The turian keeps observing the room below, awaiting an answer. He glances to the side for a moment as someone speaks to him, but it's in a hushed voice and inaudible for anyone in the room.
Damien keeps his sights on the bay door. "Are we going to answer him or shoot him? I'm fine with either."
Steve pulls up his omni-tool quickly as it begins to beep. "Fuck!" he exclaims, stepping away from the salarian's side. "Hey Chief! We got a problem back at the Respite. Handful of armed folks are tryin' to put some sort of device into a terminal there." he glances up towards the ceiling, "Given the situation, I doubt it's a coincidence." (Jason_Wolfe)
Jason awaits an answer from Kim while watching Vasquez to see how she plans on responding to the turian.
Vasquez looks at Steve and curses. "Fuck! We don't have time for this shit!" She takes aim at the turian once more and opens fire.
Steve instinctively ducks as Vasquez unexpectedly opens fire. "Shit!" he groans as he reaches for his sidearm and pulls it free. "If it's these clowns then the Respite might be in some serious trouble, Chief. You know I gotta get back there." he continues as he backs up towards the crates Mendez had stacked. (Jason_Wolfe)
Damien flinches at the sudden unleashing of firepower, before following up by shooting short bursts at the Turian.
Mendez crouches behind the crates momentarily as the gunfire erupts. Unable to add much to the firepower from this range with his shotgun, he hurries towards the salarian, replacing Steve since he abandoned his post. "Looks like it's you and me." he says to the salarian with a grim smile as he takes a position behind the crate. (Jason_Wolfe)
[E]Turian seems surprised at the opened fire, the shields taking it so far. He pulls out a frag grenade and throws it in the direction of where Vasquez is, although the aim is a little off. Afterwards, he takes a few steps back to not be a sitting duck. "You know what to do!" he shouts out towards others on the roof.
Vasquez ducks down behind the crate, back towards it in hopes the makeshift cover will protect her along with her shields.
Steve hurries behind the short wall of crates as well, pressing hard against one and staying low. "Your call, Chief. But if it is these assholes plannin' somethin' down at the Respite, Redrock is gonna be hard pressed to get another gig if people find out the Respite's staff was massacred on our watch." Victoria takes cover behind a crate hoping her shield and cover would take the blast. ''Me and Steve can rush back to the Respite.'' She added to the conversation.
Jasper cusses loudly to himself as he climbs back into the shuttle and makes his way to the cockpit. He grabs his Avenger and looks the weapon over once before returning to the cargo hold of the shuttle and using the row of seats as cover. "Well shit... I don't reckon they like bein' shot at, Chief!" (Jason_Wolfe)
Damien slaps in a fresh clip into his rifle, chuckling. It sounds slightly forced. "Hell, maybe that Krogan caught them. So, what's the plan with these guys? Pin 'em until support comes in?"
The grenade goes off, but the crates would be more than sufficient to keep fragments at bay. An asari and two humans, all fully armored and holding a Tempest submachine gun appears on the broad edge of the opening, a meter apart.. One opens fire towards Vasquez' crate, the other towards Jason. The asari, on the other hand, jumps through the opening, using a biotic field to keep her from falling too fast.
Jason lowers his weapon and sprints away from the grenade, taking cover behind the shuttle. "We're not letting anything happen to the people at the Respite." he chimes in, worried for Va'ynna's well-being, "The militia is on their way, right Linda? We'll be able to send a few towards the Respite while we stall for time."
Vasquez curses under her breath, apparently convinced by Jason. "Briggs, Steels. Go." She pops back out of cover and grabs her weapon. She takes a second to asses the room before unleashing a hail of bullets towards the descending asari
[E]Asari speeds up her descent, wincing as she hits the ground. She sends a shockwave Vasquez' way before running towards vacant cover. Her shields take the fire, but there's not much left of it when she hit the ground.
The human firing at Jason focuses fire on Vasquez (or her cover if applicable), joining the other to cover the asari's descent.
