#Rellis'Contract – February 2, 2014
Victoria may notice the pull of the singualrity as she passed the door to the men's restroom, though in due time to not get too near.
Zaylus enters the security room behind him, noting the interior before quickly forming up with Jason at this new entrance.
Jason activates comms once more. "Like I said... Be there as soon as we can. Until then, keep your shit together." he says, a combination of anxiousness and frustration in his voice. He hits the green panel and once again swings into the door frame, rifle at the ready.
(Enemy) Salarian frowns, looking around the kitchen once more for Kim. "Show yourself," he says, "and you won't get hurt!"
The door Jason opens leads to the hallway, with the entrance Renala and Kim went through being the first door to the left. Just opposite their dor is another door. To the right and down the hall is the intersection where Renala is.
(Enemy) Asari fires a longer burst towards Renala before her singulairty dissipates, though it goes out without any further effects.
Victoria could feel the pull of the singualrity, then when it she does not feel the pull of the field anymore. She quickly moves up to grab Renala and pull her back into cover.
Renala can't really do anything but take the hits. Most are stopped by her shields, another few misses, but two finds their way to her abdomen and connects. She drops down unceremoniously onto the floor face first, clutching her stomack as Victoria pulls her out. However, she is still concious.
Zaylus swings into the hall, muttering a curse as the singularity releases its grip and dissipates. He proceeds further inside, careful not to cross in front of Jason's path as he moves into position to see further down the intersection.
Renala grits her teeth, a few drops of purple left in her path as some blood seeps through the holes in her armor.
Jason steps out into the hallway and swings his rifle to his left, then sweeps to the right, spotting Renala and Victoria. The sight of blood alarms him, but unable to do much at the moment, he continues down the hall beside Zaylus and takes a position beside him at the corner.
The asari is in the front of the group of hostiles, while the rest have retreated to the opposite intersection's corner (except the two in the kitchen).
(Enemy) Asari fires a burst of her Locust towards the corner where the turian is, mostly for suppression. "There's more when that came from, you know," she sneers. "Give up!" She pops the empty clip and puts in another.
Victoria sees the blood ''Renala, where are you hit?'' She asked getting ready to apply medi-gel to the area.
Renala rolls over with a groan, and taps her finger lightly onto the holes on the armor that already have a bit of purple around them. "Th-there," she whispers. The plates covering it have to be removed to apply the gel properly, however.
Kim shifts slightly at her hiding spot and prepares to make a desperate attack. While moving as slowly as she reasonably can, she prepares to move. After several seconds of waiting, she decides it's time and springs out towards the Salarian as her stealth field begins to make a small groaning noise.
Zaylus turns away from the suppressing fire, pressing further against the wall. He glances back at Jason. "I never would have guessed they'd have guns! I guess we should just go." He shrugs, immediately before swinging around the corner and firing several quick shots directed to where the voice originated, pulling back behind cover after a couple seconds.
Jason jerks back as the gunfire hits the corner. As soon as Zaylus leans out to fire at the hostiles down the hall, he makes a go for the opposite side of the hall, attempting to take cover on the corner opposite of Zaylus.
(Enemy) Salarian reacts as he hears Kim's steps and fires off half a dozen shots with the predator while stepping back, though he is cornered before he could get far.
MaleTurian aims towards the commotion, but can't really fire at his fellow. "One of the humans got a tactical cloak," he reports over their team's comm channel as she discerns the shimmer of the imperfect invisiblity.
Asari takes Zaylus' shots and they bounce off her shields, while firing a third of her Locust's clip at Jason as he runs for the other side. "Want another singularity, huh?" she asks while preparing her biotics, still in plain view, as she steps towards the door opposite to the one Kim entered through.
Jason only takes a couple of Locust rounds as he's only exposed for a second or two, allowing his shield to shrug them off. "No thanks, sweetheart." he says as he presses against the corner opposite of Zaylus, "Think we've had just about enough of your shit for one day." He swings out and levels his Revenant on the asari, holding down the trigger and sending a hail of automatic gunfire down the hall.
Victoria finished applying the medi-gel to Renala's wounds. She then starts to slowly drag Renala further away from the intersection. ''Lets make sure you don't get carried away again.''
Renala nods, offering a weak smile at the human woman. "Thank you, Victoria," she whispers, sounding pained, but relaxes as the medi-gel's anesthetic effects start kicking in.
Kim can't sidestep all the bullets despite her attempts to be as hard to aim at as possible. The first two break her shields and a third finds its way into her shoulder, but she ignores it and tackles the Salarian right after her cloak starts to dissipate. Her attempts are mostly to try to wrestle him between her and the turian as well as to keep him from being able to use his gun.
Zaylus returns to firing after a second of the Revenant hailstorm, hoping perhaps to overwhelm the asari with two targets.
(Enemy) Asari takes quite a few shots of the machine gun fire as she slams her hand into the panel on the door. Her shields go down and she takes a few hits to the arm and shoulder before making her way into the room, closing the door. She did drop her Locust, however.
