#RedrockAgency – August 10, 2014

Second meeting with Uvena about the Aroste mission.

Uvena steps out of a sky-car just outside the gate, and makes her way through it. The car takes off again. Unlike last time, she taps on the door interface's equialent to a doorbell before opening the door. She is in her full set of armor today, as well, including the helmet.

The door soon opens, revealing Vaden sitting behind the desk in the reception. He appears to have been reading something, but his attention is now focused on the asari.

Uvena steps through the door, her gaze resting on the salarian. "I'm here to see Ms Vasquez," she says. "Is she busy at the moment?" She bows her head forward to take off the helmet, since she saw no reason to hide her face in here.

Vaden moves his hand to the terminal and types for a little while as he speaks. "No, she's expecting you. Do you need directions?"

Uvena thinks for a few seconds. "I think I remember it," she says, "but couldn't hurt to be sure, so yes, please."

Vaden nods and gets up from his seat, moving around the desk and to the door. As it opens he continues through it and towards the next one.

Uvena follows after the salarian. "You were at the inn that day, too, right?" she says, remembering the one-armed salarian. "Sorry for ruining your night out. I didn't mean to."

Vaden shakes his head. "Quite alright. Seems yours was worse regardless." He enters the corridor and moves up to Vasquez' door, tapping the interface to open it and stepping aside.

Vasquez is sitting at her desk, which is now once again covered on various documents and such. She tears her gaze from the computer screen as the door opens, nodding at Uvena.

Uvena smiles faintly at the salarian before stepping inside. "Good evening," she says with a nod as she takes a few steps towards her desk. "I presume you've made a decision?"

Vasquez crosses her hands on the desk. "Yes. We'll take the job. It seems like the kind of mission that suits Redrock. Now, about payment..."

Uvena nods, still standing up. "That's good to hear," she says, although she looks unsure. "So, how much will it cost?"

Vasquez says "250000", knowing full well that it is asking a lot considering the expected resistance.

Uvena raises her brows. "That is more than I expected," she admits. "I have 190,000 credits, and that's all I have."

Vasquez sighs, and studies the asari in silence for a moment. "I see. That is... unfortunate. I'm not sure I can ask my team to risk their lives for a sum like that, at least not with a guarantee for more credits if we face additional resistance."

Uvena sighs. "I can get more credits," she begins, "but it may take a while. Few days if I'm lucky."

Vasquez leans back in her chair, pondering the situation for a while. Eventually she nods. "We'll do it for 190." She says at last with a sigh. "This mission has sparked internal interest... so, it will do. But if we face unexpected resistance I'm going to expect extra compensation."

Uvena nods, a smile creeping up. "I understand," she says. "I will try to get more credits if need be. Thank you."

Vasquez picks up a datapad and types a bit before sliding it over to Uvena. "Sign that and we'll start preparations immediately."

Uvena picks up the datapad, studying it. "Do you prefer I remain hands-off?" she says. "Or should I come with you?" Unless it adds anything unexpected, she signs it.

Vasquez takes the datapad and rasies an eyebrow at the question. "Unless it's necessary for the mission I'd prefer to send only my own team. Less risk of complications in the field."

Uvena nods. "That's why I asked," she says, "but the offer's still on the table should you change your mind before leaving."

Vasquez leans across her desk. "Noted." She says before extending a hand towards Uvena.

Uvena moves towards the desk and reaches out to take her hand, shaking it firmly. "It's been a pleasure doing business with you," she says, "but remember why you're out there. I want information that can lead me to finding Rellis Darennon."

Vasquez nods again as she sits back down. "Of course. We'll find your information. You've made a good call coming to us."

Uvena takes a step back. "Was there anything else?"

Vasquez shakes her head. "No, that'd be all. We'll contact you on departure, as well as our return."

Uvena nods. "I expected so," she begins. "I don't have anything to keep busy, so if there's anything, just call." She pauses. "I'll see you again." And with that, she turns to leave.

Jason exits his office with a datapad in hand. He starts down the hallway towards Vasquez' office with his eyes glued to it, nearly walking right into Uvena. "Sorry-..." he begins as he stutter-steps to avoid crashing into the asari. "Oh... Hey." he says awkwardly upon realizing who it is.

Uvena takes a sudden step backwards, although it wouldn't have done much if he indeed crashed into her. "Good evening," she says. "I was just speaking to Ms Vasquez about the job."

Jason raises an eyebrow. "Everything alright...?" he asks tentatively, hoping that his little squabble with her hadn't caused the asari to reconsider hiring Redrock.

Uvena nods. "Yeah, she agreed to do the job," she says, "but she didn't want me coming with you."

