#Miner'sRespite – May 1, 2015
Victoria walked down into the Respite, wearing a simple t-shirt and long pants. She walks up to the bar and takes a seat.
Jason enters the Respite, fresh from his visit with Ilyna. Wearing a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt with the right sleeve fastened shut, he begins making his way across the room towards the stairs, not paying particular attention to much.
Aylena walks over to Victoria once she takes a seat at the bar. "Hello," she says. "What can I get you?"
"A rum and coke would be nice." Vicky gave a quick look around and saw Jason "Hey Jason!" She gave a quick yell to the man.
Jason starts up the stairs, but quickly glances around when he hears his name called out. He gives the familiar woman a smirk and starts over towards her. "Hey Vicky..." he says, "Sorry, I'm not trying to avoid you. Just didn't see you there. A lot on my mind right now. How you holding up?"
Aylena walks over to find the bottles, returning with them a short moment later. She finds a glass and fills it with ice before mixing the drink. She then puts it on the counter before her. "Good afternoon, Wolfe," she says.
"Better than most. Have not thought about what happened. Don't want to." She looks away for a second, then looks back "Anyway, remember how I talked about my ship?"
Jason gives Aylena a polite nod as he slips onto a barstool beside Vicky. He grimaces as the woman mentions the events that recently transpired, but nods at her mention of the ship. "Yeah?"
Jason winces a bit for a moment and begins to drum his fingertips against the counter. "I-..." he begins, but pauses, "Vicky, I know this is important to you. But... We're hurting here. That last job knocked the wind out of our sails and left us dead in the water." he sighs. He bites his lower lip and stares off distantly for a few moments before continuing, "I doubt you could afford
to formally hire Redrock. And we're just not in a position to do favors that won't help the company right now but-... maybe there's a way we can both benefit from this..."
"I know Jason, but with this ship we can take more off world jobs. I know we are hurting, but this might be a good way to get back on our feet." She said to the man in an honest tone.
Jason nods slowly a couple times. "I'm not disagreeing with you, Vicky. I'm just more concerned with the state of the company and justifying this to the others. They don't work for free, ya know? I need you to work with me, here." he says. He goes quiet for a moment, avoiding eye contact as he proposes his offer: "Let me write up a contract. We do this, and Redrock gets
legal ownership of the-... uhh... ship. You stick with us for two years, and then rights will revert back to you. Consider it a way for the company to regain the losses incurred for taking an unpaid job." He establishes eye contact once more, hoping to read the woman's face.
Victoria nods after he finishes the deal ''That sounds fair in my books, I will probably stick around longer than that.'' She gave a little cough and mumbled something under her breathe.
Victoria rubs a hand through her hair ''Well, that I got somebody here now.'' She got rather nervous near the end of her sentence, she was rather surprised by this herself.
Jason smirks a bit and tilts his head to the side. "Oh?" he questions, resting his remaining elbow on the counter and propping his chin up with it. "Do tell."
"Well if you must know..." she pauses for a second to have a quick sip of her drink "Well, me and Va'ynna are... thing. I guess that is why I have not thought about that last job." She said in a rather blunt tone.
Jason stares at Vicky for a few moments, blinking a couple times. "V...?" he asks, clearing his throat immediately afterwards. A smile slowly crosses his lips and he bursts into loud laughter. "You and-... and V!? Ho-ly-shit. Well fuck me sideways, congratulations, Vicky! Never saw that one coming!"
Jason reaches out and pats Victoria on the shoulder as he chuckles at Aylena. "Hey now, go easy on her, Aylena! She's~in~love~!" he hums mockingly.
"If it means I can get my ship back, I will be happy. Also about that, got a skeleton crew for it ready as well."
Jason sighs as his laughter dies down. "I'm not promising anything. I'll pitch it to Ilyna. We'll check out our finances and see what we can manage. I'm gonna need you to send over whatever you have on the ship, though. Any information will help in making a final decision."
Victoria nods ''Alright boss, I will get it all sorted. But I got a small team within the ship ready to help us.
"One of them is my father figure. I told him to help out with the coup, so I had a chance of getting my ship back."
Va'ynna emerges through the door to the back with a tray containing some lunch items. She sees Jason and Victoria and nods to them, but proceeds towards a table without interrupting them.
Jason tilts his head once more, not entirely buying it. "I get that you want to trust him. But isn't loyalty sort of at a premium with pirates and-..." he pauses once Va'ynna makes her appearance and begins grinning at the asari. "I hear wedding bells in your future, V!" he shouts out.
"I trust him more than most, Jason." When he shouts out to Va'ynna, she facepalms and then gave a wave to Va'ynna.
Va'ynna blushes fiercely, but she is facing away from them. She stops for a moment, and continues towards the table once she composes herself.
