#Miner'sRespite – August 14, 2015

Va'ynna is currently tending the bar alone. There's not many patrons about. (Gisle)

Skythix cautiously entered the Respite, looking around at all the people inside before fully making her way indoors. After her long conversation with Jason she was wary about how running into him again was going to be. It also felt like everytime she came back into the the Inn there were new people to see. I far cry from what she was used to at her usual stomping grounds. She somehow

managed to get away with not having a hangover the next morning which she thanked the spirits for. She wandered over to the bar and sat down near where Va'ynna was hanging about. "Hey Va'ynna. Did you get the brandy bottle I brought back down from last night?"

Halisi briefly looks up from the datapad she is studying, her gaze trailing the new arrival for a moment before returning to her work. (Tyranniac)

Va'ynna nods. "I did," she says with a small smile. "Would you like a glass of that now, or... were you just curious?" (Gisle)

Skythix shook her head and raised a hand palm out. "No thank you. I was just making sure. I had left it on the bar counter rather late at night and wanted to make sure that some drunk didn't come over and take it." She looked around the room and could have sworn she caught the eye of a human looking at her. "Then again, I'm pretty sure anyone that took my brandy by mistake would have

deeply regretted it." She said with a soft laugh. "You wouldn't happen to have seen Wolfe, did you? I was talking to him last night and wanted to make sure he was okay."

Va'ynna ponders it for a moment. "I... haven't seen him pass through here today," she says, "but it wouldn't... be the first time I've not noticed him." (Gisle)

Skythix nodded slowly in response. "Yeah I can see that." She tapped her talons on the bar counter and contemplated a drink. "I've also been trying to get in touch with more Redrock people. You wouldn't happen to know anyone else I could see? Perhaps someone in here who I might not know?" She looked over her shoulders as if expecting someone to pop up behind her.

Va'ynna looks around the room. "I... don't know," she says. "I know... quite a few of them, but... I don't see anyone in here that's with the agency." She pauses, fidgeting a bit. "That I know is in the agency," she corrects herself. (Gisle)

Halisi seems to overhear the talk of the Agency, causing her to look up from her datapad again, eyes moving between Va'ynna and Skythix. (Tyranniac)

Skythix blinked and tilted her head to the side at the asari. "What do you mean?" She could tell Va'ynna looked distracted or nervous but didn't know why. "Does this fall under the category of questions I shouldn't be asking?" She said with a chuckle, trying to make a joke out of it.

Va'ynna shakes her head, tensing up a bit. "What... what I mean is that I don't know... the names of everyone in the agency," she says, "just many of them." (Gisle)

Skythix reached her hand out across the bar and softened her expression in a way of making peace. "It's okay, Va'ynna. I'm not trying to interrogate you or anything. Just trying to make chit chat." She said with a soft tone and a small smile. Did her own demeanor really give off that vibe to other people?

Halisi puts her datapad down, sliding out of the booth and heading over to the bar. She smiles at the asari. "Va'ynna, you don't know I'm with Redrock, hm?" (Tyranniac)

Va'ynna doesn't take the hand, but smiles slightly. "It's... fine," she says, and then looks at Halisi. "I... thought you worked at the hospital?" (Gisle)

Halisi lets out a short laugh. "Also true." (Tyranniac)

Skythix turned her head at the new addition to the conversation. She spread her mandibles in a smile and bowed her head sligtly to the human. It was indeed the same person that she saw before looking her way. "You're a member of Redrock as well? Then it's nice to meet a new colleague." She offered the hand the was outstretched to the asari before now to the human. "Lieutenant Skythix

Teratus. I just joined recently through Jason Wolfe."

Halisi shakes Skythix' hand with a brief smile. "Good to hear Jason is still recruiting. Redrock needs people." After a moment she adds: "Lieutenant? You were an officer?" (Tyranniac)

Va'ynna nods, but doesn't add anything as to not interrupt the other two. (Gisle)

Skythix nodded back to the human. "That's correct, ma'am. Just recently out of the service. If you ask what I'm doing in the Terminus on a human colony, well... It's a question I've been asking myself for a few weeks now." She said with a chuckle.

