#Aroste – August 12, 2014
Jason groans loudly and begins nervously rapping the fingertips of his gauntlets against his leg. "That's looking a little far, Aroste tower." he says, "We're suffering from some engine issues and are going to need to touch down immediately. We're barely keeping her out of the water. We'll update you as soon as we assess the damage."
"Negative," he says. "If your shuttle could dive all the way from Derrai, you're getting it across the island."
Jason sighs and deactivates comms. "Anything you can do to get us off their radar, Damien?" he asks, "The last thing we need is records of our arrival. Once we're gone, we can't have anyone looking to strike back at us."
Damien brings up his omni-tool and grunts. "I can try and mask our transponder signal, give us some time to get over there," he says. "Or, we follow their orders and then I can try and wipe any trace of us in their databanks."
Honestly, I think masking our approach is the best option. That way, we do things more to our terms than theirs.
Jason nods. "Do it." he orders, "Vicky, continue to our target coordinates. Don't answer any further attempts at contact by the tower." He stands from his seat and approaches the door, grabbing a handhold to keep his balance. "There's no telling how they're going to react. That means we need to hit the ground running. We get in. We get the information. We get out. Understood?" he glances over the others.
Victoria continues flying the shuttle towards the target coordinates ''We might need a way to mess with their targetting systems. So those guns cannot target us easily.'' Victoria added.
They are now about to cross the coastline to the island, the mission site coming into view in the distance as they appraoch from the west. It's a square building with concrete ground along the south wall and winding around to the east wall. "Do you copy?" the turian says over the radio.
Damien continues to furiously work through his omni-tool, trying to mask their signal. "Almost... there..."
Philip looks around at the others. "Wait, what?! How the hell are we gonna get out? This is stupid!"
Jattic removes his harness and finally lifts his helmet into place. He presses a hand against the wall and rises to his feet, taking a place beside Jason at the door.
The same way we're getting in, Phil. We mask our signal and hope it's enough. We'll deal with it. Get ready.
The turian stands and looks over his Phaeston one last time, towering over the others in the Kodiak. He nods an affirmative to Damien and jason, getting in to place.
Philip yells: "I don't know what that means!" perhaps frustrated by his life relying on a bunch of tech mumbo-jumbo.
''Sorry, our communications is messing up can you repeat?'' She said as she switches off the communications with the tower.
Halisi appears to be bracing herself for a crash landing, still gripping the harness tightly and moving into a more survivable position.
The lock on alert can be heard before it dissipates as the AA gun has to rely on visual. "Turn around," he says, but the next is cut off.
"Good a day to die as any," he remarks, nodding slowly. "We should probably open up the doors, though."
Renala gets off her safety harness and stands up, holding onto to the nearest handhold. "I can't believe we're doing this," she mutters.
Victoria drops the shuttle to be about 5 metres off the ground/water ''This will be the lowest I will go with this bucket.''
Philip mumbles "Shit..." to himself as the others stand up. He gets out of his harness and grabs his rifle, but remains seated as he can't see a suitable handhold.
They are now on a farmer's field, about 200 meters away from a forest clearing. The forest isn't thick, but there's little visibility through it, where the mission site is according to both their coordinates and previous visual on it.
Jason remains in place, unable to actually see what's going on from his position at the door, he relies on Victoria. "How're we lookin', Vicky?"
''Good, there is a nice landing area if you want to look at it.'' She said as she continued flying the ship.
The forest, while slightly dense, is only 170 meters to cross, but it would make adequate cover for their landing.
Renala smiles slightly, though her helmet obscure it. "I can't believe we actually reached our target," she says with a chuckle. "If we live to tonight, you can get drunk on my tab, Vicky."
Jason waits until the shuttle touches down before letting go of the handhold. He reaches out and taps the interface on the door, causing it to slide open. He brings up his omni-tool and quickly looks over the information displayed. "Should be right on the other side of this forest." he says as he hops out of the shuttle, "Let's get moving."
Halisi starts to remove her harness as the shuttle touches down. Before standing up she swings her medical satchel over her shoulder.