OtherHuman leans out of cover and fires at Jason as the asari retreats into the room. She has a Predator pistol. "Is someone near the armory?" she asks over the comms -- though on a channel only her team is on. "Can't really do much with this piece of shit. Sis? Kralan? Anyone?"
Turian targets Zaylus, also using a predator pistol. She is leaning out of cover on the oppsoite intersection as well.
Salarian tries to wrestle back at Kim, but his physical strength fail him and he ends up as her hostage. He drops his gun, as well.
MaleTurian holds up his weapon as he takes a step closer. "Let him go!" he demands. "It doesn't need to end this way."
Renala's gun, another former part of the little 'solar system', is lying a foot away from the door to the garage.
Victoria puts Renala against the wall next to the female's restroom door. ''No problem.'' She stands up and goes to the door of the men's restroom. She then opens to door to make sure that there was an easier way to get to Kim.
The men's room is nothing fancy. There are four stalls along the opposite wall, two urinals on the left wall, and a pair of sinks on the right wall. There are no other exits, and the ventialtion duct in the ceiling looked too small for anyone to crawl through -- nor did it have a clear affordance of opening or any means of getting to it without a stepladder.
Jason releases the trigger and takes a couple of Predator rounds. The first finishes off what was left of his shields, and the second catches him in the pauldron, sending him off-balanced slightly and giving an audible 'zing'. Jason pulls back into cover and gives his shoulder a quick once-over, confirming that the projectile didn't penetrate his armor, and settles against the wall. "Come on! Do you really want to do this?" he shouts, "The krogan is dead and our people are holding the rest of your friends. Drop your weapons and nobody else has to get hurt." he says, hoping his slight lie might coax the others to give up.
Jason glances across the intersection at Zaylus and gives a shrug, as if to say 'Worth a shot, right?'
Kim pulls the Salarian's arms behind his back and holds him in place. She takes a step back as the Turian steps forward. "Don't even try it," she states with a calm coldness. "I know how to kill with my bare hands, so if you value your friend's life in any way, you will stay put."
OtherHuman leans out of cover, though she doesn't fire her weapons. "Why are you here?" she asks. "And why the hell should we take your word on it?"
Salarian still tries to wrestle out of Kim's grip, but his physical strength is bad, even for a salarian.
MaleTurian aims his Predator pistol towards Kim. "Your shields are out, I could drop you dead with one shot," he says. "Let go of him and put your hands where I can see them."
Jason gives his weapon a once over, checking to see how many more shots his thermal clip can support. "That's a good question." he shouts, "And I don't really have much of an answer. But the alternative is we finish sorting this little issue out with our guns... And I'm not sure if you've noticed, but mine's a whole lot bigger than yours. Toss your weapons into the hall, come out, and walk towards us with your hands up and I give you my word that no harm will come to you."
''You would think they would give up after they heard we kill that krogan.'' She said silently to herself.
Kim smirks and holds onto the salarian's wrists as hard as her injured shoulder will allow. "If you wanted to risk it, you already would have tried."
Renala slowly gets up, wincing a little at the pain from the throw and the fall. "That bitch is dead when I get to her," she mutters, mostly to herself, as she looks around for her Locust.
Zaylus continues to absently look over his gun, leaning up against the wall corner. "Now I don't know about you," He begins, calling out with a slight turn of his head. "But that sounds like a damn fine deal to me. And I have a sneaking suspicion it won't last forever. So, why don't we all listen to the nice man and sort this out like gentlemen?" He says in a hardly restrained taunting manner. "Oh, and the ladies. Don't forget the ladies." He adds with a smirk.
Jason looks towards Renala as he waits for a response, and mouths the words 'You okay?' with a look of concern.
(Enemy) Turian drops her weapon, and calls out over the comms. "Not going to lie, Kalus," she begins. "We're not going to win this fight. Orders, commander?" A few seconds pass before she nods to herself. "Then we surrender," she adds over her team's comms before stepping out of cover, dropping her weapon.
MaleTurian lowers his weapon and places it on the floor before standing back up. "It's your lucky day, human," he says annoyedly. "Fight's over. Let go of him."
Kim shifts both of the salarian's hands into her good hand. She activates her omni-tool and turns her comms back on. "Is it true? Did they surrender?"
Renala frowns as she looks at Jason with a titled head, still standing by the wall. "Ugh, my back," she says. "Don't worry, I'll live... I think."
Jason gives a sigh. "Just hang in there. You're gonna be fine." he says to Renala as the hostiles begin to voice their response, "See? We're almost out of here... But we've still got a job for you." he says, but doesn't elaborate for the moment. Instead, he swings back into the hallway, only lowering his weapon once he confirms that they're following orders. Upon hearing Kim over the comms, he activates his own, "Looks that way. Let's get them secured and finish our job." he says.
Kim nods and releases her hold on the salarian, then re-activates the comms. "Two more of them in here with me. A turian and a salarian. You know which room I'm in, right?"
Victoria let her locust aim at the floor, and looked at Jason and Zaylus ''Someone should check on that asari.''