Halisi shrugs. "No judgement here." Her friendly mood seems to fade a bit as she sits on the edge of a barstool. "So... you've talked to Jason then?" (Tyranniac)

Skythix nodded her head again. "Yes, ma'am." There was something about her that changed the longer thet spoke but she couldn't tell exactly what it was. "I've spoken to him and he's told me that Redrock has been hurting for people as well as a few other stories about the company."

Halisi cringes very faintly. "Stories about the company...?" (Tyranniac)

Pip exits her truck after parking up near the Respite. She rolls her shoulders and pulls up the collar on her jacket as she makes her way into the Respite and towards the bar, blind to the other patrons of the establishment.

Gregorij 's gaze follows Pip as she enters the Respite. He sips his whiskey, not removing his gaze from the human. (Tyranniac)

Skythix tilted her head gently to the side. "Well, he didn't give me specific data just that their last mission didn't go well at the cost of a few people and headquarters." She shrugged her shoulders.

Halisi 's gaze falls to the bar. "Didn't go well is... an understatement." (Tyranniac)

Pip halts at the bar, slipping onto a stool. She glances about, catching sight of Gregorij. She nods over to him once, remembering him from earlier. She raps her fingers on the bar out of habit.

Gregorij waves Pip over. (Tyranniac)

Pip shrugs and stands from the bar, making her way over to the older man. "Sup," she says, quirking an eyebrow.

Gregorij takes his time to respond, taking another sip from his drink and then rubbing his temple for a bit with a groan. "You remember I told you I had a job for you?" (Tyranniac)

Pip folds her arms and nods. "Yeah, I do."

Skythix looked off to the side as if in thought. "I haven't gone out to see the wreck personally but he tells me that construction had begun to repair it. I'm hoping it'll be complete soon. He also told me of a missing member, Vasquez."

Halisi sighs. "Less member and more... boss. And his girlfriend. It's... an awful situation." (Tyranniac)

Gregorij nods towards his diability mech. "This is Anna. She needs your help." (Tyranniac)

Anna looks at Pip and waves politely. "Hello." it says in a mechanical tone. (Tyranniac)

Skythix sat ridgid, trying to measure up the human's reactions to be genuine. "Yeah, he explained as much. I told him I'd be willing to help in anyway I can. I may be fairly limited when it comes to finding a person but once she's located, I'm more than qualified to conduct a full-scale search and rescue."

Pip looks at the mech, humming as she gives it a once over. "Hiya," she responds, flashing it a smile. "I can help her, no problem. I can take her to my workshop tonight, have her fixed by tomorrow." And by workshop, she means garage with tools scattered about. But he doesn't need to know that.

Gregorij actually gains a faint smile - not a common sight to be sure. "Very good! I will have to stay with her, of course. To make sure she feels safe... and that she's treated well." (Tyranniac)

Pip nods. "Alright, that's fair." She regards the mech again, tilting her head slightly. "Haven't seen a model like hers before. Least not that I can remember. Where'd you get her?"

Va'ynna is currently taking the orders from another patron. (Gisle)

Anna speaks after this, the mech, modeled after an asari, caries no expression, and its voice is bland. "Owner presence is not required for repair and maintenance. You should rest instead of overseeing, Greg." (Tyranniac)

Gregorij hushes the mech. "Bought her with my own money... God knows I wasn't going to get help any other way." He takes a large sip of whiskey and grunts. (Tyranniac)

Halisi nods at Sky. "We're all happy to hear that, I think." (Tyranniac)

Pip hums. "Not bad." She looks back at the man, smiling faintly. "I'll give you the address for my shop. You can come round in the mornin' before I start work. Just so you can keep an eye on your gal."