Damien follows Jason, his Carnifex raised as he sweeps his gaze around. His visors glow briefly before he nods once and waits for the rest of the team.
Jattic climbs out behind Jason with a grunt. "Unless we're planning on fighting our way through the local security, I suggest we make this quick."
Renala nods and jumps out of the shuttle, Locust drawn. Her other SMG, BP Punisher, is still in its holster along with a handful of clips and a single frag grenade.
Leah stands from her seat and exits the shuttle. She unfolds the Mattock from her back and shoulders it as she gives a quick look at their surroundings.
Calyx seems to be right there with the rest of them, though his smart-ass comments have ceased. For now.
There are a few buildings to the south, farmhouses, but they're 600 meters away and don't seem to have reacted to the landing yet. There are no people around, nor any machines driving on the field.
Jason looks around once everyone is out and gives a nod. "Jattic. Stay with the shuttle. If you get any resistence, report it ASAP. We can't lose the shuttle." He turns back to face the treeline and starts towards it, shouldering his Revenant as he picks up the pace. His Phalanx is holstered on his thigh.
Halisi exists the shuttle last, raising a hand over her eyes as she looks around, and up at the trees.
Jason continues onward, keeping his weapon trained on the treeline as he jogs toward it. "Keep your eyes peeled. Call out potential hostiles as you see 'em. Remember, we're not here for a body count. We only engage if we have no other choice."
Philip moves up beside Jason rather than using comms. "I'm a pretty good shot. Want me to hang back when we reach the other side?" He says with a nod forward.
Leah nods to herself as she jogs behind Jason. "I'm not looking for a fight if we do't need one." she agrees.
Halisi moves at the back of the group, looking around at the sides and up at the trees every now and then.
Jason slows down as they near the treeline. "Alright, slow it down." he says, moving at a brisk walk. He sweeps his Revenant back and forth as he begins to move through the forest, looking for any potential sign that their arrival may be expected.
They make their way to the treeline without issue, still no activity from the farm that they would notice.
Renala remain near the back of the group, glancing around. She did not feel comfortable in an Aitian forest.
Leah walks alongside Renala with her weapon lowered. She scans back and forth as the group continues through the forest. "Looks clear." she says.
Jason continues through the treeline, slowing down and taking in his surroundings as they approach the other side.
Some might spot an animal on the group's three-o-clock, but it looks up and skitters away in the opposite direction before anyone can inspect it.
Leah quickly swings her weapon up towards the movement, but slowly lowers it as she realizes it was just some local wildlife. Her face turns red behind her helmet.
Renala snaps her head towards it, albeit a little too late. She shakes her head and continue following.
Jason glances at the movement, but doesn't pay it much mind. He's more interested in what's on the other side of the forest.
As they reach the end of the forest and the visibility improves, they can see the west wall of a brick building. The wall has no windows, nor any sign it ever had, and no doors on this side. Concrete ground can be glimpsed around the corner to the south wall. There is a pair of LOKI mechs walking along the wall that has just passed the northwestern corner.
Philip drops in behind a tree as soon as he spots the mechs, crouching and aiming his rifle around the tree at them.
Jason takes a knee at the edge of the treeline, using a tree as some makeshift cover. "Mechs. Two of them." he says, glancing back towards the others, "Renala... What are our options?"
Damien lowers himself behind a tree, eyeing the mechs while staying out of sight. He deactivates the tech-armour, deciding that the glowing orange armour is not good for camo.
Leah follows suit, kneeling beside a tree and shouldering her rifle. She trains her weapon on one of the mechs.
Renala takes cover by another tree, near Jason. "I haven't tested it on a mech straight from the factory," she says, enabling her omni-tool, "but I can try give them a timeout if you want."
Jason sighs and turns to face Renala. "All I heard was 'nerdnerdnerdnerdnerd'. Try one more time, Renala. What can you do for us?"
Renala sighs. "I can try shutting them down from here," she says before groaning, "Fuck, you're worse than some of the managment back on Thessia."
Jason gestures towards the mech with one hand in a sort of 'get on with it' way. "Yeah, yeah. Just deal with 'em." he says, raising his rifle once again and training it on a mech.
