#FreedomFalls – October 5, 2022

December 27th. It's biting cold on the way home from the Miner's Respite. The sun has long set, and the clouds cover the planet's usual strong moonlight. This is a central street, so there's more than enough light to go around from the windows and street lamps.

Va'ynna is wearing her heated winter coat and is leveraging that heat to its fullest today to keep herself warm as she walks alongside Victoria. The asari is a bit tired despite the more comfortable working hours and appears to be deep in thoughts.

Vicoria is wearing a light grey winter coat to fight off the cold weather, she keeps pace alongside Va'ynna. The human looks at the asari and sees she is thinking about something. "Penny for your thoughts, love?"

Va'ynna is a little startled when Victoria speaks to her, a questioning hum being the first sound from her until her mind takes a second pass over her words. "It's...," she begins, keeping her eyes on the pavement ahead. "I'm sorry. For... thinking you don't care.... I... brought my drawing pad to work so... I could look at it alone."

Vicoria turns her attention back to the pavement, listening to Va'ynna words. "I mean, this relationship stuff is still new to me. I spent most of my life only caring about myself, but I'm trying my best to be better." She gives an honest answer to Va'ynna first statement. "So, what did you find on the drawing pad?" Trying to put the focus back onto the original topic.

Va'ynna shakes her head slightly at the question and reaches into her jacket's pocket, but she does not take anything out of it. "It's... not about what I found, Victoria," she says. "Some of them... takes me back to when I drew them, and... those times weren't always good." She sniffles a little bit, maybe from the cold air.

Vicoria nods listening to Va'ynna, but upon hearing the sniffle Vicky decides to move a little closer to Va'ynna and wrap an arm around her shoulders to try and provide some extra warmth. "If you wanna talk some more about those times, I'm here." She pauses for a moment. "But I dare say there was some good times back then."

Va'ynna is quiet as she slows her pace to lean into Victoria's side-hug. There is a slight nod, though, and the ghost of a smile shows up. "Of course," she said, "it's... just that I... if I hadn't... relied on these things too much, maybe... I wouldn't have fallen behind, and... Uvena wouldn't have had a reason to... send me away."

Victoria remains silent for a moment, thinking about her next words. "It's... tough to say but we can't change the pass." A somber moment of silences from Vicky as she pauses for a moment. "We can look back and think about how differently things could of been, but..." She turns her head to face Va'ynna and smiles. "If we could change the past we might not be here at this moment."

Va'ynna hums uncertainly as she listens to Victoria. "I had a comfortable life," she said. "It would be dull... to someone like you, but... I lived for the long nights with my friend." She sighs. "Nari... took that from me, and-and... now... I just... I couldn't go back to... that life." She takes the gloved hand out of her pocket and brings it up to wipe under her eye. She looks at the ground as they pass by where

the kidnapping happened, outside the turian-owned convenience store.

Victoria stops in her tracks and turns to face Va'ynna, wrapping both of her arms around the asari to give her a hug. She releases her hold on her to look at her. "You do have friends here, that would do a lot for you." A smirk appears on her face. "And if you want to have a long night with a friend, how about we go home and watch some vids until we pass out? I might not be your old

friend, but I will try my best if you want something like those old times."

Va'ynna leans into the hug, frowning as it is released. She is reluctant to the idea as it first leaves Victoria's mouth. "That wouldn't... be the same," she mutters, and glances to the side, in the direction they're headed. "but... maybe it... doesn't have to be," she muses aloud. She looks a little anxious as they continue to stand around, and grabs Victoria's hand to start walking again.

Victoria lets Va'ynna lead the way, the smirk fades for a moment remembering where they stopped. The smirk returns to her face hearing the last words from Va'ynna. "I mean, it's me. Of course it wouldn't be the same. But I can promise you, we will both have a great time." A cocky tone in her voice.

Va'ynna increases the pace a little bit as they get going. Both to get away from that place, as well as the cold, biting air. "I don't... doubt that," she says, "and I have... worked there in worse shape than what one... movie night could do."

Victoria keeps up with Va'ynna's new pace. "Well then, lets make our way home." She says. "How about a little bet, like first one to go to sleep has to do the dishes for the next two nights?"

Va'ynna raises a brow at the bet, but she does nod after considering it for a moment, and a tight-lipped smile shows up. Getting her thoughts out there has reduces the weight on her shoulder a little, but this is probably not the last time Victoria hears about her lost time. "If I fall asleep first, you... have to carry me to bed," she says, "so... I win either way."

Victoria raises an eyebrow at the carrying to bed statement. "Oh, so does that mean if I fall asleep first you will carry me to bed?" The smirk on her face becomes a smile. "If that is the case, guess I am passing out first."