Skythix smiled slightly at the acknowledgement. "What is it that you do at Redrock? I think Va'ynna mentioned something about a hospital? Actually, I don't think I've even gotten your name."

Gregorij nods, seemingly pleased. He pats Anna's limp arm gently, looking at her the way one might a spouse. "Hear that? You'll be fine soon, Anna." (Tyranniac)

Halisi blinks. "Oh! I'm so sorry! I'm Dr. Halisi. I work at the local hospital, and I also patch up Redrock's people in the field." (Tyranniac)

Pip smiles warmly. "I'll take good care of her."

Skythix looked a little surprised at hearing she was a doctor. "A doctor, eh? Good to know the agency has at least someone of competence looking after them. For the future though, I hope you know a little about turians, too. Not that I'm looking for bad spirits or anything but you never know." She shrugged her shoulders with a half grin.

Halisi offers a reassuring smile. "No need to worry, my xenomedicine is fine. It's a necessity when you're treating patients out her in the Terminus. (Tyranniac)

Skythix flashed a toothy smile back at her. She silently wondered if there was a tactics advisor or a training instructor as well for Redrock. She could easily fill those rolls for a PMC or was that just her cockiness showing. She looked to the side to browse the rest of the patrons of the Respite and ended up seeing a woman she recognized from their last encounter talking to a man and

with a mech nearby no doubt. She let out an auidible sound of disgust and turned away from their direction.

Pip glances around the room and spots the Turian from earlier. As she turns away, she quickly flicks her the finger in a calculated, mature manner, clearly.

Skythix wasn't looking when the human expressed her disgust at her. Ignorance was bliss in this situation. "So tell me, doc. I've been trying to find things to do in my spare time here in Freedom Falls and I can only workout so much. You know of any places of interest?"

Halisi shakes her head with a smirk. "I don't really have any free time between the hospital and the Agency. Can't help you." (Tyranniac)

Skythix let out an exagerated sigh and slumped her shoulders. "Of course you don't. I mean, why would the doctor be any fun?" She gave Halisi a sidelong look with a twinkle in her green eyes.

Halisi gives a mock wounded expression. "My apologies for staying busy keeping people alive." (Tyranniac)

Skythix laughed loudly in response. "No no, I completely understand. When I was back on a ship I rarely ever had free time. Then again my time was always dictated by someone else to do a task. Now that I have nothing to do... Well, It's rather boring I have to admit."

Va'ynna can't help but giggle at the doctor's joke, looking a bit embarased. She walks over to the nearest terminal and starts typing on it. (Gisle)

Halisi flashes a smile at Va'ynna before returning her attention to the turian. "A lot of the locals spend their free time here, I know that. Always someone to talk to I guess." (Tyranniac)

Pip checks her omni-tool as it bleeps. "Aw, piss." She quickly keys in her address to Greg and shrugs apologetically. "I gotta get back. So much for my drink. Do you want me to take her now, or you drop her off with you in the mornin'?"

Gregorij nods. "We'll both come by tomorrow." (Tyranniac)

Pip nods back to him. "Alright. See you both then," she says with a small wave as she exits the Respite, shooting daggers at the turian's back.

Skythix found it hard to believe that there wasn't much else to do in this town. Maybe she just needed to make her own fun. "Not even a nightclub or something? A firing range maybe?" She caught movement at the corner of her eye and saw the robot lover glaring at her. She simply rolled her eyes and looked back to Halisi. "Something's gotta keep the lawless occupied." She joked.

Gren stomps into the bar, clad in his usual battle armour. The krogan glares around as he makes his way over to the bar, leaning against it in his usual angry manner.