Jason nods a few times. "Less variables to worry about. It's better for both parties this way." he says. He reaches up and rubs at the back of his neck, "I-... Spoke to V." he begins, but quickly corrects himself, "Vie-Annuh. She..." he sighs, "She was pretty upset."

Uvena sighs. "I told you not to tell her," she begins, "and expected as much. It's why I couldn't meet her."

Jason rolls his eyes. "If that's how you feel, then maybe you should've just stayed away." he snaps, "I don't know what happened between you two... But she deserved to know that you're here."

Uvena narrows her eyes. "You don't know, so don't pretend to undertand," she says. "I'm going to find the people behind this, and make sure they don't have the chance to hurt her again:" She looks down, taking a slow deep breath before adding, "But what's between us is beyond repair."

Vasquez emerges from her office with an annoyed look on her face. "Wolfe! Stop bothering our client!"

Jason goes to respond, but Vasquez interrupts. "I wasn't both-..." he sighs and shakes his head. "We appreciate your business." he says through gritted teeth, "Have a good day, Uvena." He gives Vasquez a frustrated look.

Uvena is about to hold up her hand, but decides not to get between the two. "You too, Wolfe," she says before continuing on her way out, putting her helmet back on.

Vasquez nods at Uvena and then grabs Jason's arm as soon as the asari is out of sight, draggin him towards her office.

Jason stumbles behind Vasquez as he's tugged along. "What's the matter with you!?" he groans.

Vasquez lets go of Jason with a slight shove, shooting him an annoyed glare. "With me?! This is the first client we've had in ages, and you seem determined to scare her off! The hell are you doing getting involved in her business?!"

Jason puts his hands up, palms outward. "I'm not getting involved in her business! Her daughter is my friend..." he grunts, "Look, it doesn't matter. We got the job, didn't we!?"

Vasquez doesn't seem particularly persuaded. "No thanks to you! I don't want to see anything like that again. It's fucking unprofessional, got it? We have to think about our reputation!"

Jason snorts loudly. "Our reputation? Which reputation is that? We're a group of hired guns. You think someone is gonna stop-..." he begins pantomiming a prude, holding his hands out before him limply, "...and say to themself, 'I'd really like to have someone killed... But I hear those people at Redrock are just mean!' "

Vasquez takes a step closer to Jason and presses a finger sharply against his chest as she speaks. "What I think, Jason, is that potential clients don't appreciate us prying into their fucking business. Our concern is the mission, nothing else, understood?" She now has a rather menacing, and to Jason, familiar, expression on her face, obvious despite the slight dulling of her left-side muscles.

Jason tilts his head back, looking up towards the ceiling as he lets out a frustrated sigh. "You know it's not like this is a regular thing, Linda." he says, leveling his gaze on the woman once again, "This one just happened to cross the line between business and personal... Don't be like this. We got the job. We're getting paid. No damage done."

Vasquez shakes her head. "That's not the point. She could tell other potential clients about you being all on her case about her daughter, or whatever bullshit you're bugging her about."

She's not gonna tell 'potential clients' anything, Linda. Calm down. Do you think people looking to hire mercenaries go to conventions or something? Do a little networking? Pass business cards around? Come on, who's she gonna tell?

Jason puts his hands on his hips and tilts his head to the side.

Vasquez opens her mouth to say something, but then just bites her lower lip in an attempt to contain her anger. A moment later she says through gritted teeth. "Just-... just fuck off and go do something useful." She turns away from him and heads back to her desk.

Jason puts his hands out at his side and takes a few steps behind the woman. "It turned out fine!" he repeats, "Why are you so damn angry? You know you'd be doing the same thing if you were in my shoes."

Vasquez stops and turns around, her right hand clenching into a fist. "Jason... Get. The. Fuck. Out. I don't give a shit about your asari friends, I'm trying to run a business!" She's looking utterly furious in a way she hasn't in a long time.

Jason stops in place as she turns around, almost expecting to get slugged at this point. He flinches and takes a couple steps back. He stares at her quietly for a few moments, biting his tongue as he decides whether or not to push the issue any further. After a short pause, he points at Vasquez. "That was unprofessional."

Vasquez grits her teeth and reaches for her coffee mug, throwing it in Jason's direction - not really aimed at him though. "I said GET OUT!"

Jason calmly steps to the side and watches as the coffee mug sails past him and crashes into the wall. "Destruction of property." he announces with a nod, "Definitely unprofessional." He sighs and turns towards the door. He stops just short of the exit and looks over his shoulder, "I'm gonna order some food." he says nonchalantly, as he's been dealing with her temper tantrums for years and they barely phase him at this point, "Think the Respite has varren kebabs. Want some?"