(Enemy) Asari opens the door and walks out into the hallway, closing it behind her. She has removed the armor pieces covering the hand and right shoulder, and there are traces of a hasty medi-gel application on her gray undersuit. "You better make good on your word, though," she says as s he takes a step towards him. There are no weapons on her person.
Zaylus refrains from completely lowering his weapon as the asari reappears in the hall. He steps around the corner, nodding his head in the direction of the door she just closed. "What's in there?" He asks bluntly.
Jason reactivates his comms, "Not a clue." he says. He begins removing a few more ties from his hardsuit and tosses a few towards Zaylus and a few towards Victoria. The door startles him, causing him to raise his rifle, but he quickly points it back towards the ground as he realizes the asari is no longer a threat. He begins issuing orders to the others as Zaylus interrogates the
asari. "Alright everyone. Find an open spot on the ground. Lay face down with your hands behind your back and we'll try to make this as quick and painless as possible.
(Enemy) MaleTurian nods to himself, replying, "Got it," into the comms before opening the door and getting out into the hall without a weapon. He falls into step by the others.
Salarian steps quickly out of the room, following after the turian. He doesn't have a weapon on his person, either.
All five of them complies, and makes their way over to lie on the ground near the batarian and human already there, hands behind their backs.
(Enemy) Asari answered the turian before walking into the garage, "It's a living room, nothing more than that."
Victoria holsters her locust and enters the garage with the ties ready to be put on the former foes.
Renala glared at the asari, but remained by the door to the restroom. The last thing she could use right now is another fight.
Kim sighs and heads towards the door after being left alone in the room for a few seconds, then puts a hand over her bullet wound as she steps out.
Jason stands aside at the intersection, allowing everyone to pass by. He nods towards Kim's wound as she emerges from the door. "That gonna hold you back?" he asks, a relieved smile returning to his face as he realizes she's alright.
Zaylus eyes the asari skeptically as she and her comrades march back into the garage. He lets them pass, but lingers and does not follow. Instead he proceeds down the hall toward the two doors, stopping just short as Kim emerges. "Damn." He mutters, glancing back behind him once before hitting the door control to the closed room.
Kim shrugs and begins walking towards where the other are with a decidedly bored face. "If you were hoping to carry me back like you did back then, you're going to be disappointed this time," she states as a smirk begins sliding across her face.
The door Zaylus opens leads into a few yards long hallway into a room -- no doorway. There is a large vid screen on the wall before the corner and couches along the wall with low tables. From where Zaylus is standing, he would see no other exits. There's a used canister of medi-gel on one of the tables, but the others have nothing of note.
Jason chuckles to himself and shakes his head. "Let's get them secured." he says, producing a few more ties and passing them off to Kim, "If you're up to it." he adds with a smirk.
Zaylus carefully proceeds the length of the hall, taking a few moments to survey and room and discern the asari must've been truthful before backing out into the main hall, resealing the door before making his way back into the garage.
Kim nods and takes the ties with only a snort in response, then moves into the garage. She goes over to the male turian and begins tying his hands behind his back.
Asari looks over to Kim from where she's lying. "Why are you guys here in the first place?" she says. "Did we crash a party of yours or something?"
Jason remains in the hall and leans against the wall beside Renala. "Hate to do this to you, Renala... But we need a bit more out of you. Think you've got it in you to check their systems for the data we were asked to retrieve?" he asks, "Found a terminal just down the hall." he adds, cocking a thumb over his shoulder in the direction of the security room.
Renala nods. "I can give it a shot," she says with a sigh. "You sure we have all their people under control? Didn't you say there were six out here?"
Victoria was done with the human and then went to the asari ''Oh yeah, completely necessary. We would hate to have a large group of people bite us in the ass.'' she said as she tied up the asari.
Zaylus strides back into the garage, taking the ties and approaching the female turian. "It's nothing personal, sweetheart." He says with a sigh, taking her hands and tying them back.
Jason puts an arm out, offering his shoulder for support, and gives a short nod, "Yeah... Nine on site." he says with a sigh, "The contractor said there were ten." he says, purposely avoiding using Rellis' name in case anyone might overhear him, "During our entry we took some sniper fire. Didn't have time to confirm, but I'm worried it might be our guy. There's only one place he could be if the map is any indication... That leaves one hostile left on site. If he's smart, he'll crawl into a small dark hole until we leave."\
Kim glances over to the asari. "That information is on a need to know basis. If it's decided that you need to know, you will be told." She finishes tying the turian's hands and sits down a few steps away.
(Enemy) Asari chuckles humorlessly. "You would have known already if I didn't surrender," she says to Victoria, "but tie me up if that's how you like it, honey."
Turian sighs, not offering any resistance. "How did you get past our systems?" she asks. "They haven't failed me for the decade they've been up."
Renala moves a hand around Jason's waist, letting him support her. "Thanks," she says. "I take it we're going after him when we're done in here, then?"
Victoria smirks at the asari ''Aww, such a sweet talker. Anymore and I might have to gift wrap you for myself.'' She said jokingly, as she finished tying her hands.