Halisi ponders this for a moment. "There is a firing range. I know some people go hunting in the forest. I think there's a small entertainment complex near the spaceport with a few VR suites." (Tyranniac)

Va'ynna looks up at the loud stomps, visibly nervous. "Can... can I get you something?" she asks him. (Gisle)

Gregorij seems puzzled by Skythix' exhange of glares with Pip, but doesn't dwell on it, returning his attention to the whiskey. (Tyranniac)

Skythix raises her chin slightly. "Oh so there is a firing range. I'll have to check that out sometime. Maybe there's a VR combat sim there too. I'm sure I can set the high score easily." She gave a quick laugh but immediately stopped. The echoing foot steps cause Skythix to turn quickly to see the source and is displeased to see a krogan entering. She should have figured she'd run into

them eventually, out in the Terminus especially. She doesn't look upset with the krogan but she is noticeably more alert than before.

Ryncol.

Gren nods to the asari, glancing to Halisi and the turian. "Great, another one," he growls, scratching the long scar on his face.

Halisi makes sure to give the krogan some room. (Tyranniac)

Skythix mearly glances in the direction of the krogan but doesn't turn to look at him. She knew better than to antagonize someone who was as likely to start as a fight as he was to drink more alcohol. She refused to rise up to his probings. "I'm still trying to get to know everyone and Redrock but it's hard when the central facility is still being repaired."

Va'ynna nods and goes to get the Ryncol, looking a little stressed out. She finds a bottle among a few others on the shelf, and returns with it. She finds a mugh big enough for most of the bottle's content, and pours most of it into it, trying her best not to grimace at the smell of the strong liqour. She puts the mug and bottle on the counter before the krogan and takes a step back. She's looking very uncomfortable. (Gisle)

Gren grabs the mug and takes a long, greedy swig from it, slamming it down on the counter. He looks at the asari and pulls out a credit chit, flicking it over to her. There's enough on there for the drink a few others. "Here." He's surprisingly less hostile to the asari that when he first arrived, most likely out of respect to the owner of the bar.

Va'ynna barely catches the chit, and she puts it below the counter. "I'll... charge it when you leave," she says, "so... I know how many drinks you're paying for." (Gisle)

Gren grunts in response, pouring the contents of the bottle into the mug. "Fine. Where's your boss? Wanna check up on her." He downs the contents of the mug.

Va'ynna frowns. "I... haven't seen her in two days," she says. "I have tried to contact her, but... she hasn't answered." She fidgets with her hands. (Gisle)

Gren frowns, leaning forward. "She do this often?"

Va'ynna shakes her head. "No," she says. "She... always inform me when she's leaving for more than a few minutes." (Gisle)

Do you think that other asari has something to do with this? The one I shot?

Va'ynna hums. "I... guess she could," she says, unsure. "I haven't seen her again, but... security would know for... certain if she's been seen by the cameras." (Gisle)

Gren taps a finger on the bar, frowning. "This stinks," he says. "All that shit with the shootout, and then she just ups and disappears? Too coincidental."

Halisi doesn't seem very interested in the conversation, and soon slips back to her booth, and her datapads. (Tyranniac)

Va'ynna nods. "Br-...Security, is... looking into it," she says. "I don't know if he has learned anything new, though." (Gisle)

Gren snorts. "I'll be surprised if he finds anything useful."

Va'ynna raises an eyebrow. "You... know him?" (Gisle)

Skythix watches the pair talk at the corner or her eye, not aware that Halisi had left. When the realization struck her that she was alone she looked more sullen and withdrawn, keeping to herself to mostly stay away from the krogan.

Gren grunts. "Fella named... Steve?"

Va'ynna nods, not giving a verbal response. (Gisle)

He looks like the kinda guy that's all brawn and no brains... But I've been wrong before.

Va'ynna frowns as she sees a patron signaling for her attention. "We'll... see what he finds," she says. "If... D'Inea returns, I'll... tell her you were looking for her." She then makes her way over to serve that other patron. (Gisle)

Gren nods, giving a fierce glare at the turian sat barely a few stools from him.

Skythix was curious about the conversation that was going on between the krogan and asari. She had been listening intently but once the krogan glared at her, she looked away instinctivley. She didn't want to start anything but it seemed the krogan disliked her for no reason. She didn't hate krogan but she'd been in enough fights with them that she was very reserved with them. "Hello."

