on Marissa's shoulder. "You got your mother's contact info?"
Philip nods at Renala with a faint smile. "Glad to hear I'm not the only one that wants to help out." After Marissa speaks he looks to her with a thoughtful look. "This Armali place... it big?"
Jattic looks over the young asari and gives Philip a disapproving glare before following Leah and Jelvan into the briefing room.
Renala nods. "Huge," she says. "Our best chance would be getting in touch with the authorities, but I doubt they'd just thank us and move on."
Philip ponders their options for a moment before responding. "Think the client might know somethin' helpful?"
Leah reaches out and places a hand on Jelvan's shoulder. "Stay here." she says before turning and glancing at Jattic, "Keep an eye on him." She crosses the room and enters the hall, proceeding towards Vasquez' office.
Jattic crosses his arms over his chest and stands beside Jelvan, giving the salarian a menacing glare.
Leah continues down the hall to Vasquez' office and raps her knuckles against the door. "Chief?" she calls out.
Vasquez is sitting slumped in the chair behind her desk, her gaze focused, more or less, on her computer terminal. The only light in the room comes from the screen, and the streetlamps outside the window. When Leah opens the door she looks to her, blinking a few times. "Oh. You're back."
Leah takes a single step towards the woman, raising her eyebrow as something is clearly 'off' about the woman. "...Yeah. We're back." she says, "Uhh... We managed to extract the target, ma'am. He's awaiting interrogation."
Vasquez nods a few times. "Good. Great. Lock him up. I'll... handle it. Later. Where's J-... Wolfe?"
Leah sighs and gives somewhat of a shrug, "He's not here, ma'am. A few shots managed to slip past his shields. We had to get him to the clinic." she says, continuing without so much as a pause, "I'm not exactly sure where you'd like me to take Darennon. The office at the other end of the hall isn't being used, is it?"
Vasquez shoots out of her chair, causing a datapad and a few papers to drop to the floor. She shakes her head to clear it and moves around the desk. "Yeah. Good idea. Office. Put... put him there. Going to the... clinic." She says while moving past Leah, swaying a bit when navigating around the woman.
Leah steps out of Vasquez' way. She follows her for a few steps, "How long are you gonna be?" she asks, sounding a bit shaken by the woman's sudden reaction, "Should I wait around? We can't just leave him in a room by himself, can we?"
Renala nods. "I think so," she says. "We could just call the Armali police and report it, and hope for the best."
Vasquez keeps moving down the hallway while responding: "Yeah... yeah. Guard him. I'll pay overtime." She mumbles with a dismissive gesture, making her way into the briefing room. She barely aknowledges the others and she's soon gone.
Leah tosses her arms up and allows them to fall loosely to her side. "Cuz I've got nothing better to do..." she mutters to herself once Vasquez is out of earshot. She sighs and gives a shake of her head before returning to the briefing room.
Philip nods faintly. "Yeah... suppose that's all we can do." He says, although he doesn't look entirely convinced it's going to work out.
Jattic looks towards Vasquez as she passes through. Once Leah reappears through the door, he gives her a confused look. "She comin' back?" he asks.
Leah glances towards the door Vasquez flew through. "She'll be back. I'll stick around and keep an eye on our friend. Go ahead and get home." she sighs as she approaches Jelvan. "Come on. This way." she instructs the salarian, grabbing his arm and directing him towards the hall.
Renala frowns, patting the younger asari's shoulder. "Yeah. I don't like it, but it's our best chance," she says. "I have a little one back on Thessia. If someone found her in some place like that, it's what I'd expect from them."
Jelvan sighs and starts walking towards the hall. "I do understand spoken directions," he says. "No need to treat me like difficult child."
Leah nudges the salarian once again, a slight smirk appearing on her lips. "You certainly complain like a child." she says as she makes her way to the hall.
Philip nods and then stops rather suddenly, narrowing his eyes. "How old are ya, darlin'?" He asks Marissa.
Philip furrows his eyebrows, remaining silent for a bit. "...twice my age. Man... that just freaks me out."
Leah points towards the office to their left. "Over there." she says, giving him yet another soft push from behind. "She'll be back soon. Had to-... Take care of some business."
Renala chuckles. "You asked," she says with a smirk. "She's way too young to be this far from home, that's for sure."
Jelvan snorts as he makes his way over to the office, tapping the interface if it's green. "Then why the impatience?" he asks, "if the interrogator is absent."
Philip mumbles something about the thought of having to spend another twenty years living with his parents.
Leah narrows her eyes and pushes the salarian softly yet again into the room. Clearly just doing it to be a jerk at this point. "Because I don't want to have to keep wondering whether you're gonna book it. Nowhere for you to go in here. Now take a seat." she says, nodding towards one side of the room. She moves to the opposite wall, puts her back against it, and slides to the floor to sit on her ass.
Renala smirks as she gets the gist of his mutterings. "I know, right?" she says. "I was on a shuttle off-world just a few days after I hit sixty."
Leah unfolds her rifle from her back and lays it across her lap. "We're not gonna have any issues with you cooperating, are we?" she asks with a sigh, "I'd like to get home at some point tonight. So when she gets back, let's make this quick."
Marissa listens to their conversation, until asking, "Um, where am I? I have never heard of Freedom Falls."
Leah snorts grimly and shakes her head. "Location of 'Rellis'." she says, "At least, that's all I know. I'm sure there's probably more to it."
Philip goes silent, looking a bit dumb, as he hopes for Renala to answer the question before it becomes obvious he has no idea.
Jelvan sniffs. "My brother. Knew it was trouble, but couldn't pass up proposal," he says. "No, no. Don't look for him." He pauses for a second. "Why?"
Leah stares at Jelvan for a moment. "And by 'not putting your life in danger' you mean... You're not going to tell her what she needs to know...?" she asks.
And what do you think we'll do to you if you don't tell us what we need to know? Do you think this is just some friendly housecall? We're inviting you over for dinner? You don't have much of a choice, Darennon. We're not cold-blooded killers. That's why we gave you the choice to come peacefully. But make no mistake, you were coming one way or another.
Philip looks between the two asari. "So... we're gonna contact the, uh... authorities, and let them handle it? Guess... that's what you do when dealin' with people from... Council worlds, huh?" He doesn't seem entirely comfortable with the idea, shifting a bit as he speaks.
Renala nods. "It's the best idea I have," she says. "I could try have someone that's in Armali to ask around, but that might go both ways, and get more people in trouble."
Leah shrugs. "Suit yourself. I'm just saying it would be in your best interest to cooperate. Figure out the rest later."
Philip nods faintly. "What are we gonna do about her 'til then?" He says, before catching himself and looking to Marissa. "Sorry, where are my manners. Shouldn't talk like ya aren't here."
Renala looks down at her with a faint sheepish smile. "How about the Miner's Respite?" she says, glacing at Phil. "I've stayed there for a year."
Marissa nods. "Mhm," she hums faintly, fidgeting a little. "I, um, don't want to be here, so... are we going there?"
Renala pats Marissa's shoulder. "Just let me check if they're having the chat with the salarian in there." She makes her way over to the door to the conference room and opens it, looking inside.
Renala turns back towards them. "It's empty," she says before her omni-tool comes to life. "I'll order a taxi to get us there." She starts tapping on it, ordering a taxi to outside the gate, before making her way inside.