[E]Turian approaches the edge once more. "You can still surrender the salarian!" he shouts. "They're not all we have."
Steve nods to himself. "You got it, Chief." he says as he rises from behind the crate and sends a few rounds towards the asari, mostly suppressive fire. "Let's move, Vicky!" he calls out as he begins to book it towards the door, hoping to escape the shockwave's reach. (Jason_Wolfe)
Damien charges up an incinerate and launches it in an arc to strike the asari as she sprints to cover. He pops off a few more shots to try and bring her shields down before the incinerate hits her.
Vasquez ducks down to avoid the gunfire from above, but then turns the Confetti Maker towards the crate and opens fire through it at the asari on the other side of the cover.
Jason remains behind the shuttle as gunfire peppers his cover. Once the human refocuses his fire, Jason gives it a moment to make sure no more rounds are heading his way before swinging out and firing a burst of rounds up towards the shuttle door, hoping to suppress the other attacker.
Victoria nods and rushes off to the door and trying to keep up with Briggs, trying to avoid any gunfire that might come her way.
Jason calls back to the turian loudly as he releases the trigger and returns to cover behind the shuttle. "Great! The more the merrier! Alternatively, you could hand over our credits and avoid the shitty task of having to hire an all new staff once we kill off your current one. Sound good? Sounds good to me, let's run with it."
Kim will see 4 people in addition to the ones visible to the others. Two turians, an asari and a salarian, all using assault rifles except for the asari. The salarian has his omni-tool activated, tapping away at it. The shuttle is taking fire from a militia gunship and is trying to evade it by setting course for whence it came.
[E]Asari gets behind cover just as her shields fail and the incinerate orb makes contact with the crate. She remains behind it, the occasional bullet getting through slowing her shields' regenation a lot. "Need some help here, Iler," she speaks into the comms. "The woman with the big gun."
Damien ducks back behind the crate, speaking aloud as he waits for his incinerate to charge up again. "Have we got any big guns in these crates?"
Steve continues through the door and out towards the entrance. "No tellin' how much time we got, Vic." he says as he pulls up his forearm and activates his omni-tool, "I'm gonna call us up a shuttle, have it meet us a couple blocks south a' here." He lowers his sprint to a light jog once they're a reasonable distance from the hangar. (Jason_Wolfe)
Victoria jogs along side Briggs ''Sounds like a smart idea, hopefully we can get there before anyone is harmed.''
Mendez remains near the crate with Jelvan. "If I were you, I'd be trying to call off the attack dogs. This isn't gonna end well for you." he says to the salarian. (Jason_Wolfe)
Steve nods as he pokes at his omni-tool for a few moments. "More importantly, hopefully we get there before these assholes do enough harm to cost me my job." he sighs. (Jason_Wolfe)
Damien hums to himself as he peaks over the cover and fires a burst of rounds at the asari, launching another incinerate in a similar arc to try and hit her over cover.
Vasquez pops out of cover as soon as there is a break in the gunfire, aiming the Confetti Maker at the asari's head and blasting away.
Renala peeks over cover and fires off a throw towards one of the humans on the edge, the leftmost one.
Another asari appears at the edge and hurls off a singularity towards the group, aiming to have it blossom above Vasquez' position. It's too late for the other asari, though, as the confetti maker makes short work of what little remained of her shields, and her helmet.
Renala's throw gets one of the humans off the edge, disappearing from view. The salarian's shields can't handle the sniper's shot and it gets through, hampering his efforts. Another sniper shot can be heard just after, also impacting the salarian; killing him. If traced back, it seems there's two standing on another rooftop, possibly militia but they're not flying any colors.
Damien quickly switches his target and aims towards the human, firing a burst up at them. He quickly rolls to the side, reloads, and continues his suppressing.
Jason steps out and holds down the trigger of his Revenant, laying more suppression fire down at those standing around the door in the ceiling.