Jason shifts a bit to better support Renala. "Now, careful with your hands... I'm spoken for." he teases, trying to lighten the mood, "But we can't just leave them unsupervised." he continues, nodding towards the hostages on the floor as they pass the garage door. "A couple will have to stay behind and keep an eye on them while the others go after the turian." he says as they enter the security room. "Here we are."
Zaylus shrugs, "I don't know what systems you're talking about, we just walked right on in. Can't blame you guys for wanting to meet us, we're very special people." He explains with a grin, stepping over to restrain the last hostage: the salarian.
(Enemy) Asari tugs at her restraints slightly. "Well, I'm not going anywhere," she plays along with the joke, winking.
Salarian grumbles something under his breath, but doesn't show any further reaction to the turian's approach.
Renala feigns a look of dissappointment at Jason's remark before a smirk replaces it. "You can leave me behind, since I'm not in the best shape to walk," she says. "Maybe another one too, so I don't hurt that bitch." She's not entirely serious, nor does she explicitly state who she mean.
''Well, I'll just keep an eye on you then.'' Victoria said and walked over to the creates to lean on one.
Zaylus crouches down and takes the wrists of the salarian, tying on the restraints. "Yeah, yeah, I know." He mutters in response to his grumbling discontent. "You fought the good fight and now you get to rest a bit." He says, standing back up when he's satisfied.
Jason nods a few times as he helps Renala into the seat at the desk. "Yeah... Sounds like a plan." he says, "See what you can find on there." he continues, nodding at the terminal, "Grab anything that looks like it might be valuable."
Kim watches the others work as she sits, then pops out the heat sink of her Carnifex and puts in a fresh one.
The terminal is operational, but is prompting for a login. The security system on it is a bit outdated, however.
Renala nods. "Got it," she says as she enables the terminal. She enables her omni-tool and attempts to gain access to the layers below the outer shell of the system. "It might take a while, though."
Jason nods and moves towards the garage. "Take your time." he says, "Just be ready to move once the target is dealt with. With or without the information." Once he's back near the others, he looks over the hostages all laid out across the garage floor. "Alright. Which one of you wants to tell us about the turian you're working for?" he asks.
(Enemy) Turian considers the question briefly. "He went outside before you got here," she says. "As for where he is now, I don't know."
Victoria maked a face as she thinks she figured that out ''Anyone else think, that he was the sniper?''
Jason glances at the others. "The sniper fire we took coming in." he agrees with a nod as he pulls the map up on his omni-tool. "Not many places he could hide that would give him a proper view of the garage door. He's either in the forest, or the only remaining building... The spaceport. Let's start our search there. I'd rather avoid hiking through the forest if we can."
Zaylus paces around the restrained hostages, unclear if he's apprehensive or just bored with this lull in action.
Jason glances down at the asari, "For starters... I'd like to convince him to stop trying to shoot me." he says with a shrug. Turning his attention back to the team, he continues where he left off, "So someone is going to need to stay behind with her while she searches for anything worth taking." he says, nodding back towards Renala, "If there's no volunteers, I'll stay. But if anyone needs a breather, speak up."
Zaylus pulls an indecisive face, "I don't know, boss. I love walking into sniper fire and all, but I've just gotten so close to all these lovely people. It's tough to let go!" He answers dramatically, gesturing toward the floor of hostages.
Kim raises an arm. "Who do you think would give the worst impression, hun?" She grins softly and stands up from her spot, although not without swaying slightly. "You're talking about a trained professional, so..."
Renala | "You don't have to," she says from where she stands in the doorway leading into the room, holding onto the frame for support. "Most of their stuff was encrypted, so I just dumped much of it onto a couple OSDs I found laying around."
Zaylus looks down at his toes. "No way!" He says, gesturing dismissively. "I'm just saying they're both great options. Put me where you need me." He says definitively, crossing his arms over his chest.
Jason glances back at Renala, "If you're sure you can handle our new friends on your own, I won't argue... Just be ready to leave as soon as we're through... speaking with 'Kalus'." he says, "I'd prefer to avoid anymore bloodshed. But if they try anything, you know what to do." he adds. "Well..." he continues glancing over the others once again, "If that's settled, the rest of us should get moving. The sooner we find the turian, the sooner we can get out of here." he says, turning on his heels and exiting back into the hallway that Kim and Renala entered the building from, deciding it's probably safer to exit that way to avoid eating a sniper round the moment he steps outside.
Renala nods and slowly walks over to the door out to the hall, looking quite pained as she walks, and finds her locust. "I'll make sure the kids behave," she says. "Don't worry."
Victoria draws her locust and starts to follow Jason ''If they misbehave, tell me and I will spank them when I get back!'' She yelled from the hallway.
Zaylus goes to follow Jason toward the doorway, hesitating when he nears Renala. He gives her short nod before continuing on at a faster pace.
Jason continues through the hallway and exits the building through the door Kim and Renala used. Pressed against the wall, he inches his way towards the south-eastern corner. Once there, he raises his hand for the others to stop, and gives a short, quick peek around the corner, attempting to get as much of a lay of the land as he can.