Jason continues to watch Va'ynna for a moment before chuckling to himself and shaking his head. With a deep breath, he returns his attention to Victoria. "And I understand that, Vicky. But I need to trust him. It's my team's lives that are at stake. What can you tell me about him?"
"Former Alliance and knows how to fight. He told me that the new captain is an ass and makes thing worse than what they have to be.." She stops for a second "Look, Jason I can tell him to meet you if you like."
"Maybe 30, I dare say some of them could be convinced to leave and let those loyal to an ass die. We got at least ten inside, krogan included."
Krogan? That'll help. If we do this, it'll have to be a small team. We don't have many people we can spare right now.
"Yeah, I know. It should be a rather fast job. Plus we have some weapons on the ship." She pauses for a second "Could use some of them as payment for the guys."
Jason gives a nod. "We'll take everything onboard. Put it all to good use.... But I still have to talk this over with Ilyna before I give the all-clear to you. I brought her on-board to help me run things. Can't just go accepting jobs behind her back."
"Well, Austin and Krath won't give up their gear easily. Just saying." Hears some sound next to her and turns to see Va'ynna, she smiles at the asari.
Jason smirks. "Anyone on our side is an ally. I'm not going to leave them high and dry." he says. He leans forward, looking past Victoria, and gives Va'ynna a wink.
Like I said, Vicky. Let me go over it with Ilyna first. I need to make sure we can afford it, alright? But... Let's just say I'm interested.
"Well, being interested is better than nothing." She took another sip of her drink "Have you heard anything about the others?"
Jason shakes his head. "I-... haven't been in a good place since we got back." he sighs, "Just have a lot going through my head right now, ya know?"
Victoria nods ''Yeah, hopefully this job can get us back on track.'' She stops for a second ''Get our minds off of it and onto future sucess.''
Jason lets out a deep breath and shakes his head. "Hard to get us back on track if there's no money coming in. Any chance these guys may have some valuable cargo we can turn over?"
Va'ynna places a hand on Victoria's shoulder. "Be nice," she says, though she doesn't sound all that serious.
Jason bursts into laughter. "What!? It was a joke! Plus, most of those are positive points, right? Everyone loves a good song... Or orgy."
Jason glances at the hand-foolery and smiles. "Awwww, look at you two. So cute. I just wanna pinch your cheeks and shit."
Victoria puts an arm around Va'ynna's shoulders ''I know, clearly the best couple on Aite.'' She said in a cheery tone.
Jason 's smile slowly fades away and he begins to look uncomfortable. His gaze lowers to the counter.
Victoria looks at Jason and frowns ''Sorry, Jason. I... you know I did not mean to bring up any bad memories.''
Va'ynna remains quiet, and doesn't wind an arm around Victoria in turn. She looks a little embarrased.
Jason shakes his head a bit. "No-... I know, Vicky." he says, lifting his head and forcing a smile, "It's just-... She's out there somewhere. I can't just push that out of my mind..."
Jason nods slowly. "Exactly the reason I'd like it to be in Redrock's hands. But what I want and what I'm capable of pulling off aren't always the same." he sighs.
Va'ynna hums. "I... understand," she says, "but... Redrock has been... very resilient even with all the... horrible things happening."
Va'ynna smiles. "I... have a lot to... thank you all for," she says. "It would be... sad if you were gone."
Jason nods slowly. "I know... But that's reality, I suppose. It'll come eventually. It's the nature of the job, right?" he asks, forcing a weak smile.
Va'ynna takes a few seconds to respond. "I know, but... it's just...," she says, then shakes her head. "I should... enjoy the time I have with you, not... think about that."
Jason leans across Victoria and whispers very loudly for dramatic effect, "Come see me when she leaves."
Va'ynna can't help but giggle, despite her best effort to stifle it. Her cheeks goes purple at the loud whisper. "Um... I... I didn't mean...."
Va'ynna grips Vicotira's arm gently, the one nearest her. "Be nice, Victoria," she says, although she doesn't sound angry at all.
Pip enters alongside Shyva and spots the one armed wonder again. "What happened to him?" She asks Shyva.
Shyva'Nahl blinks and tilts her head at the three. "Erm... I... I d-don't know. He had two last time I saw him..." she gulps and huddles a little closer to Pip. "I k-kinda don't wanna know... lets get our drinks and h-head upstairs, hm?"
Jason gives a shrug. "Hoping to speak with Halisi and get all this handled soon. Can't take back a pirate ship with one arm... Not without a hook or something, anyway." he jokes, "Maybe a pegleg? Do pirates still have parrots?"
Fuckin' hell, man. You two are just too damn adorable for me. I might puke if I don't get a drink soon.
Shyva'Nahl shakes her head at Pip. "No." she says, and that's all it looks like she'll say on the matter. "W-What do you wanna drink?"
Pip frowns slightly, but doesn't press. "I'll just have a beer," she says as she begins making her way over to the bar.