Vasquez is sucked into the air by the singularity while her finger is still on the trigger, causing a random stream of AP rounds to go off in every direction for a few seconds before she loses her grip on the gun.
Damien flinches as an AP round strikes his armour. He turns around and watches Vasquez float for a second, before resuming fire. He would have found the situation quite comedic in another scenario.
Renala gets up from cover, and fires towards the biotic. Her shields keep up against what of Vasquez' misfire is directed at her. "Focus on the biotic," she shouts.
Jason nods and shrugs off the couple of AP rounds that ping off his shields as he begins to empty what's left of his thermal clip towards the biotic. "You're not doing yourselves any favors by sticking around!" he calls out to the attackers, "Look, we don't give two shits about the salarian. Give us what we asked for so we can cover the damages we've sustained, and we'll hand him over.
Damien switches to his Carnifex and takes careful aim at the biotic. He pulls off a couple of shots, before launching a Cryo blast at her.
The other two turians fire towards the two that were responsible for taking down the salarian, and one of them returns fire with an assault rifle. The sustained fire and the cryo blast is enough to get through the asari's shields, but the rather bulky armor keeps the cryo blast's effect from getting too deep. She backs off, out of view from the team in the shuttle bay. The humans shields are still going strong and he opens
Damien switches to the human and fires off an Overload at him, before ducking behind cover. He checks his omni-tool. "I thought there was meant to be a few gunships? Where's our goddamn support?"
The shuttle is getting more distant, as is the fire from the gunship. The other gunship has yet to make an appearance.
Vasquez 's shield takes several shots before failing, rounds striking her armor as she flails helplessly. "Get-... Kill-"
Jason returns to cover behind the shuttle as he begins to replace his thermal clip. "They seem to be taking their sweet time!"
There wasn't much left of the human's shields, thus Kim's shot gets through and he ends up plummeting to the shuttle bay's floor. He's not very alive.
Damien quickly jogs over to Vasquez and uses himself to shield her from any incoming fire, relying on his tech-armour to absorb a few rounds more than usual. "May want to get to cover. I'll cover you." He fires off a few rounds at the bay door with his pistol.
Vasquez falls to the floor with a thump, Damien thankfully shielding her while she gets her bearings and starts to scramble back on her feet.
Jason glances towards Vasquez as he exits cover and raises his weapon towards the ceiling door once again. "You alright!?" he asks.
Renala winces as the human hits the ground. "I've a feeling they're not going to give up," she says while reloading her weapon. "What if they're just gonna come back with more people tomorrow?"
There is currently nobody visible in the opening above. The second gunship can be seen flying past overhead.
Jason nods and unleashes a volley of gunfire through the opening, just hoping to keep anyone up there suppressed, "You're damn right we will. Eventually they'll either run out of morons dumb enough to attack us..." he says, raising his voice enough to hopefully be heard by the attackers, "...or realize it would cost them a whole lot less to just pay us what we're asking for."
Vasquez mumbles something incoherent while stumbling into cover without her machine gun. She neither says nor does anything for the moment.
The other asari appears again, sending off a singularity, targeting a point between Jason and Renala's position.
Kim had laid low after her last shot until the bullets temporarily stopped coming her way, then jumped up and activated her cloak. As soon as she can tell she's partially invisible, she bolts for the door out of the roof and runs inside.
Jason quickly squeezes off some more rounds at the asari as she makes her appearance. As soon as the singularity is fired off, he attempts to book it, but is a tad too slow and is pulled helplessly into the singularity's field. "Fuck! Kill that fucking biotic!" he shouts as he tumbles slowly through the air.
Renala is too slow to react and is dragged into the singulairty before she can get a proper handhold on the crate she was partially covered by. She drops her weapon.
There appears to still be some gunfire between the other sniper team and the two other turians on the roof.
[E]Turian reloads, but is unable to keep up with Kim as she cloaks. He fires off a burst in her general direction before making his way back towards the opening.