Calyx | In the midst of all of this, a turian, Calyx, entered the building, clad in his worn, black-painted armor, rifle on his back and pistol at his hip. The explosive ordnance he tended to carry around was left behind for this little interview. Wouldn't do him any favors if his potential employers though he was there to blow up the place. His helmet was off, showing his steely complexion and his distinctive lack of face paint, hard, yellow eyes taking the place. Now what? He looked around and spotted a chair, easing in to it with a slight creak, as it seemed it wasn't built for a turian of seven feet tall. He cleared his throat and decided to wait.

Vasquez shows no sign of aknowledging Jason, instead starting to type rather aggresively on her recently repaired keyboard, gaze darting across the screen.

Jason shrugs, "Tell ya what, I'll get you some varren kebabs." he says with a nod before stepping through the door. A few seconds later, as he nears the end of the hall, he can be heard shouting. "Jasper! Someone left a mess in Vasquez' office!"

Leah enters the lobby from a door behind the receptionist's desk. She's dressed in a pair of form fitting jeans, a hooded jacket, and black boots. She stops in place as she spots the turian and glances back into the room she just came from. "Uhh... Hi. Can I help you?"

He looked up at the girl, then down and around at himself, probably realizing how ridiculous and not-intimidating he must've been in the small chair. Calyx cleared his throat again and stood tall, nodding slowly and making his way over. "Uh. Yeaaah. Interview?" he asked, quirking a brow-plate.

Leah looks towards the front door, a bit eager to get home, but gives a short nod. "Of course, follow me." she says. She turns on her heels and returns back through the door she came from.

"Uh-huh." He eyed her a moment and glanced around again before padding after the woman, armor plates making small, grinding noises as they went along. Wasn't much else to do but follow, then.

Jason passes by Leah and Calyx. The orange glow of his omni-tool surrounds his forearm as he places an order for pick up at the Respite. "Potential recruit?" he asks idly as he walks by the turian without taking his eyes off the haptic interface, "Sure hope you're professional." he mutters as he continues towards the exit.

Leah rolls her eyes, doing her best not to pay any mind to Jason. She continues into the hall way and proceeds towards Vasquez' office. "Chief Vasquez will be interviewing you." she says, "I'm guessing she knows you're coming?"

"Someone has to be," he answered without flinching, having apparently heard. Jason's comment wasn't very professional! But Calyx hadn't sighed anything yet, and he didn't have to be. The turian continued along, rolling his shoulders at Leah's questioning. "If she's doing her job right. Thanks."

Leah stops just outside of Vasquez' office and raps her knuckles against the door. "Well, here we are. Good luck." she says, offering the turian a friendly smile.

Vasquez hasn't taken her eyes of the computer terminal as the door opens. She simply gestures for Calyx to take a seat at the chair in front of her desk. She's wearing her gray Redrock uniform, and her hair is in a ponytail. The broken coffee mug lies in shards to Calyx' right.

Calyx nodded and watched Leah go again before wandering in and looking at the woman and then her office. Calyx stepped on something with a crunch, taking one step back and looking down at the shattered mug beneath his feet. "Nice." He swept the shards away to one side with his foot before stepping forwards again and taking a seat. The turian leaned back, clicking his mandibles together. "So."

Vasquez eventually moves her gaze from the screen to the turian. "Mr. Vadris, I take it?" Her voice still carries a somewhat frustrated tone.

"Yeah, that's right." He perked his brow again, letting out a low hrm. "This a, uh, this a bad time?"

Vasquez lets out a sigh and shakes her head faintly. "No, no. Let's see... I'm Chief Vasquez, head of the Redrock Agency. Tell me why I should hire you." She says, and leans back in her chair, moving one hand up to her temple - it collides with her implant, causing her to let out a frustrated grumble.

Calyx let out a slight grumble, leaning back again and lifting a hand to rub one of his mandibles. "Well, let's see," Calyx started. "I am -- er, well, I was -- argh, you're really going to make me do this?" The man shifted in his seat. "This is a mercenary company, right? I'm ex-turian military, fifteen years. But who isn't? I specialized in explosive ordnance, and I worked EOD for C-Sec up until the Geth showed up about two years back. Guess I should've put that on my resume. It'd look damn good."

Vasquez suddenly looks a lot more interested. "You were on the Citadel when the geth attacked?" She says as she sits up a bit in her seat.

"Yeah, that's right." He nodded. "Did my fair share of fighting, too. After that, though, I put my notice in. Slavers and pirates, I can deal with. Sovereign..." The turian shrugged. "Lot of people died that day."

Vasquez nods slowly. She seems to consider saying something, but instead glances at her screen, reading briefly and then asks: "Can you follow orders properly? Are you secure in your explosives knowledge? We can't have explosives going off at the wrong time, endangering someone on the team."

Due to one player leaving, this session was cut short with the assumtpion the interview went well.