"Some /unauthorized/ explosives would get us in," the turian grumbles, looking between all of them. "What? I'm just saying."
Renala starts tapping on the omni-tool, pointing it at the mechs, and sighs. "There goes," she says, starting the process on the two nearest mechs she can coonect to. "No guarantee it'll work."
Damien turns to look at the Turian, giving a slight shake of his head, before focusing back on the mechs.
"I bet you're real fun at parties." A shrug at the asari. "Better than anything we've got." He grips his rifle tighter and shuffles on his feet.
The mechs stop, standing still as their 'eye' interface fades out, one of them tipping over. Three seconds later, however, they get back to it like nothing happens and continue their patrol. A turian in black armor jogs around the southwestern corner, aiming his Phaeston around, but does not seem to have seen the Redrock team yet.
Renala smiles as she sees the mechs stop. "You don't think I can put my work away at part--" she raises an eyebrow as the mechs get up and gets back to cover.
Renala taps frantically on her omni-tool, looking through lines of output from her automated procedure. "Fuck," she mutters. "I saw nothing in the specs about a shutdown broadcast to all connected nodes."
Jason begins to move towards the mechs as they power down. As soon as they start back up, he backpedals, cussing softly under his breath. "Great... Bought me nearly enough time to get myself killed." he mutters, "What we-..." he pauses as the turian comes into view and puts a hand up, "Not unless he spots us, Phil."
Damien hides his arm behind the tree and powers up his omni-tool, flicking through some settings. "Ramp the power, highlight targets, program 'jump' routine...", he mutters to himself, clearly engaged with his settings.
Renala glances at Jason. "Told you it wasn't guaranteed to," she says, lowering her voice. "And it was my turn to endanger the team this time," she jokes.
Sir, I can make my Overload jump to one other target. If someone here has a silencer, we could take all three out.
"Really think a silenced weapon's gonna tear through armor and shields without any noise?" he asks. "We're gonna have to get loud."
Renala nods. "They may," she says. "If they were manually switched on, someone must be keeping watch on their status."
The turian is still searching around, but between the 20m distance and the wind, they can't hear each other. He lifts his hand to the ear, speaking.
Jason sighs. "Alright. Looks like we don't have much of a choice. Monroe, take out those mechs. I'll try to convince the turian to stand down... If he's not willing to listen to reason..." he glances over at Phil and nods, "Do your thing. Once the first shot is fired, there's no turning back. Calyx, Renala, Leah. If things get loud, proceed to the south-western corner. The rest of us will take the north. Keep in contact. Call out your targets."
Damien nods, aiming his omni-tool at the mechs and holding. "Phil, fire on my mark. As soon as I hit the mechs, take him."
Philip looks confused by the conflicting statements. He looks to his side for confirmation on what to do.
Jason glances between Damien and Philip. "What? No! If the turian refuses to cooperate, then take the shot. You understand? If he stands down, we restrain him."
"You got it." Calyx gives a turian salute and moves to stand beside his assigned team, waiting for the first shot. "Admirable," he puts in, looking at Jason. "Not too keen on killing turians, myself. I respect that."
Damien sends a surge through his omni-tool and fires an Overload at one mech, the settings dictating that the overload would then transfer to the next mech if it hits.
The first mech convulses as the electric blast hit it, and shuts off and falls over. The other mech survives the blast, but is paralyzed for two seconds before it aims around, on high alert. The turian starts jogging towards the northwestern corner, along the 50-ish meter long wall. The first mech shows no sign of getting back up.
Jason nods, "Take out the other mech!" he calls out before he rushes out of the treeline with his Revenant raised. "On the ground!" he orders loudly, sighting in on the turian as he steps towards him, hoping the others will drop the mech before it can fire, "We've got the building surrounded! Drop the weapon and we will not fire on you! Now!"
(Enemy) Turian raises his Phaeston, finger on the trigger. "Stop," he says. "You won't get past this building!"
"Dammit, if I know turians -- and I'd like to think I do -- his mind's already made up." Calyx sighs, watching, his own Phaeston raised.