Damien fires a full clip at her, before discarding the rifle and pulling out his Carnifex and discharging a whole clip at the asari. He then launches an incinerate at her before sliding over to Vasquez's gun, scooping it up and unleashing hell on the biotic bitch.
Vasquez | The Confetti Maker ejects its thermal clip with an angry noise followed by a VI voice: "Unauthorized user."
Jason is peppered by a few of the asari's shots, which annoyingly causes his shield to fizzle and crackle. He struggles to do much with his weapon as he slowly tumbles, bouncing softly off of Renala which just further agitates him. "Fucking shoot her already!"
The asari's shields eat the incineration, but her shields still stand. After getting through one clip, she reloads and goes at it again.
Damien looks down at the rifle. "Are you serious?! Unauth- fuck this!" Drops the gun unceremoniously, before scooping up his rifle, reloading and carefully aiming at her head. "C'mon...". He fires a burst.
Renala floats helplessly in the singularity while the Locust fire makes takes out her shields shortly after the shooter reloaded, and a few impacts her armor.
Damien's fire gets the asari's shields down and then some. She takes a few steps back, out of view. Since there's no eyes on the roof, they won't know the extent of her injuries. As if things couldn't get worse, the turian shows up and aims at the singularity, as well. "Surrender!" he demands.
Damien growls as he shifts his aim to the Turian, but doesn't fire. "We need those gunships... Orders?"
Jason 's shields take a portion of the asari's fire as well, fizzling out as the last of her shots impact. "Surrender!?" he calls out as the turian makes his reappearance, attempting to maneuver to face the turian without much luck, "We have you surrounded from, literally, every fucking side! We have gunships above you. Snipers around you. Soldiers below you. And the second I get down
from here, I'm gonna come up there and stomp a fucking hole in you, you hear me!?" he threatens while still floating aimlessly in a very non-threatening manner.
[E]Turian opens fire towards the singularity, but is only given two seconds of aimlessly floating targets before the singularity goes out just as suddenly as it appeared. He shifts his attention to Damien to keep him suppressed.
Mendez frowns and gives Jelvan a hard stare. "Are you telling me you have no say in any of this? All this can end right now, just call your brother off!" he demands, looking as though he may attack the salarian. (Jason_Wolfe)
Damien 's tech-armour absorbs some of the rounds, buying Damien a few precious seconds to fire his overload and a burst of rifle fire at the Turian, before sliding into cover.
Jelvan nods. "Correct," he says. "Don't know how to reach brother. No power over his forces unless needed."
Jason takes a couple more shots, causing loud pings as they connect with his armor. As the singularity goes out, he falls helplessly to the ground, grunting loudly as he does. He attempts to lift his Revenant to get a bead on the turian, but the singularity ride has him disoriented and, thus, facing the wrong way.
Renala falls to the ground with a grunt, clutching a wound in her side, though there's about 5-6 gunshot wounds distributed on her sides, back, left arm and right leg.
Jason glances over at Renala as he reorients himself to fire off a few rounds at the turian. "How you doing, Renala?" he asks, unaware of her injuries.
Kim opens the door to another roof and has a quick double take when she finds two others on the rooftop. She recovers quickly and pulls her sniper rifle out, just in case.
Mendez furrows his brow. "You know this is going to end badly for you, right? If there's no chance that they're going to cover those damages, then there's no reason left to hold on to you." he says. He glances out at the others momentarily, "These are good people. But you're just becoming more trouble than you're worth." (Jason_Wolfe)
Renala starts crawling towards cover using whatever limbs doesn't hurt. "Not good," she responds, sounding pained.
The sniper (human woman, fully armored) remains in cover, reloading her rifle. The asari beside her waves Kim over to the couple of crates they use for cover. "She is, I just tagged along when she got called in," she says. One of the turians that were previously firing at them is down, but the other keeps suppressing the sniper with a Vindicator.