From where Jason is, he cannot get a view of the spaceport due to the roofless house just south of the compound. It has four windows on the longer wall, all boarded shut.
Renala returns into the room with the hostages and sits down by the shuttle, very near the other asari, but does not say anything.
Jason pulls his head back and looks over towards Kim. "How much time can you get out of that tactical cloak of yours?" he asks.
Kim checks the cloak field status on her armor and inspects it for a moment. "Umm... I can generally get about a minute's worth maximum, but I haven't pushed it."
Jason nods but doesn't elaborate for the moment. "Alright..." he says and nods in the direction of the spaceport, indicating for the others to follow as he rounds the corner and heads straight towards the eastern wall of the roofless house, confident that if it's blocking his vision of the spaceport, it should also be blocking Kalus' vision. "If he's half as good as the contractor says he is, there's no way we'll make it the entire way without being spotted." he says, looking for any signs of movement in the distance, or anything to indicate a possible threat.
There are no visible threats visible in the east, southeast and south, and no good places to take cover for a sharpshooter.
Kim stays close behind Jason while keeping her stealth on standby. She doesn't say anything more for the moment, instead deciding to trust that he knows what he's doing.
Jason stops behind the roofless house and takes a knee as the others catch up. "So... We're in the middle of a field with a trained marksman ready to blow our tits off the moment we step out from behind this wall. If anyone has any brilliant, mind-blowing, soil-your-socks-and-rock-your-cocks type plan, now would be the time to speak up... If not..." he sighs and glances around, "His earlier shot didn't manage to penetrate Vicky's shields. So... Myself, Zaylus, and Victoria will separate and play whack-a-pyjak with the fucker... Hopefully draw his attention long enough for you to reach the treeline." he says, resting his eyes on Kim, "Follow the treeline south behind the spaceport, infiltrate, and make damn sure he stops breathing." he takes a breath and looks over the others, "Now... Please tell me that one of you have a better idea?"
Zaylus seems to ponder this a moment, before eventually coming up with, "Why would we need a better idea? It sounds perfect!" He says only half sarcastically.
Kim thinks for a few moments, but shakes her head. "I don't have a much better idea. Only thing is, they know I have a tactical cloak. I bet he'll suspect something pretty fast."
Jason sighs at Zaylus before responding to Kim. "Maybe. But we'll do the best we can to keep his attention. Once you're inside, it should be a one-on-one situation for you... Obviously the second he stops sending rounds our way, we'll haul ass to your location... I know it's not ideal, but I can't think of a better way..."
Kim nods. "Just... be careful. My strengths are deception and surprise, and those are likely not going to be very effective here."
Jason nods and starts towards the southern corner of the building, "Just pop that cloak and get to the treeline once he returns fire." he says. He looks back and points towards the opposite end of the building, implying that she should get into position.
Jason presses himself against the wall at the southern corner and inches up to the edge. He quickly peers out and spots his target: the low wall to the southwest. Without much hesitation, he rounds the corner and bolts towards the low wall.
A shot was attempted at Jason as he ran for the low wall, but it might not have been most accurate. The wall is 4 feet tall with slight variation, as some wall remains above the building's foundation.
Jason continues running as the shot rings out and whizzes past him. As he nears the wall, he hurls himself to the ground, sliding a short ways before clambering to his feet. He remains against the low wall in a crouch, keeping himself low enough to be concealed by the wall. "Keep movin', folks!" he calls out through his comms, hoping Kim has already began her trek towards the treeline.
Zaylus takes over his place at the southeast corner, shaking his head and muttering something to himself. After a brief moment of hesitation, a small grin appears on his face and the turian pushes off the corner and sprints toward another area of the low wall still hopefully out of sight.
Kim activates her cloak and waits a couple seconds after Jason leaves cover to start her sprint towards the treeline. She stumbles a couple times, but keeps running regardless.
Anyone looking towards the spaceport building might notice another flash; this time, the shot's aimed for Zaylus.
Jason stands up and rests his rifle along the top of the wall and fires off a few rounds in the direction of the spaceport. Unaware of where Kalus actually is, he's just trying to lay down enough suppressive fire to keep the turian on his toes.
Zaylus is staggered as a shot contacts his shields and completely decimates them. He is, however, close enough to his intended cover to hurl himself down and hold there.
The sniper seems to have failed to notice Kim's sprint for the treeline, and she will make it there uninterrupted. There's another shot, despite the suppression, aimed for Jason's weapon.
Jason 's Revenant is missed by the shot, straying ever so slightly to the right, as if guided away from the weapon by some godlike third-party. It instead impacts against Jason's chestplate. The shields absorb a good portion, but the force of the shot still hits hard enough to toss Jason onto his back, causing him to break into a coughing fit and grasp at his chest.
Kim moves along the treeline with her stealth off, more quickly than their first trek through. Naturally this means she is actually making noise this time.
Victoria holsters her locust and draws her avenger, she aims it at where Jason was firing and add her fire to help supress the target area.