(Enemy) Turian starts taking a few steps back towards the corner, but is not close to it. "Attack confirmed," he says before opening fire on Jason.
Philip squeezes the trigger several times, rapidly sending eight carefully aimed shots towards the turian's head - although each one is less accurate than the last.
Jason 's shields flicker as a couple rounds pepper him, but the mech goes down before it's able to do much damage. He glances over, but quickly returns his attention to the turian. "N-..." his words are cut off as the turian opens fire. Jason drops to a knee and squeezes the trigger, unloading a volley of rounds at the turian. The Phaeston rounds make short work of his shields, causing them to flash numerous times in rapid succession before flickering out.
Renala lays down fire in bursts, but it's clear she hasn't visited the range lately as it's not all that well aimed at 20 meters' distance.
Calyx opts not to fire, wanting no part in over-killing the fellow turian. He'd be dead, either way -- just a waste of a thermal clip, really. Calyx leans against the nearest tree and watches rather casually.
Victoria did not fire at the turian but she does activate one of her visor's functions to detect biotics.
(Enemy) Turian starts jogging back to cover as the fire makes short work of his shields and rounds starts hitting his armor. He was just about to reach it when a shot hit his unhelmeted head and he falls forward, limp.
Three mechs round the corner near where the turian fell and two rounds the northwestern corner. Two of the firstmentioned aims their shurikens at Jason while the other three aims at Renala, Damien and Phillips respectively.
Philip looks around as the turian falls, and, upon noticing the mechs taking aim towards him, he raises his rifle again, firing off a few hastily aimed shots before taking cover behind the tree.
Damien turns, flaring up his omni-tool again and targeting two mechs, attempting a similar tactic from earlier. He steps back, hoping his tech-armour absorbs the majority of any fire.
Jason stands up and begins backpedaling towards the treeline once again, firing short bursts at the mechs. A few rounds plink off of Jason's armor, and he falls to a knee, releasing a pained groan before standing back up and continuing his retreat.
Halisi sprints past Calyx and Victoria, taking cover as close to Jason as possible before starting to type frantically on her omni-tool. A moment later Jason's shields should recharge using Halisi's kinetic barrier generator.
The turian actually rushes forwards, firing his Phaeston and moving to Jason as he begins his retreat. When he falls, Calyx is there to haul him up. Shields or no, turian armor is made of sturdier stuff and he has a tougher exoskeleton to break through beyond that. A few LOKi mechs wouldn't be his doom. When Jason pulls back again, the turian is just behind him. He's giving covering fire for him and the doctor, now. "You hurt?"
Renala fires the remainder of her clip at one of the mechs nearby Jason, making sure not to hit him. She prepares biotic energy and sends off a throw after the clip runs out. Not many shots hit her shields, though the tree she's behind is taking a beating.
Jason continues peppering the mechs with machine gun fire as he returns to the treeline. "I'm fine." he says, focusing fire on a single mech.
Damien continues to slowly advance back, his armour wavering dangerously as it soaks up damage. He fires two rounds with his Carnifex, before fluidly moving behind a tree. He sighs, checking the status of his shields.
The two mechs northeast of the team fall easily to the overload and fire from Phillip, looking pretty much beyond repiar. One of the mechs near the other corner fall to Renala and Leah's fire, while Jason and Victoria takes the last one. It looks clear now, but it's doubtful this went unnoticed.
"That could've been easier." He lowers the rifle after a moment and turns to look back at Jason and Halisi. "Wonder how many more of those mechs they've got."
Philip keeps his rifle aimed at the corner for a few seconds before lowering it slightly and considering changing clip - he decides against it however.
Jason releases the thermal clip from his Revenant and slams a new one in. "Looks like surrender is out of the question." he mutters. "Move in! Search for entry points and call your targets!" he commands as he jogs towards the north-western corner and takes cover against the wall.
Renala sighs relieved as she steps out of cover, reloading her weapon. She starts making her way towards Jason. "Got it," she says and changes course for the southwestern corner.
There's another bland brick wall to see, the same length as the western wall. No windows or doors there, either.
