#Hospital – February 4, 2015
Jason enters the hospital in civillian clothes for once, running a hand across the top of his head as he puffs out his cheeks and blows out a large breath of air in anticipation of any news. He strolls across the lobby, looking for any sign of Halisi.
Vasquez | Halisi is nowhere to be found in the lobby. The holographic receptionist is the only one present, aside from a grumpy-looking bearded man sitting in a chair, reading a month-old magazine.
Jason glances at the grumpy man, and grumps at him. He approaches the holographic receptionist and waves a hand in front of it. "Uhhh.... I'm here for an update on the condition of a patient. Dr. Halisi called me in?" he asks, unsure of how, exactly, he should be interacting with the hologram.
Ilyna arrives in a sky-car outside, paying a little more to arrive in a hurry. She pays the taxi driver and starts making her way towards the entrance. She's dressed in a casual dress of a dark-gray color. Ilyna hasn't gotten much uninterrupted sleep due to the all-nighter, and looks the part.
Vasquez | The receptionist nods and glitches halfway off the holographic display as it processes the request for a moment. "Of course. She's with the patient now. Down that hallway." The asari figure gestures to its left.
Jason sighs loudly and clasps his hands together. "Right.... Uhhh thank you for your-...." he pauses and raises an eyebrow before realizing he's thanking a hologram. He turns on his heels and, just as he's about to start off down the hall, notices Ilyna. "Thanks for coming, Ilyna." he says, his grim expression softening a bit, "Sounds like the doc is waiting on me."
Jason grunts. "That makes two of us." he says, as if the dark circles beneath his eyes weren't evidence enough. He breathes into his hand and takes a deep whiff. A grimace crosses his face as he realizes the smell of alcohol is still present. "I just want this to be over with. Seems like she can never catch a break." he adds as he starts down the hall.
Ilyna falls into step on Jason's eight, patting his shoulder. "Me too, and I'm willing to do all I can to make it happen," she says. "Too many good people has gotten hurt already."
I don't plan on letting this go any further than it already has. As soon as I know Linda is stable enough for me to put some distance between myself and this hospital without worrying, we're going to end this. One way or another.
Jason takes a deep breath and grunts. "Not a fucking clue." he sighs as he continues down the hall, looking through doorways as he goes for any sign of Vasquez or Halisi, "We've got his brother, though. I'm ready to hand him over if it'll end this. If that's off the table, then I'm sure I can squeeze a lead out of the fucker."
Ilyna frowns. "His brother?" she says with a raised eyebrow. "If somebody took my sister, I'd... I would stop at nothing, too."
Jason stops in place as he hears Halisi's voice. He takes a moment to pinpoint the direction it's coming from before heading straight towards the door. "It's not like these are good people in the first place, Ilyna. They had captives. A kid. We had no intention of hurting the salarian. He would've been returned unharmed, but the psychopath wasn't willing to play ball." he says plainly as
he places a hand on the door frame and swings into the room. His eyes dart around, looking for Vasquez.
Ilyna nods. "I understand," she says, though doesn't add anything as she follows Jason into the room.
Vasquez is in the bed, propped up with a few pillows. She's looking at Halisi, who's standing in the middle of the room with a pair of paddle-like devices with lamps on them. "Okay. Looks like your motor func-..." The doctor is interrupted by Jason's entrance, turning to face him. Vasquez seems briefly confused before realizing that Jason and Ilyna have entered the room.
Jason takes a few steps in, allowing Ilyna room to enter. He looks over at Vasquez with a goofy grin on his face and breathes a deep sigh of relief to see her conscious (And alive. And, presumably, not braindead). "We gotta stop meeting in hospitals like this, beautiful. It's getting old."
Ilyna enters and moves to the side, watching over the room from where she stands. She allows herself a chuckle, but doesn't say anything. She nods a greeting to Vasquez, though.
Vasquez sighs, but slowly a faint smile spreads across her face. She doesn't say anything, but pats the edge of the bed. Halisi places the lamps on a table and looks over the two guests. "You got here quick."
Jason makes his way over to Vasquez' side and parks his ass on the edge of the bed. He places a hand on her arm as he watches Halisi. "Had plenty of reason to. How's she doin', doc? Can we get her out of here?"
Vasquez places her other hand on Jason's arm - she looks quite content for once. Halisi opens her mouth, it takes a moment before she responds. "Actually... yes. She's doing very well, thanks to a donation of state of a state-of-the-art neural implant." The doctor smiles at the couple.
Jason leans his head back and stares up at the ceiling as he lets out a deep sigh. "You have no idea how fuckin' happy I am to hear that." he says with a slight chuckle, "Shit... I was expecting you to tell me she'd bark for the rest of her life or something. Good news is a nice change of-..." he pauses for a moment and furrows his brow, "Donation?" he asks, "Way out here?"
Vasquez punches Jason's side lightly at the mention of barking. Halisi nods. "Yes, it... was certainly unexpected, but welcome. It was a donation by Bozeman Cybernetics - part of a PR campaign from what I understand."
Jason grimaces and rubs at his side. "Well, I'm sure as shit not going to complain. So... Where do we go from here? When can I get her out of this place?"