The sniper fires again, aimed at Victoria this time. That's probably the only indication that he may not have noticed Kim yet. It would still be about two and a half minutes of walking for Kim to reach it, however.
Jason crawls onto all fours and drags himself back against the wall, beside his dropped weapon. He pats at his chest frantically searching for some kind of breach amongst the large dent in the plate, but it seems intact. He lets out a groan as a surge of pain shoots through his chest. "Fuck..." he cusses through gritted teeth. After a few deep breaths, he activates his comms and tries to put on as calm of a voice as he can muster, but his pained breathing would be a dead give away, "Ohh... We found him. We're doing fine... Yo-..." he grunts as another bolt of pain shoots through his chest, "...You know. Exchanging contact info. Extranet addresses and such. Just showed me what it feels like to be kicked in the chest by a krogan. Great guy."
Victoria depleted the ammo of her gun when the sniper hit her, she stumbled backwards, then dived back into cover reloading her weapon. ''Shit... that guy is a good shot.'' She was clearly stating the noticable fact, while waiting for her shields to recharge.
Jason glances towards Victoria. "Oh, is he?" he grunts, "What a wonderfully useful bit of information." he mutters, clearly frustrated and in pain.
Zaylus pulls himself up against the wall, shaking his head to ceremoniously shake off the shock of the impact. "You're good." He mutters, crawling slowly southward, careful to try to not breach the top of the cover.
Kim is now just about 20 seconds walking away from the spaceport, and sees the back of the building along with the north wall. There are no visible entrances on either of these walls, however.
Jason looks back and forth between Zaylus and Victoria. "My shields are shot and we need to get some fire down on him... Have to keep him looking this way if Kim is gonna get in unnoticed." he says, "How's your shields, Vicky?"
''My shields are completely down, but give me a few seconds and they will be back.'' She managed to get out while catching her breath from the shot.
The space port is about 6m/20ft tall, and of a material that's difficult ot climb on. There are two rows of windows on each wall, but all on the lower row, and most on the upper row are blocked.
Jason slaps a gauntleted hand against the wall, "Then get ready to get your ass kicked again... Soon as they recharge, lay some fire down on that building."
Kim comes to a stop when she begins being able to clearly see her target building. Cursing silently to herself, she activates her comms. "Hey, I'm assuming the entrance is on the eastern wall, correct? There's no entrances I can see from my position."
Jason activates his comms once again, "Yeah... Near the north-east corner... Make it quick, Kim, we're getting torn to shreds out here."
Zaylus stops his southward crawl, leaning up against the wall and getting on the comms. "You know, I really love this plan. But could you remind me what happens now?" He asks, deciding against just yelling his complaints across the open ground.
Zaylus shoots her an annoyed look, though doubtful she can see it. "Clearly, there's nowhere left to go, unless we want to start backtracking." He responds.
Jason doesn't bother to look in their direction, instead just giving them the finger, "It's easy to start picking apart someone elses plan when it stops working, but I certainly didn't hear you chiming in when we were brainstorming, did I!?"
Zaylus grunts in irritation before getting back on the comms. "Look, do we want to keep his focus on us or not? Is that the plan?" He asks, shifting a bit in place.
Kim activates her cloak and responds over the comm while it begins to take effect. "Understood. On my way now." She immediately sprints towards the building. The floor meets her face once she reaches it, but she wastes no time in getting back to her feet and moving towards the northern edge of the western wall. She moves to the north wall and begins moving towards the eastern wall.
Jason slams a fist against the wall and glares at Zaylus, "Of course that's the plan. Now, if your shields are back up, shut up and get his attention!"
Renala gets on the comms. "Stay safe out there," she says, offering what little (moral) support she can from back in the garage.
Zaylus considers this for a brief moment, gives a small shrug and an "Alright, boss." before standing back up. As soon as his head breaches the top of the cover he begins sprinting erratically, crossing a zig-zag pattern in the dirt as he jumps to and from the edge of the wall. It looks absolutely ridiculous, but by moving neither directly toward or away from the spaceport he hopes to reduce the likelihood of another shot as much as possible while drawing the sniper's attention. The others might be able to hear him laughing.
Jason cusses under his breath. "What the fuck are you doing!?" he questions out loud. He quickly scoops up his weapon and begins moving on all fours along the wall, following it north and rounding the corner so he's on the northern side of the structure. Hoping his sudden change of positioning might catch Kalus offguard, he rises up from behind the wall and fires a could burst of shots towards the roof before lowering back behind cover.
The sniper seems to take the bait, and fires a shot towards him as he jump up, but the unpredictability of the turian's movement might make this a miss. It could also possibly mean he hasn't spotted Kim. The shots may have grabbed his attention, as he fires towards Jason two seconds after he first notices his gunshots.
On an unrelated note, it starts raining, but it's only a drizzle for now. The sun has almost set, too.
Jason winces as the shot takes a chunk out of the wall. "Think we've still got his attention, Kim." he says, "Hurry and put him down before that changes!"