Calyx follows after the two women, looking between either of them. He checks his Phaeston again once they're all on position. "So," he muses with his usual sarcastic tone. "You two ever been with a turian before?" Well, at least he was chatty. Or maybe that was a bad thing.
Renala reaches the corner and takes cover. "Yeah, we had another turian working for Redrock," she says. "But he just up and left." She leans out of cover to see what's along the southern wall.
Leah groans at Calyx' comment. "Unfortunately, I don't think he meant in combat." she mutters as she creeps up to the corner.
Calyx chuckles at her response, probably having meant something other than literally with one like that. He looks curiously at Leah but keeps any further comments to himself. "I'll take point," he offers.
There's a door along the southern wall, ten meters from the corner, and a garage door about 35 meters along the wall. There's concrete ground outside both doors and around the corner to the eastern wall.
Jason repeats the process once he reaches the northeast corner, pressing himself flat against the wall and swinging out with his weapon raised.
Renala nods. "I know," she mutters before enabling the comms. "Two entrances on the south wall," she reports. "One of them is a garage door."
Philip is moving after Jason with his weapon ready but lowered - he seems steady - probably happy to be out of the shuttle too.
Damien continues to follow Jason, carefully watching the surroundings again. His tech-armour glows, casting a light glow on the wall.
Calyx , being much taller than Renala, leans over her without stepping past her to peer around the wall, humming in thought to himself.
Leah lowers her rifle as she crosses behind Renala, and takes a knee a few feet across from Renala. She raises her rifle once again, and sights loosely between the two doors in case any hostiles emerge.
Renala | "Haven't even invited me to dinner, and already getting this intimate, huh?" she jokes, though keeps her voice low.
"We don't have the same proteins," he chuckles. "Ever seen a turian and an asari try and find a nice restaurant for a date? It's a disaster."
There are two doors near each other along the eastern wall, both near the northeast corner. Noone emerges from them, but the nearest one (5 meters away) has a green interface on it. No windows.
Leah gives the pair a sidelong glance. "How about we focus on getting through this alive, then you two can flirt to your hearts content, huh?"
Jason pulls back against the wall. "We've got two doors ourselves along the eastern wall. One is unlocked. We're going to prepare for entry." he reports to the asari over comms as he gives Monroe and the others a quick nod, "See if you can get those doors open, Renala. We'll try to hit them from two sides. Split 'em up." He swings back out and continues along the wall to the unlocked door.
Jason stacks up on one side of the door. "How do you fare with doors, Monroe?" he asks, glancing at the locked door, "Think you can get it open?"
Philip takes up position on the other side of the door, opposite to Jason. He readies himself for entry.
Leah swings out wide from the wall, keeping her weapon raised, so she can keep both doors covered while Renala works.
Damien holsters his pistol and moves to the panel, kneeling in front of it and activating his omni-tool.
"I think someone's jealous," he remarks in a sing song voice to Leah, but seems to agree. "Come on, ladies." The turian pulls out of cover and slips past the wall, Phaeston raised but still hugging it.
Renala makes her way around the corner, not acknowledging Leah's order. She runs over to the door and starts working on it if it's locked.
The red interface on the door that appears as Renala gets near confirms it's locked. It flickers and turns green, then goes back to red, then green again before the doors open to reveal a hallway with five doors along the left wall and two on the right wall.
The door Damien is trying to bypass unlocks as well, with less of a hassle and the interface turns green, but the door does not open by itself like with the other.
Damien stands back from the panel, drawing his pistol and aiming at the door. He nods once to Jason.
Jason glances towards Victoria and nods in Damien's direction. "Vicky, you're with Monroe. Phil, Halisi- stick with me."
Leah quickly moves up to the door Renala opened and takes a knee, using the doorframe as cover to conceal most of her body as she aims down the hall.
"Nice work," Calyx compliments Renala, sounding rather impressed. "Alright. Me first," he tells the two women. "Watch my back." Unless there's any objections, the turian starts heading inside, Phaeston hefted. He'd stop at the first door along the left wall, though keeps his weapon trained towards the closest one on the right.