She said without looking directly at him.

Gren continues to glare fiercely, rapping his fingers against the counter. "You're military," he growls. "Or ex."

Skythix turned her head minutely, not looking the krogan directly in the eye. "All turians are either military or ex-military." She stated plainly, keeping her voice as neutral as possible.

Gren continues to glare, leaning against the bar. "Maybe I was wrong," he says with a snarl. "At least those in the military could look me in the eye when talking. What are you, some kind of reject? An exile?"

Skythix was trying her hardest not to rise to his challenge. It went against everything she was to back down but she knew she couldn't do it in the Respite, regardless of her chances with a krogan. She turned her head completely to look him dead in the eye, her gaze unwavering. "I finished my service just like everyone else. Turians aren't exiled. Do I look like a quarian to you?"

Gren snorts

No, they're tougher to break than a turian. Whine less too when it happens.

Skythix almost fell for that insult. She was about to respond to him but she kept her mouth shut. "I thought krogan were strong enough to open up cans easily enough." It was her turn to fire back. She just hoped she wasn't going to have to defend herself.

Gren chuckles, scratching his scar dismissively. He reaches behind his armour, just above his shotgun. He pulls out something wrapped in cloth from a small compartment in his armour. He slides it across to Sky, a wicked grin on his face. "Open it."

Skythix looked down at the cloth before looking at the krogan. She hoped that the security in the Respite was good enough that they'd come to her rescue if she needed it. This whole this was a bad idea. She reached a single hand out and braced herself for a severed hand, a tooth necklace, or something equally horrific. She would immediately pull back if it was something she found

unsavory.

Gren laughs as she unwraps it, pointing a finger at the severed fringe of a turian. "That's what happened to the last turian to act like some fucking badass in this place. So you better watch it." He grins viciously at her.

Skythix scowled slightly but masked it immediately as it came up. She'd seen and held much worse. This was, however, a helpful reminder of why she hated krogans. "The fact that you carry that around with you everywhere is either disgusting or sad." She turned her head towards him, unphased by the gross trophy wrapped in the cloth. "Or maybe you loved the turian it belonged to and its

all you have left of them?" Her tone changed to a mocking sadness.

Gren takes it back and wraps it up again, shoving it back into the compartment. "He shot people in this bar," he states simply. "So if his friends ever come back, they'll see what happens to those who threaten this place." He glares at the turian. "Mature. Turians are really getting weaker. It's sad, really."

Skythix gave the krogan a confused look. She hadn't even done or said anything for her strength to be in question. Then again, it was impossible to argue with brutes with small brains. "So you did a nice thing. Good job. Welcome to the rest of the galaxy." Sarcasm dripped from her voice. "Buy yourself a ryncol and get over it." She shook her head and rolled her eyes. "I'm pretty sure

its just your krogan brain that's getting weaker. Sooner or later you're gonna start forgetting how to even put your boots on." She had a mystical tone to her voice as if she were telling a tale of fate to come.

Gren hums. "Alright then," he grunts. He flares with biotic energy and springs forward with surprising dexterity for a krogan, throwing a fierce haymaker at the turian.

Skythix could instantly feel the tingle of biotics in the air and she knew it wasn't her so someone else was flaring them up. Since the krogan was the most threatening thing next to her, she threw herself off the stool and dropped onto the floor on her rear. She crawled backwards and away from the krogan before hoping to her feet again. Something told her that those turians from before

were hit first.

Gren unholsters his Claymore in one smooth motion and aims it at her with one hand, drawing the large knife from his chest plate with the other

All swagger, no substance.

Skythix didn't have anyway to defend herself against the krogan so she leaped backwards behind the bar to shield herself from the krogan. "Don't you have anything better to do?" She called from behind the counter.

Nope.

Gren holsters his claymore and sheathes his knife, not willing to shoot up the bar.