Aylena makes her way over to him since she's not currently serving anyone. "What can I get you?" she says. "Rum and Coke?" She still haven't put back the bottles she poured Victoria's drink with.
Shyva'Nahl walks with Pip over to the bar and waits. "G-Gonna give you the b-best back rub after t-that dinner." she says, leaning against the human.
Aylena finds a glass and fills it ice. She mixes the drink and hands it to him. "Just doing my job," she says with a soft chuckle.
Jason accepts the drink and takes a sip. He glances over at Victoria and Va'ynna, then at the new couple approaching the bar. He sighs and immediately takes another large sip of his drink. "Thanks Aylena."
Shyva'Nahl patiently waits for a bartender as she stands with Pip. "M-maybe we should get a six pack. S-Save the return trips."
Aylena nods. "You're welcome," she says. She doesn't give any further response as she's waved at by arriving customers, and she makes her way over to them. She allows herself to wink at the quarian with a knowing expression. "What can I do for you two today?" she asks.
Shyva'Nahl blushes a little at Aylena's wink. "Erm... a s-six pack of beers a-and... and a small t-turian brandy." she says with a small smile.
Shyva'Nahl leans into Pip. "F-First time for everything." she says. "B-Besides. F-first real date. Something to c-celebrate."
Va'ynna kisses her on the cheek before lifting her head. "Maybe I should... get back to work," she murmurs.
Victoria gives the asari a kiss back on the cheek ''Might be an idea. I should get going to get this stuff sorted as well.''
Pip kisses the side of Shyva's mask and slips upstairs, deftly swiping her keycard to Shyva's room. "I'll need this," she says as she heads upstairs.
Aylena emerges from the back with a six-pack of half-liter cans, and a bottle that's slightly more than that with turian brandy. She places it on the counter. "Shall I put it on your tab for now?" she asks.
Jason raises his glass to Victoria and Va'ynna. "Oh, sure. Run off and leave the one armed man to fend for himself." he jokes.
Va'ynna stands up. "I... don't mean to," she says. "I... just... really don't have a break now, but... there wasn't much to do."
Jason forces a smile at Victoria's joke. "I-... I know you're joking but-..." he stops and shakes his head, "...Never mind. You take care Vicky. Get that info over to me and I'll go over it with Ilyna, yeah?"
Shyva'Nahl hmms and looks at all the booze in front of her. "Erm..." she picks them up and tries to carry them, but shakes her head. "Yeah, please." she says. "T-Thank you."
Victoria stands up ''Alright, I will get it sorted as fast as I can.'' She gives Va'ynna another quick kiss on the cheek ''See you later Vay.''
Aylena crouches down and opens a cabinet, and drags out a plastic bag. It is barely big enough for what they ordered, and has the same logo as the sign above the entrance door. "Give her my regards," she says while bagging the booze gently. She puts the bag down on the counter. "Have a nice evening."
Va'ynna smiles and is still for a second as she hesitates, and she gives a quick hug before making her way around the bar. "I'll see you," she says with a glance over her shoulder on her way to the back.
Shyva'Nahl smiles warmly at Aylena. "T-Thank you, boss." she says. "I will. Y-You have a good evening too." she grabs the bag and walks passed the group. "Aw..." she mumbles when she sees Va'ynna and Vic. "Y-You go girl." Then she passes by and heads for the stairs.
Jason waves Victoria off and watches her head over towards the stairs before giving Va'ynna a goofy grin.
Jason shakes his head, grin still plastered across his face. "Just.... surprised. I guess. I'm proud of you."
Va'ynna fidgets with her hands. "Thank... you," she says. "I'm too, but... we talked it over and... not knowing where any of you were for ten days... it made me really realize what you all meant to me." She pauses, and a smile creeps up. "Renala must... have grown tired of how many times I asked for... news."
Jason gives a short chuckle. "Well, we're not going anywhere, V. We're family." he says, giving a bit of a sheepish shrug.
Jason sighs and slugs back the rest of his drink, grimacing at the burn. "But I'm gonna let you get back to work. Matter of fact, I've got a bit of work to do myself."
Jason gives a nod and stands from his seat. He works on fishing a credit chit out of his pocket for a few moments and slides it across the counter. "Take it easy, Aylena." he calls out as he starts out towards the stairs. "Keep an eye on V! No hanky-panky in the backroom with Vicky while she's on the clock!" he teases.
Aylena chuckles and takes the credit chit. "Va'ynna takes her job seriously," she says. "It's the human girl I'm more worried for." It's hard to tell if she's serious. She charges the amount and puts the chit on the counter.
Jason grabs the stair railing and chuckles loudly. "You should worry! Vicky is trouble with a capital TROUBLE." he calls back, obviously teasing as he disappears up the stairs.
Aylena takes the credit chit again and puts it under the counter. "Noted," she says, followed by a mutter about a running theme.