Halisi: Well, I need to run more tests... but assuming all the tests come back alright you'll be able to go home tomorrow.
Jason nods a couple times. "Sounds great. Guess that means I should get all the hardcore partying out of my system tonight, huh?" he jokes.
Jason frowns. "Everyone is alright. Renala took a few hits, but she'll be okay. Unfortunately, we're no closer to ending this bullshit." He glances over at Ilyna, "That's why she's here. I'm done waiting around for them to slowly pick us apart. I'm gonna reach out to Rellis and offer his brother back to put an end to all this. If he isn't willing to play ball, then it's time we take the
Ilyna nods. "I spoke with Renala this morning," she says, "she looked... scared." She chuckles. "She said she will be staying here for a while, though."
No point in holding on to him any longer anyways. We did what we needed to do. Contract fulfilled. At this point it's just pointless posturing. I'm just not sure Rellis is willing to negotiate anymore. If that's the case, then we start kicking in doors.
He never seemed interested in anything but retrieving him. Let's hope it works. We... we can't afford to keep going like this.
I'll get a message out to him tonight. All we can do is wait and see. In the meantime, it's probably best if we make sure they're not able to get to you.
Jason glances over at Halisi. "Any chance we can get her moved to another room? Under a different name?"
Vasquez ponders Jason's suggestion in silence while Halisi replies. "Of course. Things are fairly calm right now, I should be able to keep an eye out as well."
Sounds like a plan. I'll get the others together to discuss a gameplan while I wait to hear back from Rellis. In the meantime, I'm gonna step on Jelvan a bit. See if I can get anything out of him. We know he doesn't know where Rellis is. Or he's the best liar I've ever met. But there's no way he doesn't have a few locations for us to start with. We'll find that son of a bitch eventually.
Ilyna thinks for a moment. "I could sleep for the rest of the day when I get home, and stay here all night," she offers. "I'm sure Va'ynna would appreciate that too."
Jason cocks his head to the side to face the asari. "I appreciate the offer, Ilyna, but I can't ask you to spend all night here. We've got employees. I'll station one here. Besides, I'd prefer to have you around in case Rellis gets back to me. We may need to move in a hurry."
Ilyna nods. "I couldn't sit on the sidelines any longer," she says. "This Rellis need to be stopped." She looks at Jason. "It's no problem, really. I'll be able to come on a shorter notice if Rellis chooses a poor time to get back to you."
Jason rotates his shoulder, stretching a bit. "I don't know... At this point, I wouldn't mind shoving my boot up that fucker's a-... Cl-..." he begins sounding it out, "Cloo.... Cloaca.....?"
Vasquez shakes her head. "It's not worth it. If you haven't noticed... we're getting our asses kicked."
Are we? Really? I mean, let's tally the score here. We took down one of his bases. He took down ours. We're all still alive and kickin'. His men can't say the same. I'd say we're doing just fine. Fuck him.
Jason glances towards the floor. "I said I'd try and fix this... You know I wouldn't put our people in danger just to prove a point. But this is out of our hands right now. Rellis is holding all the cards. We may not have a choice."
I know. I'll be looking in to other options. But for now... let's just hope he's content with getting his brother back.
Jason nods a few times. "Yeah. I'm gonna try and get a handle on things, alright? How about you try and get some rest?"
Vasquez seems to consider for a moment before nodding. "Just... don't do anything drastic without running it by me. I'll be out of here soon, you know."
Jason sighs loudly. "And to think, I was that close to changing the wallpaper in our room over at the Respite." he says, a small grin returning to his face, "You'll know everything I know before I make any moves, Linda."
Vasquez shakes her head with a grin and leans forward, giving Jason a quick kiss. "Go sort things out. I'll be fine here."
Jason tosses an arm around Vasquez' shoulder and gives her a quick squeeze. "I'll send someone down here soon." he says before standing from the bed. He looks over at Halisi once more and repeats his request, "Make sure you move her. Not only for her sake, but for everyone in this hospital's sake. If they don't know she's here, then the place isn't a target."
Ilyna nods to Vasquez before following Jason out. "Are you planning on gathering the others today?" she asks. "I could stay here or at the Respite in the meantime if so."
Jason stops out in the hall and gives a nod as he turns to face Ilyna. "I'm gonna head over to the Respite and send out a few messages. If it's not too much, would you mind sticking around here until I can send someone by to watch over Linda?"
Ilyna also stops, facing Jason. "I'll do that," she says with a tiny smile, "but please tell your agent to meet me in the lobby... and send me a message beforehand if it's not someone I know."
Jason gives a nod. "Will do. They should be here within the hour. Once they arrive, come find me at the Respite. I'll send out a message to Rellis, and we can get everyone else up to speed. Hopefully we can come up with a plan in case things go south."
Jason reaches over and gives Ilyna a pat on the shoulder. "Take care. Send me a message at the first sign of trouble." he says, "I'll see you soon." He turns on his heels and starts down the hall towards the exit.
Ilyna nods. "Yeah, I will," she says. She follows him for a few moments until making her way to where Va'ynna is.