The turian makes his way inside without issue, but the door furthest away on the left wall opens and an incinerate drone makes its way towards the turian from an armored asari's omni-tool before she draws her Predator pistol. A table with benches along its long side can be seen behind the asari merc.
Jason reaches looks over at Phil and gives a quick nod before reaching out and tapping the green interface. As soon as the door slides open, he swings into the doorframe with his rifle raised.
Damien nods and taps the interface, opening his door and stepping inside, raising his pistol and sweeping for threats.
The door opens to reveal a hallway, but the asari merc is not within view of them. The hallway streches just as long, with three doors on each side, the left ones near the corner while the right ones are somewhat equally spaced out along the wall.
The turian sweeps his rifle to the left as the doors hiss open, and he attempts to juke to his right to end up on the opposite wall before the fiery blast can hit him. Either way, he'd dig in with a shoulder against the wall to steady his aim, letting off a burst with his Phaeston at the woman if it's at all possible. "This would be the part where you get my hack!"
Leah remains at the door frame. She fires a shot at the approaching drone, but refrains from any follow-up shots as Calyx switches sides to avoid hitting him.
Victoria looked down the hallway ''We move along the wall and you check the doors on the right, I will cover the hallway.''
Damien nods, shimmying down the wall to the first door, pistol at the ready. He drops his voice low. "You going to take the left ones?"
(1) The door opens to reveal a lobby. Three couches with low tables before them are along the right wall and a desk is on the opposite wall. On the corner furthest on the left wall is a door and one just by it on the wall the corner leads to. A helmeted human woman rases her carnifex and aims at the door.
(3) The searing drone impacts with the door nearest the exit (on the right wall looking in) and causes a nasty scortch mark. He would not be able to get a line of sight on the asari, but Leah would if she leaned out of cover. The second door along the right wall's interface dissipates, but the door doesn't open.
Victoria walked into the hallway and clinged to the left wall, her avenger aiming down te hallway ''Guess I will have to get them.''
Philip fires four shots at the helmeted human before leaning back into cover as his rifle starts give overheat warnings. He ejects his thermal clip and starts fumbling for a new one.
Damien nods and thumbs the interface, opening the first door on the right side of the hallway. He swings his pistol inside, ready to target any hostiles.
Jason pulls back into cover around the doorframe. "Hostile sighted." he announces over comms before leaning out and firing a burst of six rounds at the woman.
Leah leans out from her cover once Calyx stops moving and unloads a handful of rounds at the asari. "Stop moving around!" she shouts at the turian, "You're gonna get yourself shot in the ass!"
Calyx gets in to cover and pats at his arms and shoulders as if he was on fire, letting out a small sigh of relief after discovering that he wasn't. "Quit looking at my ass!" he growls back, but keeps still and stays out of Leah's line of sight so that doesn't happen.
Renala leans out of cover and fires a burst towards the asari mercenary, as well. "Then stop waving it infront of us," she retorts.
(3) The asari mercenary takes some shots to her shields before getting back into cover. "Three by the southern exit, two are still outside," she reports into the comms. "Lock the fucking door, Teris!"
(2) The door opens and Damien will have a clear view of the shooter in the lobby, who stands at the receptionist's desk. She turns towards him and opens fire with her Carnifex, firing three shots.
Leah enters the hall as the asari pulls back, hoping to keep the pressure on her. "We've got one of our own." she reports over comms as she keeps her weapon trained on the door the asari is through.
Damien flicks both his arms up, firing his Carnifex at the shooter while launching an Incinerate at her. His armour collapses and he jolts back behind cover, a shot grazing his arm.
Philip finally gets a clip out of one of his vest pockets, slamming it into his rifle and leaning out from cover, keeping his rifle aimed at the desk in case the human behind it pops back up.
Jason enters the room once the 'receptionist' gets down, and hurries to the nearest cover, firing suppression fire at the desk as he moves.
Calyx nods to Leah as she joins him, pulling out of cover to keep his Phaeston trained down the hallway. He'd wait for the asari to pop out again, ready to take the shot.