Skythix dared a glance from behind her cover and watched the krogan putting his weapons away. "You're a whole lot of hot air for someone with such a small brain." she taunted from behind the counter with a toothy grin.

No, I just like this place. I'd rather not shoot it up if I can help it.

Gren flares with biotic energy and throws a hand forward to pull the turian from her cover, his other hand gripped into a fist.

Steve steps through the back door behind the bar, giving a glance at the asari that's undoubtedly cowering behind the counter by this point. He's wearing his armor, but no helmet. "Outside." he demands with a loud sigh, raising his SMG and pointing it directly at the krogan. His other hand hovers over the Carnifex holstered on his left thigh. "Don't care which one of you fuckers

insulted the other one. You wanna kill each other, you take that shit outside." His finger hovers over the trigger.

Skythix flared up a biotic barrier from the attack at her, absorbing the pull aimed towards her. She thanked the spirits in her head when a human came out, most likely the security, to stop the fight. She remained planted on the ground with the barrier still up to protect herself, staring at the krogan in case he tried to do anything else stupid.

Gren looks at Steve with a bored look, staring at the SMG like it's naught more than a annoyance than a threat. "I would've started with the Carnifex first, Steve." He looks back at the turian with renewed interest now that he's seen her biotics.

Steve groans loudly and lifts the Carnifex with his left hand, sighting in on the krogan. "A krogan with a big mouth. What a shock..." he says sarcastically. He doesn't seem particularly threatened by Gren. Possibly somewhat due to the fact that he was here when Gren helped defend the Respite. "There's plenty of places to go if you're looking for a fight, big guy. This ain't one of

'em. Let the plate-face go, because I sure as shit don't get paid enough to deal with the fallout of killing two customers."

Skythix weakened her barrier slightly but ultimately kept it up. There was no reason to antagonize anyone anymore. The issue would be resolved, the krogan would leave, and she would leave soon after to her home. She continuted to stare at the krogan, only sparing one glance at the human to make sure he wasn't pointing guns at her.

Gren chuckles and nods to Steve, dispersing his biotics. "Alright. I won't kill her." He shrugs his shoulders, folding his arms across his chest. "But I ain't going either." He takes his spot back by the bar.

Steve lowers his weapons and gives a frustrated sigh. "Fine. Whatever. This is your one get-out-of-jail-free card, Gren." he says, gesturing towards the krogan with his Carnifex, "Keep your shit together, you understand? You're scaring off customers." He glances over at Skythix, narrowing his eyes on the turian, "And you. Get the fuck out from back here, you can't be behind the bar."

he orders. "I swear. Fucking nursery school."

Fine.

Gren would leave after a few more drinks, his trigger finger itching.

Skythix let down her biotic field and walked from behind the bar. "I can't believe you're mad at me for defending myself." She said in an unbelieved tone. "You take pride in letting krogan fight your customers and then letting them go?"

Steve tilts his head to the side. "Whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp." he says, "That's what you sound like to me right now. I don't speak 'whiner', sorry." he says, holstering his weapons back on his thighs. He steps over to the sink and begins to fill a glass with water. "I'm not here to choose sides, darlin'. I just keep the peace." He looks up and glances around with an exaggerated

expression on his face, "What's that? No fighting? Nobody dead? Well, shit, mission accomplished."

Skythix shook her head and groaned. "You don't have to take sides but you don't have to treat me--..." She stopped and threw her hands up in the air. "You know what? I don't fucking care. It doesn't matter what I say to anyone in this spirits forsaken town because apparently no one knows how to use their brains past primal functionality." She walked off towards the exit with a snarl on

her face. There was no point in arguing, nothing good would come out of it.

Steve snickers a bit as he finishes filling his glass with water. He turns off the tap and takes a sip as he watches Skythix exit the bar. He glances at one of the human patrons and gives a shake of his head, pointing towards the turian's back, "You believe that shit? Fuckin' plate-faces. Always so damn condescending." He gives a snort and starts back towards his office.