The door, is unlocked, and opens to reveal a rather large room, seeming to have had only two rooms which separating wall seems to be torn down – this former wall being parallel to the broad walls. The ceiling beams look like they've been subject to a lot of pressure, but haphazardly constructed reinforcements keep it from collapsing.
A point of interest is a ladder set up against the wall to the left, leading up to a small hatch. There is also a large, but closed, hatch in the center if the ceiling for anything twice the size of a Kodiak to leave through easily.
Zaylus is spurred on in his graceful dance by the shot striking behind him. He only continues moving along the wall in this moth-in-flight manner, occasionally slowing his movements in what might appear to be fatigue or petrifying terror, but in reality is more likely an attempt to make for an interesting target as he moves with mock purpose down the wall. He continues to produce loud laughter.
Kim slips inside the building and moves towards the ladder. She climbs a few steps before activating the comms. She remains fairly quiet in hopes that she won't be heard. "Hey. Is he still shooting at you? I'm close to him, but I'll be at a significant disadvantage. I have to be sure he won't shoot me the second I enter the room."
The snipers first fires at Zaylus, trying to guess his path. Then, after a reload, fires towards Victoria. Kim would be able to hear the gunshots.
Jason places a hand atop the short wall and leaps over it the moment the sniper fires a shot at Zaylus. Now inside of the structure, he presses himself against the western wall, attempting to at least give the impression that he's attempting to advance on the sniper somewhat. "He's definitely still shooting at us!" he relays over comms, "I'm going to repeat myself... PLEASE hurry and put him down!"
Kim climbs up to the hatch. "Understood," she relays back over the comms and tries opening the hatch. If it makes noise, she throws it open and climbs up as fast as possible. If it doesn't, she goes through slowly and tries making as little noise as possible.
Victoria |The shot just misses Vic, and she hears the wizz of the bullet pass her head. She then continues firing on the building.
The hatch opens with a moderate amount of sound; the slightly increasing rain hitting against the metal ceiling obscuring the sound it makes rather well.
The sniper attempts another shot at Victoria before quickly reloading his weapon. He is lying by the edge of the roof near the northeastern corner, but the barrel isn't even over the edge. His rifle resembles a Mantis rifle.
Zaylus jerks abruptly as the second shot very narrowly misses his central mass. Fearing his pattern has become too predictable, he dives behind the cover of the wall, resurfacing periodically for mere moments before disappeaing again.
Victoria takes the hit to the centre mass. She drops back down into cover and reloads her weapons, waiting for her shields to recharge again.
Kim decides that since the sniper is still shooting his sniper rifle, she is free to continue to use stealth. She slips through the hatch and lowers it back into place before pulling out her Carnifex. She takes aim at the sniper's head.
The turian sniper is in armor, which most likely has shields. It's hard to see whether there are any facial markings from that angle, however.
Kim takes a deep breath and loads up the overload program on her omni-tool. After firing it at the turian, she empties the clip of her pistol towards the turian's head.
(Enemy) Kalus is caught off-guard by the overload field and the subsequent pistol shots takes his shields completely. "Spirits," he says before the last shot hits just beside his head and he turns over, dropping his rifle, and reaching for a Phalanx pistol.
Kim rapidly pops the heat sink and puts in a new thermal clip, then activates her comms. "Positive on the target. Get your asses here, pronto!"
(Enemy) Kalus raises his phalanx to aim at Kim's head, and starts emptying its clip as fast as he can.
Jason cusses under his breath, figuring this means Kim hasn't killed the turian yet. Not willing to waste any time, he hurdles over the short wall and attempts to ignore his chest pain for the moment as he sprints towards the building. "You heard her!" he shouts over comms, "Get over there!"
Zaylus gets up off the ground where he's currently resting. Though still quite exhausted, he heeds the comm messages and runs a direct path to the spaceport, hurdling walls as they come.
Kim curses audibly and throws herself to the side the moment she sees him nearly ready to fire and fires back with the new clip. Her shields deplete fast and two bullets end up in her other shoulder, but she manages to empty the clip before dropping the gun.
(Enemy) Kalus is hit by the last bullet in Kim's clip, which nails him just between the eyes. He falls limp, losing grip of the phalanx.
Jason sprints through the open doors with reckless abandon and, due to the build-up of moisture on his boots, tumbles to the ground hard as he attempts to stop his stride. He doesn't let it hinder him long, however, using all four limbs to push back to his feet as he looks around for any clue as to how to get to the roof.
Kim manages to sit up and look over towards the dead turian, but can't do a whole lot else other than watch at the moment.
Jason hurries towards the ladder. He holsters his Revenant and nearly hops up the ladder, only stopping as he reaches the top to unholster his Phalanx. Using the pistol to push the hatch open, he pulls himself onto the roof and immediately bounds towards the turian, getting a few steps in before realizing he's deader than a doornail.
Kim looks over to the hatch as it opens and smiles softly. "Hey... you're late to the party. You missed all the fun."
Zaylus swings inside the doors, almost succumbing to the same fate as Jason as the rain catches up with him. After steadying himself on the wall, he targets the ladder and scales it quickly, spotting the aftermath before pulling himself up onto the floor.