(1,2) The shooter stumbles backwards after the combined fire takes her shields and the incinerate burns her armor pretty badly, some getting through. She drops her weapon, groaning. "Four... here," she says over the comms. "Overwhelmed."
(2) The closest door on the left wall (looking from entrance) opens and an armored turian steps through, immediately opening fire towards Victoria with a predator pistol.
(3) The entrance door on the southern wall comes to life and closes before the interfaze fizzles out; leaving Renala outside without any warning. The asari leans out of cover and fires a few shots towards Leah before quickly leaning back, her shields taking the shots.
Victoria rushes pass the door Damien was busy with and moved into the halfway point of that door and the next one, opening fire at the turian. She kneeled down and continued to fire bursts of 3-4 rounds at the turian.
Damien whips around, raising his Carnifex and firing the last of his clip at the new foe, crouching down to improve his accuracy.
Philip sprints into the lobby, towards the desk, trying to get a view of the burnt human guard over it, rifle raised.
Halisi takes up position by the doorway, glancing in. She raises her omni-tool and starts typing to ready an attack if needed.
Leah 's shields fizzle and pop as the asari's rounds make contact. She hurries towards the door on the left once the asari pulls back and presses herself against the wall of the door's alcove in an attempt at protecting herself as her shields recharge.
Jason follows behind Phillip, keeping his weapon trained on the second door as he approaches the desk.
Renala gasps as she snaps back, losing her Locust submachine gun, which ends up inside. "Renala here," she begins, speaking over the comms. "I'm locked out. Door's not responding to anything." She pulls out her other submachine gun, looking around.
"Sure would be a nice time for some /unauthorized explosives/!" the turian growls, quite tired of this cat and mouse. He pulls out or cover, moving down the hall at a brisk but careful place to surprise the asari when she leans out to fire again. Either with a hale of his own weapons fire or with a rifle's butt to her face.
Leah glances back towards the locked door. "Damn. Suppose that means we're locked in." she says over comms, "Nothing you can do to get that door open? I don't like having my back against the wall."
(Enemy) Turian2 moves to meet Victoria, attempting to ram into her as she runs. The fire he takes so far is absorbed by the shields
(1) The human sits with her back to the desk, clutching her burn wound. She is still breathing. The door Jason approaches is unlocked, and remains closed.
(2) The door the turian came through opens again and a pair of LOKI mechs seems to go through, both with Shurikens. They aim down the hall, but the turian being in the way makes them hold fire.
(3) The asari leans out of cover again, but is surpsied by the turian, and she desperatley fires off several rounds while taking a step backwards.
Damien lets out an uncharacteristic growl and runs down the hallway, powering up his tech armour. "Vicky, move!"
Philip seems unsure what to do. "Uh.. Wolfe?" He says, rifle still trained on the human behind the desk.
Renala keeps tapping away on her omni-tool. "Nope," she says. "Someone must have cut power to it. Try looking for a control room. Orders, Jason?"
Calyx grit his teeth and decided to tough through it, trusting his shields and his armor would absorb most of the blows. He charges forwards, seven feet of muscle and heavy equioment, to shoulder charge the asari in to the wall. Hopefully she isn't a matriarch or a justiciar or something crazy like that.
Jason turns on his heels upon hearing Philip, and spots the wounded woman. He sighs and makes his way over to her, kicking her weapon further away. "Cover the door." he says to Phil as he takes a knee beside the downed woman, giving a pained groan through gritted teeth as he does. "Call your team off." he says, "Nobody else needs to die. We're here to get some questions aswered. That's it. Your people fired on us first." he explains, resting a hand loosely against his side. As Renala's voice is heard over comms, Jason looks away from the woman momentarily. "We can't have you out there by yourself, Renala. You mentioned a second door, right? See if you can get it open. If you run into resistance, close the door and circle around to the east to rendevouz with the rest of us. If not, attempt to meet back up with Leah and Calyx."
Leah exits cover as the turian retakes the lead and follows him forward. She keeps her weapon trained at the bend in the hall to cover him, assuming he'll be able to handle the asari.