Jason drops to the floor heavily, taking a seat beside Kim and drawing in a few deep breaths. "You look like shit." he says, eyeing her wounds and enjoying the cold touch of the rain momentarily.
Jason tosses his pistol down on the ground and activates his comms. "She's fine, Vicky... Target eliminated. We've still got a bit of a walk, Renala... Prepare for extraction."
Zaylus crawls a few feet from the hatch, settling as it all begins to wind down. He takes a few moments to catch his breath, thoroughly worn out from his tactical dancing.
Kim laughs dryly and leans against Jason roughly. "Not what a girl likes to hear after saving your life... but I'll forgive you this time."
Renala replies over the comms, "Got it. I'm feeling a little better, but could use someone to lean on," she says. "The people here haven't tried anything... well, aside from the asari, but she knocked it off."
Victoria started to head back to the garage to help out Renala, so she got comms ''Heading back to the garage.... Wait have my little friend been bad?!?'' She said the last part jokingly.
Renala can be heard chuckling over the comms. "Just flared her biotics, but I managed to... persuade her to cut that crap."
Jason removes a canister of medi-gel from his hardsuit and tosses it to Kim wordlessly. After a few more deep breaths, he gets up on his knees and activates his omni-tool. Reaching out, he tilts Kalus' head until it's lined up well enough to get a nice shot of his face. A few moments later the orange glow dissipates and Jason allows his weight to fall back on his ass. "Pretty sweet moves out there, twinkle toes." he says with a smirk, which quickly turns into a chuckle and, before long, erupts into full blown laughter.
Victoria made it to the garage and open the large door she was still on the comms ''Hey, I said if anyone was bad that was a paddling.'' She continued in her joking tone.
Zaylus allows a chuckle to escape him, relaxing further as the tension releases. He allows Jason to have his laugh, and starts to move back to the ladder as he speaks. "Yeah, yeah. You just wish you could move like that. The ladies -love it-." He explains, crawling back down the ladder. "I could teach you sometime!" He calls out from the main floor, shaking his head and grinning as
Jason 's laugh loudens for a few moments, but then comes to an abrupt stop as a sudden sadness overcomes him when the memory of a familiar dancing turian comes flooding back to him. "Yeah... I bet they do..." he says, barely a whisper, as he climbs to his feet.
(Enemy) Asari nods. "Eh, kinda guessed you had a more... hands-on approach" she replies jokingly, winking as well.
Renala looks up at Victoria, getting to her feet, giving the asari a serious stare, "Don't try anything," she says.
Kim uses her good arm to apply the medigel, then rises to her feet with a quick glance towards Jason. "Anything else we need to do? I'd like to get out of this rain..."
Jason shakes his head and scoops up his Phalanx, reholstering it, "We're good to go." He takes a step towards Kalus and grabs the turian's rifle. He gives it a quick once over, looking for any damage. "Might come in handy." he mutters.
Renala takes a few slow steps towards Victoria, seeming pained as she does so. "Maybe we could get going," she says, "so that they don't have to wait too long for me at the shuttle?"
The rifle is a M-92 Mantis, though modified for greater firepower and precision at really long distances. It has no visible damage. There is a Phalanx pistol on the ground just by the turian's hand.
Kim nods and moves over to her Phalanx, then holsters that. She glances over to the sniper rifle before moving over to the hatch and opening it up. "Say. If you are willing to organize training for me, I can probably put that to good use. I'm not very useful the way I am in a straight-up firefight either way."
Zaylus jogs toward the garage through the rain, reaching it afer a bit of running and a little slipping. He enters through the large open door, holding his hands up on either side. "How're my favorite hostages doing? Eh? Eh?" He asks, a small grin betraying his self-amusement.
Renala glances back with a sheepish look. "Oh, yeah...," she says. "Let the turian woman free, and let her take care of the rest." She walks past Victoria and gets outside, before enabling her omni-tool near the garage door's panel.
Jason collapses the Mantis and hands it off to Kim. "Having a certified sniper around is never a bad thing." he says before descending down the ladder and making his way back towards the garage, soaked from head to toe by now.
(Enemy) Asari looks up. "Wonderful," she says, sarcastically. "Tell your asari friend to cheer up a little. Can't even take a fucking joke."
Turian just grumbles, visibly annoyed at their immobilized state -- just as about every other hostage there.
Jason claps his hands together as he enters through the garage door. "Alright, folks. Let's get gone." he says. "Wait about fifteen minutes..." he begins, glancing between the hostages, "Then you're good to free yourselves however you can. If we see you following us, there won't be any more kindness." he threatens.
The hostages comply, and they are not followed on the way back to the LZ, Renala aided by Jason. The salarian sees the taken photograph and accepts the contract as fullfilled. Renala handed over the OSDs, but he couldn't confirm whether they'd hold any value at current. He flies them back to Freedom Falls Spaceport where the group part ways. He promised Redrock Agency would hear from him in less than a day about payment.
